I wish I can give y'all a clearer picture of the TRUE STORY behind this , but I can't. When this priest was transfered to that church, the youths of his previous parish carried placards in protest. Why? He was being transfered because he stopped the parish council from having access to the church money. He gives the church band and hall free of charge to any parishioner that wants to wed, he charges no money for baptism, he virtually blocked every avenue through which the church 'fathers' steal church money. His transfer to that village was a pure act of vendetta. Tell me where priests in a rural area like Obingwa drives three SUVs and a V-boot Mercedes? And he came to that church with those cars. But I will say it again, let the law run it's course!

He is d principal u know. he will come out if he is innocent. My concern is mostly about d Church he reps
You're funny. If you've ever witnessed something and read the embellished version courtesy of the press, you'll understand how I feel. But, like I said, let the investigations go on. So far, there is no direct link between him and the kidnappers.

That's bad, coming at this time the Church is trying to clean up its global image. i beliv the soldiers are doing their job-a good one compared to that of police. hop the guy is innocent sha and may they arrest that guy, 'susu'.

@slap1: even if d priest is ya twin bros, u can't just dismiss suspicion like that-there has to be an investigation, even though ours is stone-aged and thus takes too long.
Let the investigations go on then. My only consolation is he has money and will come out soon. Four of his family members arrested together with him have been released.

I just have to let sleeping dogs lie. People die for crimes they didn't commit even in established systems like America. I know he will come back, and I will also post it here, with his pictures and all, cos the press won't.

So they should just ignore the fact that a kidnapping camp was behind the church and the kidnappers were getting water from there. While this doesn't provide proof of his involvement it is grounds for suspicion, and they are right to arrest him.

Whether he is involved or not will soon become known with proper investigation. That is the only thing that we need to call for - proper investigation.
I hope the investigation goes right. These guys took over a whole village! So what's odd in getting water from 'their' bore-hole? Everything they need, the get it by force! I can assure you that the priest has reported the activities of those boys to the police and nothing came out of it. The army are just arresting everybody in sight in the village.

You know him as a friend or u know that he is innocent ?
If he is innocent, let him defend himself, shikena.
Interesting, how many innocent people suceed in defending themselves in this country? I know he will come out soon, he only has to part with a good sum of money. Imagine the flimsy question he was asked: "why are you driving a car like this in this small village?" Empty rounds of ammunition were found in the church compound and it's purlieus and he was arrested. Meanwhile, every body had deserted the place, including the parishioners. Did they say they caught him IN the church?

Haba @slap1,

after writing all these, even playing football with the thieves and the pastor having gun and all stuffs, you still said he is innocent.
I said I THINK he is innocent. And he had the gun BEFORE coming to my area, stayed for nearly four years before moving to Obingwa last year. I've confirmed that he's the one, he just came back from abroad last month. He was arrested alongside two of his brothers, a 16 yr old house help and a female servant studying Management at Abia State Poly. They've all been released, except the priest. The soldiers broke the head and arm of one of his brothers. I KNOW THESE PEOPLE, THEY ARE INNOCENT!

I know that priest and his family wella! (no joking). I just read this thread and was shocked to the bone when I saw the name of the church and something about an SUV. . . He was transfered to that church last year and I was among the guys that helped him carry his property over. He has four cars: a V-boot Mercedes, a 2008 Isuzu Trooper, a 2008 Cherokee jeep and a Toyota Sequia jeep. I recall playing football in the said primary school with some of those boys for the two days we were there. We saw them as harmless dudes, although we saw their guns, because they told us they were not going to harm us, that they just want to play football with us. That was last year and this kidnapping thing has not even started and we took them for local thieves. The priest himself has a gun, a pump-action riffle he used to scare miscreants away during bazaar sales. We're yet to confirm if he is the actual person but that is the name of the church and village. It's a very small church and has only one priest. Some months ago he travelled to America, I thought he was yet to return till I read this story. If I confirm that he is really the one, I MIGHT post his name, and his picture. His name is a French name which means 'Goodluck', that's all I can say for now. If you're in Aba, get a copy of REX newspaper, published by the catholic diocese of Aba tomorrow, and you're sure to get the story. But I think he is innocent.
