tete7000: Unfortunately in his great book: Art of war, Tsa said the greatest General is the one who achieved victory without shooting a bullet. According to him diplomacy where possible should be the first recourse in war. Those pushing our retired General President to go out all warring forgot to remind him of that piece of advice. Apt! Buhari also failed to understand there is no other way to guard yourself against flattery than by making men understand that telling you the truth will not offend you.Niccolo Machiavelli-The Prince. |

tete7000: How is it possible? It is not possible to guard thousands of kilometres of pipeline that crisscoss jungles and swamps. There will always be plenty of places where people can act and carry out their heinous activities. It is why I always laugh whenever I hear Buhari threatening the boys. No be people security see dem go catch? Those who went for amnesty understood why. I often wonder if Buhari was present in this country in the past when people sought those solutions to the problem. If he had been present, he would have tread cautiously on the Niger delta issue. He was too aloof in Daura then condemning what past government were doing. His advisors and supporters have now successfully pushed him to limbo by making him to first appear as an unyielding General. Let's see if he adopts his supporters advice of dropping barrel bombs across all the Niger Delta. |

These boys mean business and dead serious.Their success rate between words and actions is deadly hence shouldn't just be wished away but addressed before an already crippled economy on coma finally gives up it's ghost.
How did they achieve this strategic feat of shutting off refineries and cutting Gas supply to Lagos and Abuja 24 hours after taking out 1 billion dollars daily from our national purse? |

whirlwind7: That's the same reason why Nigeria still exists today. People who were otherwise reasonable, once they get elected or appointed into an office, gets stifled by the spoils of office, namely, the loose and largely unaccounted for money accruing from crude oil sales. There's nothing like easy money to shut a man up. Every single politician in this country know that we cannot survive as country if we keep going this way. But since they are the most beneficiary of the flawed system we operate, you do not really expect them to speak against it, do you? So, they are all hang on to the ride and milk the nation dry, while hoping that this contraption of a country will last a little bit more longer for them to feed fat on it. Then, it is no longer rocket science that our politicians are the clog in the wheel of our progress. It then follows that all our politicians both past and present cut across tribal religious lines should be rounded up and justice done before we then proceed to a round table to discuss the future. I still have a certain reserved respect for Kaduna chukwuma Nzeogwu for his ability to see ahead and attempt made to change the norm. |

Buhari is just sitting at Aso rock ignoring issues or rather he left for France today. Nigerians need to start seeking International help to denounce its Independence as it was a premature exit in the hands of the British. Buhari has failed in his primary duty of securing lives and properties. |

Buhari must be a very wicked man It would have been better if he was bold enough to hand out petrol and match box to this madness instead of his tact body language which allowed this whirlwind to gain momentum and consume free citizens. In sane societies, buhari should be making his resignation speech. |

modath: If this would solve our problems, how many splinter units by the way,? nothing can , except maybe if politics is less monitized & proper laws that guide conducts of citizens and due process are entrenched... IMHO..
Ife & Modakeke don't agree, small Ekiti/Ijebu communities that one can't even distinguish their boundaries have no peace. Ijaw /Urhobo/Itshekiri always at loggerheads, The anangs, Efiks, Ibibios have their own sets of problems.
The age long Osu & some Ibo state/dialects claiming superiority over orders is another different ball game.
Hausa Fulani won't allow the northern minorities breathing space!!
This country is a cluster bleep of effed up!!! Nigerians complex problems defiles text book solutions but requires cutting edge alien inspired solutions. One would ordinarily say why not we just divide the geographical expression and go our separate ways but when you take into account genocide that would likely occur as a result of boundary disputes and rights to resources such ideas are easily dismissed. I feel we as a people and Nigeria as a country has gotten to that point where we are faced with the stark choice of evolve or die.We either device new approaches to handling our affairs or we all gonna die! |
Politics › Re: Blood Flows In Delta Communities, As Conflict Intensifies by SleekAboki: 11:35am On May 06, 2016 |
whirlwind7: Your analysis is 100% accurate. This is one of the reasons the outcome of the National Conference needs to be implemented. Next is regionalism, where the country is divided into the former geopolitical zones, and power is decentralized. It should be a gradual process, where impending conflicts such as this gets ironed out as they arise.
As it is now, once conflict breaks out anywhere in the country, the governor of such state cannot order the police force to take control of the situation. He has to get the president to do this instead. The president being far away, and occupied with other contingencies, will not appreciate the gravity of the problem until several lives have been lost, and there's a media outcry.
It should be apparent to everyone that the system of government we operate in this country is not working. We have experimented with it for over 50 years, and we still think it will suddenly begin to yield great results? We have lived in denial for far too long. I agree with you. The question now is why are the APC led by tinubu who were so vocal about regionalism and state policing suddenly gone mute as soon as they took control of Fedreal government? Is this not treachery and moronic hypocrisy? |

If this nation is to be divided today, expect more of these nationwide. The north itself would be an epic battle field between the Saudi Sunni and Iranian Shiite not to talk of ethnic resumption of hostilities between Fulani and the middle belt.
We need to tell ourselves the truth and come to the round table to look for peaceful ways we can collectively forage ahead or peaceful go our separate ways. If these two things fail then Nigeria would witness a great evil never seen before in the history of mankind. This generation must be bold to iron out these issues so that the next-generation can build on a clean slate. |
