Career › Re: When Did You Know You'd Be Bagging A 3rd Class (or Pass) ? by sleekcm(m): 8:19pm On Jun 13, 2012
My year 1 in the uni was a nightmare. Most times lectures were combined and held in warehouses! Imagine up to 3 thousand students from engineering and natural sciences listening to one lecturer. My result was decorated with E's and D's, with just a couple of C's and one B. Coupled with some difficult family/financial issues, I found it really hard to focus on the academic side of things. The system back then was really bad as lecturers gave out poor grades so you can come sort them.

My results only started improving from second semester 2nd year. The damage was already done. Had to make A's, B's and couple of C's to augment the lean years. One daft lecturer almost ruined it for me by giving me alongside 8 others an F in a 4th year practical course. This dude just lost our scripts and decided in his almighty wisdom to give us all F's. We had to meet several other lecturers and one well respected Prof before he gave us all E's in 5th year, making the course a carry-over. I made a 2.1 but could have done much better.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Arsenal Fans Thread: The Red & White Army: 2025/2026 EPL Champions! by sleekcm(m): 5:23pm On May 26, 2012
The problem of Arsenal not competing for the top honours is down to one man, Arsene Wenger. Let's do little recap.

Last summer, Arsene said no one would believe we're a big club anymore if we sold our two best players in Cesc and Nasri. He said they would be staying. Then what happened? You already know.

Now what kept Wenger from re-investing the cash received for capable replacements? Mata was available. Hazard was also available at the right price. These two would have plugged the Cesc and Nasri-shaped hole in the squad but Wenger decided they were too expensive. He never remembers that when he sells players at very inflated rates. Any top manager with ambition would have gone in for Mata and Hazard, not Arsene as he would not get the credit for discovering them.

Then we get trashed 8-2 by the Mancs and he suddenly realised what we've known for years: that his squad has no spine. That Traoure was crap. This is the same Arsene who repeatedly refused to buy a proper left back after selling Clichy. He said we had what we needed at left back. Absolute bollox that! Traoure and the glass-legged Gibbs.

The problem of Arsenal is Wenger. He's too stubborn and likes to prove everyone wrong. Anyone remember how he used to brag about the average age of this team? They will beat everyone when they are 22! Guess what? Half the team is gone!

The things that needs to be done are quite clear and simple. We need to move on the dross at the club first.
JD, Crapmakh, Park Chu Nooo, Denilson, Bendtner, Squill, Flappy and all the youth players who aren't good enough and will never play for Arsenal. Eastmond, Lansbury, Yennaris, etc.

Then add M'Villa, a left-back (Vertonghen, move Santos into midfield, he's no defender!), experienced goalie, goal-scoring-violent-center forward (Giroud!)
We all know these players will strengthen us and convince RVP to stay but Arsene will rather continue to scout them! Just like he did with Eden Hazard who we could have pinched 2 seasons ago but he preferred the cheaper option Gervais! We've all seen how that turned out.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Arsenal Fans Thread: The Red & White Army: 2025/2026 EPL Champions! by sleekcm(m): 1:52pm On May 20, 2012
@ritchboy, it doesn't matter how you play as long as you win. Nobody remembers who played the most beautiful game but champions are etched in history.

Last time my beloved Arsenal won a trophy, 2005 against United, Arsene packed the bus, played crap and won the FA cup via penalties.

Nobody gives a damn how United played better than Arsenal in that game. Who won?

It's sad that our manager has become delusional and forgotten what brought him so much success in his first 7 years.
Arsene needs to stop penny pinching and spend the money available to him. We missed out on Juan Mata for how many million? Maybe £3m? Then signed Park Chu Noooo for £3m.
Fantastic management by Wenger!
Now, Vertonghen is there for the taking, better than Vermalaen according to their coaches at Ajax, player of the year in Eredivisie, wants to join Arsenal, will cost under £10m.

Guess what? Arsenal are penny pinching once more! Arsene will come out and tell us we where in for him when he turns out for the tiny totts next season.

Never mind we still got JD the clown who earns his wages presenting a stupid diary on Arsenal.com

Rant over!

I missed an ex's traditional marriage and she was livid with me. Another ex also invited me to her wedding but I had to work that day. It's like the stuff wouldn't have taken place without me. Females are wire like that.

PS: why do people of nairaland like to abuse and curse themselves? Very pathetic.

Beats me why plastic Chav fans are on a gunner thread. Now, why would anyone say Arsenal will lose at home to a crappy Wigan team? Delusion!

RuuDie: Damn!

Really had mad, deep feelings for a certain dame and she knew it. . . . .I am fairly certain she is attracted me too but for some reason, she just never seemed to be revealing much of herself to me as I was to her. I thought maybe it was a thing time and a bit of patience would overcome but I guess I was reading it all wrong.
Folks who knew her a great deal better than I cautioned that she was (as with most women of a certain age) on the look-out for settling into marriage and I probably didn't fit the bill. I didn't see it that way or she didn't give any such impressions - I guess I was giving her a great deal more regard than she deserved because a couple weeks back, I got word she'd be tying the knot. knocked the wind right out of my sail.
Its just crazy 'cuz I am in a position where I can do or say little - afterall, she never made any concrete promises. . . . .but damn it hurts!

I don't want to believe that in the bid to acquire that status of being a 'married woman', she's shunned true love and settled for the 'next best thing'. On the surface, thats what it appears. . .but I will never know for sure. I can only pray it isn't so, not because it hurts to be rejected this way but because that's how much I truly love her - I always wish and want the best for her; anywhere, anytime!

I could have sworn we had something good going and with a bit more time and room to grow, she would be my wife - maybe she didn't have that luxury! After the previous paragraph, I shed a few tears for the love I never had but that is always in my heart!
I feel your pain bro.
