SleekyP: The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC), on Tuesday ordered Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) to make refunds to all customers given over-estimated bills.
This is contained in a statement issued by the commission’s Head of Public Affairs, Dr. Usman Arabi in Abuja. “Following conclusion of investigations of misdemeanor leveled against it, the commission has ordered AEDC to refund the affected customers through energy credit of all excess charges those customers were billed”, it said. The statement explained that the action followed an earlier Notice of Enforcement and subsequent investigation of instances of overbilling perpetrated by the company.
“AEDC shall with immediate effect from the date of this Order, commence refund through energy credit of all excess charges billed its customers. “The commission further orders AEDC to within five days notify the affected customers of the overbilling in writing. “This is in line with Regulation 9 (7) of the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission’s Meter Reading, Billing, Cash Collections and Credit Management for Electricity Suppliers Regulation 2007″, it said.
It also ordered the company to publish an apology to affected customers in a newspaper with wide circulation within its franchise area. The statement also ordered the company to state their business units and the amount of excess charges billed them during the period under review.
It said the company was expected to report back within two months beginning from June 15, to the commission, its compliance with the sanctions meted on it.
According to the statement, the company tripled its customers’ bills issued in Sept. 2014 and issued it as bills for Oct. 2014, without evidence of a commensurate increase in electricity supply within the same period.
The commission, on Thursday April 16, 2015, issued Notice of Enforcement Action on AEDC over manifest and flagrant breaches’ of approved methodology for estimated billing of electricity consumers. (NAN)

Politics › Tinubu Never Imposed Lawan, Gbajabiamila On Apc…the True Story- Boroffice by SleekyP(op): 9:26pm On Jun 16, 2015 |
SleekyP: Robert Boroffice, the Senator representing Ondo North Senatorial District, made it clear today that against the rumour circulating that APC National leader, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu had imposed Senator Ahmad Lawan and Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, as consensus candidates of the party for the National Assembly leadership positions before Saraki emerged winner, is nothing but a false story. Boroffice who claims to be in the know says the campaign of calumny against the National leader was a grand conspiracy to tarnish his image because some people were no longer comfortable with his growing influence and goodwill within the party. Below is what Boroffice told Journalists today in Abuja.
“Asiwaju Tinubu had already made up his mind to, in line with the normal, global parliamentary practice, support Akume and Gbajabiamila but the story changed along the line, when there were indications that the party leadership was favourably disposed to Lawan.
“Tinubu did not before then, have any close political interactions with Lawan. It was a senator, who is very close to the presidency that actually took Lawan to Asiwaju in Lagos, in company with another prominent party leader.
“Tinubu, categorically told the two gentlemen in the presence of Lawan that his choice was Akume and pledged to consult with other party leaders before he would give his final answer to their request to support Lawan.
“I was in the know of all the process that led to the emergence of Lawan and Gbajabiamila as consensus candidates. Tinubu played the role because of his loyalty to the party. I was among the four people that he sent to beg Akume, since he had already promised to support him.
“The campaign of calumny against Asiwaju was a grand conspiracy to tarnish Tinubu’s image because some people were no longer comfortable with his ever growing influence and goodwill within the party, which he earned over the years as a result of his generosity and selfless service.”
“It was when their wicked campaign against Lawan because of Asiwaju’s support for him failed, that they connived with the Peoples Democratic Party to rebel against the party’s consensus candidates of Lawan and Gbajabiamila,” he said.

Crime › We Received N28m Ransom Before Releasing Kidnapped Senior Advocate – Accused by SleekyP(op): 9:12pm On Jun 16, 2015 |
SleekyP: Abuja – Frank Azuekor, one of four suspects charged with kidnapping Chief Mike Ozekhome, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, on Tuesday, said his gang took a N28 million ransom before releasing Ozekhome.
Azuekor told a Federal High Court in Abuja that he received N4.1 million as his share of the ransom.
Azuekor, Kelvin Ezeigbe, Michael Omonigho and Momoh Haruna, were arraigned in 2013 on a 13-count charge bordering on conspiracy, armed robbery, kidnapping and acts of terrorism.
The trial judge, Justice Adeniyi Ademola, had ordered trial-within-trial after Mr Bala Dakum, counsel to the accused persons, objected to the admissibility of their confessional statements to the Department of State Services (DSS).
Dakum had argued that the confessional statements purportedly made to the DSS were not voluntarily made by his clients.
At Tuesday’s resumed hearing, the DSS produced a video footage of the conditions of the statement-taking to prove the voluntariness of the statements.
In one of the clips played while examining a DSS witness, Azuekor revealed that on Aug. 23, 2013, the initial seven-man gang ambushed Ozekhome’s vehicle on Auchi Road in Edo.
He said that the gang shot dead three police officers who pursued them and recovered two Ak-47 rifles from them.
Azuekor said the gang received a N28 ransom from Ozekhome before releasing him, adding that he got N4.1 million as his share.
The accused persons and others, still at large, are accused of committing acts of terrorism, contrary to sections 1, 8 and 10 of the Terrorism Prevention Act, 2011.
They are alleged to have, on Aug. 23, 2013, kidnapped Ozekhome at Iruekpen on his way to Iviukwe in Agenebode, Edo.
Ozekhome was held in captivity for about three weeks before his release allegedly following the payment of a ransom.
The suspects also allegedly shot and killed four Police officers namely Paul Ajaka (ASP); Sunday Ewanshiha (Insp.); Michael Akpada (Insp.) and Bakary Ekong (Insp.) and Innocent Odoh (Sgt).
They also allegedly killed two prison officials namely Lawrence Edora (Insp.) and Oyibo Okoye (SPA) and made away with their service rifles.
Justice Ademola adjourned the case until July 8 and July 9 to enable the defence counsel to cross examine the witness on the video evidence. (NAN)

Romance › Gobe!!! Lady Caught Her Friend With Her Boyfriend (pics) by SleekyP(op): 8:25pm On Jun 16, 2015 |
It was a serous fight in one of the upscale neighbourhood in Lagos recently as a big girl caught one of her best friend doing rough things under the sheets with her young boyfriend. She has been hearing rumours and has been on their trail until she finally caught her friend red handed eating her “private food”. A source who was privy to the messy details said the big girl has been bragging to her girl friends about how good her young boyfriend is performing in the bedroom, not knowing that what she usually tell them has led her friend to want to enjoy it too. It took the intervention of another of their friend and a neutral guy in the compound to save the betrayer from the hands of their angry friend who was ready to tear her down for chopping her bobo. The friend has been taken to the hospital while the young boyfriend is begging his sugar mummy for forgiveness, especially knowing that the other friend is not as rich as the main woman.
