Hi Gazzuz. Thanks for this thread.

I recently got a 2010 toyota Corolla (Sport Version) just last year. the ac has been working perfectly until recently. once i put on the ac, it cools perfectly for like a minute and suddenly stops working until i increase my speed or rev the engine. at holdups it does not work at all. I have refilled the gas on several occasions but the problem still persists. What could be the cause? i contacted my kazeem and he said it could be the thermostat or the compressor. Kindly help

I believe government have different departments and ministries. So how does the work of EFCC stop government from performing in other areas. Abi you just want EFCC to be resting and doing nothing?

Meanwhile I am surprise at this age and experience, we cannot see the link between corruption and poverty. You expect government to be successful, but criminals should be left to continue in their crime. You didn't know that nothing will work if corruption is allowed to fester. You dey take medicine for snake bite and still want poisonous snakes to move freely around you.

When I see things like this coming from supposedly educated and mature people, I cry for Naija. Abi na just to support corruption anyhow, any which way?

May God bless you for this...sometimes the way some people reason just baffles me.

Sell all the refineries.. No be like say dem don ever work sef.

Sell off all the F.G stakes in the J.V's.. It's not as if the F.G has ever been able to meet its obligations under those agreements.

Sell off Ajaokuta steel Company.. That Project started long before I was born and my Children are going to turn up soon and still one capsule of steel never come out from the fhucking place..

Concession all the Federal Airports.. Its a shame that in 2016, Nigeria can't boast of 1 standard International Airport anywhere in the 36 states..

Concession the Railways.. I see the Federal Government running even these revitalized ones into the ground as they did in the past.

I think the Seaports too should be concessioned.. The delays in turn around time for vessels and the fact that Port Harcourt and Calabar ports are redundant is a good reason to do this..

History has taught Nigerians that the Federal Government of Nigeria lacks the ability to successfully manage any business. Examples we can learn from include;

1. Nigerian Telecommunications Limited (NITEL) - If not for MTN and Econet, God knows where we would still be telecoms wise as a Nation. The NITEL Tower in Lagos is a steady reminder of the epic nature of the failure of NITEL.

2. National Electric Power Authority (NEPA) - The fhuckery of NEPA is still hunting Nigeria many years after they were unbundled.

3. Nigerian Airways - I doubt alot of people on Nairaland even remember that Nigeria once owned a National Carrier.

4. Nigerian Railway Corporation - Another sad sad story of the Nigerian Governments inability to run a business.

5. National fertilizer Company (NAFCON) - Pfft.. I remember when I was in primary school and Secondary school, kids whose parents worked in NAFCON were filthy wealthy.

6. Ajaokuta Steel and Delta Steel Companies - The fhuckery still continues even till today.

** If NNPC were not dealing in oil, with the level of corruption and decay in that entity, by now it would have sank like the others mentioned above.

BUT you see the NLNG!!! They should not even dare touch it.. And the Brass NLNG which they have locked up in shady dealings and re-dealings should be fast tracked and brought to life. Gas is the future, Oil is dead.

Yes dry port is basically for where there is no close sea port, but my grievance is why non in north east and citing three in three neighboring states of Kano, Kaduna and katsina, all in north west. Why not atleast one in either Bauchi Borno Adamawa, Taraba or Gombe or Yobe afterall four of the state's in the north east are linked by rail.

You made sense...but am sure if you consider the security situation in this states, you would agree with me that those states selected are better placed. Moreover goods or whatever can still be trucked to and fro from the dry ports thereby saving or even creating more jobs. Cheers

Nice thread. One classic that comes to mind is 'When a child is Motherless' by Andrew Okogba. This book got me so emotional especially the part where he lost his mom in River Niger. Below is an excerpt from the book...

“Do not cry, my child. Your experience is in line with the experience of any child who is motherless. When a child is motherless, he knows no love. When a child is motherless, he lacks the tender hands of a mother who cares so much. His life is that of misery and sorrow. But life itself is full of hopes and there is no need to despair until destiny takes its course.”

When a horror movie gets it right, it’s easy to forget that what you’re watching is ‘just a movie’. A believable premise, relatable characters, and gripping fear can make nightmarish creations uncannily believable.
Some monsters, creatures, and characters have remained in our collective consciousness and have become iconic for horror film buffs everywhere. These characters are the stuff that nightmares are made of. Viewers’ sleep is often disturbed for weeks after first witnessing these horrific tales. Such is the power of a good psychological thriller, or slasher film, or any other subgenre that fits the ‘horror’ mould. The following are the most iconic, terrifying creatures and characters in film history that have haunted our collective consciousness since their inception.

Please kindly add yours and let the fun begins....

Business / Re: CBN Halts Branch Operations By Bureaux De Change #Emefieleconomics by Slickchuma1: 9:24pm On Dec 14, 2015
lastpage:

First, l agree that there is no need to "Hawk" forex at street corners but l do understand that those Mallams are just like "marketers" who are staffers of a particular registered BDC Company.

What needs to be done is to ask that the actual transactions take place in a registered office. That is, when the "marketer" gets a customer off the streets, he should lead that customer to their registered office and the transaction takes place in such office. Finito!

You are right about the transaction taking place in a registered office but totally wrong by saying the marketer should lead the customer to their office. Personally I would not trust the marketer to follow them to their offices. Since all offices would have been registered I would rather Google the office location and go there on my own.

Again, asking BDC's to close all branches is like asking all Banks to close down all their branches and operate ONLY from their Head office!
What can be more stewpid than that?

On this I do not think it is 'stewpid' but rather allows for each BDC to be held accountable and their activities monitored. CBN didn't say several BDC's can't be opened.

Is Emefiele telling us that if a BDC has its HQ at Abuja, l need to travel to Abuja, to exchange a paltry $300, for example?
Why cant l change it at their branch office nearest to me? What is that directive supposed to achieve?

On this you could always google the nearest BDC closest to you and go to the offices directly. Even the black marketers are not located at every street corners, eg in lagos there are limited place where you would see abokis.

Let me use the UK as a reference point cos I lived there a while, post offices and a handful of currency shop deal with forex, it is not ideal to allow every body and anybody access to forex.

You dont cut-off your nose, simply to spite your face! It is senseless and counter-productive!!

I think we should be asking ourselves what are the advantages of this policy, we lost both the advantages and disadvantages and see which would be better, what every body on this thread have been doing is mostly to spell out the disadvantages, trust the average naija not to be objective in analysis.

What we need is more "intelligence-led" monitoring, not some rash of archaic policies that lead now-where.
