Politics / REVEALED: Jonathan's Friends Aiding Buhari To Win by Slim101(m): 7:39am On Jan 01, 2015 |
I found this piece by one Suleiman Gaya and I believe it's one of the best opinion I've read on this subject matter. It's a very good read: Source: www.opinions.ng/revealed-jonathans-friends-aiding-buhari/ Nigeria’s presidential election is 46 days away. But one of the major tragedies facing the PDP candidate, incumbent President Goodluck Jonathan is that by their actions and overzealousness, many of his aides, friends and associates are doing a great disservice to him. Many of them still delude themselves that divisive utterances and manipulation of religion are going to serve as effective tools in 2015, as it did in 2011. They do not seem to realise that Nigerians are now wiser, knowing very well that both Christians and Muslims bear the brunt of their leaders’ failings or incompetence. Muslims and Christians drive on the same bad Nigerian roads, buy from the same market, spend the same currency. There is no strong naira for Christians or weak one for Muslims. Instead of presidential aides and associates of President Jonathan to market him as the leader that has made unprecedented strides in agriculture, or one that has enriched enrolment into basic schools from 23 million in 2010 to 29 million two years later, they are busy offending millions of northerners and Muslims and making them turn their backs on the President. There are so many positives to market Jonathan with: In the first ever meeting I was privileged to have with the President in 2012, he felt offended when I told him, in response to a question he asked me, that I was an indigene of Kano State. He remarked that young men of my generation represent the best hope for this country, and that we should always look at ourselves first and foremost as Nigerians. By invoking religion, trying desperately to paint General Muhammadu Buhari as a Muslim fundamentalist who is going to introduce Shari’a in all nooks and crannies of Nigeria, with a view to getting Christians to hate the man and vote against him, these supposed friends are making it look as if the President hasn’t achieved anything positive to market him with. Chief Femi Fani-Kayode is a leader I hold in deep esteem. But I am getting more and more disappointed in him these days, owing to the way he goes about disparaging Islam in the way he hurls insults on Buhari, as well as abusing the Hausa-Fulani for the same reason. No Muslim worth the name, for example, will be happy with Fani-Kayode’s description of Buhari’s behaviour as belonging to the “6th century Saudi Arabia,” as he did in his article entitled: Questions Buhari Must Answer, published in his column in this newspaper on December 15th, instant. Perhaps even worse is his quoting a pastor of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Bosun Emmanuel, whose sermon, as quoted by Fani- Kayode in his article entitled A word for Yemi Osinbajo, published on December 22nd, instant in this newspaper, as telling Christians not to have anything to do with Muslims. He quoted the pastor as saying, in his ‘famous sermon’ titled ‘The Nigerian Church’, that “woe be unto any believer who joins hands with the enemies of God in an attempt to bury the Church and destroy the gospel.” He was, in that article, trying hard to paint the vice-presidential candidate of the APC, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, in dark light for accepting to play “second fiddle” to a man who is a “notorious troubler of the (Christian) faith.” He added an unfortunate clincher: “woe unto the children of light that secretly delight in darkness and that seek to thwart the counsel of God for their nation by joining hands with the sons of Boko and the daughters of Haram.” |

Does CNN or FOX (or any other media outfit) don't do same? The new generations nigerians love half truths (or even lies) to massage some egos. Shiiooor!! 1 Like |

Mine shd be scenario 4: My wife and I both contribute our quota to d welfare of d household, kids and family projects. But she wants me to make every decision which could be burdensome sometimes. Most times she calls me to ask what to cook, which of our accounts she should lodge money (we have diff accounts but we both have access to all our atm cards and PINs). She even somtimes asks me what to do with her salary. I always encourage her to make at least some decisions without waiting for me but she won't budge. She believes all decisions that concerns us shd be made or sanctioned by me. This often wears me out but I'll marry her over again 3million times. 20 Likes 1 Share |

Crime / Woman Collapses, Dies While Giving A New Year Testimony In Church. by Slim101(m): 7:27am On Jan 03, 2014 |
Tragedy struck in Umuogwuta, Ndegwu, Owerri West local council area of Imo State, as a lady who was giving her testimony during the New Year service suddenly collapsed and died. A villager, who spoke to Vanguard on ground of anonymity, said: “The Lagos-based lady, Ifeoma Anozie, collapsed and died while giving her testimony inside Saint John’s Anglican Church, Ndegwu.” Vanguard also gathered that Ifeoma returned to her country home not to only give testimony about her achievements in the passing year, but also felicitate with her kith and kin. “The lady had hardly commenced her testimony when she suddenly slumped and died in front of the officiating cleric and left the congregation completely perplexed,” the villager said. Speaking also on the issue, a woman who simply identified herself as Felicia, lamented that what ordinarily should have been a double celebration for the Anozie family suddenly turned sour. “The church service was designed to be a double celebration for the Anozie family. It, however, turned out to be a tragedy for the family, the church and Ndegwu community,” Felicia lamented. Other villagers that also spoke to Vanguard, said ifeoma was a very promising young lady but none could guess she would die untimely. Although Vanguard could not ascertain the cause of death at press time, as no member of the immediate family could be reached for comments. However, the remains of the lady had been deposited in an undisclosed hospital morgue. Source: Vanguard Newspaper« |

Politics / Opeyemi Bamidele Resigns As Ekiti Reps Caucus Leader• by Slim101(m): 3:02pm On Oct 23, 2013 |
The leader of Ekiti State caucus in the House of Representatives, Honourable Opeyemi Bamidele, on Tuesday, tendered his resignation as the leader of the caucus, saying that his decision was to enable him pursue his aspiration to be governor of Ekiti State by 2014. Nigerian Tribune recalled that some months back, Honourable Bamidele was sacked by his five colleagues namely: Honourables Robinson Ajiboye, Bamidele Faparusi, Bimbo Daramola, Ifeoluwa Arowosoge and Oyetunde Ojo and the caucus subsequently named Ajiboye as its new leader. The action of the lawmakers was sequel to Honourable Bamidele’s open interest to contest the 2014 governorship election in the state. It took the intervention of the leadership of the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria to order the colleagues of Honourable Bamidele to rescind their decision, with clarification that the lawmaker had every right to contest the 2014 governorship election. Honourable Bamidele, in a statement issued in Abuja and made available to newsmen entitled: “Resignation as Ekiti caucus leader in the House of Representatives” thanked his colleagues for their support during his tenure as the caucus leader. The statement copied to Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, Speaker, Aminu Tambuwal and Femi Gbajabiamila, read in part: “I hereby resign, with immediate effect, my appointment as the leader of Ekiti State caucus in the House of Representatives of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. “This resignation has become a cogent and compelling step for me to take at this time to enable me pursue, by the special grace and uncommon favour of Almighty God, my aspiration to be governor of Ekiti State by 2014 based on my personal conviction and in response to the popular demand and clarion call of well-meaning Ekiti sons and daughters at home and in the diaspora who believe that our dear state needs a critical intervention at this time so as not to become a failed state. “I can no longer tarry in responding to the yearnings and aspirations of the violated children, the deserted youth, the disillusioned women, the unfulfilled civil and public servants, the neglected artisans, the jobless and underemployed men as well as the heart broken elder statesmen and frustrated founding fathers, who genuinely desire to see the emergence of a rallying point (across political and ideological divides) that would herald in a new and united Ekiti State where our past glory will be brought back from sabbatical,” the statement said. ogunteluwo: This is no more a new thing, instead of tackling the way out. Taking a disciple step like testing them before encamping them will give a sit up notice to them. And providing the consequences of not passing the Oral and writing test, like giving them no way to camp with the successful ones or repeating the camp the following year. I was once a victim of this but I went on researches to develop myself and God helped me. If I can improve, it means these people can improve too. It is a matter of willingness. Sorry, you don't sound eloquent yourself. |
