Sent you a mail. mobisola22: Please how can I get the link? I didn't receive a circular and my flight is tomorrow |
Travel › Re: Living In Canada/Life As A Canadian Immigrant Part 2 by slushy: 9:24am On Jan 26, 2021 |
Yes. KLM Nigeria has now issued a circular on the testing. You can get the 4 hours test at the airport. The cost is 28k. They also included a link where you can register before that day or you can also pay at the airport. Also was your PPR approved after 18 March? Dampops: They are confused as well. It’s a government directive so they have to comply even though most of the countries they operate from don’t do such tests at their airports. They may have to move customers to Air France where convenient. As at yesterday, they said they’re looking at ‘if the test can be done at the airport (in conjunction with one of the private labs).’ |

So where are you supposed to do the test? At the airport? Also is your COPR before or after March 18? Dampops: I called their (KLM )customer service and they confirmed it |

Wait o. For people travelling with the restrictions (post 18March COPR) are you not scared of any issues from IRCC later in the future? Like if they decide to fine everyone that flouted the restrictions or bounce people back to Naija |

I don’t think the amount of money stated as salary matters to IRCC as long as you have your POF. They just want to know that it was paid work. People have used only NYSC for experience and their pay was 19800. wale200: Good day my dear seniors.
Please pardon my question here.
If spouse is the PA and because of covid her salary was slashed. This has been her salary for more than 6 months now and it's clear on her statement of account.
My question is this. Which salary is it advisable for her to use? She feels the current salary is kinda small.
Thanks and may God bless all of you in Canada. We are coming to join you guys soon God willing. |

Since you just got PPR, is it not possible for you to wait out the 3 months so that she can give her notice right now? Given that it might take at least a month to get your passport back. Regardless, In response to the questions 1. I haven’t heard of it being compulsory for everyone to land together. Normally the PA can land first and others follow. The only rule is that the secondary applicants can’t land before the PA (except IRCC just changed rules which I doubt) 2. It’s possible to give payment in lieu of notice period. You can probably do your + and -. Maybe give 1 month notice then make payment for 2 months. With leave days and all, it might be almost the same thing as paying for flights twice and the hassle of soft landing. With the way things are slow now, if she softlands she might end up spending more than 3 months in Nigeria because processing of PR cards rn is so slow and they’ll need that to come back (Or PRTD which is even worse now wrt processing) seunpinky: Good day All,
I recently got PPR (family of 3). I am in a dilemma and I would appreciate your opinions as to which option to go with. My wife works with one of the Big 4s and she needs to give them 3months notice b4 resignation.
Option 1: I land alone, try to settle into the country and make adequate provisions for her and the kid. With this plan, wife and kid would come after her 3months notice period. However, someone told me that if I come alone, immigration may not allow them entry because I am the PA and that the PA is expected to travel with them.
Option 2: She applies for leave from work and We all come together but she and d kid do softlanding. They return back to Nigeria after spending one month and she drops her resignation letter and wait out the 3 months notice period. My issue with the second option is that we would have to spend money on flight twice..
Pls house I need your opinions

I don’t think you need accommodation booking. The only thing I know is that it’s now compulsory you have a return ticket. So you need visa, passport and ticket (I don’t know about bribe though. Didn’t have to do that). Also bear in mind that forex is scarce even in banks. So you might have to go well in advance to apply. I also know in December, GTbank restricted PTA to 2k per person and they like added all requests Monday -Wednesday and gave the cash on Thursday. Something like that. Plan accordingly. lasignor: You and your spouse can get up to $8k (max of 4k per person) at official rates from the bank as PTA (nigeria factor go dey, be ready tp bribe somebody, lol). You need to show your visas and passports plus confirmation of accommodation bookings. It's hard but like I said, if you know your way, you will get it lol. $8k should keep you going for a while. |

Hmm. You’re completely broke but you’re moving to Canada. If I may ask, under which program are you doing this? Express entry or student visa? If EE you should have your POF at least naw. Are there no conditions for people to come in on student visa and then postpone their studies since you say you’ll start studying in 6 months. Well, if you’re permitted to work, I’m sure you can find a “hold body” job while you search for a better one. Also you can get jobs without Canadian experience as long as you have demonstrable skills. Bravelady: I'm I'm moving to Canada in few months time (3-5month) and I'm very confused on what to do I'm completely broke right now, so when I get there I want to start something right away to make money to feed and do so many things. I plan to start studying after my 6months time
I'm thinking of learning photography in Nigeria, I would like to know how lucrative that is in Canada(Ontario/Toronto) if I should learn the skill.
I already have my sewing skills, and I'm thinking of starting that immediately I get there. I plan to buy Ankara, like 20pieces and when I get there start making children dresses and selling, but the problem here is I don't have any friends there and I don't know how i will start that immediately i get there Then I'm thinking I should look for a job there, but I'm not sure I would get job immediately because they usually ask of Canadian experience which I do not possess and I plan to do that when I get there as well |

Hi guys. Please I have some questions 1. If you receive the ready for visa email and don’t submit your passport for about 5 months because you didn’t see the email. Is there any recourse. 2. If this email was received in March pre covid can you plead the pandemic for not submitting your passport? Is the expectation that you have to raise a webform if you are unable to submit the passport? 3. Please is there any way to remedy this or the interested party has to start all over. Thanks guys. |

Hi All. Please I have 2 questions.
1. If I use my current ielts to create a profile, can I update the profile later when I write another ielts and get a better score? 2. I’m the primary applicant but my spouse is yet to get his evaluation and ielts. Can I create our profile now and update later when he gets these things.
Thanks for all your help. |

Path 1: Through CIMA and since you don’t have either ACCA or ICAN you will have to write all exams too athink. Path 2: Register directly for CPA. Write the exams, fulfil the requirements and get the designation. Either path; completion of ACCA, CIMA or direct CPA, I see exams waiting (Maybe a lot). It might even benefit you to go directly through CPA given that the MRA they have with ACCA and CIMA (that allows you convert without exams) is getting reviewed by March or so. I do not know how hard the CPA exam is though if you want to go the direct route. On the learning/school question, I’m sure there will be lecture centres because there are same for ACCA. There can even be a school where they teach with CPA in mind the way LSBF does for ACCA. You might need to surf the internet for that part. Hope it’s helpful! Lao4389: Good day Seniors, I'd like to make an enquiry (especially from finance professionals) on the best pathway to obtaining a CPA in Canada. I currently hold an Acca Diploma in Accounting and Business (F1-F3). And 8 years banking experience in Nigeria. Apart from continuing the ACCA papers and converting to CPA, are there other avenues to getting the CPA in Canada? Also, are there schools where one can enroll towards the CPA or its self study just like ACCA. Kindly advice. I'd love a mentor in this line |

kingkhalil: Morning seniors.
Got PPR and should be coming with my family by summer. Stuck between choosing Alberta and Ontario. I heard rents are cheaper in Alberta, the minimum wage is higher than ontario and they pay less taxes. However, I am concerned about job opportunities. Studied law and i don't know if there are readily available paralegal jobs in Alberta that i can do while i take steps to getting enrolled to their Bar. Wifey studied Economics, and is looking at Admin Roles whiles she gets additional qualifications.
So what do you advise? Ontario or Alberta? |

You’re giving up either wait time or money. You choose your demon. You can do medicals when you get an ITA (I think it’s not possible to do pre-ita anymore as the clinics ask for your ITA before booking) Contact Qlife or IOM. Choose the one that favors you based on the date they’ll give you and/or the cheaper option. Thecannylady: Good morning people. We are hoping to get ITA in the next draw with a CRS score of 476. When can we do medicals and which hospital is the most preferred one at the moment? We are in Ibadan so I know we have to travel to do it in Lagos. I will appreciate your responses. Thank you. |

I think option 3 is better. Dkberen: Please FAM, I need urgent help with gift deed matter. I am the PA and my husband's maternal uncle would be gifting us about 91% of the money. I have some questions as regards this and I need any advice or suggestions anyone can give: -Should he send the money into my account , hubby sends the remaining money to me while I support with gift deed stating he is my uncle-in-law? OR -Should hubby receive the money and his uncle signs a gift deed under his name. After which he writes me a letter of consent granting me access to account. OR Send to mother in-law who sends to me with a gift deed. Hubby transfers the rest of the money.
Please I need urgent help cos I'm really confused on what to do ATM. PS, I've done my research... nobody should send me to do it again ejo cos even my phone is tired of me |
