Politics › Police Move To Rescue Kidnapped Ex-Lawmaker In Imo by Slytiger(op): 2:27am On Sep 15, 2025 |
The Imo State Police Command has begun moves to rescue a former lawmaker, Ngozi Ogbu, currently held by suspected members of the Indigenous People of Biafra and the Eastern Security Network.
Ogbu, in a now viral video released on Saturday night, was seen appealing to the Imo State government and security agencies to immediately withdraw security operatives from a place called White House in Okigwe Local Government Area, which had come under the control of insurgents.
He had warned that if his request was not adhered to, his captors would kill him within four days.
The spokesperson for Imo Police Command, Henry Okoye, on Sunday evening confirmed that the police were aware of the video and the kidnapping of Ogbu, saying they had commenced a manhunt for his abductors.
According to him, the Commissioner of Police, Imo State Command, Aboki Danjuma, had already deployed Police tactical units working with other security agencies and had commenced a thorough investigation to apprehend the abductors of Ogbu.
Further, he said Ogbu had been held by IPOB and ESN members, adding that Ogbu was abducted at Onuimo Local Government Area of Imo State on Sunday, September 7th, 2025.
Okoye said, “The Imo State Police Command is aware of a viral video showing Hon. Ngozi Ogbu, former State Legislator who represented the Okigwe State Constituency, being held hostage by suspected IPOB/ESN terrorists.
“The Commissioner of Police, Imo State Command, CP Aboki Danjuma, has since ordered the immediate deployment of the Command’s Tactical Units, in synergy with other security agencies, and a detailed investigation has been launched to apprehend the hoodlums and ensure the safe rescue of the lawmaker who was abducted at Onuimo on 07/09/2025”.
The command appealed to members of the general public to remain calm and vigilant, adding that anyone with useful information that can aid their ongoing investigation should immediately reach the police via 0803 477 3600 or report at the nearest Police Station.
The Police assured Imo residents that they will not relent until they nab the perpetrators of Ogbu’s kidnap and ensure that he is safely reunited with his family.
The video, which was shared across social media handles on Saturday night, saw Ogbu begging government authorities to immediately withdraw the Ebubeagu security operatives stationed at White House in Okigwe.
According to Ogbu, a former local government Chairman and lawmaker, failure to comply with his request will result in his death within four days at the hands of his abductors.
In the video, a masked member of the Biafra Liberation Army expressed annoyance that their leader, Gentle, was poisoned and warned that if the security operatives were not withdrawn, they would kidnap and kill more people.
In another video, a member of the group said Ogbu was one of those who brought Ebubeagu operatives to the land and warned that they would unleash terror. https://punchng.com/police-move-to-rescue-kidnapped-ex-lawmaker-in-imo/

Apcshit: Why are they protesting against immigrants? UK was the country that prevented Biafra It was Azikwe. Dear Amaka,
Thank you for your feedback. You have two people to blame for Nigeria's indissolubility.
Chief Obafemi Awolowo mooted the idea of a secession clause in 1954 during the Lagos Constitutional Conference, but Nnamdi Azikiwe rejected it, galvanising a majority of the conference attendees to kill the idea.
After this was rejected, Chief Awolowo again wrote to the then Governor General of Nigeria, who rejected the clause because the majority, led by Nnamdi Azikiwe, did not support it.
A year before Awolowo tried to get a secession clause into the Constitution, Nnamdi Azikiwe had threatened Northern Nigeria with war if they tried to secede from Nigeria at a speech he gave on Monday, May 12, 1953. Please find below a quote from that speech:
"It may lead to economic nationalism in the Eastern Region, which can pursue a policy of blockade of the North, by refusing it access to the sea, over and under the River Niger, except upon payment of tolls."
Because of Nnamdi Azikiwe, section 86 was inserted into our constitution with the proviso that if any region should secede, it would be an act of treason.
Just a year before Biafra tried to break away from Nigeria on Tuesday, May 30, 1967, Isaac Boro tried secession by declaring the Niger Delta Republic on February 23, 1966.
Please fact-check me: Colonel Ojukwu first sent troops to quash Boro's rebellion. When he could not overwhelm Boro's Niger Delta Volunteer Force, he requested for federal troops, and Major General Aguiyi-Ironsi granted his request and sent soldiers to Ijaw land on February 27, 1966, following which Boro was captured and sentenced.
The then Head of State, Major General Johnson Aguiyi-Ironsi, quashed what he called the Isaac Boro mutiny using primarily troops of Eastern Nigeria origin.
So if Ojukwu and Ironsi did that to the Ijaws, how then would you want the Gowon administration and future governments to let Eastern/Southeast Nigeria secede?
That set the precedent for indissolubility under the military.
Therefore, Amaka, if you are looking for anyone to blame, please turn your attention to Azikiwe and Ironsi.
Thanks again, and may God bless you.

Politics › Soludo’s Wife Challenges Senator Ekwunife To Public Oath Over Infidelity Claims by Slytiger(op): 6:50pm On Sep 13, 2025 |
Wife of Anambra Governor, Mrs Nonye Soludo, has issued a dramatic challenge to Senator Uche Ekwunife, urging both of them to take an oath of fidelity before the Blessed Virgin Mary and to subject their children to paternity tests.
In a statement released on Saturday in Awka, Mrs Soludo accused the senator of fabricating allegations and dragging her children into political disputes.
She described Ekwunife’s conduct as “malicious” and warned that legal action would follow unless the lawmaker withdrew her claims and apologised within 72 hours.
Mrs Soludo said a public oath would help settle questions of character once and for all.
“Since Uche Ekwunife claims to be a converted Catholic, I challenge her to swear an oath of fidelity and chastity at any cathedral in front of the Blessed Sacrament and the Bible.
“I will swear (with my children) that in my 55 years on earth, I have known only one man—Chukwuma Soludo. On your part, you should also swear (with your children or your political ambitions) that since you got married, you have never cheated on your husband.”
The governor’s wife also invited Senator Ekwunife to scientific verification through DNA testing.
“I challenge you, Uche Ekwunife, for us to subject our children to paternity tests in three reputable hospitals in London. I will pay all the expenses, including travel for you and your family,” she said.
She added that if the results confirmed that Ekwunife’s husband fathered all her children, she would not only congratulate her but also present a cash award.
Describing herself as a quiet family woman, Mrs. Soludo stressed her Christian and conservative upbringing.
“I married him as a virgin and my fidelity to him in 33 years of marriage and for life is ironclad,” she asserted.
She further noted that she had never worked for government nor depended on public funds, even as First Lady of Anambra State.
Vowing to sustain her defence with dignity, Mrs. Soludo likened the clash with Senator Ekwunife to a long-distance race. “My weapons are decency, character, and grace. I am a long-distance runner, and I welcome you to the marathon,” she said.
In her swift response, Senator Uche Ekwunife, who is the deputy governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the State, advised Mrs. Soludo that explanations about the paternity of her children should be directed solely to her husband, Governor Soludo, and not to the public or political opponents.
Senator Ekwunife criticised Mrs. Soludo for attempting to publicly justify her chastity, fidelity, and virginity amid the ongoing controversy.
She emphasised that such deeply personal matters are private and pertain only to her husband. “Mrs. Soludo should refrain from dragging me into her family’s private affairs.
“If the Governor has doubts regarding the paternity of his children, he should seek a DNA test himself. Mrs. Soludo should have the courage to undergo such a test to establish the truth,” Ekwunife stated.
The senator further maintained that Mrs. Soludo’s attempts to involve others in what is essentially a private family issue do not advance the conversation and only serve to politicise personal matters unnecessarily.
"Challenging me or others to prove her chastity or fidelity is baseless. Her explanations are owed only to her husband, and any attempt to politicize this is misplaced,” Ekwunife replied via statement.
Nigerian Tribune gathered that the confrontation between the women traces back to Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s questions over Senator Ekwunife’s academic qualifications. https://tribuneonlineng.com/soludos-wife-challenges-senator-ekwunife-to-public-oath-over-infidelity-claims/Nlfpmod
