Education › JAMB: Ohanaeze Rejects Resit Exam, Demands 300 Scores For South East Candidates by Slytiger(op): 2:53pm On May 15, 2025 |
Youth wing of apex Igbo socio-cultural organisation, Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide has described as unacceptable the decision by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB, to fix a fresh examination for those affected by what it called errors in the recently released results.
JAMB Registrar, Prof Ishaq Oloyede, had on Wednesday admitted that errors led to the low score of candidates in the five South-East states and Lagos State.
The Board then said arrangement had commenced to reschedule the exam for the affected candidates.
But, in a statement made available to journalists on Thursday, the National President of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide, Mazi Okwu Nnabuike said the arrangement was totally unacceptable.
Okwu said it was a disservice for JAMB to subject the candidates to “another round of mental torture, stress and risk” for not fault of theirs.
“We want to state unequivocally that our people will not accept any fresh examination, having already been subjected to mental torture by JAMB.
“The candidates are not in the right frame of mind to undergo another examination, having been faced mental torture ever since the fake results were announced.
“Besides, who is going to bear the cost? The same parents who are facing severe financial challenges?
“What of the risk of moving to the examination locations, in a country ravaged by insecurity?” Okwu queried.
He declared that, “having said this, we demand that JAMB should allocate 300 score to all the South-East candidates affected by its own error not that of the candidates. Igbos are very brilliant people and could have made 300 and above.
“It was a deliberate design to punish the people of the South-East, clearly to deny them education opportunities.
“Should JAMB fail to heed to our request, we shall not hesitate to drag them to court, no form of crocodile tears by the Registrar will save the Board.” https://dailypost.ng/2025/05/15/jamb-ohanaeze-rejects-resit-exam-demands-300-scores-for-seast-candidates/

Politics › No House of Reps Member Receives Less Than ₦1bn For Constituency Project by Slytiger(op): 2:44pm On May 15, 2025 |
APC chieftain claims Tinubu increased Reps’ constituency project allowance from N200m to N1bn after subsidy removalAyodele Asalu, A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State has claimed that the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has increased House of Representatives consistency project allow from N200 to N1 billion after subsidy removal.
Constituency allowances are the funds released by the federal to each lawmaker which is meant to address socio-economic challenges in their immediate constituencies. It is also meant to support rural development efforts.
Asalu, who is a former Reps aspirant for Ede/Egbedore/Ejigbo Federal Constituency in the state made the claim while speaking at a recent meeting with his supporters and member of the APC.
Speaking in a video sighted by IntelRegion, the politician said no member of the House of Representatives now receives less than N1 billion for constituency projects, which is a sharp rise from previous allocations that were as low as N200 million, adding that, Senators, on the other hand, now get nothing less than N2 billion.
“Before 2024, it wasn’t like this. “But after subsidy removal, federal allocations to states increased—and so did lawmakers’ project funds. If you see a lawmaker executing projects, don’t be fooled into thinking it’s from their personal pocket, he spoke in Yoruba.
The ex-Reps aspirant praised Tinubu’s administration for the upward review, stating that the move was intended to make life easier for citizens by empowering lawmakers to deliver more developmental projects.
“Take Osun State as an example, before now, an Honourable member’s allowance was less than N200 million. Today, nobody gets less than N1 billion. And no senator operates with less than N2 billion. These are facts, not exposés,” he said.
He, however, didn’t specify if the money is monthly or annually.
A similar revelation was made by, a senator representing Delta North Senatorial District, Ned Nwoko, in March 2024, who claimed that he received more than N1 billion for constituency projects in the 2024 budget.
“Senators get what they lobby for, not because they have the right to it. Everybody just goes about doing what they can do for their constituencies and senatorial districts.
“A better approach would have been for senatorial uniformity. So if they say that everyone should get about N1 billion, be it. But this way, you rely on your weight and contacts to see what you can get for your people.
“We are not talking about money for the senators. This is for projects within our senatorial districts. If you have road, water, or training programmes, all should aggregate to a particular amount,” he said.
Asked if he got as much as N1 billion in allocation, the senator replied, “Of course, I did. That’s why I am who I am. But these are projects for my people.” https://www.intelregion.com/news/apc-chieftain-claims-tinubu-increased-reps-constituency-project-allowance-from-n200m-to-n1bn-after/

These two organizations are time wasters of Nigerian youth. One will stay at home for years writing Jamb, while those who know road and have long keg have entered school, same with NYSC waiting to be mobilized and wasting one year serving.
Meanwhile abroad at 25 most people who want to go to school have graduated and are working and usually married, their counterpart in Nigeria are still writing Jamb and trying to go for NYSC.
So you see your age mates abroad retire early and starts traveling the world on Vacation while in Nigeria at 40 people are still claiming youth. These are because of these Jamb and NYSC delays

Politics › Tinubu’s Economic Reforms Making Nigeria More Investible — UK Envoy by Slytiger(op): 4:21pm On May 14, 2025 |
ABUJA — The British High Commissioner to Nigeria, Richard Montgomery, has praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s economic reforms, describing them as “big and bold” initiatives that have transformed Nigeria into a more attractive destination for investors.
Speaking at a press briefing in Abuja on Wednesday, Montgomery acknowledged that the UK’s interest in Nigeria is growing, citing the positive impact of recent economic policies.
“I’ve been very public previously about commending the big and bold economic reforms being taken by His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu,” Montgomery stated.
Highlighting key policy changes, he pointed to the abolition of fuel subsidies and the unification of the exchange rate system as crucial steps toward economic stability.
According to him, these measures are already yielding results, positioning Nigeria as a more “investible” nation.
“My headline this morning is that these economic reforms are paying off, and they are now making Nigeria more investible,” he added.
Montgomery, however, acknowledged the economic strain on Nigerians due to rising inflation, currently hovering in the mid-20 percent range. He noted that while the reforms are transformative, their benefits might take time to materialize fully.
“I realise that some of these reforms for ordinary people are painful. Inflation is still high, it’s in the 20 percent territory, the mid-20s. And it’s going to take time to bring that rate down,” he remarked.
Despite the current economic challenges, the High Commissioner expressed optimism, predicting that inflation rates would begin to ease over the coming months and years, further solidifying Nigeria’s position as an attractive investment hub.

thatigboman: it didn't start in 2014, it started in 1960 engineered by awolowo Liar. Tribalism started by nnamdi Azikiwe in the 1940s. https://www.nairaland.com/7629122/nnamdi-azikwe-really-bigot-tribalisticIbrahimcoomasie: Early politicians of the 30s, 40s, Chiefs among them are mostly talented in writing and journalism and some owned media outfits, with which they laud and inflate their egos while simultaneously deflating d profile of those they disagree with in the political firmament.
Herbert Macaulay (A Yoruba man), the Father of Nigerian Nationalism, also a journalist was fond of calling dissenting voices 'imperialism agents' but ZIK took it to an elevated proportion, re-christened it to 'imperial stooges', 'Uncle Toms' and 'aunty Jememas', even those whose patriotism and Nationalism had never been in doubt were so named; minor disagreements and you are blacklisted. ZIK had a Newspaper outlet, 'the Pilot', a tool he creatively used to maximum advantage. The editors would daily eulogize him for d basics, and sometimes for the hitherto unknown and unheard of good things for Nigeria, nay, 'Mother Africa', Some of them acclaimed him as d 'Ghandi of Africa' and others declared that ZIK deeds had 'eleczik-ified' them.
ZIK was obviously very gifted, intelligent and clever which manifested in his works; however, he was regarded by many of his peers as the 1st consummate propagandist that Nigeria ever produced. In inflating his own ego or deflating that of his rivals, publications on the Pilot observed neither modesty nor reck. In this connection, he was in direct line of succession to Herbet Macaulay, but like all sons who are worthy of their parentage, in this respect, ZIK outdid Herbert Macaulay, for he took propaganda several notches higher with a slant of deep seated tribalism.
For example, when the ban on Palm Kernel was imposed, the Pilot supported it and reported thus: "the measure by the Government is fair. Instead of reducing the whole country to poverty, only the Western provinces will be affected and they can switch over to other avenues, to make body and soul live." He held similar stance as to the agitation against the 'Cocoa Pool'.
ZIK brazenly supported a policy which clearly threatened the livelihood of the Yorubas. Were the East on the receiving end here, ZIK would have dipped pen in gall, and crafted a creatively worded opinion on the Pilot, denouncing the Cocoa Pool as an 'imperialist device or stratagem whose aim, object and purpose was to oppress, repress, depress and distress Nigerian Cocoa producers and dealers economically' and he would have replicated same for d ban on palm kernels in d West. He would have labeled it 'a gross betrayal of trust, an indelible stain, blemish and stigma on British imperialism; a vain attempt, a complete misfire and a palpable boner in the realm of divide et impera.' Pardon my poor attempt at replicating ZIK's creative writing genius, he many a time used such strong words.
ZIK took this tribalist venom to higher Plateau when he graced the front page of the Pilot, and entitled it 'Football Iliad, 1940 Edition' what many described as a shocker, a big step forward in an insidious campaign colored in Bigotry. A football match between 2 schools, Christ the King's college, Onitsha was hosted by St. Gregory's college in Lagos, in a match tagged 'Win the War'.
The CKC team from Onitsha defeated St Gregory's team by 5 goals to 4. Spectators had a good watch, even the host considered the match very entertaining, a bonding moment for teams made up of teenagers of different cultures, that afterall is the spirit of sport.
But how did ZIK report it? ZIK saw in the sporting exploits and triumph of the team from Onitsha the inherent superiority of the Ibos over the Yorubas and he went to very great pains to establish this in d careful choice of words and emphasis..
"And then to think of the great combination of d Spartan heroes who crossed her loudly Niger, journeyed through the good earth of Benin, hurried across the domains of the Oshemawe of Ondo, of the Atanla of Owo, of the Owa of Ilesha, of the Ooni of Ife, of the Alake of Abeokuta in their invasion of these islands!
Who, but heroes of mighty brawn and exceptionally developed brain would have dared to make this invasion and to succeed in carrying to their River Niger home, the Golden fleece of Inter-Collegiate Soccer Championship of d Eastern and Western Provinces?"
https://twitter.com/LegendaryJoe/status/1638066082652012545?t=kX5tAe6CJgjxafLLfDYiPQ&s=19

CONT'D
...Such was the mocking tone with which ZIK described an innocent football match with a slant of superiority complex.
But the same CKC team met the Olubadan XI, an undiluted Yoruba team in another 'Win the War' match on 24 August 1940 and were roundly defeated 3-2.
It may just be a matter of coincidence that ZIK wasn't in the mood to write at the time or perhaps he suffered what we call 'Writer's Block', because for more than 2 weeks, this headline event never got reported on the Pilot. And when the paper finally wrote on it, it was only a small item on the back page, like a mistress smuggled out of the window at the arrival of the madam of the house..and was laced with excuses,
"the CKC team was already tired; some of the players were in fact limping before the match",
and other calculated efforts to avoid giving the yoruba boys their well deserved accolade, and extreme energy was exerted in ensuring the brilliance and talent of those little yoruba boys was never acknowledged.
This was but tip of the Iceberg, ZIK would go full scale Bigotry afterwards.
Shall I Begin?
The Ibos were given inordinate publicity on the pages of the paper, which I regard as appropriate and in order, to promote one's root..but at a time when other Nationalists made concerted efforts in describing citizens of Nigeria as Nigerians or Africans and celebrated their laurels and feats as credits to Nigeria and Africa as a whole, ZIK would jettison the whole for the particular and elevate Ibo over and above every other tribe and largely over Nigeria as an entity, and in a manner that smirked Ego inspired Hate.
Typical Front Page news title in the Pilot this time were;
1. 'Ibo Young man Sail to U.K.' Sept 23, 1938. Referring to Mr. Jaja Wachukwu, who later became Speaker of Houe of Rep.
2. '14th West African Student, 10th Nigerian, 8th Ibo in U.S.A.' Jan 28, 1939. The 8th Ibo was Mr. Nwafor Orizu, later became Senator.
3. 'Ibo Medical Student Passes Exam in 1st Class Honours.' June 26, 1940. That was Dr. S.O. Eguwatu.
And some weird editorials like:
'The Ibo Are Coming' Dec 31, 1938, Wondered what ZIK meant, but the title is indicative enough of some theory of domination.
These are but very few examples of deliberate actions of ZIK in portraying the perceived supremacy of the Ibos over others, for the Pilot never beamed the light on the achievements of Nigerians of other ethnic stock...
For example, when the Ph.D. degree of London University, indeed any university for that matter, was conferred on the first Nigerian ever, such historic success was only given a small space in the paper and the title read: 'Nigerian Economist passes Ph.D. London', because that scholar was Dr. Fadipe, a Yoruba.

Amalekki: How does Oranmiyan being in possession of and moving to Oyo with the Sword of Mercy translate into "Alaafin had to collect Ada and Abere from Ife.." ?? The book says he proceeds to Oranmiyan shrine where the Ada and Abere are brought from Ife and handed over to him as part of the coronation rites without which he has no authority to order an execution. Amalekki: On the other picture.
That was a picture angle from the first ever meeting of the Obas in the old western region. Quite instructively, it was not held at the regional capital, Ibadan. It was held in Oyo at the palace of the Alaafin of Oyo. There was no superiority debate at that point, it was just kings of separate kingdoms coming together in a meeting for the first time ever.
They sat, wined and dined together as brother Obas at Oyo palace. No consideration for future scoring of cheap points was part of the equation at that point. Things changed much later. That was before the creation of the Western region in 1939. There was no debate because the Ooni was acknowledged by all present as the head. See page 2 of screenshot. It's from the conference of Yoruba chiefs held on March 31st, 1937. Excerpts from the proceeding at the conference below. The document even talks about their sitting arrangement. cc: DelilahMakinde Christistruth02 Nairavsdollars
