basilo101:WHAT ABOUT THE IBO(ANAMBRA)FARMERS THAT WERE DURING LAGOS BETWEEN PEOPLE OF KOGI N ANAMBRA OVER OIL WELL.. ON WHOSE SOIL? AWKA—FOUR persons from Aguleri, Anambra East local government area were killed on Monday, while seven others were seriously injured in a renewed clash between the people of Aguleri and Echeno/ Odeke in Ibaji local government area of Kogi State. The two border communities have been laying claims to the oil deposits on the Omambala River basin. The clashes became more pronounced shortly after the commissioning of Orient Petroleum Refinery at Aguleri Otu in Anambra State by President Goodluck Jonathan last year. Casualty figures on the Kogi side could not be ascertained at press time, although it was gathered that the people of Aguleri were taken unawares by the Kogi fighters. Vanguard gathered that the latest clash, which occurred at about 3.00pm on Monday, involved the use of sophisticated weapons, even in the presence of security operatives guarding the buffer zone created by the National Boundary Commission in the area to forestall clashes between the warring communities. It was also gathered that one of the mobile policemen guarding the buffer zone had allegedly informed Kogi people that Aguleri people were at the disputed area, adding that shortly after, Kogi people came in large numbers, armed with dangerous weapons, including automatic rifles usually handled by security operatives. Monday’s attack came on the heels of a peace committee meeting held between the communities last week at Idah in Kogi State, where the people of Aguleri expressed surprise yesterday that some people at Odeke were not prepared to see peace return to the area. Anambra Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Mr. Emeka Chukwuemeka, confirmed the incident, but declined to give the casualty figures. According to him, the matter is being investigated at the highest level of security and will be premature for him to make statement on the clash. Following the frequent clashes in the area, the National Boundary Commission had met with the deputy governors of the two states on many occasions for the purpose of finding a lasting solution to the border problem. At the last meeting chaired by the Director General of the National Boundary Commission, Dr. M.B. Ahmad, with the deputy governors of the two states and a representative of the surveyor general of the federation in attendance, it was noted that the Anambra/Kogi interstate boundary was the boundary of the former Northern and Eastern regions described in the legal notice No 126 of 1954. However, the people of Kogi were said to be insisting that despite the demarcated boundary between the old Kabba and old Onitsha provinces, the oil deposits in Omambala River belong to them. www.vanguardngr.com/2014/07/4-killed-7-injured-renewed-clash-oil-anambrakogi-border/ |

ASABA- THE Niger Delta People Salvation Front /Niger Delta People Volunteer Force, (,NDPSF/NDPVF, led by Alhaji Mujahid Dokubo-Asari have described the emergence of President-elect, Gen Muhammadu Buhari in the presidential election as a conspiracy of the North/ Yoruba against the Niger Delta, South East and Middle Belt. The groups in a statement by Mr Rex Anighoro said, “It is not a victory of the people, but victory of regional conspiracy and supremacy.” “It clearly reinforces the fact of self determination and the truth that Nigeria remains a very divided and separated entity whose claim to unity remains a fraud of gargantuan proportion,” they asserted. They said: “The voting pattern has clearly shown that the Gambari North and the Yorubas are united in the conquest of the Niger Deltans and the Igbos of defunct Biafra with the Middle Belt now used as pawns. We remain a people separated by our ideologies and interests, we are not integrated nor reconciled.” The groups asserted: “The conditions that advanced the need to embrace the creeks have been sadly re -energised, it is clear that a vicious government who may maim and murder the voice of the so called minorities may have just been birthed. Indeed integration is nonexistent as regional gang ups and supremacy is symbolic with this victory. ” “The victory of Muhammadu Buhari is a historical reminder that we are a conquered people who are mere appendages existing at the pleasure of the supremacist and the regional overlords. “We salute the gallantry and courage of Elder Godsday Orubebe, who spoke the truth to power on fact f our collective existence in this colonial union of convenience. He need not apologise to be politically correct having demonstrated to the world what a deception the Nigerian union is,” they said. According to them, “While President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan enjoys his moments and bask in the euphoria of a now world renowned statesman having congratulated Muhammadu Buhari, his conqueror, we must quickly remind that our struggle was never about Jonathan nor about Presidency. President Goodluck Jonathan was an establishment beneficiary of our struggle, our sweat and blood that many bled and died for.” “He was never in the struggle and he can never wish away our collective march forward for statesmanship. Yes, indeed to an extent, he was a mitigating factor in self determination pursuit as we went on sabbatical, this mitigation he seems to have willingly repudiated. “The days coming will be critical, we shall study all the conditions and consult widely before determining the way going forward for our collective existence and survival as a people. The days coming shall either drive the quest of integration or further separate us,” they added. www.vanguardngr.com/2015/04/buhari-victory-is-northyoruba-gang-up-against-n-delta-igbo-middle-belt-groups/ |

Disturbed by years of non infrastructural decay and poor economic development in his state, Ebonyi which over the years had denied the youths gainful employments and also turned them into street and highway hawkers in Nigeria, Chief Solomon Ogbonna, the youngest prolific artwork collector, culture and great traditionalist, in this interview with Saturday Vanguard Business, frowned at the inability of successive government in the state to develop Ebonyi. Against this backdrop,he implored Ndigbo both home and diaspora to unite as on indivisible force before thinking of ruling Nigeria. Excerpts: At the moment, Ebonyi people are seriously clamouring for infrastructural development as a means to end hawking among their youths, do you agree with them? It’s quiet unfortunate and shameful that if you are driving along the streets in Lagos particularly on highways and you approach any of those hawkers’ they will tell you they are from Ebonyi state. Also, if you decide to communicate to them in their language, they will respond accordingly, an indication that confirms their honesty. I’m disappointed and angry with those who had governed the state, particularly, with their self-centredness. They were only concerned with immediate members of their families, taking their children abroad for education and holidays with state allocations meant for infrastructural development, job creation, skill acquisition, youth empowerment among others. These are laudable projects that would take the state to advance level if government had actually invested in them. There are a lot of job opportunities Ebonyi state government can explore in order to reduce unemployment and stop hawking which has become a culture among Ebonyi youths mainly because past leadership refused to create jobs for them. Government should be held responsible for this deprivation of gainful employment among youths. If you visit Ebonyi state now, you can’t find owned or established by government that can provide jobs, be it skilled or unskilled labour. Moreso, the state does not have any recreation centre that would enable youths develop their talents for competitions both nationally or internationally. I’m an artwork collector not an artist. But atleast, I sketch for my artist before he goes on with his artistic work. Most of them follow my directives considering my experience on Igbo artwork, Yoruba, Benin and Hausa artworks. Before now, I have been clamouring for government assistance to build a museum centre and a workshop for artwork that would attract tourism in Ebonyi state as this would help to create jobs for youths. This singular effort had been rebuffed by past governors. At the moment, the only place that looks as if human beings are living is government house. Other places are horrible sight. The worse place in Benin Republic could be compared to Ebonyi state. Today, Ebonyi state record the highest number of teenage hawkers in major cities in Nigeria. There is no reasonable impact on economic development. Those who had governored the state had only succeeded in enriching themselves and their cronies. Go to Ebonyi hotel formerly Moritel hotel which was bought from former vice President, Alex Akwueme. Most people who have been working there for years, most of earn N25,000 to N30,000 monthly. Some of them are married. What can that paltry sum of money achieve. I don’t know how people can be wicked to their citizens. Ironically most of these government officials had made several trips to abroad and see how government over there developed their countries, but some of our leaders are not ready to apply what they saw there. From what you are seeing, do you see the chances of Igbos ruling Nigeria? With God all things are possible. Our people are intelligent, educated, wise and exposed. But the self-centred attitude in them causes disunity among them. With disunity in their midst, it will be difficult for Ndigbo to rule Nigeria if they can’t unite themselves because unity is power and without it you can’t achieve a purpose. The issue is that, the Anambra indigene will be claiming superiority over Enugu indigene. This superiority complex has rub-off-on virtually all the eastern states. So when you don’t unite, how do you form a good family to speak with one voice. Before you lead a people, you must put your house in order. One peculiar characteristics of Igbos is that they worship past heroes. For instance, Odimegwu Ojukwu, relation to Ojukwu, those past wealthy men who had made name 50 years ago still hold sway till date. If you are not from those lineages, an Igboman in leadership will not want to listen to you or even come closer. The success of the Yoruba is because they respect their culture which is embedded in their language. Irrespective of your status when you approach Yoruba leaders in their language, they welcome you and listen your message but it’s not so with Igbos. It must be those wealthy ones. This should not be so. We must listen to everybody before we draw conclusion. Somebody like me as an artwork collector, I stand to be corrected, there is no Igboman that has African artwork more than me presently, both ancient, modern, in bronze, bead and other artifice. Recently, I presented one of the most expensive masterpiece artwork to the President’s wife including Pius Anyim. But I’m not a proud man. As an artwork collector, I have sponsored more than 500 Nigerians to international art exhibitions and empowerment programme in Nigeria to promote unity as one Nigeria and human race. But during this period I had difficulties in making contact to see the President. All the Igbos I approached before then will first want to know whether I’m from Azikiwe family or from Anambra before they could render any help. Whether anybody believe it not, President Goodluck Jonathan is God’s sent to Nigeria and he is God-fearing. I pray he wins again to continue the good work. Today, I give kudos to persons like Ebutu Ukaiwe, being one among others who is unique and accommodating without discrimination in his dealing with fellow human being. Peter Obi has a listening hears and is humble even if he is not going to adhere to your advice, but he listens. As a building developer, how do you see housing scheme in the country? I’m a developer. But can any government that attempt what Jakende did in terms of housing scheme in Lagos. He built housing estates for the masses, and till date, the masses are still enjoying it. I want a government that can replicate that feat so that the increasing population of Nigerian citizens can have shelta at affordable rates. But the challenge is that some people in government who have stored money for themselves would want a plot of land in Parkview and Lekki to go for N1b so that they will be the class that would have assess to such areas. And it doesn’t bother them whether the common people are living in Cotonou, spending all their salaries on transport to their work places in Lagos. They will push the masses to Ijebu Ode and other areas and at the end of it all, you will be left without savings at the end of every month. Majority of these people were pushed to remote areas with their children engaging in hawking in Lagos streets, prostituting in order to pay school fees. There is no effort to provide low housing scheme for the masses. Look at all the estates built by Jakende targeted at the masses. www.vanguardngr.com/2015/03/ebonyi-records-huge-number-of-teenage-hawkers-in-nigeria-ogbonna-says-ndigbo-cant-rule-nigeria-now/ |

OneNaira6:SEE SON OF A MAN. MAJORITY OF ARM ROBBERS IN SOUTH WEST ARE IBO. USING 2×2 SHOPS TO COVER UP AS A GENTLE BEING. YOU FORGET THAT OKONJO IWEALA IS A CORRUPT PERSONNEL South East www.vanguardngr.com/2012/08/938-persons-kidnapped-in-8-months-in-south-east-cd/ Onitsha (Anambra) – No fewer than 938 prominent sons and daughters of the South East zone are alleged to have been kidnapped between January 2008 and August 2012, a civil society group, Campaign for Democracy (CD), has said. Police authorities, however, disagreed with the figures, saying it was the figment of the imagination of the group that released the figures. In a statement signed by Mr Uzor Uzor and Dr Jerry Chukwuokolo, the CD chairman and secretary respectively in the South East, said the kidnapped persons paid ransoms said to be valued at about N1.2 billion during the period. The statement also said that kidnappers collected substantial amounts from their victims ranging from N5 million to N30 million per individual. “Anambra State has the highest incidence of kidnapping of 273 persons, especially within the commercial axis of Onitsha and Nnewi. And it is happening at a constant rate for over five years now. “Imo State with the current up-surge in kidnapping incidence has recorded 265 cases, while its residence is living in heightened fear. “Abia follows behind with 215 persons so far; although the incidences of kidnapping had continued to reduce for some months now after the death of a notorious kidnapper called Osisikankwu. “Enugu has recorded 95 cases in the past five years. However, the state has recorded the highest in abduction of government officials. “Ebonyi is the least of all the five states in the South-east. It has recorded 90 cases so far officially. However, apart from kidnapping the state is laden with communal crisis,’’ it said. The statement maintained that there was a need to take decisive actions to checkmate the spate of kidnapping in the zone. “One practical way of doing it is the demolition of established structures or buildings used by kidnappers to advance their operations. “The governors in the zone must work in synergy to address the issue of security and draft laws that would stiffen the penalties for kidnapping and other related offences,’’ the CD said. The group gave the South-east governors’ forum till the end of October 2012 to address the up- surge in kidnapping and restore the confidence of foreign investors to the zone. Contacted, the Deputy Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Frank Mba, described CD’s figures as a figment of their imagination. He said that the police was the statutory authority to issue the number of persons kidnapped in an area. He, however, raised some questions over the CD’s statement: “What is the source of their information? What is the methodology of obtaining the figures? Do the CD work with the kidnappers or did the kidnappers render account to them?’’ “Not until they verify from the police, the figures and the amount they gave make no sense,’’ Mba said. (NAN) |

IBO AND KIDNAPPING IBO AND COUNTERFEIT GOODS dailyindependentnig.com/2014/01/orji-lauds-u-s-for-lifting-travel-ban-on-citizens/ Abia State governor , Theodore Orji, has applauded the United States (U . S. ) government for lifting the travelling ban imposed on har citizens owing to the spate of kidnapping and violent crimes in the South East and South South regions of Nigeria . Speaking through his Chief Press Secretary, Charles Ajunwa, the governor maintained that though the state waded through the security situation and secured the future of the area, yet , the scar of the era was still being felt . He stressed that the ban on her citizens travelling to the region mostly affected Abia , which had started welcoming foreign investors with scores of them coming from the United States of America and her allies . The governor pointed out that his few visits to the US where he addressed investors yielded fruits , which were deterred by the ban because of insecurity , but expressed the hope that the lifting of the ban would redress the anomaly . According to him, the state had welcomed several investors in agriculture, petroleum and allied products , housing and telecommunication , among other fields, saying that Abia enjoys comparative advantage over others . He explained that the lifting of the ban will now afford US citizens “ to come to Abia and other neighbouring states to do business as a result of the heightened peace and security , especially in Abia State today.” “ Government is happy with the development. We have done well in the area of security and peaceful co-existence in the state . We have laid the solid foundation for development in the state . We are not relenting. “ The relaxation of the ban is a clear testimony that the government has done very well to boost security . “ We will continue to do our best to ensure that security and peace in the state are sustained by the government .” |
