I have no dog in this race cos I'm atheist but I don't see how this pertains to anything. Jerry Eze wears what he's comfortable with and these ones here are wearing what they like. Would you wear babaringa to swim cos u saw a pastor do it? Who decides what one wear?
Is it not then obvious that you can't possibly understand the context of this discussion, which pertains to Christian values?

Politics › Re: Igbos Problem Is Challenging The British Real Estate Called Nigeria - Sowore by SmartyPants(m): 12:39pm On Feb 19, 2025
aariwa:
Racists everywhere including British racists hate to see bold , innovative and smart black people . What British racists did to Igbos is same thing American racists did when they burned the black Wall Street down, killing all the black peoples that set up that amazing enterprise in Tulsa Oklahoma in the 1930s. The technological advancement started by Japan after the world war 2 which spread to the rest of Asia 50 years after was what Igbos could have done for the black world. Igbos met the white people late around 1891 about 300 years after other parts of Nigeria have had access to whites but in a space of 40 years Igbos have overtaken every other tribe in all spheres. There is a video from 1962 where Ahmadu Bello attested to this complaining bitterly about Igbo dominance but instead of the British to encourage the technologically inclined and smart tribe, they felt threatened and the rest they say is history. Go and Read the book “ In Biafra black Africa Died” and you will ask yourself what progress have Nigeria made with the abundant human and natural resources since they removed Igbo from power? Igbos have not been in power since 1966 but you find the same people that say they have president, Vice President, Supreme Court justice, service chiefs, senate and house of reps leadership etc still wailing bitterly to same Igbos for many years now . What does that tell you about stuff Igbos are made of?
Stupid, childish talk. It's so sad - it's the 21st century, and see what an adult is saying!

let me waste a little time attempting to rid you of the inferiority complex that makes you so desperate to be seen as superior.

Britain didn't do anything to spite the Igbos! They simply wanted oil - the same oil that all of you want from the Niger Delta. The same oil that made Ironsi and Ojukwu deprive the Niger Delta man of the very freedom they and their people would seek a few months later, of which some like you continue to seek to this day. Should we then say the Igbos feel threatened by the Niger Deltans?

Besides, what technological advancement were Igbos known for before the war? How about before the coming of the British? Nothing at all! They were simply ambitious and hardworking people who took advantage of the British education introduced through colonialism to seek offices in the civil service and military. These same people now turn around to say their British educators were hateful racitsts. As if you could have had a platform without the British?

The idea that the black race lost its opportunity with the Igbos would sound like a joke, but then I've observed that you people really believe this. Which suggests your brain is likely not working well.

Jobs/Vacancies › Re: Why Are Tech Jobs Difficult To Get? by SmartyPants(m): 2:45pm On Feb 18, 2025
It is hard because you most likely learned the elementary things and then you want to get a job abroad. Don't you know that everyone in Africa, Asia, South America, and most of Europe wants that remote job you also want? If four candidates from Africa, Asia, South America, and Europe apply for the same remote job and have the same credentials, don't you realize the African is least likely to get it? To get the job, you have to go beyond the bare minimum.

To use OP's data analysis example, being an average data cleaner and dashboard creator is no longer enough. You have to know Python and be good at statistical analysis.

Even at that, the competition is still so tough. The idea that remote jobs will fall into your laps is wrong. It's competitive everywhere.

Lies. Below is what gives you sleepless nights. Just like a toddler who cannot bear to see his or her sibling get a sweet without demanding the same even if he or she just got one 5 minutes earlier.

If you wanted the best for your business (assuming you have one, which I doubt), you would ask for best-in-class facilities, not "what Lagos has."

That your standard is "what Lagos has" reveals the jealousy that is festering within your primitive mind. Your heart is like that of Cain - full of bitter covetousness.

Dangote's admission about the $23 billion refinery project being the biggest risk of his life is a testament to the immense challenges and bold vision required to transform industries. This project not only highlights his entrepreneurial courage but also has the potential to significantly reduce Africa's dependence on imported fuel, boosting economic growth and self-sufficiency. It’s a reminder that great rewards often come with great risks. A true game-changer for the continent.

Business › Re: The High Price Of Excellence: An Exclusive On The CBN – Afusat Kassim by SmartyPants(m): 3:04pm On Feb 16, 2025
Umarnuhu1990:
I understand the concerns raised regarding the recent appointments at the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN). Let’s address each point systematically:
1. Appointment Process and Best Practices: The necessity for transparent and merit-based hiring is paramount. The consultants in question bring specialized expertise that complements the existing team. While their appointments may not have followed traditional procedures, it’s essential to recognize that in times of significant reform, unconventional methods can be employed to address unique challenges effectively.
2. Qualifications and Necessity: The addition of these consultants, who hold advanced degrees and possess extensive international experience, aims to infuse fresh perspectives into the CBN. Their roles are not redundant but are designed to tackle specific issues that require their unique skill sets. Investing in such talent, even during economic constraints, can lead to long-term benefits that outweigh the initial costs.
3. Remuneration Concerns: The reported salaries of the consultants have raised eyebrows, especially in comparison to existing directors. However, it’s crucial to consider the global market rates for such expertise. Attracting top-tier talent often necessitates competitive compensation. Moreover, their contributions are expected to drive reforms that could significantly enhance the nation’s economic standing, potentially justifying their remuneration.
4. Comparison to Foreign Consultants: Engaging local experts with global experience, as opposed to foreign consultants, not only retains funds within the country but also ensures that the solutions are tailored to Nigeria’s unique context. While the costs are substantial, they are competitive when compared to international consultancy fees, and the cultural relevance they bring is invaluable.

In summary, while the concerns about process and remuneration are valid, it’s essential to balance them against the potential benefits these consultants bring. Their specialized skills and experiences are assets aimed at navigating the CBN through complex reforms. Transparency and clear communication about their roles and the expected outcomes can help in aligning our perceptions shaa

Wallade:
Brother, let me emphasize that any organization is only allowed to engage consultant for jobs that employees and directors are not equipped or properly qualified to do.

No company management should employ consultants to do the jobs that staff are already being paid to do. That is duplication of effort, waste of resources and clear case of incompetence.

If the staff are incompetent, fire them or demote or transfer them and replace them with competent staff, directors and managers.
That's precisely what I said if you look at my point 1:

No one says Cardoso shouldn't hire consultants. But it has to be done reasonably.

1. Justify the need for them
2. Use transparent hiring practices
3. Offer fair remuneration that reflects Nigeria's status as a third world country
Business › Re: The High Price Of Excellence: An Exclusive On The CBN – Afusat Kassim by SmartyPants(m):
This is nonsense.

Never read a more infuriating pile of rubbish.

1. While she disingenuously accuses detractors of lacking balance, she herself completely lacks balance. Yes, these women may be qualified. But where were they appointed following best practices? Is that not the crux of the issue?

2. She says the women hold PhDs so in addition to the existing 400 PhD holders, another 3 more is wisdom. Can you imagine how selfish some people can be? The nation is broke, and you can justify hiring people who are clearly not needed just because they are probably your friends. This is even as, according to reports, these women outearn all the directors put together!

3 consultants earn more than 179 directors combined! How is that justifiable?

4. She says Foreign consulting firms command similar fees and would only send "white boys" to do the work. What a disgraceful attempt at sophistry. This is Nigeria where we don't have that kind of money and there are no "White boys" getting sent anywhere.

No one says Cardoso shouldn't hire consultants. But it has to be done reasonably.

1. Justify the need for them
2. Use transparent hiring practices
3. Offer fair remuneration that reflects Nigeria's status as a third-world country

That's not too much to ask!

idahme:
This is the first sane comment, its very pathetic a society where they don't even believe a gender can initiate violence is outrageous. Violence isn't gender specific, women initiate violence against children that isn't theirs, women also initiate violence against men but somehow men aren't even in the equation of things.

The last incident at Unizk, assuming it was a male student that assaulted a female lecturer, that student in addition to the expulsion will be prosecuted for aggravated assault in a court of competent jurisdiction but somehow its a woman no one is talking about prosecution to serve as deterrence to others who will want to repeat such stupid feats.

Everyone matters, the men are also vulnerable like others
Both you and he are just silly. If a man is assaulted, what stops him from reporting the case like any other?

The rationale for providing expedited and enhanced protection for women and children is the fact that statistically, men are more likely to physically abuse women, and physiologically, a women are far likelier to get seriously hurt by men rather than vice versa.

Again, if you have a woman who abuses you, you have every right to walk into a police state and seek justice too.

Shoot him and call it self defence.
That's not how it works in reality. First, observe that the person videoing seems to be a fellow soldier. So once you shoot him, reinforcements will be called.

The reality is that if there is a higher presence of soldiers in that area before he can get to the safety of his area command, they will pick him up and deal with him terribly. And by the time his superiors get him out, nothing will happen to those soldiers.
