A lot of people don't know that this man is one of the richest anambra men around. He owns the most successful indigenous oil servicing company in Nigeria and should be one of the very few indigenous companies in the oil and gas industry that had offices in the three major cities of Nigeria. An astute and intelligent businessman

Let me do justice to this based on the lay man macroeconomics I learnt in school. Unemployment rate is the single most importantfactor that affects a country's currency(naira inclusive).when more people are unemployed , the population becomes poorer and the central Bank embarks on monetary easing measures like reducing interest rates and printing more money. Some crude measures like giving out cash to cushion poverty e.g tradermoni were embarked upon in Nigeria. This weakened our currency. Besides, it also feeds into a lower CPI or consumer price index which will be discussed under consumer confidence. On balance of trade, a country that exports more than it imports has a positive balance of trade and vice versa. The currency of such a country appreciates and this is because everybody wants their product. Therefore , they get foreign currency as a result and convert it to their own currency thereby raising the demand for the local currency and ,thus, its price. It is the reverse for a country that imports more than it exports. Nigeria currently imports almost everything. The third one is political stability. A country that is almost always changing government, plagued by wars or changing economic and government policies frequently will see the value of its currency plummet. Nigeria, for example, comes up with several policies, acts and bills frequently and most of these are anti-people and therefore impacts business badly. This leads to a lack of appetite for investment in the country hence a depreciationof the naira. Lastly, consumer confidence , measured by the consumer price index, is defined as how safe and secure consumers feel about their income stability. Let me bring it home to Nigeria. Currently, the populace(who are the consumers) feel that their jobs are not secure and their income is often eroded by the increase in the price of commodities and essentials. Therefore, people are afraid to spend the money they have at hand because they don't know what will happen tomorrow. They'd rather hoard and even convert it to dollars or some other stable currency. This has a knock-on effect on businesses in that they won't make enough money and a further knovk-on on the government revenue and the economy in 6hat government won't get enough taxes from these businesses. Consumer spending is the singular most contributor to the GDP of every country. By the way, I have indepth knowledge of all these things cos I trade forex.

How do the bolded affect our Naira?
Business / Re: What Determines The Value Of A Country's Currency? by smeag0l(m): 8:24am On Sep 21, 2021
Op, here are the most important factors that determines the value of a country's currency. Any other thing are just offshoots of the factors listed below. I'll list them here and that's it. If you have any questions on how each of these affect the naira you can let me know so I'll elucidate.
1. Unemployment rate.
2. The country's apex Bank interest rate on lending
3. Balance of trade.
4. Level of manufacturing or industrial production in the country also called manufacturing index.
5. Political stability.
6. Inflation rate
7. Consumer confidence
8. A country's balance of payment and gearing
Hismasterpiece:
Hello.

Recently i have been hearing about the dollar going up in value.

And this has brought about a hike in the prices of commodities in the market and has also brought about a hike in the cost of living of the average Nigerian.

So things are tough in the country now because of this dollar phenomenon

So i would like to know what determines the value of a country's currency and why the Nigerian Naira appears to constantly reducing in value while that of America keeps going higher and higher.

Anybody with meaningful information is welcome. Thanks.

Business / Re: Should I Open A Domiciliary Account? Why? by smeag0l(m): 10:31pm On Sep 16, 2021
No, Naira will not go extent. CBN will simply pass a new law converting all the monies in the domiciliary accounts to naira at the official exchange rate. OP, please I beg you, do download a binance wallet now and keep your money there to avoid stories that touch. With your domiciliary account in a Nigerian bank, you're really no different from someone who owns a naira savings account. You're just one regulation away from having your money lose immense value.

I was wondering too. Cos the keg problem for Honda ended in the 2006 series. I drive a honda that's beyond 2010 and I don't experience such. I have friends that do too. Honda accord has better internal aesthetics and fuel economy than Toyota Camry. Even when it comes to speed accord is still slightly ahead. Only the ruggedity of the Camry transmission and engine beats that of Honda accord.

I was getting mesmerized reading your post, till I got to the part you said all Honda cars have leg problem, really?! That means all you gloriously wrote up there about the Camry might be false.

There are still six unsolved maths problems in the world, each of them with a 1 million dollar price tag. This professor won't go and solve one of them. Instead, he's busy making a fool of himself. If mathematics were able to solve football then Greece won't win Euro 2004. This is instead one example. There are numerous others.

This is your limitation. Results in school don't mean anything in the labour market these days. People can make first class by rote learning and memorization in Nigerian universities. It's the practicality of what you learnt in school that matters outside school. I was one of the most unserious of engineering students in a top Nigerian University about 10 years ago and I still graduated with a good result because I knew what I was doing. Fastforward today, none of those who graduated with better results in my class earn what I earn. Only one comes close. I was earning more than the 60k you put here when I was just teaching foreign students some engineering courses through YouTube. And this was the period between when I finished service and when I started working. I havr never had to walk into any company to submit CV's. All the jobs I've done from graduation up till today found me. Remove that veil of a good result off your eyes so you can see clearly

Investment / Re: SEC Creates A Special Division To Study The Crypto Market by smeag0l(m): 1:20pm On Sep 08, 2021
You can't trade on luno. What you said is that your money is hanging in luno which is what I refuted. You can take out your money from luno if you want to.you can also trade on luno if you want to be trading at a huge loss.
pacespot:

Did you read my last explanation to this? You can only deposit Naira to your Luno wallet as a Nigerian if you set your country like so. But Luno exchange rate from Naira to Dollar is outrageous to me since the CBN ban on crypto. They want to exchange one dollar for me at about 1000+ naira.

So let me ask you, how do you trade on Luno giving to the CBN ban?
Investment / Re: SEC Creates A Special Division To Study The Crypto Market by smeag0l(m): 7:28am On Sep 08, 2021
So you can buy a coin on luno and then transfer it to binance. Why didn't you buy crypto since then?
pacespot:

I mean my money o, not crypto. How do you do money transfer across both platforms?

The problem is that I've a chunk of money (Naira) on Luno which I just deposited from my bank account prior to the CBN ban on crypto. Ever since the ban, I notice the exchange rate from Naira to Dollar has skyrocketed on the platform, for instance, the Ripple XRP which is currently $1.3 per coin, but if you want to buy in Naira it costs N1,300 per coin. You see that you will have to pay more than twice the current exchange rate to buy crypto with Naira on Luno.

I'm saying this because you might ask me to use my money to buy crypto on Luno, then transfer the crypto to Binance so that I can exchange it back to Naira through their P2P network. But the current exchange rate does not make sense to buy crypto with Naira on Luno.
Investment / Re: SEC Creates A Special Division To Study The Crypto Market by smeag0l(m): 6:58am On Sep 08, 2021
You can transfer from luno to binance
pacespot:

How, they don't allow withdrawal
Investment / Re: SEC Creates A Special Division To Study The Crypto Market by smeag0l(m): 9:01pm On Sep 07, 2021
May I know why your money is hanging in Luno, please? Cos you can get it out
pacespot:
A chunk of my money is hanging on luno crypto platform because of lack of withdrawal function since the CBN ban on crypto. This illiterate Fulani's regime always acts before thinking. So they don't understand the crypto that they are banning Well I forget that anything that concerns with the youth always gives goosebumps to this government to try and destroy it. If crypto was used mostly by the political cankerworms, it would have taken years of debates and legislations to even come up with something to try to regulate it, that is if they are able to come up with anything anyway.

Jobs/Vacancies / Re: Ibadan Job For N175,000 Or Kaduna Job For N259,000 : Which Should I Go For? by smeag0l(m): 6:56pm On Sep 07, 2021
And you want him to go there to work? Same road that witnesses kidnappings and killings almost every other week? Why are Nigerians so wicked and economical with the truth? OP, please listen carefully. Kaduna is highly polarised along ethnic and religious lines up to the seat of government. Also, I see that nobody is mentioning the ethno-religious riot of the 1999/2000 era. If you were there at that time , you would wish you never lived in Kaduna. Except if you're a hausa Muslim. Another thing is this: if the organisation you're going to work for is an agricultural one then, most likely, your place of work will be on the outskirts of town. This increases your security risk. Also, would you want to be flying from Kaduna to the south everytime? If no is the answer then I put your chances of getting kidnapped or killed on the road at 50/50. Lastly, I'll advice you to stay in Ibadan and count the difference in salary as the opportunity cost for security. You'll thank me later for this advice.
EFGH:

Bro, if you miss the Kaduna offer, I don't know what I will describe you!

I currently base in KD and I must say that inasmuch as there is security challenges, but the candid truth is that most of those kidnappings incidents you often read about are don't mostly in the outskirts of the town.

So "Dan Allah" make you no miss this golden opportunity because of what you often read about KD.

IF I may guess, the organisation that gave you the offer should be Olam farm
located along kaduna to Abuja road

Yeah, this is actually true.
ThierryJay:

Upstream oil operations (crude oil exploration) are not exempted in VAT exempt list. Only downstream operations are I.e marketing and sale of petroleum products. Most upstream activities occur in the south south.

Also, oil companies withhold VAT at source from their vendors servicing them (often in the SS). The VAT withheld would have to be remitted to those states where the services were consumed.
