Ah Nnkan N be! Anyone who was a fan of Nigerian television programmes during the early years of the 21st
century would be very well familiar with this phrase which captures the strange but true happenings that occur
on earth. Even more, the name Kolawole Olawuyi which is very closely knitted to this phrase would definitely
also come to mind.
Nnkan N be was a television programme that showcased scary strange events that occurred in the Nigerian
society at the time. From events about witches, wizards, destiny snatchers, creepy items found in strange
locations to revelations about kidnappers, ritualists, robbers and evil landlords known to harm their tenants,
Nnkan N Be depicted it all.
While this show is a big subject of interest, its anchor and presenter Kolawole Olawuyi is even of more greater
importance. This is because this man, who died in 2007, brought to the open events and secrets that were
meant to stay in the dark.
The background of Kolawole, his journey through life and his death are quite intriguing details that have awed
many people over time. To preserve the memory of this man who braced all challenges to expose the works of
darkness,
1. His background
Late Kolawole Olawuyi was born to Williams Inaolaji Olawuyi who was a pastor. However, his mother was was
said to be a Muslim. He was born in Ibadan, Oyo State. During an interview, the late Kola Olawuyi revealed that
he was very incorrigible when he was young. Due to his stubborn behaviours, there were times when his father
beat him. Some of the offences he committed included leaving behind household chores to play football or
table tennis.
But despite his rebellion, as a child, Kola had always wanted to be a journalist. But then, he had mistaken
journalism to mean travelling. For him, being involved in journalism was a divine responsibility bestowed on him
by God for the purpose of changing his world for the better. It was because of this he joined a charity
programme for widows in his later life.
During his lifetime, Kola Olawuyi was said to be a shy person who avoided talking to the press. In between the
lines of his words, many denoted that he only wanted to talk about himself and his ministry when the time was
ripe.
2. His career
It has been gathered that the late Kolawole Olawuyi had an HND in Mass Communication from The Polytechnic,
Ibadan. He was about finishing his Masters programme in Communication Arts at the University of Ibadan when
he died.
Kolawole Olawuyi had his big break in his profession when he created the popular radio programme, Iriri Aye, in
1992. This talk show presented a whole new perspective on human stories and challenges.
This radio programme ran on the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN), Ibadan. At the time, he only had
30 minutes to talk and do the show. But in the late 90's, things changed. What happened was that he ran a
programme on Okorocha, the teacher.
At the time, Okorocha was the man who claimed to be a prophet. He usually used black eggs to perform
several miracles. After publicising the news of this man, many got interested in his story. Due to this, threats
started coming from undisclosed listeners who warned Kolawole not to air the programme or be punished for
it.
But then, several people wanted to badly hear the story of the fake prophet. Because of this, Kolawole went
ahead and presented the programme. The story generated a lot of buzz among Nigerians and this shot up the
fame of Iriri Aye on FRCN.
However, despite the popularity of the programme, the radio station was harassed with several threats and
petitions. This made the station very uncomfortable. Thus, they left him to himself in a very cunning way. This
made Kolawole stop his show in Ibadan and move it to Ogun. This time, he named his unusual show Nnkan
Nbe.

3. Nnkan N Be
Olawuyi’s Nnkan N Be was the highlight of his career and life. He depicted shrilling and heart-rending stories
that were so deep and audience-amassing. He became so successful that he was able to lease a floor at the
prestigious Femi Johnson Tower in Dugbe, Ibadan.
Even more, he registered a corporate corporation company and he also diversified into television and magazine
production. Despite claims that his show was successful due to this occultic associations, the ace presenter
claimed he was not fetish but that he only relied on God only.
Kolawole was the late member of the Marvelous Tabernacle, the LASU-Igando road branch of The Redeemed
Christian Church of God, Lagos. Although he has been offered a lot of charms which he collected, Kolawole
said he never used any.
4. His family
Kolawole Olawuyi had a fulfilling relationship with wife Mrs. Abimbola Olawuyi. He also had children, one of
which is a popular saxophonist.

5. His Death
This great mystery man died on March 3, 2007. His death shook everyone who knew and heard about it. It was
gathered that the sickness which killed him had been besetting him three months before his death.
Many have inferred that the strange ailment which defied treatments up till the time he died was inflicted on
him due to his mystery programmes. From unveiling the atrocities and evil works of wicked people in the
society, Kolawole had courted many enemies.
However, the greatest of all his enemies was said to have been within the rented apartment comprising of other
five buildings where he lived.
The great media presenter lived around Okunola bus stop, Idimu road, Egbeda, Lagos State, Chief Olawuyi’s
death and many have associated his death with the felling of a mysterious tree in the compound.
According to the reporters of Sunday Tribune, the strange tree was felled and totally uprooted three months
before the death of the presenter. It was cut down on the instructions of Olawuyi despite strong danger warning
from former occupants of one of the buildings in the compound that nobody should do anything to the tree.
As the story goes, these occupants and tree owners were white people who had, in the past, raised strong
agitations against the felling of the tree. In fact, the owner of the house had tried severally to send the white
dwellers packing so as to cut down the tree, all to no avail. The tree continued to be in the house for five years
even after the foreign tenants were eventually forced to leave.
Kolawole Olawuyi then came to the picture. He complained that the branches of the tree were causing great
havoc to his house. Then, he pushed for people to cut it down. Upon his intervention, the tree was finally cut
down despite severe warnings. It was from this moment that the illness of the man started. This sickness
troubled him up on till the time he died.

Yesterday, around 5:30 Pm as I drove from Isuochi to Enugu, the unthinkable happened. This was just before
UNTH after Awgu junction.
Suddenly, this hooded Person ( dressed in Fulani Regalia) jumped out of the bush in front of me and started
shooting at my Car. Before I could make anything out of it another three appeared a bit in front and bullets
started flying everywhere. I have been hearing about Fulani Herdsmen but what I saw yesterday is better
imagined than experienced.
The stories I have read on how these guys operate and THE EVER ABIDING PRESENCE OF JEHOVAH all worked
in those few minutes. I was determined not to stop. My Staff, Prince, who was on the Passenger sit literally
passed out. As the bullets rained on my Car, I kept speeding away.
About one Kilometer from there, Just before UNTH and NNPC Mega Station was a Military Checkpoint. I heaved
a sigh of relief and slowed down. I told the Army guy what was going on just behind their Post. He casually told
me that they were aware.. that the driver in front of me just told them. I asked him why he was still standing
there without making any move to save the vehicles behind, and he just looked at me blankly and waved me
on.
By now, my entire dashboard was full of red lights. The temperature of my Car hit the highest point on the
meter. I slowly drove down to the front of NNPC opposite UNTH and pulled the Car out of the road.
It was then it dawned on me what happened. There were over 20 bullet holes in my front fender. Most of these
bullets hit directly at my Radiator and other things in front of the engine. The tyres which they were after, didn't
get a scratch. There were also two bullet holes on the passenger side of the Car. And few others around the
Booth. Let God be praised !
But in ALL these, NOT ONE OF THOSE BULLETS TOUCHED MY BODY AND THAT OF PRINCE, the boy with me.
At the Military Checkpoint, we pleaded with the army people to alert others not to go in that direction.
Praise God with me.
Nigeria is surrounded.
Nowhere is safe.
This thing is far more serious.
The Government and people of Nigeria should better treat this as an emergency. It's beyond Politics. Anyone
can be a victim.

The Abuja Electricity Distribution Company ( AEDC ) , says that it cuts - off electricity
supply most times when it rains to save lives , properties and to protect its equipment .
Mr Oyebode Fadipe , AEDC ’ s General Manager, Corporate Communications gave the
explanation while speaking with the News Agency of Nigeria ( NAN ) on Sunday in Abuja .
Fadipe , was reacting to complaints by consumers that whenever it rained, electricity
supply was cut- off for days .
“ The issue of electricity supply going off , especially when it rains could be viewed from
two perspectives , which could be electricity lines and poles being pulled down by the
rains or some other major interruption .
“ To avoid any form of destruction to lives and properties , the system is programmed go
off when it is about to rain .
“ Customers would have also observed that after rain , attempt is made to restore the
supply which is called “ flashing ’’
“ If we try to restore supply and it is not stable , it means that maybe a pole or two is
broken and the conductor is lying on the ground ” he said .
According to him , AEDC duty is to look for the problem and try to restore supply as the
speed of repair is totally different from the speed when destruction takes place .
He said that when the network for one reason or the other is impaired , it would take a
bit of time to bring back the poles , string the lines and other things needed to restore
power .
Speaking on the issue of laying cable underground as was being done in other countries,
Fadipe said that the issue was not alien to them .
He said that in Abuja, network was underground and AEDC had to buy specialised
vehicle to be able to trace any fault on those cables.
“ We have a specialised vehicle which when you connect a motorised equipment to even
if the fault is at Sheraton Hotel , it will give us the location .
“ We have invested in equipment , unlike the old practice before privatisation when there
is a fault, we will have to dig from one point to the other and you destroy the roads .
“ And also , most of our network is overhead so that you don ’ t have to destroy the roads
and you don ’ t have to spike the cables, ” he said .
He, however , assured consumers that AEDC was working on ensuring effective power
supply in the territory .

The Ondo state police Command has apprehended a traditional head of a community at
Ofosu village of Akure south local government area in the state, Chief Lawrence Adebayo Ojo
in connection with series of armed robberies in Akure metropolis.
Chief Lawrence Adebayo Ojo, aged 54, is the Olu of one of the villages at Ofosu until his
arrest as one of those who killed the Bursar of the Anglican church in Akure.
Briefing newsmen, the Commissioner of Police in Ondo state, Mr Andie Undie said the
traditional head would be charged to court with other suspected bank robbers after the
conclusion of investigation.
“On 28th of May, 2019 at about 1600hrs, one Adeyinka Adeniyi ‘m’ of No:2 Mama Eko street
off Orita Obele Estate, Akure went to Zenith Bank Alagbaka Branch with his Toyota Corolla
Reg. No ISD 233 FS and withdrew the sum of Four Hundred and Fifty Thousand Naira
₦450,000.00.
“He (Adeniyi) kept the money inside the safe of his car and drove to his building site at
Adegbola Area Akure, unknown to him that he was being trailed by suspected Armed
Robbers”.
Undie Added that, “He parked the car and went into the site. When he came back, he
discovered that his car was broken into and the money carted away and the Special Anti-
Robbery Squad (SARS) were promptly contacted. Detectives swung into action and arrested
one Martins Adetoye Kolawole ‘m’ Aged 47 and Chief Lawrence Adebayo Ojo ‘male’ Aged 54”.
The CP noted that, “On interrogation, they confessed to the commission of the crime, their
Operational vehicles which they always used to monitor their victims from the Bank, one

Oyefemi, 33, a construction worker and graduate of Geology and Minning from the University of Jos, has been arrested by the Police in Jos for allegedly killing a 24-year-old woman, Patience.

Oyefemi, a resident of Millionaires Quaters, Jos, was said to have picked the 24-year-old Musa at the West of Mines area of Jos, around midnight on Friday, May 31.

A News Agency of Nigeria, investigation revealed that the duo had agreed on a fee of N3,000 for the night.
Oyefemi, however, allegedly killed the woman while she was at his house and tried to dump her body but was apprehended by a vigilance group keeping watchover the quarters.

Father of the deceased, a resident of Tudun Wada, told NAN that he received a distress call from his daughter (deceased)’s phone from someone who told him to go to the Nasarawa Gwom Police station.
“I was at home in the morning of Saturday, June 1, when I received a call from my daughter’s phone but heard a man’s voice at the other end asking me to proceed to the Nasarawa Gwom Police station.

“I thought she was involved in a fight or some kind of trouble with someone and got arrested, but when I arrived at the station, the Policemen told me that my daughter was killed and her body dumped somewhere. They asked me to follow them to the hospital to identify her body.

“At the Jos University Teaching Hospital Mortuary, I discovered that the body was actually my daughter’s, even though she had already changed in appearance. She had stab wounds all over her body and her tongue was sticking out.

“I want the authorities to investigate this matter to its logical conclusion and find out why my daughter was killed. This is too painful for all of us to bear. She was killed in cold blood, all I want is justice,” he said.

Mr Ralph Monye, the family lawyer, who also spoke on behalf of the family, added that the body showed that she was stabbed on her two breasts, heart area, neck and other parts, and had marks on her neck which suggests she was also strangled.



Monye said that the police informed the family that after Oyefemi committed the crime, he proceeded to call his security man, one Nasir, to help him dispose of the body, but that the two men were apprehended by vigilance group members.

“While inspecting her body at the mortuary, we found that she was killed in a very brutal manner. She was stabbed on both breasts with the attacker aiming directly at both nipples with precision, then directly at her heart, then the neck region and other parts, before strangling her.

“The police told us that Oyefemi and his security man went to dump her body in a nearby bush but were apprehended by a vigilance group who promptly called the police.

“The police also informed us that after he killed her, he cleaned everywhere in his room and dressed his bed so perfectly that no one could even imagine that such gruesome murder happened in the same room.”

Monye said that when he (suspect) was led by the police to his house for inspection, they discovered a neatly cleaned room, adding that it took them hours before retrieving the deceased’s phone and bag from him as he hid them and refused to hand them over.

The suspect, who spoke with NAN at the State Criminal Investigation Department, where he is being held, confirmed to NAN that he was being held for alleged murder and was transferred from the Nasarawa Gwom police station on Monday, June 3, to the state CID.

Oyefemi added that he was arrested alongside his security guard, Nasir, but declined to comment further.

Mr Tyopev Terna, spokesman of the Plateau Police Command, confirmed the incident.

“The case of culpable homicide involving one Patience was yesterday, June 3, transferred from Nasarawa Gwom police station to the state CID for discreet investigation. That is all I can tell you now,” he said.

Boko Haram terrorists have reportedly captured Marte, the headquarters of Marte Local Government Area of
Borno State.
Daily Trust reports that the insurgents stormed the Marte military base, 153 Task Force Battalion, shooting
sporadically and in the process razed “everything”.
It quoted a military source as saying on Monday: “The insurgents seem not to have intended harming any
civilian, but only to capture the town; so they stormed the military base, taking troops there unawares at about
6pm (Sunday) much less than an hour to break fast time”.
“We engaged them in a fierce encounter for about an hour. Initially, we were about getting victorious over them,
but they overpowered us, and all troops in the burning base were set asunder, with all of us fleeing in all
directions in the bush.
“I can tell you that we were about defeating them; but God knows the tactics they later deployed and the defeat
turned against us; we all fled; they are in control of the town now.”
According to another fleeing source, “casualty figures cannot be confirmed on both sides, with all of us fleeing
in all directions into the bush, and many of us finding their way to Maiduguri, and majority still roaming in the
bush.
“Many of us who are lucky to find our way to Maiduguri or any safe community will elope to their home states
across the country to relieve themselves of the trauma.”
This development is coming days after Lt Gen Tukur Buratai, the Chief of Army Staff, declared that Boko Haram
has been defeated.
According to him, Nigerian military is now fighting an international criminal gang known as Islamic State of

A 100-level Human kinetics student of the Lagos State University, LASU, has died after being shot by an armed
robber.
Kehinde, who had his matriculation yesterday, was allegedly trying to help arrest two armed robbers at his
school’s First Gate, when one of them shot him in the neck.

A certain Nigerian man has just allegedly lost a job offer because he supports and posted photos of his role
models, Bobrisky and Tonto Dikeh on his Instagram page.
According to the man, he was asked by his potential employer to make his Instagram page public, which he did
by removing it from private.
Then he was scheduled for an interview which never help, instead he got a rebuff that he is not fit for the
employment as a PA for having Bobrisky and Tonto as his role model

A 19-year-old Australian woman has confessed that she made false accusations against a Good Samaritan, thus making him lose his job, marriage and spend two weeks in a maximum security prison. According to source, Kenan Basic had stopped to help the teenager in November, 2018, after she crashed her car and pulled into a BP in Bankstown, Sydney. . The 36-year-old married father-of-one spent almost two hours helping her get her car back on the road and a CCTV captured the entire interaction and shows the pair chatting happily and even embracing before she drives away. However, after they drove off, the teenager told police Mr Basic indecently assaulted, stalked her and propositioned her for sex in return for his help. Days after his act of kindness, Basic was facing serious sexual charges and spent two weeks behind bars in Silverwater Prison. He also lost his job and is now going through a divorce because of the false charges. However, on Monday, all charges against him were dropped after the girl confessed to detectives that she'd been lying all along. She is now facing a charge of knowingly making false or misleading statement

Angola becomes the first country to build a football stadium on water. The stadium was first opened over the weekend in Luanda and more than 1,000 fans attended. The beautiful stadium cost the country in excess of $20 million and was built for six months. It’s built in such a way that even if there’s heavy downpour, the water cannot rise to the stadium’s level. At the edge of the stadium, there are beautiful roads where fans watch the beautiful game from.What’s amazing is that even if the ball accidentally falls in water,there are people ready to collect it for the play to continue. A Nigerian non-professional football club has written Man United an official invitation for a
friendly match as part of pre season for the 2019/20 season.
Iperu Remo FC addressed the letter to Manchester United FC, London , requesting an exhibition game to
help the 20 time PL champion prepare better for the new season. Although, it appears the aim of the
correspondence is to mock United’s poor run in recent weeks, the letter, dated April 25th, 2019, also points
out the English club are well “below standard”.

A man, Deji Adenuga, a.k.a. Dakar, on Tuesday allegedly set eight family members of his estranged girlfriend ablaze on Adetuwo Street, Igbodigo town, in the Okitipupa Local Government Area of Ondo State.

PUNCH Metro gathered that five of the victims had given up the ghost, while three others were receiving treatment at the Trauma Centre, Ondo town, Ondo State.



A source told our correspondent that Adenuga was dating a girl in the family, identified only as Titi; but she later called off the relationship.

In retaliation, the suspect was alleged to have set the room where the family lived ablaze.

The source said, “What happened today (Tuesday) was shocking. The man (Adenuga) almost wiped out an entire family early this morning.

“He was angry because the girl (Titi) he was dating said she was no more interested in the relationship. In order to deal with the girl, he poured petrol in the room where all members of her family were sleeping and set them ablaze.

“He actually missed his target because the girl was not in the room at the time he set the room ablaze.

“Eight members of the family were severely burnt. Five of them have been confirmed dead, while the remaining three were rushed to the Trauma Centre, Ondo, where they are receiving treatment.”

The source noted that the suspect fled the town after the act, adding that his whereabouts was unknown to residents.

Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer of the Ondo State Police Command, Mr Femi Joseph, said the police had begun investigation into the incident.



“We are on the trail of the suspect, while investigation has commenced into the matter. We will soon arrest him,” Joseph said.
