Just an update , ive been able to set my hands on a torque wrench , a fliter belt, my challenge is how to use d filter belt to get a torque of 7.5pounds/feet or maybe the filter is tightened using attached bolts? i guess i will find out by the time i carry out disassembly

im still trying to look for an infra red heat gun and a generic pump,

Rather than jack it up, i could carry out the job by working from a pit the type found in filling stations in nigeria?

still waiting on the cost of :

1 post catalytic converter lambda sensor

1 tranny oil filter

1 tranny sump gasket

10ltrs of aisin recommended tranny oil.

It baffles me , cos i dont know what that means.

i need ur advice as regards my 3.2l vr6 touareg, i recently changed one of the post cat oxygen sensors in a bid
to correct the permanently illuminated CEL,unfortunately, the light is still on and i ran a scan again just to realise that the second post cat lambda sensor needs to be changed.

After series of maintenance checks were warried out, i realised that the tranny sump had a wet patch, which indicates that the gasket is probably torn and needs to be changed, this is most likely responsible for the harsh downshifts ive been experiencing from D5 toD4.

In this regard, im wondering if u could help procure the replacement gasket,o2 sensor,aisin recommended tranny oil.

Also, a detailed expalnation of how to carry out the tranny oil change will be highly appreciated.

Also , considering the deliverables, the R50 is d boss!. i mean , look at the torque on that thing, 'heard it towed a boeing!!! . power offered by both is still same and the consumption, R50 still returns a combined 22mpg compared to the audi's 21 mpg, R50 anyday, on this note , if i could mod the regular 3.6l touareg to look like the R50 on the exterior, id rather do dat than to go for the v10 r50, V10 R50 sounds like a guzzler with dat mpg,

im assuming a touareg is still a touareg , R50 modded or not! so even if it didnt get to North America, im thinking one should still be sxpecting the erratic gear downshifts (just one of the many complaints), cosidering its still the same aisin tranny one will still get in the R50, and the unreliable electronics of the regular touareg would still be available in the R50, despite all of these, i'd still go for the touareg anyday!.

The devil you know (with his/her deficiencies) is still better than the angel (q7) u dont know

i guess this is just my own personal opinion, the R50 wins anyday!, looks, power, etc.
what may just set the audi apart is the horrible reliability of the touareg. A quick dash to any touareg forum
will tell u tales of disappointment e.g www.clubtouareg.com. However, i am yet to hear such about the q7.

But for me, the touareg's handling,exterior and interior looks etc is simply the bomb!.And the R50 is the comtemporary example of how a mid size SUV oughtta look.

Thanks for the analysis about my 3.2l v6 touareg.Its actually in line with what ive been suspecting.
i was able to procure one of the 'post cat.conv.sensors'  since the diagnostic code was thrown up on only one bank.
but since u are recommending that i change the two post cat sensors, can u help me procure one more?

Also, i would like you to give me a comprehensive  'transmission oil change' procedure. Since you are not based in nigeria, im thinking of carrying out a DIY assisted by a local mechanic .Could you also let me know how much it will cost to procure the AISIN recommended tranny oil?

Any other useful information will be highly appreciated.

Check engine light permanetly illuminated
Guzzles fuel (15mpg highway,9mpg city)
Harsh downshift from 5 to 4 once in a while (maybe 2wice in 2 weeks)
fan keeps runnning after shutdown especially on a sunny afternoon
ac blows cold but not from the vents
scanned the engine and it said faulty 02s circuit, 2 of 1 (dunno what dat means)

my volkwagen touareg throws a harsh downshift when decelerating from gear 5 to 4.

' used an obd ii scanner but it didnt register any fault in the memory. 'went to club touareg (an online forum for treg users )and found out that all i need to do is update the tregs transmission software and this requires the use of a VAS 5051 and a cd rom.unfortunately , i live in nigeria.

is there anyway i can get the VAS5051and the tranny cd?

hey doyin, called earlier , i need upstream cat.converter and downstream cat conv ''oxygen sensors'' (driver side and passenger side) for my VW touareg v6 2004 model , can you help produre them?, plus my tranny jerks on the 5th gear , i went online and got informed that its a factory error on the vw tranny for that year, suggestions are that i should have the tranny flashed , how do i do that?

@sienna , ran an obd II scan and came up with dtc codes regarding:
1:crankshaft position sensor error,
2:cylinder 5 misfiring,
3:oxygen sensor error,
4:mass air flow meter error, please what do all these codes mean?waiting on you sienna, thanks

Very true, i heard same about the asian lady from the secutity guards. As a matter of fact, i kept praying that i wouldnt fall inline at her cubicle.lucky me , i was able to evade her and i barely spent 3mins with one of the other interviewers and i was issued a visa.For those intending to undergo their innterviews in abuja, stay away from the asian lady! A word is enough for the wise (if you dont wanna waste ur visa fees )
