People usually begin romantic relationships with great hopes. They don’t expect that their love will end. But, unfortunately, that is sometimes the reality. And often, there are warning signs that the relationship is headed in that direction. Relationship researcher John Gottman offers four such indicators, which he calls the “Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse.” Below are Gottman’s four warning signs – and adjustments you can make if you see them in your relationship: Criticism When a partner attacks the other person’s character. Criticism is different from complaining, which focuses on a particular problem or behavior. “You are such a slob” or “You always leave the house a mess” are criticisms. “I’m tired of finding your dirty socks all over the floor” is a complaint. It is difficult to have any constructive response to a criticism, but you can work cooperatively to address a complaint. Fix: Commit to making complaints rather than criticisms. If your partner tends to criticize, talk with them about the difference between these two ways of addressing problems and make an agreement for you both to complain rather than criticize. Contempt Criticism taken to the next level – a person is attacking their partner as a whole person. Contempt is insulting, demeaning, and is intended to put the criticizer on a higher level than their partner. It might include name-calling, mockery, sarcastic humor, or body language such as eye- rolling or sneering. Fix: Lower the tolerance for contempt. Actively work on building a healthier respect, more effective communication, and greater appreciation of each other. Given that this is the most problematic of all the horsemen, a relationship that involves contempt will probably need couples therapy to help them make positive changes. Defensiveness Responding to an attack by defending yourself and then attacking back. Your defense might involve making excuses, disagreeing, ignoring the attack, or taking on a victim role. Fix: Truly listen to your partner’s complaint, empathize with their distress, and take some responsibility for the problem. You can give your side of the story, but only after honestly showing compassion for their distress – that is, after showing that you really want to soothe their suffering. Stonewalling Withdrawing from a conversation or the relationship as a protection from being hurt. The person may physically leave or just stop following the conversation. The person often looks like they don’t care even though the real cause is that they are overwhelmed. Fix: Talk about this pattern together and work on being able to identify when the stone-waller is becoming overwhelmed. Also, develop a plan for how to give them some space, such as agreeing to take a break for some allotted amount of time. Make sure to come back at some point to the problem at hand. It is best to identify these patterns early. The longer they continue, the more they can damage your relationship. If you find that you keep repeating the same old patterns despite doing your best to nurture healthier ones, it may be time for couples therapy. |

ladyF:Lady F hmmmm...sure? |
Hello guys and ladies in the houz; I come across this question online and I was really wondering who owns the woman breast? Is the child or the father? I want the ladies to be precise as in, in their own view who really own those lovely stuff? To the guys...its been said no matter how old a man is he love breast is this truth? so let the comment roll in and let c who owns it. |
@op while u might be right, but it may not be the whole truth..now look at an issue that happened to me and a lady..I went to a sch Nuhu Bamaili Kaduna state polytechnic to c my bae. After we talked and gist I decided to c her off to her hostel my car parked outside the gate on getting to the I pressed my key to open the as the car opened wt d side mirror coming on board a lady standing there was attracted to me instantly. seeing the look in her face as she stand still I decided to play the trick of what am hearing about the sch I quickly beckoned on her I asked her to enter and wt d AC on already I started the guy and lady talk. She was so comfortable and smiling...saying I don't ur bae to c me or ur wife thinking am married or possibly to kno my rltnship status.. To cut d story short she was willing to follo me home but I thought of my God nd my love fo the lady I was there to c I booked appointment wt her for anoda day after we exchange numbers. If I take this lady home...and av sex wt her she can easily com out and tell those who care to listen I rape her,she was willing to folo. The same way there ar bad eggs among the men likewise its not all ladies that ar saint...som ladies wl even call a guy that so not make a move dindirin..or fool and other names. on men slpin wt under age som of them may be possed or jus wicked though my opinion is not a reason for men to be rapist. This thing is like a coin wt two side...only the victim kno the real truth. Imagine the case of Joseph in the bible wt portipha wife if Joseph did not run and he was caught in the act won't the woman claim he rape her even wt the run he still end up in prison.. To all victims of rape my heart goes out to u all I pray the Lord console u and the wound heal quickly. |
2. Put Your Wallet in Your Back Pocket While most Lagosians are nice and helpful there are always folks looking to take advantage of unsuspecting tourists (and locals!). Never place your wallet in your back pocket, as you are bound to lose it – sometimes without even knowing. Be smart, use common sense and keep an eye on your wallet is , particularly when you’re in crowded places such as Obalande, Oshodi and Balogun market. 3. Flash cash around Whether it’s when paying for things on the street, counting your money or taking out a wad of cash and then asking the waiter how to figure out the bill, flashing cash is never a good move in Lagos. The Nigerian currency is not hard to figure out. Always keep a running tally in your head so you do not have to whip out your cash and start counting; this will also protect you from thieves. 4. Try to cut in line With so many amazing things to do in Lagos, sooner or later you are going to have to wait in a line. Whether you’re queuing up to snag rush movie tickets, trying to grab a meal at a popular eatery or waiting to use an ATM in a shopping mall, you are going to have to wait along with everyone else. If you stealthily try to make it to the front, you will be caught and blessed with the wrath of a crowd of scary, impatient Lagosians…and this is not something you want to deal with. 5. Taste street food with no intention to buy In some part of the country, street vendors will encourage you to have a taste of what they are selling, even if they know you may not end up buying. Some people actually eat to their fill by tasting street food from numerous vendors. However, in Lagos, if you are going to taste it, you better be prepared to pay for a portion, even if it is as small as NGN50 worth. Most street vendors will reign insults and curses on you, while some other will take a step further and cause an embarra$$ing scene if you refuse to make a purchase. 6. Pay a hawker before collecting the purchase Despite the ban by the state government, the traffic in Lagos ensures that there are hawkers lurking around to meet the needs of stressed and tired commuters. If you are looking to buy anything from a hawker, never give them the cash before you receive the item as there is a huge chance they will disappear with your cash and the item. Also, if they need to give you some change after purchase, do not hand them the cash. Instead, ask them to return with the change you need before you make the purchase. 7. Compare Lagos with life elsewhere This applies mostly to visitors. Do not spend time comparing things in Lagos to things in other cities in the country or even around the world. Do not complain that it is crowded and there is traffic almost on every street or that you come from an area with cheaper transportation. It is just rude to say where you come from is better than Lagos – so why did you visit? Things are DIFFERENT in Lagos. The sooner you learn and accept this, the more enjoyable your stay will be.

A 22 year-old-girl Lola Oguntade has narrated
an amazing story of how she quit her job in a
bank and became a ‘chronic’ campaigner for
Muhammadu Buhari. In her interview granted to SaharaTV, Lola said
she gave up everything to campaign for
“Change” during Nigeria’s 2015 presidential
election.
The “Buhari girl” quit her job in a Nigerian
bank in order to focus on supporting the APC’s
presidential candidate in the March 28
election.
Oguntade was not joining or being funded by
any political party or Buhari’s campaign.
Lola said: “The majority of people are not on
social media, so I decided to talk to them on
markets, they also have their PVCs so they
should know about General Muhammadu
Buhari.
“I met somebody from the Facebook
campaigning team and they invited me to their
meeting. When I came they were just looking
at me and I understand that I was the
youngest one there.
“And they began to nominate official people for
campaigning and I raised my hand and said: I
want to be an assistance coordinator of this
group.
“Everybody looked at me: Who are you? You
have just come and want to be coordinator of
this group.”
“When I was giving my speech I said that as a
matter of fact I am not experienced. I have
passion for Nigeria, I have passion for General
Muhammadu Buhari, I am eager to sacrifice to
work for this organization.”
Then the young girl talked about the
desperation that came after shift of polls from
February 14 to March 28, 2015.
“After they postponed the campaign, after they
postponed the election then there was show
because the people were upset and we can’t
give up,” Lola said.
“We didn’t have money, and only the
encouragement from Facebook kept me going.
So when people said we don’t have money I
said don’t worry the God will provide.” |
President Muhammadu Buhari on Friday, August 7, said that the time has come for Nigerians to do more than pay mere lip service to agriculture, as crude oil and gas exports will no longer be sufficient as the country’s major revenue earner. Femi Adesina, the special adviser to the president on media and publicity, said the leader of the country made the declaration at an audience with Dr Kanayo Nwanze, the Nigerian-born president of the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), at the presidential villa, Abuja “It’s time to go back to the land. We must face the reality that the petroleum we had depended on for so long will no longer suffice. We campaigned heavily on agriculture, and we are ready to assist as many as want to go into agricultural ventures,” the president said. He also pledged that his administration would also cut short the long bureaucratic processes that the Nigerian farmers have to go through to get any form of assistance from government. President Buhari also told the IFAD president that improvement of the productivity of farmers, dry season farming and creative ways to combat the shrinking of the Lake Chad would also receive the attention of his administration. Meanwhile, still in his bid to bring change to Nigeria, President Buhari has ordered the ministry to produce a plan for the establishment of a military industrial complex for the local production of weapons for the needs of the Nigerian Armed Forces. The president gave the directive at the graduation ceremony of the National Defence College, Abuja , through his media aide, Garba Shehu. Naij.com |
