In media, a spin-off is a radio program, television program, film, video game or any narrative work, derived from already existing works that focus on more details and different aspects from the original work (e.g. particular topics, characters or events).

If you dey wait for where director or studio said before you rest your case, no rest am. Carry am for head like gele.
So is it not the same thing that BvS was a work that focus on more details and different aspects from the original work too.
Black Adam and Shazam sharing similar and identical stories from one universe or comic do not mean it is a spin-off. I bet if Black Adam was released first we wouldn't be hearing this thing of Shazam being spin-off.
If it's a spin-off, by now we would have heard it countless times from WB and the director but they have not...

Apart from BvS, which is a sequel, which other movie(s) ties into MoS?

If you see a prequel or sequel, do you need the director or studio to spell it out for you? If you don't understand the meaning of spin-off, ask for explanation or use Google to understand better.

Oga, I still stand on my point, show me where the director or even WB called it a spin-off then I will rest my case.
You perfectly know what is spin-off so explain to me, am waiting...

the only reason there is a black adam movie is because shazam was a success

Successful where na...
My brother, the same way MoS brought about BvS is the same way Shazam brings Black Adam. That's since Shazam didn't do the magic numbers, let's bring in Black Adam with the Rock maybe he will do it.

Length of development time does not determine whether something is a spin-off or not. Indeed, a movie has been pushed for a long time. But this final result we're getting is a spin-off of the 2019 Shazam movie. That's where the development settled after all these years.

Oga, is there anywhere that the director even WB execs called it a spin-off aside the Wikipedia write-up..... Show me then I will rest my case.
From you guys' point, then all movies after MoS, that's movies that tye into MoS are spin-offs of it. Cause MoS literally birthed this universe.
It's a standalone movie that connects with the entire DC Universe.

Rephrase this. Lemme understand what you're trying to say here.

Black Adam is not a spin-off, simple. It has been on the work for a very long time now, even before Shazam.

Bro, I don talk tire.

The fact that Warner Bros failed to greenlight the sequel to MoS2 is something I can't forgive.

Thank God you mentioned Nolan's trilogy: a lot of people seem to forget that the box office returns for Batman Begins was mediocre (373 million on a budget of 150 mill), yet they went ahead with a sequel.

See ordinary The Batman that came out yesterday: a sequel was announced before it finished its run and it didn't do too fantastic at the B.O but for nine years, they've dragging their feet for MoS2.

Yes that film had its faults, but they were things that could be corrected with better writing coupled with Cavill's performance as a fantastic Clark Kent.

The fact that it's still on people's lips is an attestation to how memorable it was and themes from it have been copied by other films and TV series in Hollywood.

I can't just forgive WB: Bleep them and their other projects.

Gone are the days I'll use my money to support them in the cinemas: I'd rather wait till it's on the high seas and treat them like other flicks.

They broke my heart. Seriously. cry

Omo, lately sef, I have started picking side with MCU (even if I don't like most of their movies), but at least I know am watching the original, and not the photocopy (MCU wannabe) from WB....

For example, just take a look at MCU disnay+ series and their counterpart series, God!!! The vfx and shootings are way superior to the nonsense WB is feeding us.

Which blueprints?
Lol, isn't it ironic, from your statement "not all great movie needs to do huge numbers in their first movie". Yet, you're quick to claim Shazam was a flop even tho it made more money than your dear MOS. A superhero icon known the world over. grin grin
Make it make sense. cheesy

Shazam has a sequel and a spin off of a major character player in Black Adam, also with multiple appearance or crossover potential. I can't say the same for MOS.

If you even watch movies, series or animation at all then I don't need to mention any.
Yes, Shazam got a sequel before MoS because guys running WB (before now) were full of MCU wannabe and nothing more. The same way they were trying to shove the unnecessary new Suicide Squad and its numerous spin-offs to mention down our throats.
Whether you admit it or not, Shazam box office numbers was a disaster for any cbm released 2yrs ago...
Mind you, Shazam is also a very popular character with adult audience....
For the record, Black Adam is never a spin-off of Shazam. If think so, then any movie that either introduces another character in its movie can be said to be a spin-off from the first movie right. Black Adam has been in the work for more than 10yrs now (if am correct), way before Shazam.

For those wondering why TF Shazam has a sequel and yet no MOS.

please, stop posting all this gibberish...
The bottom line is, MoS made a profit and it has the potential to do great numbers with a sequel compared to Shazam.
It has been 9yrs now, but people keep talking about it like it was released 2yrs ago, also, the blueprints of MoS are being replicated by other projects constantly and I can't say the same for Shazam.
Not all great movie needs to do huge numbers in their first movie, Nolan's Batman trilogy was a typical example.

Yes, read it again... A perfect story or superior plot, do you think riff-rats humans like Butcher and his team will survive a day from a psychopath like Homelander that can hear anything even 100miles from him or can see as far as there is no zinc blocking his view,,,

You basically said you were in for the CGI for all your CBM content in a previous discourse. You can't blame me If I repeat your own words.

Lol, Peacemaker is 50% CGI. You kidding me. grin grin
You sure say na the same show we watch.

She-Hulk, Hulk etc CGI is significant. Basically all episodes with the Hulk character will need CGI of some sort. You can't compare that one with a show like Watchmen or Peacemaker with little VFX.

And kindly show me where I said so...
If you know the amount of vfx put on the Peacemaker last three episodes you will be shocked.... I still repeat, cbm or series are vfx driven unless you are not talking about Superhero movies or series... The story/plot is basic, while the vfx makes it more cbm/s related.
Imagine a series like The Boys with 20 or 30% VFX lol... The Boys series is superior to almost all cbs released these days not because of its story, but because of the magnificent VFX work done by the production team...
Look at Superman and Lois, the story is fabulously compelling, but the vfx is getting worse by the day and people have started losing interest... In fact, people are even praying for it to be canceled, because very soon we will be getting a typical CW's VFX (if at all it's not there already).

I know say na only CGI you dey watch so I have no arguments with you.

It's funny how you are comparing MCU shows with nothing less than $120mn per season to $50-60mn shows. You're the first person I'll be seeing complaining about Peacemaker's CGI. The show is hardly about VFX.

Anyways, one man meat....

Lol.... Then why are you shitting on She-Hulk vfx if you don't care about the cgi too....
As far as it's cbm or series, VFX takes about 50% of it to make the movie or series enjoyable.....
Oga, no show ( cbm/s precisely) is about VFX but the VFX in it mostly makes the show or series more enjoyable, and VFX covers like 50% of it...

This is what happens when you stick to deadlines that must be met for project release. Hasty VFX.

While people where shouting Flash and Aquaman 2 delays was nothing CGI related. Now ppl are seeing the results and the truth. M-she-U getting their own Josstice League moment.

VFX artists are overworked and have large cache of projects spilling from 2020/21 into this year.
This is a project with $25mn per episode.

Bro, if you're talking about MCU series released so far and the yet to release ones with trailers out already,
then their vfx are far better than their counterpart
from WB released by far... No sentiment there.
DC series are very poor with vfx, even the HBOMAX PEACEMAKER compare to MCU Disnay+ series

They don't have to.

According to the books this is probably going to be a coming of age drama series.

This Aqualad grew up on the surface and is still coming to terms with his Atlantean roots, his ability to control water and his sexuality.

Then there is nothing special about it.
I can only be interested if they will do more of underwater shooting... That's what will make the show unique for me.
Also, I hate the LGBTQ thing die... It's the same reason I stopped watching the series Chucky despite the series is good...

Exactly. You can't tell what others can do until you try them.
My own concern is they should greenlight more DC content (series) on hbomax and splash the cash on them.
When I watched a series like His Dark Materials and saw the stunning vfx done on it, I keep asking myself: why can't WB splash the kind of money hbomax spent on that series on DC series. Comic book movies/series are currently the cash cow, spend more on your series and watch how it grows.

They're assets because they're doing a good job and they make money for the business. The revenue of WM/WB for 2020 and 2021 amidst controversies and covid-19 can attest to that.

If you feel finances to shoulder the executives is going to be a problem, the question should be, are the current executives good? If they are why don't you retain them and forget about the others since you can't involve both at the same time.

Going with Warner Media's performance when you consider it's revenue, awards, positivity sorrounding it's contents and increase in HBO MAX subscribers in 2021, all this amidst covid-19 and controversies, I'll say the current executives are doing a going job and if they're doing a good job, why replace them?

The ideal thing is to keep them and bring in others also and if you don't have the finances to do that, then forget about the others and keep this ones. At least, their performance so far is a justifying reason. The incoming ones, you don't even know if they're going to do well or not. So is it not better you go with the ones that you know are already doing well?

So calling for the sack of this executives, one just want them out, not because there's any tangible reasons to. So one just want them to leave for leaving sake or because one doesn't just like them or because of the Snyder drama or because they refused to restore the SnyderVers. Which are just emotional based reasons and not a rational one.

You don't need to eliminate people to give chances to others rather bring everyone into the system and if there's no finances to shoulder that, then live the already existing ones if they're doing well and forget about the others. What matters is the survival of the business and if the current executives can ensure that, then let them

Business is a going concern thing and change is the only thing that is constant. WB has been making huge profits and also getting oscar nominations and winning even before these guys join WB. Lord of the Rings: Return of the King still holds the record of winning most osacar awards in one night (correct me if am wrong.), so I don't see them too special. But if the new board wants to retain them then no wahala.

Between eliminating an asset and keeping him while getting new ones, which one is the smart choice? The latter. Keep your assets and Increase your asset portfolio, that's the principle that governs corporations.

Besides, is there any thing in space and time that stops WB from acquiring more assets while keeping John? Nope. Is there any law that states that the only way to get more assets is to eliminate the current ones which in this case are Geff,Kilar and Ann? Nope. So why do people think that's the way to go

Someone will be tempted to bring up the Snyder's saga but before anyone think of even doing that, ask yourself this simple question, do you cut off your head simply because you're having an headache? You don't.
So is it smart for WB to eliminate an asset simply because they stupidly eliminated one (Snyder)? Definitely not. If anyone thinks otherwise, then that person is just being emotional. You should be thinking of bringing the eliminated assets back instead of eliminating the current ones all in the name of giving others a chance.
The smart thing to do is bring back the eliminated assets, keep the current assets while expanding the asset base by bringing in new ones. That's what Zaslav should do instead of sacking people anyhow. This are people that have successfully run the company amidst controversies and covid-19. This so called house cleaning isn't a smart move at all.

As for Geff, I've stated it before, keep him in the comics division but restrict his power in DC entertainment, DC films and WB. He's an asset.

#Xavier
#DCian

I don't understand the assets assets thing you keep hammering here. These same assets, as you called them also have astronomical wages/salaries that it won't be fair on WB financial report/statement to try to shoulder such bills with also the incoming employees (to likely take over their positions). That's not an asset for me in any way, it's a liability.
They have tried, they should go. No b their papa business wey dem go die put. Let's see what the incoming ones can do....

I don't think the runtime affects its box office numbers. Reducing its time might make the movie disjointed and convoluted for better storytelling.
The number is perfect for a start, WB just needs to allow the director to continue his good work by not making (those their) panic decisions along the line.

And that is one major problem with CW shows. Good series/shows don't need to go that far, just make it.....maybe 8 and then up the budget quality sells more than quantity on things like this. The guy playing Superman/Clark Kent is doing a fantastic job, all they need is just to pump in more quality and watch how people will flock in for this show every Tuesday/Wednesday.
Series like The Walking Dead started with fewer episodes and with much quality and it became an instant hit globally, but they derailed from most of what made the show so big as they progress.
