Yes, building is stressful, at least in the Nigerian context. So why not reduce the amount of stress?
Why reduce the amount of stress when u can buy an already made one without encountering any stress?

I second the motion. Look for where you can get really good blocks around you. No when you mould and buy, the cost difference is not too much so just save yourself the stress.
U could have as well advised the d guy to buy a house so as to save himself d stress of building one. We all know building a house is more stressful than buying one? Quality is paramount in any construction project, not saving stress? The so called vibrated blocks are they really vibrated? How many blocks per bag do u think this block sellers produce? They are all after money, This is Nigeria.....

You are one of the few who think this way.
The thing is, girls are not wired to handle rejection like guys. You people are used to the snubbing and ish that comes from talking to a lady. A lady musters the courage and faces rejection, it's not easy. I got that attitude from someone I just wanted to be friends with, imagine how killing it must have been.
I quite understand d bold & salute your bravery....but try not to let it have influence on your perception....

A while back, I saw a guy on here that I thought I could be friends with because from his posts he stays in an area I just moved to. I sent him a PM, his reply was 'I don't do Nairaland girls'. I told him I just wanted to be friends. He asked how I got to know he stayed around that area, I told him I read his posts.
Guess what he said next? 'Quit stalking me, idiot'. I've never been more embarrassed my whole life.
so don't blame me if I don't send any guy PM on here or any platform for that matter.
Hmmm... Quite unusual...
I really do not know the reason for d said guy's hostility. But i can boldly tell u with all form of sincerity that most dudes would appreciate any lady that make's the first move. But i think u are getting it all wrong. It is obvious your perception on this issue is formed on the basis of only one guy. U don't establish perception based on a single encounter...Only one guy was uncongenial & hostile to u & u just concluded that is d way all guys will respond to any lady who PM them first? Now u see why guys will always be different from girls. Just the way some girls ignore guys PM, definitely some guys will do likewise to ladies. But d point is, why most ladies see it to be everyday thing from men, considerable number of guys will appreciate any lady bold enough to make d first move. It's a rare one & only brave ladies are capable of such...

U nailed it. If u try it just wait for ur chat screenshot on nairaland.
Lets be honest with ourselvses...How many screenshot have u seen on NL?
If u are saying girls can't open up because of their level of boldness & inabilty to handle rejection, we would understand...because naturally women are more reserved, modest, and shy. Not using screenshot as smokescreen. Guys admire ladies who open up...because we know considerable number of ladies can't do it...

You call it 'Forming', I call it conforming to the society's standard. Some guys think it is bad for a lady to put herself out there, she's just supposed to wait, make no move until she's 'found'.

And most ladies cannot handle rejection the way guys can, so we'll rather not walk down that path because you don't know if your target (guy) is one who'll make a big news out of the fact that you made the first move on them.
Forget what these guys say online, the whole 'I don't mind a lady talking to me first' thing is a lie. A Lady sends them a PM, they already have thoughts in the head.
Until guys learn to handle this part correctly, more ladies will keep to themselves.
This is not true...

Yes o... THis is the daily prayer ooo! Good women are not so easy to find nowadays, although they are out there!

THe most important decision a man can make in his life is who he chooses to marry! This must be someone who can take him to the next level of greatness, unfortunately, most girls are just looking for a guy they can leech from and live a comfortable life

One day one day sha, we shall find this girl!

Another painful thing I see regularly is a good girl marrying an a$$hole angry angry

If there's no good engineer in your village, you can simply walk up to a 400 level civil Engineering student in any higher institution close to you.
its a poor practice to "lock blocks at the edges in place of columns". I know that's how you build in your village but sorry to disappoint you, its not up to standard. Thanks!
It is because the blocks we make in nigeria are below standards....that is why people make use of columns to support it. If the blocks are of good quality, there is absolutely nothing wrong with building a bungalow without columns. 16mm reinforcement are used for duplex in nigeria, does it make sense to u to also use same for a bungalow? I think u should be learn more abt construction economics. Watch videos of other developed countries to see how they construct their bungalow. If u are a good civil engr, u should know over reinforcement is more dangerous than under reinforcement. using 16mm rebars for a bungalow is absolute waste of funds to be honest.

Nice thread. I'll be 29 later this year with a prayer to settle down on or before I clock 30.
I think I made a mistake couple of years back by not settling down when I had the chance with a girl; I just got a job she just finished nysc and was all over me to settle down, wish I grabbed that opportunity. Babe is today married with a daughter and we hang out, take her and her daughter to fast food and chill, no hard feelings.
Like the op said, I'm just too choosy now. I'm a final year doctoral student, two years ago I used to say I will not marry any girl who doesn't have at least a masters degree. Last year I dropped that to at least a bsc and working, men this year I just want a God fearing, good Lady..... I've been too choosy I guess.
Met an Akwa ibom chick couldn't move further (I'm AS and oh am from the south west) so it also kinda compound issues.
Single presently, hopeful this year nonetheless.
U are very fast i must say...

not up to 29 & u are almost done with your phd....kudos bro
