Gabicon20: Gather like 50 or more of your friends and neighbours names and reach out to them to form a non-profit association(By this I mean they won't be donating any money u just need their time). Tell d HOR u have an association that will deliver ur ward to him in the upcoming election and u can even invite him on a set date to talk to the people himself, don't worry those people will avail themselves for their own benefit, the HOR will be present for his own benefit and u will be organizing the whole thing for ur own job slot. Its a win win win situation so no offence to anyone. Those saying the HOR that will give u job wont stress u are CORRECT but look at it 4rm the perspective that he will be making calls and visits for ur sake and might even give gifts to agency heads 4ur sake, u are also stressing him in this election season when he should be focused so if he isn't benovolent enough to do it for free, pay your price. This is even cheaper and more rational than paying for the job. Goodluck. thank u |

Good evening my fellow job seekers. So i had this opportunity of meeting a house of rep member from my state last year and he promised to assist me get a job. He said i should let him know if i apply to any agency so he can follow up.
Now i managed to submit CV to 3 agencies so i called the person that will help me book an appointment with the honourable he said i need to carve out a plan for him to talk to the honourable. He said i should explain how assisting me to get a job will be beneficial for the honourable especially as he seeks re-election in 2023.
He's waiting for my feedback and I'm totally blank on what to do next. |

Asour: Again it depends.
A good start to getting a masters scholarship is to get a good GRE result. Combining this with a good first degree (High 2:1) & a convincing motivation letter + research interests topics can land you a good masters in your related fields.
See Victor Agboga's YouTube channel.
If you want an interdisciplinary masters (i.e. move away from your UG field), then Finance & IT are good options.
In Europe, check HSE university, Moscow, Polish universities also give scholarships & German schools are quite cheap but require funds in lien for studies to be approved.
Cheers. I appreciate you sir |
Career › Re: How Can I Advance In My Career In The Banking Industry With A Biochem Degree? by snapdragon00: 9:49pm On Jan 11, 2022 |
Asour: The CFA almost never grants scholarships. It is a US professional finance certification.
The best I know of is that if you do your masters (in Finance) in a CFA partner institution (like the HSE university, Moscow, Russia), you can get some exemptions (in exams) & thus can finish your CFA quicker than a regular student.
Note that the CFA is quite an expensive (& demanding) certification. It's not just a walk in the park. Each level typically requires about 300 studying hours. There are about 3 (increasingly tough)levels.
You could consider the CIIA (Certified institute of Investment Analyst) too. It's essentially a swiss finance certification. A direct European equivalent to the CFA. It's not as reputable in the USA or globally as the CFA though. But it's great.
Masters is a great option too, if you're not fixated on the US & North America, consider lesser known countries (schools) like Switzerland, Russia, Belgium , Germany & Austria too. Fish for good schools like : ETH Zurich, USI, Lugano or University of Geneva, HSE University, Moscow, St Petersburg state University, KU Leuven, TU Munich or TU Wien.
I myself plan setting out on a masters in any of these.
Always prioritize the substance of the course you're studying. You want something employable & rich.
Cheers. Thanks for the response. I'm not fixated on the US i just want a reputable masters degree abroad, i'm also not in a haste as I cannot afford it. This is why i'm willing to work hard and go on scholarship at least one that covers tuition... Which masters program do you think will put me on track to achieve my career goals ? |

Asour: My opinion- You should not just take it but think through - is that you don't remain in Commercial banking.
Commercial banking, unless you are sure of steady promotions is a commoditized career.
I would have said you should get a CIBN or ICAN but even that may not help if you stay too long in general banking. Unless if you are in a specialized function in a bank, the [technical] skills are hardly transferable. Specialized functions include: Legal,IT, HR, Treasury, Internal Audit/Risk or Accounts. These roles have equivalents in non-banking companies.
If you want to remain in Financial services Industry(but outside banking) Take CFA or CiiA (if CFA is expensive).
Funny enough, I find your industry very lucrative. The Reckitt benkisers, J&Js, Unilever, PZ, Freslands etc. would not exist without good biochemists. branding/Marketing spend are the difference between these guys & Nigerian brands. So don't cancel out going back — quickly too.
Financial services — Commercial banking— can become a very HOLLOW & Vapid industry. and when you're stuck it becomes hard to change. Wow i found your comment useful. My situation and the OP is 95percent the same but i'm a graduate of chemistry. I will like to remain in the financial services industry but i don't want to continue in a bank. I don't like the accounting path so i dont intend to do ICAN and the rest. I've heard about CFA but i have some concerns. I only want to do my masters abroad and if possible through scholarship as i am ready to put in the work. Please what is the possibility of doing my CFA fulltime in canada on scholarship? since CFA is not like a masters degree. I do not intend to remain abroad after my program. Ive also heard about MBA but i dont know which is better between the two. Also what other advices do you have for me sir? |

TV/Movies › The Reason Why Gulder Ultimate Search Can Not Air Everyday by snapdragon00(op): 4:27pm On Oct 24, 2021 |
Everyone saying they want the show to air daily, i also want that but it can't work. The reason is simple, it will cost the organizers a lot more. Ask video editors, It takes a lot of hours to edit a small 1hr video now imagine editing a video shoot of 24hr everyday and having to watch, pick out the important events, cut edit and put them together as a single video before starting the final touches. Its only achievable by a large team of editors that will eventually charge a hell lot of money. On the contrary, its easy for BBN to air 24hrs cus its a live broadcast without edits, all the media guys do sit and toggle between cameras.

Babanah: Float the naira now and do not announce the date for the commencement of the refinery. Speculators will eventually get their fingers burnt. Those who understand how fickle fx rates are under floating regime will be mindful about the price they purchase dollars. You are smart. but they won't do this cus they, their friends and their families are the speculators |

andyanders: Had different experiences travelling by air. It was like you are in a Molue bus when breaking the clowed. When you're travelling far, and the pilot announces that we're crossing Atlantic ocean, and up there, you can only look 2ru the window and what u see bellow is water, you get scared.
Another experience by travelling with helicopter, only 7 people during winter, was something else. Only had one nasty experience my first time travelling from LAG- Madrid- New York. An air hostel sharing food asked me 'what kind of Soda I want' I answered her, coke. She looked embarrassed. She now pointed to fanta and cocacola drink, I now pointed coke. She was like, oh, that's cocacola.
When she left, the white guy seated beside me, an American, now asked me, if that's my first time coming to America, and I said yes, as a student. He told me that all soft drinks are reffered to as soda, as fanta is orange and coke is cocacola. It was a good experience then. lol |

chitheo: Nice. Op, how long did the discomfort you felt in your ear last? And was it just blocked or it rang I.e tinnitus? Just impaired hearing. it comes and goes i think depending on the altitude the plane enters and it doesn't last long as long as i swallow saliva it stops |
Travel › Re: My Experience Traveling By Air For The First Time (update) by snapdragon00(op): 8:32pm On Oct 04, 2021 |
Joromi1: My first flight had me sweating profusely under AC. And it was my worst flight ever; just from Lagos to Abuja. Dana Air it was, the aircraft version of molue. I think I saw where they taped the wing sef... and the horrifying noise and vibrations. And that wing kept flapping in the air I thought it would pull off and hit one Fulani herdsman in the bush. To make things worse, one idiot behind me was recounting the Dana Air crash incident of 2012. I wanted to turn around and spit in his face but my fear was stronger. So I faced my front. I rejected their stupid coffee and cheap biscuits. If possible, I would prefer landing midway and completing my journey in a commercial bus.
That was my last with Dana. Booked Air Peace for return flight and the experience was better. Lol. when i saw its the new air peace embrae plane i was at ease knowing its new and probably not faulty |
