bjdon: What he's saying is that the Nigerian System makes people corrupt, even if they are good by Nature. My brother if you've never been in a govt position you will not know how hard it is. The corruption is all pervasive and all around you. There was story recently of a solider who was deployed to the Niger Detla, when they where out on patrol and encountered some oil smugglers, he witnessed his superior officer collect bribe from the smugglers. The officer proceeded to divide out the bribe among the men, and this soilder did not want to take his share. He was told in very clear terms that if he does not join in, then it means he can't be trusted.... you know what that means. In a country where the system works, that solider would have the confidence to go and report the matter to the Military police, but of course we all know he can't do that in Nigeria. So eventually the solider accept his share of the bribe. That is a clear example of a good person, being corrupted by the system. It is a very sad fact. exactly. many do not understand wat d man was saying. I am reading so many comments here & I begin 2 see reasons y many of our graduates are unemployable. |

Properties › Re: Photos: First Storey Building In Nigeria, Now Aged 170 Years Old by snellsun(m): 10:43pm On Aug 23, 2015 |
temmypotter: Reminisce.. I visited the building sometime in 2010 for an excursion! It was amazing!.. Let me see what I can remember about the building.. Yh.. Its in badagry.. Not so far away from other historical sites like the ''point of no return''-during the slave trade thingy.. Once slaves were taken to that point and beyond.. That was the last ever seen or heard about them. A boundary or some sort between badagry and whatever route they were taken through before the atlantic. At the time I visited.. There was a house.. Where the slaves were kept before moved,I entered.. It was real creepy. I could literally feel like I was among em slaves.. The place was so pristine just as I woulda imagined it was 200years ago.. Also there was a museum of some sort. With chains used for the slaves then.. Some clothing materials worn by slaves, the hand and feet chains, some crude tools.. And other things I can't remember now.. But the most fascinating object there was a Big bowl!.. Like a very round drum basin.. All the slaves would drink water from this basin at the same time! Sometime in the heat of the struggle.. Ppl wud hit their heads on d basins which happened to be quite rigid and be seriously injured... Finally.. The oldest storybuilding in Nigeria was also the house in which the late samuel ajayi crowther lived and died. I visited his office..there was a bell and a bible on the table covered with a silk material.. The bell was the late bishop's personal bell and the bible was the first bible translated into yoruba from English.. And might I add! I couldn't even read the bible.. The words there were so not like our today's yoruba bible...read more like what yoruba's call ''egun'' language or something to me.. The interior of the building is actually wood except the walls... Like the deck between the down floor and top floor.. So on the top floor, you'd literally be walking on planks of wood.. The stair case was also made of wood.. And I'm talking archaic styled!..other fascinating sites were in the compound,a school and other smaller buildings.. Can't recollect all now though.. But there was this well with water believed to be powerful and all encompassing.. For problems.. Academics, spiritual and.. All that!!, I scooped some anyways...even though I didn't believe the overly exaggerated advert.. Now badagry is some fun place to visit! yeah... I remember visiting in 2008 d tour guide told us d same story about d well.it was quite an experience. |

lastpage: Dont blame the "Gangsters".......or did you not read that they used GUNS?
And ask yourselves.......how come l have never come across any GUN, just lying on the floor or along the street?
When Police and Politicians (kai, see similarity!) buy weapons and arm these guys, for election rigging, you think they would simply become "civil" after killing someone during those elections? When these guys collect guns from Police, to use in armed robbery...you think those guns dont have other uses?
These gangs are the product of a "corrupt and broken system".....which NIGERIA is!
You get what you pay for!
Imagine, what will a "normal" Polytechnic Student be doing with street gangs, if he actually studied to gain admission (as opposed to bribery and exam impersonation) and has a "future goal" for such education? Is it a coincidence that 90% of our Counselors and LGA Chairmen are "NURTW Touts and Area Men"? This is what they (The Politicians) have turned this country to. This is what "cocaine-snorting Oju'yobo Tinubu", turned Lagos into.
We glorify all the 'Negative and Evil things" under the sun.
I guess a day will come when every citizen will have to take their own safety into their own hands.
These Gang members have this nuisance habit of destroying people's cars whenever they feel they want to make a point.
Residents must also "gang-up" and "do them" afterwards!
Enough of this impunity!.......if the "Security cant/wont do anything about it.
Lastpage! spot on. if only dere gang leader who obviously are connected 2 politicians are eliminated peace will return 2 d neighborhood. |

what difference does it make? unilag, maulag or malulag? the university is owned by the federal government...the vice chancellor was appointed by the federal government. the federal government pays the salaries of the staff.....are you saying they cannot name their own establishment any name they so wish?
if you build a house and rent it to tenants, you need their blessings to paint it? gate it? put a borehole or whatever? i just believe nigerians have their priorities misplaced. does the change of name devalue the certificate? does it increase the fees paid by the students? jonathan is indeed a mumu. if i were the president, i would have deployed a thousand s.w.a.t. teams to make those unruly tools some target practice. u speak witout wisdom. just go thru wat u av just written again and see ur ignorance. |
