PoliticsNigerian President Meets Muslim Dignitaries: Imam by snowdrops(op): 9:00pm On Apr 02, 2010
LAGOS — Nigeria's President Umaru Yar'Adua, who is in poor health and has made no public appearances since November, has met with a delegation of Muslim dignitaries, one of them said Friday.

"We met him yesterday, we shook hands, we prayed for him to have a speedy recovery," said the imam of the national mosque in the Nigerian capital Abuja, Ustaz Musa Mohamed, reached by telephone.

With three other Islamic officials, the imam went to see Yar'Adua at the end of the day on Thursday for a visit that lasted about a quarter of an hour, Mohamed told AFP.

"We sat with him, we met him sitting along with his wife and his aide de camp," the imam added. "He was recovering."

"We shook hands, he extended his hand to us. He also extended his hand again to say bye bye to us."

Yar'Adua, 58, was evacuated last November to a hospital in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, suffering from a severe heart condition. After three months in hospital he returned discreetly to Nigeria overnight on February 24.

His deputy, Goodluck Jonathan, became acting president of Africa's most populous nation on February 8, a status that was confirmed when Yar'Adua returned to his homeland.

No pictures of Yar'Adua have been shown since he left for Saudi Arabia and he has made no public comment, nor has there been a meeting with Jonathan, who has taken charge of the world's eighth oil producer.

Apart from those close to Yar'Adua, few people appear to have had access to the head of state since his return and no details have filtered out regarding his true state of health, which has led to media speculation.

Mohamed said that he and the other Muslim dignitaries had been received by Yar'Adua to judge his state for themselves.

Have you ever been to the nou camp?

I laugh at naive comments by many ppl here. The place is sooo intimidating. You cant here nothing from away fans. They are kept in a small corner in the stadium that they are hardly noticed.

Truth is arsenal did bravely levelling at 2-2. There is a lot that can be said about the match, but is best left till after 2nd leg.

spine:
To all delusional gunner fans:

listen to the words of your boss,

"We are lucky to escape with the draw, I cannot deny that," conceded the Arsenal boss. "We gave them too much room to play their football and we have to say Barcelona are an exceptional side. The annoyance for me is we gave them two cheap goals, but you have to say we were lucky to be still in the tie before those goals arrived.

"It's not easy to accept it when your team are outplayed, but it certainly feels less upsetting than when we are kicked by teams and drop points in the Premier League. What we saw from Barcelona was art and it added up to a great night for football in many ways. I still feel we have a chance in the second leg, but clearly they are a fantastic team."

I think those who decide matches before they are played will have a rethink, henceforth.

The match at Nou Camp will be more interesting as Gallas will be back and Song can now play his natural role in our midfield.

However, I don't think we will miss Fabregas that much because Nasri will play better in Fabregas' wing (in Fabregas' absence) >>> remember what he did in our 5-0 win over Porto?

Big father, i dey hail o!

Up ARSENAL!!!
Wenger just said in an interview that he seriously doubts gallas will be ready for the match.

@Omololu

Inter may come out of nowhere to win it this year.
Remember 2001 when Bayern won it, against all odds. Somehow Jose seems the hungriest of all the coaches. Arsenal are not really hungry, just praying for luck and doing heroics. Tactically they are rather deficient.
If Barca does not stop them next week, I think Inter will, via an old-fashioned italian job.
I share your sentiments. Inter are very strong and tactically gifted.
They are taking a 1-0 lead to russia.  And are on course to possibly face barca in the semis.

But i sense that might be the end of the road for inter, because they were competely out-played by bracelona in the group stages.

Definitely yes. Fabregas is fantastic, but messi is out of this world.

Funny weeks ago, it was messi/vs/ ronaldo,

later messi /vs/ rooney

now messi /vs/ fabregas

What does that tell you guys.

Anyway, for all its worth, lets reserve our comments till the 2nd leg. Its only half time in this quater finals.
