Bini chief, wife arrested over 2 actors' death A Benin palace chief and his wife (names withheld) have been arrested by the police in Benin in connection with the recent murder of two movie stars in his house. Also, the police are hunting for two of their children in connection with the murder of the actors. Police spokesman, Mr. Peter Ogboi, while confirming the arrest of the couple, disclosed that the police have intensified their investigation to unmask those behind the brutal killing of the movie stars. According to Ogboi, the couple, said to be the proposed in-laws of one of the slain actors, Mr. Erauyi Ogbeide, a.k.a, Ukeke, invited him to their family house in Benin City only to be killed along with his colleague, Mr. Eghosa Idehen, a.k.a Erejiro who had accompanied him there. It was alleged that the chief, on witnessing the killing of his guests in his sitting room, went into hiding instead of contacting the police, while his wife allegedly told the police that her husband was receiving medical attention in an undisclosed hospital for bullet injuries he sustained during the attack. The police, in its investigation, however, found the claim to be false. Their two sons, now at large, were said to have allegedly dragged the corpses of the actors from their parents' sitting room to the veranda of the house as soon as the gunmen left the scene. It would be recalled that the two Benin-based actors were murdered at about 8.45 pm on Tuesday, 9 March 2010 by yet-to-be-identified assassins http://www.modernghana.com/movie/6590/3/bini-chief-wife-arrested-over-2-actors.html |
KANO, Nigeria — A Nigerian Islamic Sharia court has banned Twitter and Facebook debates on the country's first wrist amputation for theft, according to court papers seen by AFP on Tuesday. The Magajin Gari Sharia court in the northern city of Kaduna on Monday ordered the Civil Rights Congress (CRC), one of the country's leading rights groups, to suspend its Twitter and Facebook online debates on the amputation, which was carried out in 2000. The court granted an interim injunction "restraining the respondents either by themselves or their agents, from opening a chat forum on Facebook, Twitter, or any blog for the purpose of the debate on the amputation of Malam Buba Bello Jangebe," said the order. Jangebe was the first person to have had his right wrist amputated on the orders of a Sharia court in Zamfara State, a year after 12 northern Nigerian states adopted the strict Islamic penal code. The order followed a suit filed Friday by the Association of Muslim Brotherhood of Nigeria, a pro-Sharia group based in the northern political capital of Kaduna, which argued that Internet forums would be used as "a mockery of the Sharia system as negative issues will be discussed". In the wake of the interim injunction, the case is set for hearing on Monday. The head of the CRC, Shehu Sani, confirmed to AFP that he was served with the court papers Monday. "We opened the blog, the Facebook and Twitter chats 10 days ago to serve as a platform for which Nigerians could air their opinions on Sharia law as a whole and the justification or otherwise of the amputation of the hand of Malam Buba Bello Jangebe," Sani said on the phone from Kaduna. Out of Nigeria's 36 states, 12 re-adopted a strict version of Sharia in 1999 nearly a century after it had been abandoned. Zamfara state in the predominantly Muslim north of Nigeria pioneered the move after the country returned to civilian rule following 15 years of military dictatorship. http://www.google.com/hostednews/afp/article/ALeqM5hTOGcCJg9Qj_tJIJO-ulASJZ8L7Q |
Every single day you come across news like this across all facets of governance in Nigeria. It is becoming broing if you ask me. We all know how everything will unfold. Maybe EFCC would be called who after a prolonged investigation and media slanging between both parties, the ex-minister might be brought before a court of law. He may then go to an executive jail for 2 weeks or fined 1 million naira for stealing 1 billion naira. Enough please. Why dont we make corruption legal since it has refused to be defeated in Nigeria. Who are we really kidding? Ourselves? The rest of the world? Corruption is endemic in Nigeria and part of the culture. Make it legal, and let ppl declare how much they intend to steal before going into office and how much they have stolen after. That way, we would save money that otherwise is wasted on bodies like the efcc and multiple panels and committes. Caporegime: |
Talk about regurgitating your vomitus. Phewwwww |
Jencejyde:Actually rooney himself will also vote for messi ![]() |
Fest7:Guy you know thats so wrong. Look at the stuttgart game. After the match their coach compared messi to maradonna and described hiim as "simply the best". Messi got 2 goals in that match. A-40:This thread is not about me /vs/ you, its about messi /vs/ rooney. Why dont you give this other issue a rest. Lets talk sports please. |
The truth hurts huh. Try and sleep on it dear. When you are sober you would see the sense in my advice. Again no need to be caustic. Grow up. |
debosky:I will quickly wake up from sleep because i know i am having a nightmare ![]() debosky:In life we meet ppl like that. What matters is not to stoop to their level and start trading insults. I hope he learns his lesson, after his offensive comments. |
About time if you ask me |
bombay:Well i guess time will tell and we would know who the lie is. The story or yourself. ![]() |
Sam Milla:But the match we are talking about here is the champs league semi-final in 2009 over 2 legs. From what i remember jose bosingwa played right full back both matches. |
blacksta:Fantastic piece. Imagine same old faces and names basically since independence in 1960. If its not them directly its their children, relatives, friends or associates. A small cycle ruling millions of people. I know same applies in most democracies but ours have been non- or under- performing and they keep recycling themselves. How pathetic. |
denzel2009:Common, Bosingwa is a right full back, and could not have played against messi at least for most of the match. You should have said ashley cole, malouda, essien and jt combined that pocketted him. |
khanye:Imagine an arsenal backline of eboue, campbell, sylvestre and clichy ![]() Na night of thousand laughs we go watch ![]() |
Memorable quotes after Zaragoza match on sunday; "I'm not sure he's human," said the Zaragoza playmaker Ander Herrera of Messi's display in their 4-2 defeat. "Tonight, I saw Diego Maradona," declared the Real Zaragoza coach José Aurelio Gay, "but at more revs per minute. There are no words left to describe him – he is interplanetary. We could have beaten Barcelona but we could never have beaten Leo Messi. If we had scored four, he would have scored 12." |
Everyone supporting Messi, wait until he plays against my team Arsenal, Sylvestre go pocket am ![]() |
cystein:Fantastic idea. There is need to get very tough with them. No negotiation, no ransom, immediate death penalty for all kidnappers and their associates. |
Aniblow:Na brother or sister you be bros? ![]() |
MuNeme:Story story. . . . . . Besides why are you blowing your trumpet here? |
Viciyke:No mind them. All these ppl clamouring for rooney are so funny. Even within the EPL he is not the most consistent player. This is the best season he has had by a mile. Drogba missed long periods due to injury and ANC yet he is only a few goals behind. DD has been amongst the higest goal scorers for every single season since signing for chelsea. Now that is a fantastic player you would want in your team. Not a ONE SEASON WONDER WAYNE RUBBISH IS. |
A-40: A-40:Guy you need glasses. How does Messi which you clearly wrote in your first post look like Ronaldo which you thought you wrote. Abeg go reboot your brain. |
Pastor Ola:Abi o |
I am impressed. Good on him. |
A-40:Emmm, bros, which station you dey watch you football? You sure say no be alien satellite you dey receive? Maybe your own dey show future matches ![]() |
sir-p2007:Well said. However you are wrong in a way. Messi is not a final yr PHD student. Thats an insult compared to the others. Messi is not even a professor. He is a PROFESSOR EMERITUS. What is left for him to become a TRUE LEGEND is winning the world cup with Argentina. Then his name can be put right at the top with people like PELE, DIEGO AMANDO MARADONNA and ZINEDINE ZIDANE. |
Its a shame that this made it to the front page, and that we are having this discussion for that matter. Rooney has one good season and yahoooo he is the best player ever. Last year it was C. Ronaldo /vs/ Messi. Next year who? Owen /vs/ Messi? Messi has CONSISTENTLY performed year in year out. His first game was a HAT-TRICK against Real Madrid. Common guys, its not April fools day yet. This is Messi we are talking about here, not any other person. He is in a league of his own at present. He typifies a world class player. |
Kobojunkie:Yes o. The king is dead; long live the king. Nothing has changed. Same old faces, they were just given a long deserved break from National looting. Talk of Jonathan being a reformist is pure BS. |
