Christianity Etc › Re: How Do We Pray Over Meal: Bless This Food Oh Lord! by snowdrops(m): 2:53pm On Feb 18, 2010 |
Joagbaje: The biblical and mature prayer over food is thanksgiving. It is an expression of faith which indirectly says "Lord i recognise this food came from you and I thank you for it" That is how to sanctify food. All the places Jesus prayed over food he never said " Father bless and sanctify this food" but rather he gave thanks.
When he fed thousands even though the food was small but when he gave thanks ,God's pressence came on it.
Matthew 15:36 And he took the seven loaves and the fishes, and gave thanks, and brake them, and gave to his disciples, and the disciples to the multitude.
At the communion table, he did thesame thing.
Matthew 26:27 And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, Drink ye all of it;
1 Tim. 4:3-4 Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth. [4] For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving:
Whatever you recieve with thanksgiving is sanctified. very well said |

Is this the time for massive experimentation or making our very best players blend more together as a team. Seriously do they expect the young under-20 and -17 players to make the world cup squad. A wild goose chase if you ask me. And what happened to the foreign coach. A sane nation would have employed one by now so that this would be his first match to get to know the players better. |

More or less same as in any other part of the country. Hold at least one million for fencing including erecting a gate. |

blackmann: i didn't watch the match but i just watched the replay of the controversial goal. I don't seem to get it. . . .Sol was trying to sheperd the ball back to fabianski but his foot mistakenly touched the ball. Mistake or no mistake, once the foot touches the ball, that IS a backpass and fabianksi has no business picking the ball up with his hands.
2ndly, i could count about 3 or 4 arsenal players strolling leisurely towards the goal. in any circumstance one or two of them should have at least gone to cover and block the player IMMEDIATELY to prevent the fast freekick.
Another thing i still don't understand is the reaction of Sol Campbell. why did he do that? once he realized the free kick, he should have blocked the player immediately, even if it means getting a yellow card, but i guess the emotions of the moment overwhelmed him.
lastly, Arsene Wenger is such in bad taste. i remember some seasons ago when Henry would play free kicks quickly which resulted in goals. he was happy then. now that the tables are turned, he's raking. the last i heard, the whistle that stops the ball, starts the ball. or is he saying that if it were his team that did the same thing he won't be happy? Karma's a B@TCH man.
My two cents. Very good observations. End of the day, the buck stops at Wengers table. He is the one solely responsible for bringing these players into the team; for buying only Sol Campbell, a 35 yr old retiree from an obscure league inot his team. This was his only signing in the transfer window, when his team has the worst defence amognst the title contenders. Sadly after all said it is going to be another fruitless season for them and players like Fabregas may well be heading fot the exit. |

Travel › Re: Airport Immigration And Their Monstrous Acts! by snowdrops(m): 5:47pm On Feb 17, 2010 |
seyibrown: Thess things happen and unfortunately the airport and immigration staff who are there support an guide passengers cause problems for passengers who do not 'appreciate'(bribe) them. I got the 'the photo doesn't look like you' story when I travelled for the first time too but didn't give any bribes.
Last time I left Nigeria, airline staff asked me to 'drop something' but I said I didn't work and was just a full time housewife.
My advise is :
1. be confident 2. ask questions 3. don't be too friendly or too cowardly 4. don't take too much cash with you - I personally don't take more than £100 and some naira to cover porter needs and a taxi fare if my family is not meeting me at the airport. Get friend of family to book your hotel in advance if you will not be staying at home. 5. Send the money you'll need in Naija to your Nigerian bank via bank transfer before you leave for Naija or get someone to send the money to you via western union or wire - A few extra bob expensive but saves a lot of hassle. Discourage corrupt officials by saying 'no' when asked for a bribe! If you don't do your bit to stop corruption, it won't stop! But then you end up paying transaction fee which you can save by taking the money with you. Besides western union gives a low exchange rate compared with what you ll be offered on the black market in naija. |
