illusion2: I have analysed the run up to the UK general elections and I have a feeling the English resent Gordon Brown because of his Scottish roots.
So tho' we complain about ethnic politics in Nigeria, its prevalent in the 'developed' world as well . Rubbish Tony blair is a scot as had previous PMs. They dont only recent Gordon Brown but the labour party as a whole. It appears they have passed their sell by date. Even if it were an English man heading the party such as Milliband, Johnson etc, the outcome for labour at the polls remains the same A certain electoral defeat and humiliation. |

True talk my brother. Its such a shame that talentless overhyped girls are being portrayed as the nations darling as the gutter papers "the daily wail" and the "scum" calls her. Its also being reported that chelsea are considering a hefty fine for cole both for the above escapades and alledgedly misleading his club vis-a-vis extramarital relationship during a tour of the USA last summer. So it seems there is one rule for terry and another for cole. Terry was filmed in November selling for cash priviledged assess to the clubs facility and he escaped with a pat on the back. The problem is the brits see marriage as another relationship where you can walk out at the slightest rpovocation. They are very selfish and dont give a hoot for the effects divorce may have on children. Apart from that there is massive money to be made from celebrity divorce. |

Oh well, last time i checked they are celebrities and supposed role models. |

They need 2/3rds [16 of the 24 lawmakers] of the house to impeach the speaker, but had only 13 so how can the speaker be legitimately impeached. I am not surprised that the former PDP thug Charles Idahosa is now the AC spokesperson. AC is now the new PDP, employing the same dirty tactics the PDP in Edo state has been condemned for on several occasions.

steve mike: Gba Gbam!, Aisha i appreciate intelligent people like you, some people lacks common sense, definetely the governor most have ordered one of the superior officers in his conveoy to make the arrest.
See how some people are concerned about the Governor's action rather than the crime that was committed by the police, Nigerians we are used to evil practice.
Could you imagin that i entered a public bus and the driver got to a check point and the police demanded egunje, the driver refused that he has all his vehilcle documents and driving license are complete, instead of the passengers to support the driver, they stsarted blaming the driver that he should settle the police that is not a new thing in this country, the driver had no choice than to give the polilce N50, in order to free him self from the castigation of the passengers. I felt bad that this country has a long way to go.
I feel sorry for my kids, because they would be born to a country that is highly corrupt and regardless to other parts of the world.
According to Femi Kuti "sorry sorry for Nigeria" Would the senior police officer be so daft that he will wait for an "order" from the governor with whom he was presumably sitting with and witnessed the same crime simultaneously, before making an arrest. The problem with most of you guys is that you have lived most of your lives under military rule when governors/head of state where more or less laws unto themselves. You cannot comprehend within your mind that these people though entrusted with much still have limitations. |

Sensational Headline, half baked journalism Very interesting. In that case alls well that end well and its good news. It makes perfect logic. |

keyremotes: Should the governor have just driven past? You just dont get it do you. If indeed the police officers were seen collecting bribes; they should be prosecuted as the law of the land stipulates. The governor did right is stopping to confront the alledged errant officers. But his next line of action in personally arresting them as claimed by the news paper article is the bone of contention. Did you get that |

Politics › Re: Governor Arrests Two Police Officers by snowdrops(m): 11:08am On Feb 21, 2010 |
Pifa: @snowdrops
The governor, by default, is the chief law enforcement officer in the state even though the actual practice of enforcing the law is the responsibility of the state's attorney general. That conferment is similar to the constitutional conferment of commander-in-chief on the president even though the president does not serve in the military. So, yes, the governor was within his right to make the arrest. I am not a lawyer but from what i know i am highly sceptical that a state governor can go around making arrests without a court order. If you are a lawyer, can you point out relevant sections of the constitution to at least educate the rest of us. |
