Saipro: Proud to say I'm a mid-tier civil servant and I'm onto my own building project. Needless to say, it's an uphill task of unforeseen proportions. God knows if I'd any idea of the resources it'd might've gulped, I'd probably not have forayed into to field. Yet. It's been a day at a time, clocking three years now. I'm a ways from finished yet it's guzzled no less than N5m. Part-ways thru ceiling & interior plastering. No mention of flooring nor fixtures. No mention of the time & ancillary resources it's consuming (add a number of sleepless nights tallying the available cash to expenditure plus afternoons of absolute lunacy when you get to the site and your yeomen seem to be working at a pace slower than the hard-earned cash you pay). Ever had run-ins with the TPDA?
Got the parcel of land ways back thus its cost ain't an issue. There are times I feel I'd have been better off sinking the cash into biz of sorts cos that's what you do when you build - sink raw cash. Not to dampen the mood in the house. Merely a reality call to mid- to lower echelon guys out there: it takes more than the mere desire to own or build one of these things. It takes the grace of God!
Lastly, kudos to the guys who thru honest means have become proud home owners. From the heart. Guy you have done well for your self. I say so because i have been there and felt exactly as you are. For what its worth, property remains the best form of investment. It is low risk, and its bound to appreciate. You just need to be patient. No need to rush things. Go according to your pace, may i say your pocket. You will surely get there. |

the problem is : when bellview eventually resumes their flights from heathrow, will the poster be willing to travel then? When he eventually decides to travel, can he rely on bellview not to cancel again and mess up his travel plans (knowing that bellview is numero uno regarding that) If i were him i may travel but i will make sure my parachute is ready and on standby. |

zexyworm: You do not have my sympathy. The fact that you went against common sense, by 'booking' a so-called airline (Bellview) that has effectively failed as a company and stranded thousands of passengers since August points to your intelligence deficit.
I'm sorry, but if you can't afford to fly, don't fly.
You deserve your situation, and I hope you learn from it. Book a REAL airline (BA, Arik, Virgin, etc.). Now that is cruel. Wetin poster do you? He impregnante ya pikin? |

Celebrities › Re: Pete Edochie: I Was Kidnapped By Unemployed Graduates by snowdrops(m): 6:17pm On Dec 12, 2009 |
mama-gee: Lagos, Nigeria - Popular Nigerian actor Pete Edochie, freed Monday night by the gunmen who kidnapped him a day earlier, has identified his kidnappers as "young graduates who did not have employment and were looking for how to survive".
Speaking with newsmen at his residence in Enugu, in Nigeria's South-east, Tuesday, Edochie described his experience in the hands of his abductors as 'ugly'.
He said, however, that no ransom was paid for his release, though the kidnappers had demanded 10 million naira (US$66,000), and that he did not lose any of his material possessions, including his telephone handset.
Edochie also said he neither knew where his abductors took him nor where he was dropped off.
``All I know is that I was able to pick a cab that took me to a hotel in Awka,'' he said. ``They told me they had no business kidnapping me at all. They did not manhandle me. They did not blindfold me, they did not gag me. They did not hack me. They did not tie me as they said I was their father.
``And somehow they knew a lot about me that I am good to people and that I assist people, particularly the down-trodden. They did not hide their faces and discussed freely with me. They bought me some drinks, made sure I did not `get alchoholically dry','' he said.
The actor said crime would be reasonably checked if government could ensure the welfare of the unemployed youth, as done in the developed countries.
Edochie's abduction was the latest in a series of kidnappings, now spreading across the country, which are apparently aping the situation in the restive Niger Delta region.
The wave of kidnappings has forced many states to pass tough laws prescribing the death penalty and life jail for convicted kidnappers SIMPLES |
