Maybe the hospital where the young man do go for treatment , it is the doctor that do give him injection and take his BP and other stats.
In the engineering profession , we have different cadres and every one dey their dey.
The cadres are :
1. Artisans ( the generator repairers, car mechanics, electricians, etc). The basic qualification is apprenticeship, O'Level or Trade Test( City and Guilds equivalent ).They are the ones saddled with repairs. Funny enough in Nigeria , you will see a car mechanic been addressed as an engineer in social functions.
2. Technicians. Those that have OND and have hands on experience on repairing/installations as well.
3. Technologists. Those that have HND. They are also trained to have hands on experience in repairing/installations and supervision.
4. Engineers. Those that have B.Eng. They are trained to design, supervise and financial estimations. It is advisable for engineers to go and get hands on experience on repairs/installations.
For example , it is not the duty of an electrical engineer to carry out the installation of wiring. But is is highly advisable he do it so as to get hands on experience for him to be a better designer/FEED preparation.The electrical engineer is the one behind the FEED( Front End Engineering and Design) work,that is , the drawings, and cost estimation.And supervision as applicable.The Technologist is saddled with the aspect of supervision.
