BlueRayDick:.... Oga, I watched most of Arsenal's matches last season, and I know what I saw. His penalty against crystal palace won't be counted as a mistake, neither did his push in our box during the Tottenham's match be counted as mistake in his stats. Stats are good but don't tell the whole story. ... I am not exaggerating, I already said he is a good defender; a sound header of the ball. Against Watford, he attempted to clear thirteen headers and succeeded. That match was one of his best last season, only to capitulate against Crystal palace few matches later. That's Mustafi for you; Erractic, passionate but very inconsistent. You never know which Mustafi will play the next match, how can a coach trust such a player? |
Fkhalifa:....Chill on the bench to be collecting 90k when his wages can be used to sign a sensible centre back. |
BlueRayDick:..... He was better than a lot of defenders last season according to stats but in actual play, it's a different story. Everyone cannot be wrong about him na.. .... He makes so many mistakes that Mar the efforts of the team. Yes, when Koscienly first came, he made but he improved and his partnership with Mertesacker made a good shied for their keeper to win the golden glove even with a midfield without a proper dm. ... Mustafi has not improved, only getting worse. Most his errors are from and not the fault of others. Let's be real here. |
Dreamswayne:...... Raising his hands when play is still on and letting the opponent score is the fault of midfield na, abi you don't know.... ..... The club is doing everything it can to sell him but it's hard to get him off. It's just frustrating. |
Marcelini:.... That's the problem bro, he doesn't want to fix his mistakes and that's says a lot about him. No sane coach will buy him for that amount, Arsenal value at 25m because they know we won't make a profit on him. Good defender but a ticking bomb waiting to happen. |
BlueRayDick:..... You were not here last season when he let Zaha score and then turned around to blame Leno for his own error, asking him why he didn't come out for the ball. .... Against Crystal palace last season, he made two grave errors: one where he caused a penalty and the other where he let Zaha score. Against Tottenham, he pushed Kane needlessly in the box, causing a penalty and making the score 1 - 1. Were these lapses in judgement caused by the team's play, coach style, average midfield, poor partner or just someone who just loses it sometimes? ..... Mustafi has been here for over three years and very window, Arsenal has always tried to sell him. This just shows that as a player, he has failed to impress two good coaches. |
..... Stats doesn't reveal everything.... You need to watch Mustafi and see why even the fans want him gone. This is a guy that will stop play without hearing the referee's whistle to protest something leaving his defense and keeper to the onslaught of the other team. He has done this repeatedly over the seasons and has his usual brain farts where he loses concentration but instead of taking the blame, he will blame someone else in the team. Any player who won't take blame, doesn't his errors and will never improve. That's the problem with Mustafi, he has failed to get better over the seasons and iron out his bad areas in football. ..... He is a very good defender, raking up the stats but actual play is something else entirely. |
Spy360:.....Yup, exactly. |
kokaneprodigy:.... True, very true. A few minutes of action against Newcastle won't be bad. |
DeadPresidents:.... I know. My point is that Pepe cut short his holiday to start life quickly with his new team, just shows how dedicated he is. That's what I was trying to pass across. |
..... Mehn, this Pepe mean business oh, guy is already with the first team training.... .... Rob Holding trained with the first team today, I hope he is not being rushed back. If not, good news then ... By the way, where is Iwobi? Pepe cut short his holiday but Iwobi still dey flex ![]() |
Spy360:.... On his day, Ceballos is destructive too but between Ozil and him finding that amazing form, my money is on the younger player. .... Xhaka is very important in our midfield play, the manner in which he spreads play is vital to how Emery wants his team to play. Ceballos will most certainly bring in another style but right now, it's only Guendouzi that can do something similar to Xhaka's role in our current midfield and he is still learning the trade. Yes, I would want a better player in Xhaka's place, but for now, it's not a if for Granit's place in Emery's team, it's certain. Except if Ozil brings his A game like I predicted in game 1 -- 6, if not, once Ceballos is settled, it's straight into the first team. |
..... Krystian Bielik joins Derby County for #10m with a sell on clause.... |
Fkhalifa:...... I think people get carried away too quickly and majority of our fans have short term memory or are just obsessed with a player. .... We all witnessed the complete collapse that was our midfield whenever Xhaka didn't play last season and yet you see funny formations where you have Ozil, Ceballos and Torreira to play in a midfield in England! Lmao! ..... Emery is not stupid to use such a formation with a woeful defense at the back. .... Apart from Leno, the first player on that team sheet is Xhaka.... Ceballos was brought in to compete with underperforming Ozil, even with the delusions of grandeur common with some of our fans as regards an aging player, it won't happen. I surely expect Ceballos to be a first team player by game six or seven and Ozil will be the one to take the fall. ... Xhaka is the only physical midfielder we have currently in midfield however his mobility and must start at the base of the midfield except if he is having a stinker of a game and trust Emery, he will haul him off at halftime. .... I don't know how the defense or attack will be arranged because Laca can play as a false nine as well as a #10 as we have to be careful with two inverted wingers coming in centrally at the same time. Lyon's second goal happened because Auba had drifted in centrally but I expect Emery to speak with both Auba and Pepe concerning that. But for our midfield, Xhaka who is likely the first Captain will be the first name on the team sheet. No doubt about that. |
iamoyindamola:..... The bodybuilder you mean ... defender of Ozil. |
iamoyindamola:..... The bodybuilder you mean ... defender of Ozil. |

..... 'Reporter for The Scotsman and Edinburgh News, @BarryAnderson_ [Reliable] tells me he thinks Arsenal’s 3rd prospective bid for Celtic’s Kieran Tierney will be accepted before the deadline. #AFC ready to meet Scottish club’s demands of deal worth £25m. (£20m upfront + £5m in add-ons)' |
iamoyindamola:..... Baba, this one na record signing..... Lol, besides, If Raul promises, he delivers....he is not like that other one from the Red city in England ![]() |
.,... Say what you want about Emery but the man knows what he wants .... Big shout out to BDR ..... He promised and he delivered. |
.....Unai Emery played crucial role in convincing Nicolas Pépé – TF1 TF1 have today reported further details relating to Arsenal’s €80m capture of Ivorian attacker Nicolas Pépé from Lille, which is due to be made official imminently. The outlet claims that Inter Milan, Liverpool and Bayern Munich all positioned themselves for the ex-Angers winger already in January, but LOSC ruled out a mid-season departure as they did not want to hinder their Champions’ League push. They also affirm that Pépé chose not to move to Bayern Munich or Liverpool because they could not guarantee him playing time. They claim that Manchester United also refused to guarantee him game time and in any event the Red Devils informed relevant parties that they could not afford to make a bid without selling first. Inter Milan’s €80m proposal was the first formal offer, but the appointment of Antonio Conte saw the club move on to different priorities. Pépé is said to have principally honed in on Arsenal and Napoli, with both sides offering him consistent playing time, but ultimately chose the Gunners because he felt that their project was more ambitious. He was told that the club intended to return to the Champions’ League immediately and in the medium-term go back to the top of the Premier League. The conversations he had with Unai Emery, according to the outlet, played a big role in his mind. However perhaps the most critical element was Arsenal’s proven track record of nurturing French and Ligue 1 talent, in the image of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang & Alexandre Lacazette. TF1 also affirm that the salary proposals were identical from both sides: €8m a year net. |
.... He will be earning around 90k per week from his best of 36k per week while in Lyon. |

Dracokiz:Replied. |
