that's what should have happened yesterday instead of Emery telling them to defend 2 goals lead, the defence is the most useless the best way is to keep possession and attack
....I think the choice was a hard one since our best defender was off the pitch and we were clearly tiring. We don't have the players to keep possession and so he decided to defend at least until the end of the match but sometimes I think Emery gives too much credit to his players but then it's what he has. But Nketiah should have won us the match, it was just similar to the Europa final where we missed countless chances but and that cost us again.

Hey God!

Chambers nítorí Ọlọ́run!

How players like that stay for a long at arsenal baffles me yet it's more like we frustrated quality players like Podolski, Campbell...etc
..... The wages of these "wonderful" players scare off people that might want them. Who will pay 90k for a comedian like Mustafi every week? No one, and we either sell Chambers for a low price or let him play as Baba no wan go loan again. We go just manage that defense until Holding come back but if we get Tierney and a winger, the pressure on the useless defense will reduce. Kolasinac/Chambers/Sokratis/AMN/Xhaka versus Liverpool na horror movie abeg huh

... Holding won't start matches at least until November. He has to be eased in because of his injury. So it will likely be Sokratis/Mustafi/Chambers/Montreal/ Koscienly except if we get another defender this window. Emery doesn't seem to trust Mavrotanos.

Overall, I will say Arsenal had a successful US Tour for 2 important reasons.

Young Guns
For the first time in a very long time, we saw talented academy players who despite their age show a lot of promise and prospect. If you are an Arsenal fan you have to be excited about the development of Willock (who is ahead of the curve), Nketiah, Saka, Olayinka, Burton, and John Jules. We did not see much of Smith Rowe because he is recovering from an injury but he is also a good one. While all of them may not transition into our first team, we can get reasonable sums for these guys if they continue to develop at Arsenal if they are sold. Also, Young players like Nelson and Martinelli who are more experienced also showed they can play important roles when called upon.

Penetrating the US Market
All our games during the tour were well attended. If you watched the games you would observe that Arsenal fans drowned the supporters of our opponents and when you consider we played some very good teams, I will say that is a huge plus as we try to penetrate the US market. I remember before this tour I posted the importance of this tour from a financial standpoint for the club and I think we did a very good job in increasing our US fanbase. The success of the tour is also buttressed by how fast our new Adidas Jerseys have sold out. They are not available online or any store in the US or the UK and this drive is largely influenced by the fact that Adidas has a strong base in the US even though they are not an American company. This success will have a huge impact on our finances.
. I am glad you are finally convinced of Willock's ability and that it was no fluke. He is good and very matured in his gameplay for his age. The way and manner he beat the press against Madrid was impressive because Xhaka, a first team player couldn't and did his trademark nonsense of losing the ball in dangerous positions. Although, right now, Xhaka is irreplaceable in our midfield and I don't think Willock will be the guy to replace him, neither is Guendouzi as they are slightly different players but that Burton guy has shown promise. Fantastic talent.

.... Well, surprise, surprise, the tour was successful in terms of finance but a trophy would have been a boost for the young lads and players in general going into the season. A Champions League finish this season, a Europa League title and reaching beyond the group stages of the champions League should we quality will mean that KSE are doing better than before as see in the Nuggets team. Let's see how things play out.

..... Well it's good that Emery has that pull to convince certain players to join, I thought we lost that after Wenger left. Nice to know it's still there.

.... Ceballos might be used as that number 10 that runs all over the place, something similar to Rakitic's role when he played for Emery. Ceballos doesn't have that ghostly instinct of moving into the box quietly like Ramsey does effortlessly, but he will be that technical connect between the defense and attack we have lacked for so long now. Strategic signing by the board.

... Now, it's a good or die affair for Tierney and Zaha/Everton although personally, I don't see Zaha happening.

I hope Emery decision won't ruin him this season again angry
....Lol, you don start again. Marcelo and Ascencio ripped Jenkinson a new one, Dude was literally murdered by those two.

... Xhaka kept losing possession and Nketiah lost two golden chances to win us the game. How on Earth is that the Coach fault? I think we tried taking on the fire power of Madrid till Penalties but it should never have gotten to that if Nketiah had taken his chances.

.... Nketiah needs to work on his composure and Lacazette has been very average recently and please get us a winger and put Auba in the middle. He would have buried Nketiah's chances.

.... For me, Emery did well.

65mil + Nelson on loan for Zaha. I thought we gave up on Zaha to pursue Everton Soares already.
.... They want 65m + a permanent player and a player on loan for Zaha! which is ridiculous. Emery wants him at all cost, I see this dragging on till deadline day.

.... There's a rumour that Gremio owns 50% of Everton and other third parties own the remaining 50. Which means since Gremio is asking for 40m Euros for the player, we might end up paying a total of 80m for him. I don't see that happening but then it's just a rumour.

.... Zaha is our number one target this summer. He is viewed by the board as the difference between between qualifying for champions League and not qualifying but not for the price Palace is asking.

Baba, you may be right about Willock being ready for first 11 competition for spots. The kid has been quite impressive thus far. But I will hold my judgement for now until I see in a competitive game his so far he has made significant progress and looks very confident.

I know I said it before and I will reiterate that whatever we do, we must keep Saka and find ways to get him involved in the first team this coming season. The kid is very good.
..... I honestly didn't expect to see such maturity in Willock's game so early in his career. I am shocked! He uses his strength well and doesn't get dispossessed easily. He knows what to do with the ball and his height helps too in his gameplay. His technical play still needs some brushing and this is where I think ESR edges him and even Guendouzi who has an excellent eye for the through ball that just cuts through everyone. But he will get better and will certainly play for the first team this season. He has been that impressive same with Eddie.

.... Saka is certainly a dilemma at this point; too good for the U23s but not yet matured for the first team and staying on the bench won't help him. He should be sent on loan preferably to the a team in Germany where he will be used. Martinelli is certainly higher than him in the pecking order and with a winger coming in together with Nelson and Iwobi, Saka won't get many minutes. For the club to have picked him ahead of Amaechi says a lot about him. By the way, I am still unhappy that Amaechi is leaving, such a good player.

.... Gabriel Martinelli's first touch, control, nutmeg and run was delicious to watch, it was Alexis/ Igwe - esque - beautiful to watch just sad it didn't result in a goal.

.... Tierney is really important for us next season. A back 3 destroys our midfield and forces our play through wonderful players in Kolasinac. I am still searching for what Wenger saw in that guy to be honest huh

...... Lacazette is showing that he must be in the starting eleven even if we get wingers. He can be the #10 that Emery wants - strong, a decent dribbler and a good pass on him. We have Iwobi, Lacazette, Mhi, Ozil and the incoming Ceballos.

... Anyone who doesn't turn up, na permanent seat for bench straight.

We were linked with him last year, but Bayern saw am as the heir to Ribbery, Bayern knows the importance of such players, good dribbler and crosser of the ball, players like that makes things easy for the likes of Lewa and Muller..how I wish Auba can be blessed with such..

I'm also confused when I read Mr Kroenke and Emery saying we are after a big expensive signing,my mind went to Zaha, or could Everton at £36 be that our expensive buy?
If none comes at the end, Emirate will be as dry as those Egyptians stadium I bet you.
..... Personally, I think Auba is wasted on the wings. He is a finisher and should be in the box. Enough of starting both him and Laca at the same time. That game against Bayern was all blistering counter which Ozil was really involved, which shocked me to be honest but there was no real connect. Another fast winger in place of Lacazette would have improve our attack greatly...

.... I hear Everton will not play on Saturday because he will be signing for us but if he plays, then he might not be coming. I think Arsenal will get him as Palace don't want to release Zaha. Tierney, Saliba, Everton, Ceballos and that giant defender from Olympiakos won't be a bad window. A right back too won't hurt.

.. A man can dream grin

My eyes were glued on Willock throughout the first half. The kid is confident on the ball and has a lot of energy to move around the pitch. He matched Thiago and Tolisso in the middle and combined well with Xhaka. Again, this is just preseason and I will not make any conclusive technical judgments but the kid is showing his worth.
....Yes, it's preseason but I think he is the most matured of our youngsters, his play in the Europa finals was my final verdict on him. He is good and it's surprising because he was the least hyped amongst the brothers. Strange how things work.

The classic number 10 position is dead in modern football...

Ceballos and Iwobi will compete for a spot in the dynamic midfield three... The remaining two should go to Xhaka, Torreira, Guendouzi and Maitland Niles...

Come next summer, we try to shift Xhaka and bring in someone like Partey...

The Dream cheesy cheesy
........ Partey will go for not less than 60 - 70m if Athletico Madrid decides to sell. I don't think Arsenal will spend that much on a midfielder even if we shift Xhaka.

..... The use of the number ten will depend on the formation Emery wants to use, 4-3-3 or 4-3-2-1.

How do you guys see that Everton sourez, he looks like countnho on the wings and a bit Sanchez, also ceballos looks tempting on YouTube, hope they aren't scammers
. I tell you bro ....

...... Zaha is taller and stronger than Soarez and so can't be easily bullied off the ball but Everton is faster and a better finisher than Zaha. Soarez was the best player at a just concluded tournament while Zaha didn't really light up Afcon. Zaha is epl proven though but older and we might struggle to get even half of what we signed for him. Soarez is 23, Brazilian and will fetch a sizable sum if he flops and at least 60 - 80m if not more if he turns out to be the player we all see in him. Soarez seems to be the better buy if he doesn't flop though but seriously I doubt it because this guy benched someone like Richardhison, he is that good.

.,... Ceballos was one of the biggest prospect in Spanish football some months back especially in that match when he bossed Barcelona while he was at Betis. He has issues with Zidane and while he is not the Ramsey kind of replacement, he is far more creative and a better connect between the midfield and the attack. Even if we sign him on loan, I still want to see Iwobi as the number 10, he really performed well in that role at Afcon. Both Soarez and Ceballos will be fantastic signings.

Your head is too correct, infact this has been my opinion since day1 of last season, anybody that disagree with everything you put up there is a kindergarten in football..

At the bolded, ii remembered out game against Everton, they could have scored 5 against us, what do you expect when Kola goes forward always waiting for a pass he can run to for cross and cut backs and never tracks back, Niles doing the whole attacking job and has to run back to catch up with hazard..you have Auba/laca uptop, ozil behind them( those 3 are always meant to be uptop) you have an immobile Xhaka( who gets overrun easily) Guendozi( who gets bullied easily) Torreira( Who after running upanda and gets fatigued, gets muscled and bullied for his size)..

Opposition loop ball into either of their pacy wingers, they've got space to run to, you see 4 against 3 defenders and gbam we get punished.

See how Ndidi/Etebo made our defenders looked so good, Musa and chuwkwueze made Awaziem and Ola Aina/ Collins look organized, they don't bump forward anyhow, they focus majorly on defence before anything else..

Man city and Liverpool's have got wingers who won't allow you attack them anyhow, you attack, they kill you on the counter, you pack bus, they concede none or little.
..... Your head is there bro. Those two protected the Mustafinhos in our defense but even that wasn't enough for them, Ekong still did his thing... grin

.... Most people forget how Bayern with Peak Robben and Ribery gave teams nightmares. The seven goal destruction of Barcelona that year was the highlight of their prowess all because Barca came all out for them. If you pack the bus against them, Salah, Mane, Sane, Bernardo Silva, Mahrez, Sterling have the trickery to break down that defense. Mancity have 5 of these wingers, quality ones: Liverpool has two; Chelsea has Pedro, William, Odoi and Pulisic; Man United now has Martial, Rashford and now James; Tottenham has Son and Moura and we have None .

.....The best wingers in the league are in City, Liverpool and Tottenham and we all witnessed what they achieved last season. Two of those wingers won the golden boot with a striker for that matter. It's amazing what we achieved last season without one, but we will get nowhere without one this season too. Can't see how anyone can't see this.

Is it a must for Arsenal to sign wingers this season?

The pattern of play last season without wingers, with auba and lava scoring goals left, right center was good. Signing wingers might only disrupt the style of play. There are more pressing issues than signing wingers this season.
..... Bro, it is very important that Arsenal signs a winger even if it's just one. We had no play pattern last season because we do not have the players to carry out what the Coach wants. Emery plays 4-3-3 or 4-3-2-1 formation with deadly wingers on both sides of the pitch and a hard-working number 10 pulling the strings. The only person that can play on the wings is not a natural winger and we all know Auba is not either even though he tried last season.

.... The lack of wingers forced Emery to play 3-5-2 with the full back overlapping to do the work of a winger but that left the midfield completely open as one of the double pivot moves in to cover for the overlapping fullback if we did not want a simple looping ball to kill us. The open midfield was what Chelsea used to finish us at the finals last season. So, the formation works well for cutbacks for strikers to score but leaves space left by the fullback wide open for a looping ball and if one of the midfielders leave to cover that space, the midfield becomes wide open. It's the reason we leaked a lot of goals last season because of the pressure on the defense from the open midfield.

...So a decent Left back will allow us return to a back four and a tricky winger will put other teams on the defense, reducing the pressure on our defense and our midfield will stay in shape. This is why we have been chasing Tierney and tricky wingers this summer, they are the top priorities for us next season. Wingers are the reason Liverpool and Mancity are the most dreaded teams in world football right now. No one is stupid enough to go all attack mode on them because of their wingers, their midfield retains their shape and in turn there is little pressure on their defense hence why both teams had the lowest number of goals conceded Last season. So, yes wingers are extremely important.

......Josh Kroenke has finally replied after the protest of yesterday to say that he actually cares. The open letter is on Arsenal's official website and he also says that he is excited about the transfers coming in.

....Well, who wouldn't be? In the last three days we have had a second bid rejected for Tierney with a third one already on the way. Dani Ceballos is close to joining us on loan with no option to buy from Madrid, Everton is on his way for 28m and we are also looking at Dani Alves. Saliba is still on too.

...Yes, the deadwoods are still there and might not leave till the end of their contracts but if we get these deals done, I will expect nothing less than third with at least a trophy this season.

.... Edu coming in seems to have sped things up and it is becoming obvious we won't sign Zaha; personally I think he shouldn't have signed that deal last year. I feel for the dude though.
