ur ambient light sensor is either bad or ur ROM is faulty. It should lower the screen light in dark areas and not of screen light.

though am not an android fan anymore but I have used enough to know that the most likely cause is that the OP did not remove the 1st layer of screen protector that is use to cover the screen during sales or d main screen guard is blocking the ambient light sensor from sensing the real light conditions, but pointing the touch directly forces more light through the screen guard.
its that or the is has a sensor bug...

The Dec.14 release actually started as people ( with targeted phone models) saw the updates but it was later pull from the public servers as there were complains about a certain " low memory message and others getting stuck". so while some who check for update at tha time saw it and later didn't, some many others didn't even notice as you have to be check for updates in order to see it.
Ms promise to release before year end.

though insiders already has the version DAT was to go out being the ...586.29 build.

if the update you are stalling is ...29 build. u have experience something like Dat...turn off the phone n just plug your phone to charger...it will turn on, and connect to the WiFi back.
note if its or 1st windows 10 update will need WiFi...any type.

your app will remain but your phone may not function well if you don't do a reset after you upgrade. not soft reset o, factory reset.

you have allow your phone to update over mobile data but make sure to plug your phone to a charger

Mind u, not all app u see on store can be compartable to WP yet. Some are not yet ready. Bfore u download any app, read tru the reveiw n if possible brows n read d reveiw at the WP.com, esply dos uncommon app.

do you even listen to what you just said how can an unready app be published to a store such as Windows...all apps on the store are dully tested, ready and compatible with wp ( except if it exceed ur ram limit ), something from ur phone must be the cause...I will try install it on my phone to check it out

ithere must be a malware in the processes hidden as system apps which causing the files to be automatically downloaded to your phone, 1st and foremost, am sure the phone is rooted , take out the SD card and go to the super SU or SupwrUser app and delete(forget) All the apps in the list and set the permission to automatically deny all request. or if you can't do without ur root access. make sure u scrutinize any app requesting super user access.

that should sole the problem. but you should take time to find the app hidding inside system apps list.

change your download location den if u notice Dat wen downloading, the indicator get to the middle n stop...just restart the phone n go straight to the store again...Dat should do it.

bros who told u...the previous version build 10.0.10586.11 was the version Dat came with the new 950/XL and bro dats a $500+ Phone, the lat one week brought in build ...29. and trust Dis 950/XL is more stable than Android Marshmallow on Samsung s6 Edge. ( Check...people are already complaining of lags, heat up n being stuck on d recently upgraded Marshmallow).

I have been using the last 3 build as my daily driver and so fr apart from some minior bugs its awesome.

we all forget that the app gap is mainly the developers that caused it and not Microsoft, since u can't put any crap in guise of app on windows because u want to make money like people most developers Do on android store.

the few app available on windows are well scrutinized...though I admit more apps are need but bit not android that makes the app in it stores, so MS won't leave it duties to start making apps they have all they need in their store, those they make are by far better than android own make ( cortana beats android personal assistant, outlook is also by far be that than gmail and the new office 360, hmmm, also MS have even gone ahead to publish tool to make easy conversion of android, IOS apps and games ( did u even know you can install android apps on W10 Mobile now with few personal tweak and yes I know how ).

The One of the 2top selling game consoles not Runs on W10 To ( Xbox One was the top selling ).

Enough is said, now what do you want on windows that you can find let's work on that now...

u said "successfully" which means it started right? now, for app make sure ur settings are OK in windows store ( allow mobile data n apps to run in background) and also let apps go to the device instead of your SD card but put other downloads files on SD card. as for d music make sure to be patient as inbuilt down loader is windows explorer...but u can download UCbrowser dats what I use or Surfy Browsers but UC is very fast.

FYI. W10 is way beta Dan 8.1 try upgrade using insider Preview app.

am not quoting anybody this time so we won't have to quarrel but rather m here to help you you improve your windows experience and in so doing we can all enjoy the great features windows has to offer.

firstly, I'll lik to state that "WE CANNOT EXPAND BEYOND THE LEVEL OF YOUR KNOWLEDGE BASE" so if we want to go far in life our way of thinking can not be shallow nor based on the perception of others but we must all strive to know for our selves the limit to anything in life rather than be limit by what we hear.
Secondly, we must be ready to forsake what we think we know and open our minds to the possibilities all around us.

I still have one what I use as backup and also as my WiFi hotspot for my lumia phone ( thanks to Glo bis of 1k for 3gb but dats just Nigerian Telecom wahala ). but reality my windows phone is mobile office.

to those who cling to the "app gap" idea, pls tell me which app do u need for your daily work (games n fun aside) that is not on Windows phone...even the so called ( facebook, twitter, instagram etc.) beta apps packs the necessary features that are required for the daily and regular use. ( I stand to be wisely corrected).

android is nothing but an apps glorified OS. with no idea of how to moved ahead. ( even the Chroombook idea was a bigger slap in google's face...for daring to even think of going up against window as an os, even Apple's ipad Cant compete with MS Surface book, Google came with Google Glass to prove they are good, so a year later Microsoft is out with Windows Hololens ( glass that displays the windows os in holographic manner that users can interact with by physical touch) ...thats what we only see in James Bond's movies now made a reality with windows 10)

Anyways, for this those thread and those who are new to windows phone...let's stop thinking you make the wrong choice of phone and start making the best out of the great devices.

if u are on the .29 build u will know Dat the os is more ready. also taking into account Dat red storm is scheduled for 3rd 'Q' of 2016...they will surely release W10 and just fix d little bugs with some cumulative updates.
