Romance / Re: Silliest Thing You've Ever Done To Get A Guy's/girl's Attention? by solowork: 5:32am On Nov 30, 2013
EmmanuelIbeh: Hahahahahahaahaha. I've done a lot to get a gal attention but I think the highest one is the day I met a gal in a car park. I've already boarded and I was in the bus when she came. She was very beautiful, so I had to get her attention at all cost. Then came the opportunity. She bought a pure water sachet and drank half of it. As soon as she was about to throw it away, I reached out to her and I told her to please give me the remaining water. I gave her an excuse that I had 1 thousand naira note so I couldn't buy pure water. She gave it to me and was expecting me to clean the mouth befre drinking but I drank it without thinking. That was how we started talking. Foolish right? U no holy pass

What do you mean foolish? That was smooth as hell.

Culture / Do We Have A Tipping Culture In Nigeria? (In restaurants) by solowork: 9:45am On Nov 28, 2013
I know the US and Canada have a strong tipping culture, where you are expected to give a tip of approximately 15% of your total bill after tax. You may even tip up to 20% in cases where you had exceptional service. In UK, no one expects you to tip because the waiters are well paid. In Malaysia, patrons hardly tip but the waiters wish they would. I never had to eat out in Nigeria so I don't know what it's like back home. I want to know from working-class Nigerians, who spend most of their day at work and therefore have to eat at restaurants, if there's a tipping culture?

Health / Re: What Can I Do To Reduce The Sugar Content In My Blood? by solowork: 7:54pm On Nov 22, 2013
I see a lot of people here suggesting that you exercise and avoid sugar. But as a medikal docthor I'll tell you that those things will only increase your blood sugar level even more. You should do the following:

1. Get two boxes of St. Louis sugar and chew the shit out of those cubes. Make sure you finish it or it will not work. The idea is to combat the sugar already present in your blood stream with the new intake. They eventually obliterate each other and voila!...you're sugar free.

2. Sit on you ass all day and don't do shit. For best results, just stare at any fucking screen you can find (Tv, computer, phone....) all day.

Good health to you.

What type of respect are we talking about here? So they should prostrate or what? Twas a normal hand shake nofin more. Is there any sign of disrespect from any of them? Let's know ur stand on this, you are not happy they won, yes but that doesn't mean you have hate what they did. They acted normal where u get all these acussation is somehow weird, bad belle tongue

I'm happy they won. I just want others to be happy for us too, because I feel it'll be good for their careers if the world is rooting for them. And the world can't root for them if they are irritated by them.

They are f--king teenagers who just conquered the world. D'you expec them to stand straight and give a speech like Mandela? angry

Go to blatter's country and see how teenagers behave. I can assure you, Nigeria, and indeed black Africa has the most disciplined teenagers in the world.

Blatter's knows that, even sef referees are trained on how to officiate u-17 games. That's why they have fewer red/yellow cards. These are kids. They can't even vote in an election and here in America they can't even have alcohol. Just bc they have developed some tiny sparse hairs in their private part doesn't mean they have grown. Don't be decieved by their height and muscles, these are kids.

Watch premiership and see how adults celebrate, the imagine kids half their age winning World Cup.

Biko leave these kids jare angry this na the only thing wey you see for their body, na wa for naijans o

No be u-21 be this o, na U-17

Ok you win. I guess i need to relax a bit.

Bros, just don't add more salt plz. Two records were broken nah: highest goal scored by a team and record winner 4th time for crying out loud! Must always celebrate like d europeans? Chei! This mentality sef na ish

I don't know how the Europeans celebrate and I don't care for them, really. Why do we have to be Europeans to behave? I thought respect was an African thing. Of course, i'm the one with a warped mentality.

I expect them to celebrate but also respect others (especially older ones) the way we're taught by our Nigerian parents and teachers.

If @ there age u were able to get to where dey were today, u will probably do worse

YES! I probably would. But i'd hope that someone older will advice me to turn it down a notch so I don't carry the same attitude into adulthood and abroad where it is frowned upon. You see how sour Adebayor's relationship is with his former colleagues at Arsenal after that covert celebration of his Man city goal. That's not good for business.

Of course, the insults. I was winning, celebrating with and praising them, until Alampasu did what he did with the ball and also when the boys started shouting on the podium in front of the officials. You can shout and run around the field and be happy and somersault. But PLEASE behave when you're standing in front of Sepp Blatter.

flinsburg: Baad belle like u, hav u won any international silverware before at a young age? Ingratial nagging fool , will anything ever please u?

You can insult me all you want. All i'm saying is that the WORLD wants to root for Nigerians and they want to see us succeed. However our cocky attitude is somewhat of deterrent and we miss out on too many opportunities. No one is happier for them than I am and this is only one of the MANY good things that have come of of Nigeria recently. I just don't want us to ruin it all with our own hands, because of our attitude. If you watched the closing ceremony, you may have noticed how irritated the FIFA officials were with our boys because of their disrespectful behavior. Let's wait until we are a world power like the US before we start to create too many enemies for ourselves. They're already beating us with sticks in India.

Positives:

Talented
Cohesive
Strong

Negative:

Annoying (Alampasu's taunts, the excessive and unnecessary dancing and yelling as they received their medals)
Obnoxious (tacky celebrations, rubbing it in... very unsportsmanlike.)

But congratulations to them.

I was just watching some old clips of the Legend in action, and i can't help but think that he was painfully underrated.
His individual honours only include awards specific to Nigeria and Africa. His only international individual honour is being named one of FIFA's 100, which in my opinion, is a little understated for a player of his calibre. What do you think?

Politics / Re: US Senator Insults Nigeria In A bid To Mock Obama. by solowork: 1:10pm On Oct 23, 2013
Symphony007: HOUSTON (CBS Houston/AP)— Republican Sen. Ted Cruz compared the glitches plaguing the website for President Barack Obama’s signature health care law to the methodologies of “Nigerian email scammers.”

The Tea Party favorite received a rousing ovation during a rally of more than 1,000 supporters Monday in Houston while speaking out about the Affordable Care Act, known also as Obamacare.

“You may have noticed that all the Nigerian email scammers have become a lot less active lately,” Cruz said, according to the Houston Chronicle. “They all have been hired to run the Obamacare website.”
Cruz told supporters that he’s working for them and not for D.C. “party bosses.”

“People are saying mean things about me,” Cruz said, according to the Chronicle. “Who cares? At the end of the day, I don’t work for the party bosses in Washington. I work for each and every one of you. What they don’t understand is that we’re standing here together. We’ve got a problem in Washington. They’re not listening to the American people.”

Cruz staged a quasi-filibuster for over 21 hours in the Senate late last month, helping spark a budget fight in the Republican-led House that partially shuttered the government in an attempt to sever funding for the nation’s new health care law.

Then, with the country facing a debt default, leaders in the Democratic-led Senate brokered a deal to end the standoff — which Cruz dismissed as “selling the American people down the river.”

“You don’t win a fight when your own team is firing cannons at the people who are standing up and leading, which are the House Republicans,” he said.

The deal sets up the potential for another budget showdown in January. Senate GOP leaders, however, have suggested that there won’t be a repeat of the shutdown or a potential default crisis like in recent weeks.
Some political observers now see Cruz as Texas’ most popular Republican. But his approval ratings across the country may be slipping.

National polls have shown that while Americans in general don’t love the health care law, they oppose defunding it — especially if it means shutting down the government. And many of Cruz’s Senate colleagues have bemoaned the shutdown for tarnishing the GOP’s image
