Politics / GEJ Involved In Mere Election, Not War, We Can’t Compare Him With Ojukwu – FFK by Solutioncrib: 12:17pm On Apr 10, 2015

The former aviation minister Femi Fani-Kayode has reacted to the words of Theophilus Danjuma, the ex-minister of defence and
chairman of Victim Support Fund, that Colonel Emeka Odumegwu
Ojukwu should have quickly accepted defeat in the war, like
President Goodluck Jonathan.

Ojukwu came into national importance upon his appointment as military governor in 1966 and his -s thereafter.
A military coup against the civilian Nigerian federal government in
January 1966 and a counter coup in July 1966 by different military
f-s, perceived to be ethnic coups, resulted in pogroms in Northern Nigeria in which Igbos were predominantly killed.

Ojukwu, who was not an active participant in either coup was appointed the military governor of Nigeria's Eastern region in January 1966 by General Aguyi Ironsi.

Fani-Kayode took to his Facebook account to react to the words of
Danjuma.

He said: "Those that say that Colonel Emeka Odumegwu Ojukwu should have quickly accepted defeat in the war, like President Goodluck Jonathan did immediately after the election, have got it all wrong.

"I say this because the former was involved in a full scale military
conflict whilst the latter was involved in a mere election.
"It is easy to concede defeat in an election but you cannot sit back and gladly do the same in a war in which your people are facing mass
murder and genocide. In those terrible circumstances you do not give up and concede but instead you stand and you fight to the last man.

"Whether anyone likes it or not Ojukwu did the right thing. He fought for his people and, if I had been in his place, I would have done the same thing.
I would rather be a dead man than a slave. I would rather die
fighting than bow to the enemies of my soul."

Politics / Police Arrest Two For Illegal Possession Of Election Materials In Oyo State by Solutioncrib: 6:50am On Mar 28, 2015
Two persons have been arrested by Oyo state command of the Nigeria Police for illegal possession of documents belonging to Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.

The suspects, Mr. Banji Taiwo and Joseph Ojedeji were arrested at
Olorunsogo in Ona-Ara Local Government area of the state.

Parading the suspects, the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Muhammed Katsina said they were caught with valid voter registration lists belonging
to unit eleven of Ward 9 in Ona-Ara Local Government.

The Commissioner explained that the arrest was made possible through a tip off from a member of the public.
He therefore warned politicians to abide by the electoral law, saying the police would not tolerate any act of disrupting peaceful conduct of the election.

One of the suspects, Mr. Banji Taiwo said the voter registration lists were given to him by one of his party members to check the name of their supporters while the second one said he was at his friend's house on a visit when he was arrested.

Police has ordered that the registration lists be taken to the office of Independent Electoral Commission for interpretation.

Politics / Kaduna Denies Buhari Access To Rally Venue - APC by Solutioncrib: 12:21am On Mar 11, 2015

The All Progressives Congress in Kaduna State on Tuesday said the Kaduna State government denied the party’s presidential candidate, Maj. Gen Muhammmadu Buhari (retd.), access to the Murtala Mohammed Square, Kaduna, for his North-West zonal rally ahead of the rescheduled March 28 and April 11 general elections.

Our correspondent learnt that preparation for the rally, which is expected hold today (Wednesday), had reached an advanced stage when the zonal office of the party was informed that the state had refused the party the permit to use the facility.

“The PDP is jittery already. They are simply afraid of the popularity strength of the APC in the state and indeed the northern part of the state,” a party official, who asked not to be named, said.

The spokesman for Governor Mukhtar Yero, Malam Ahmed Mayaki neither picked calls to his mobile nor respond to a text message sent to his phone on the development.

Meanwhile, the APC in the state has accused the Yero-led administration of preparing the ground for crisis ahead of the elections in the state.

Spokesman of the APC Campaign Council in the state, Mr. Samuel Aruwan, at a media briefing said those championing hatred and disaffection in the state were those in government.

He noted that the government was not interested in ensuring peace and that it had been paying lip service to the issue of peace in the state.

Aruwan said the Kaduna State government had engaged in promoting violence in the state.

He said, “As a movement of the people, the APC is resolutely committed to free, fair and credible elections, held in an atmosphere of peace.

“The PDP government of Kaduna State is actively stoking religious and ethnic tension. Along with its affiliates and supporters, the PDP has been trying to whip up religious resentments against General Muhammadu Buhari and Mallam Nasir el-Rufai (the APC governorship candidate)”.

Politics / Re: Buhari, Incorruptible, Honest – Gov. Sule Lamido by Solutioncrib: 10:16pm On Jan 12, 2015
beopened:
Buhari, incorruptible, honest – Gov. Lamido

Governor Sule Lamido of Jigawa State on Monday described the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Muhammadu Buhari, as an incorruptible and honest leader.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Mr. Lamido stated this while addressing supporters of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) at a rally in Maigatari.

He explained that he had no problem with the former head of state, but had with some of the candidate’s supporters, especially those that left the PDP to the APC.

I agreed like every other person that Buhari is an incorruptible, honest, clean and patriotic Nigerian.
“My concern has always been defectors who our party, PDP, had made ministers, governors, speakers and members of the National Assembly and left us after benefiting so much,” he said.

Mr. Lamido urged the electorate in the area to vote for PDP candidates in the coming elections.
According to him, the party’s governorship candidate, Aminu Ibrahim, and his running mate, Dr Nurudeen Mohammed, will continue from wherever I will stopped and will not betray the trust, if elected.

Politics / Presidency: Northern Leaders Express Concerns Over Buhari’s Health. by Solutioncrib: 8:54am On Jan 11, 2015

INDICATIONS have emerged that prominent Northern leaders and elders who had initially declared support for the candidacy of General Muhammadu Buhari in the February elections have started reconsidering their position, following alarms that the general might be suffering a serious health challenge.

Online channels had last week indicated that Buhari collapsed during the presidential campaign rally of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Calabar, Cross River State.

Though the party had denied the report, it was learnt that the development had immediately prompted meetings among top hierarchy of the Northern political establishment to review the Buhari situation.

Sources in the polity had told Our Source that the North is becoming wary of a possible repeat of the situation it found itself following the death of President Umaru Yar'Adua in office in May 2010, some three years into his tenure, following a debilitating sickness.

The illness had surfaced during the 2007 presidential campaign, leading to rumours of Yar'Adua's death, but he bounced back on the campaign train and won the election.

"The North is beginning to rethink the promised support for Buhari in view of reports that he is suffering from a certain ailment which is believed to be wearing him down. There are also reports that the elders are pushing to cut a deal with Jonathan to complete his tenure in 2019 but extract a promise that power would be returned to the North via a younger and energetic Northerner," a source said.

But APC spokesman in the South-East, Comrade Osita Okechukwu, had dismissed claims about Buhari's health, saying that the alarm was designed to create doubts about the APC presidential candidate.

He said: "They are only trying to dig up what is non-existent; no record of their claim. The General has his doctor and anyone can contact him, rather than speculate."

A Northern politician said at the weekend that the North was still suffering from the effect of Alhaji Yar'Adua's death in office, adding that it would be unfair to the North to risk the situation once again.

"There were reports that Yar'Adua was ill before he was picked by former President Olusegun Obasanjo for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ticket. We saw the crisis coming but we believed that only God determines how long a human being will live.

It would be bad for the North to have power return to the South-West barely ten years after Obasanjo spent eight unbroken years in Aso Rock," the source said, adding that the option before the North was to cut a deal on 2019 when they could settle down to raise a strong candidate.

According him, the possibility of a truncated Northern presidency, in case Buhari mounts the saddle, will be too much for the North to bear again. He added that Yar'Adua's death, in 2010, resulted in power returning prematurely to the South, which is in line with the constitutional provisions.

"If anything happens to Buhari, power will return to the South-West less than a decade after President Obasanjo left Aso Rock. The prospects are grim, both for the North and even the South-East that is queuing for their own turn," another Northern top brass said at the weekend.

Besides, it was gathered that President Goodluck Jonathan had, during his recent visit to the Minna Hilltop home of former military leader; General Ibrahim Babangida, discussed details of Buhari's health with the former military leader, a development that was said to have prompted the Minna General to turn his support to Jonathan.

It was also gathered that prominent Northern leaders have already got wind of the discussions between IBB and Jonathan, leading to red hot discussions on the way forward in 2015.

Politics / Obasanjo Makes Surprise Appearance At Jonathan’s Daughter’s Wedding. by Solutioncrib: 4:11pm On Jan 10, 2015
Former President Olusegun Obasanjo on Saturday made a surprise appearance at the church wedding of President Goodluck Jonathan's foster daughter, Inebharapu.

Inebharapu was joined in holy matrimony to Simeon at a well-attended service held at the National Christian Centre, Abuja.
Obasanjo and Jonathan have not been
seen together in public events lately,
especially since the public presentation of his book, 'My Watch.'

The former President had on Monday said Nigeria was facing economic problems due to the failure of the present administration to plan for a rainy day.
He told eminent women leaders from the South-West, who visited him at his Hilltop residence in Abeokuta, Ogun State, that the nation's reserves which as of 2007 stood at $67bn had been depleted by the
Federal Government.

Obasanjo arrived the venue in company with Dr. Andy Uba and some other aides before the commencement of the service.
His arrival attracted a loud ovation from those who were already seated, especially women.

He was ushered into the hall amidst
standing ovation by his admirers and took his seat at the VIP section.
He was later joined at the section by the President of the Senate, David Mark and his wife.

About 20 minutes after, Jonathan entered the hall with his wife, Patience, and the bride.
The President and his wife took turn to exchange pleasantries with Obasanjo, Mark and other dignitaries before taking their seats.

Obasanjo's introduction during the
service also attracted a loud applause
from the congregation.
In his vote of thanks at the service
Jonathan specially recognised
Obasanjo's presence, saying, "Let me
appreciate our father, President Olusegun Obasanjo, for being here with us. Thank you for coming."

The President urged the couple to
embrace the virtue of endurance, saying they should learn to be resolving their disagreements in their bedroom.
He urged them not to bring their
problems to him because he has more
than enough issues to address.

Politics / Student, Father Arrested Over Attempt To Smuggle Bomb Into School In Taraba. by Solutioncrib: 2:54am On Jan 07, 2015
THERE was pandemonium at the Federal Government Girls College (FGGC), Jalingo,Taraba State, as a female student, identified as Blessing, alongside her father, were caught with a cache of explosives they wanted to smuggle intothe school.

The attempt was foiled as the school
internal security operatives were
conducting the conventional stop and
search of luggage of all returning
students.

The explosives were uncovered securedly concealed in her bag of garri.

The school management swiftly alerted the police authorities, who swung into action immediately and arrested the suspect and her father.

Confirming the incident, the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), John Kwaji, noted that the suspects were already in police custody.

Our Source gathered that the
suspect and her father had come from
Numan in Adamawa State.
According Kwaji, policemen from the EOD unit were immediately dispatched to the area upon receipt of the information and two military hand grenades were recovered.

He commended the school management for its proactive security measures that led to the discovery of the grenades, while
charging the public to be at alert.

When Our Source visited the
school, normalcy seemed to have
returned, but fear and uneasy calm was evident on the faces of students and the teachers.

This incident is the first of its kind in
Taraba State and it had raised security
concerns about the possible invasion of the state by the Boko Haram sect.

2014 has come to an end. SOLUTIONCRIB Music presents to our teeming followers our top 10 Nigerian songs for the year.

1. Aye - Davido: Davido is undoubtedly the best Nigerian artiste for the year. He ended 2013 with smash hit Skelewu and started 2014 with Aye, a lovely slow tempo tune. The video for this song has hit over 12 million views since its release.

That is the highest for any Nigerian music video released this year.

2. Dorobucci - The Mavins (Don Jazzy,Dr.Sid, Tiwa Savage, D'Prince, Reekado
Banks, Korede Bello and Di'ja): This song was a mega hit. It propelled the Mavins to become arguably the hottest label in the country.
Only Davido's Aye could have
pipped it to take the first spot.

3. Shoki - Lil' Kesh: Olamide's protege
takes the next spot. His shoki was the
biggest street anthem for the year 2014 and the dance step only made the song even more popular.
A regular in every club or DJ mix, the Shoki helped Lil' Kesh to win awards and an appearance on Tim Westwood TV.

4. Alobam - Phyno: Igbo rapper Phyno
takes the fourth spot. The song Alobam was one that even people who weren't Igbo and didn't understand the language loved.
This is the best rap single for 2014 and received massive airplay
nationwide

5. Shake Body - Skales: After parting ways with former label, Skales' career seemed to be over, until he dropped his biggest song till date, Shake Body. The song earned him so many features and show appearances. Since the release, Skales has been a household name in the industry
and a force to reckon with.

6. Sanko – Timaya: Off Timaya's
Epiphany album, is this track that takes our sixth spot. This song set dance floors ablaze and goes a long way to show that Timaya follows trend and delivers what the fans want.

7. Double Wahala - Oritse Femi: This song which is almost like a remake of Fela's Double Wahala, actually brought Oritse Femi to the forefront of the industry.
The song was so good that the Kokomaster D'banj had to be on the remix.

8. Woju - Kiss Daniel: This song is one
song that could have easily occupied the top spot, if it was done by an A-list artiste.
A mid tempo high-life track that appealed to every audience, with witty lyrics and a sing along feel, Woju goes down as one of the best songs for the year.

9. Girlie Oh Remix - Patoranking featuring Tiwa Savage: Patoranking's rise to stardom is hugely due to this duet with Mavin Record's first lady Tiwa Savage.
The song and the original version were blockbuster hits for the year.

10.Story For The gods - Olamide: This song sparked controversies for a number of reasons including the title. But it still has a spot on our countdown.
A real street banger, loved in the streets and in the club. A song that will definitely make you dance.

There are so many other songs that
should have made the list, but we just had to choose 10.
Let us know how you feel about our top 10 and you can share yours if you disagree with us.

Music/Radio / SOLUTIONCRIB Top 5 Nigerian Producers For 2014. by Solutioncrib: 11:40pm On Dec 31, 2014

SOLUTIONCRIB Top 5 Producers for 2014

The year has come to an end. As we
celebrate the artistes that made it, let's not forget that those hits were made possible by the hard work of producers.

Here's our top 5 producers for the year:

1. Don Jazzy: The Mavin records boss is undoubtedly the best producer for this year, with hits like Dorobucci, Adaobi, Chop Am and a host of others. Without his production expertise, the likes of Korede
Bello, Reekado Banks and Di'ja would
probably have had a tough time breaking onto the scene.

2. Legendury Beatz: The second spot goes to this magical duo of Uzezi Oniko and Okiemute Oniko. Legendury Beatz's production prowess is the reason why almost every artiste they worked with during the year had a hit song.
From the likes of Wizkid, to Reminisce and a host of others.

3. T-Spize: For producing Davido's Aye,
which was our number 1 song for the year and Runtown's Gallardo alone, T-spize earned himself a spot on our countdown.
He is also credited with production works for Stormrex's Blessings featuring Phyno and also Mc Galaxy's Sekem, which narrowly missed our top 10 songs for the year.

4. Wizzy Pro: Wizzy Pro gets the fourth spot after producing hits like Emergency, which is another track that also narrowly missed a spot on our countdown for the year and
Patoranking's Girlie Oh.
This guy who was relatively unknown last year, has created a space for himself in the industry.

5. Shizzi: Davido's producer takes the
fifth spot. He could easily have taken the first spot, but for the fact that those other producers also did beautifully well this year.

He has had a successful year after
producing hits like Wizkid's Show you
the money, Reminisce's Daddy Mi
featuring Davido, Emmy Gee's Rands and Nairas Remix, just to mention a few.

This is our own top 5. We don't expect
everybody to agree with us.
Feel free to share you own top 5 with us.

We wish our numerous readers a Happy New Year in advance!

Sports / Carlo Ancelotti Wins Best Coach Of The Year Award At The Globe Soccer Awards. by Solutioncrib: 9:43pm On Dec 29, 2014

Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti has been named as the best coach of 2014 at the Globe Soccer Awards, held in Dubai.

In his first year at the Santiago Bernabeu the Italian guided the Spanish side to an elusive 10th European Cup with a 4-1 final defeat of city rivals Atletico in Lisbon.

It marked the continuation of the Italian's glittering coaching career, which has also seen him win domestic league titles in Italy (AC Milan), England (Chelsea) and France (Paris Saint-Germain).

Ancelotti saw off competition for the award from Joachim Low, who led Germany to World Cup glory in the summer, Pep Guardiola, whose Bayern Munich side claimed a Bundesliga and DFB-Pokal double in his first year in Germany and Antonio Conte, for guiding Juventus to a third successive Scudetto before taking charge of Italy during the summer.

Ancelotti was in attendance at The Palm Hotel, and said of the award: "Life is easy because we have many great players and wonderful staff which makes it a lot easier to coach Real Madrid than other clubs."

Cristiano Ronaldo has ended 2014 in style by collecting the Best Player of the Year accolade at the Globe Soccer Awards in Dubai.

Ronaldo has enjoyed arguably the greatest year of his career, breaking the record for the number of goals in a single Champions League season as he led Real Madrid to their 10th title, while maintaining his better than a goal-per-game ratio across five prolific years in Spain.

Ronaldo is hotly tipped to follow up this success by claiming the FIFA Ballon d'Or for the second year in a row, and third time overall. He faces competition from Lionel Messi and Manuel Neuer for the prize, which is announced on January 12.

The Portuguese, who was in attendance to collect the award at the Atlantis Palm Hotel, is hoping success in Dubai will be replicated in Zurich.

He said: "I hope that it can be a good
signal but I'm not worried about that.

The people who vote know what they
have to do. I just feel happy it's one
more trophy for my dedication and hard work.

"I want to say thank you to the people at Real Madrid, - the players, the coach - we had a fantastic season, we won four trophies and we are one of the best teams in the world.

Politics / Obanikoro Concedes Defeat, To Return As Minister Of State For Defence by Solutioncrib: 9:57am On Dec 23, 2014

•To withdraw case from court

Former Minister of State for Defence and gubernatorial aspirant on the platform of Lagos State Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Senator Musiliu Obanikoro, has accepted the result of the December 8 Lagos PDP gubernatorial primary which returned Jimi Agbaje as winner.

Consequently, Obanikoro is to withdraw the case he instituted in court challenging the outcome of the gubernatorial primaries.

He will also any moment from now return to his post as Minister of State for Defence, an office he relinquished to contest the gubernatorial election in Lagos State.
His return may be announced anytime
from today.

These were the fallout of a meeting
Obanikoro held with President Goodluck Jonathan on Sunday at the Presidential Villa, where he was prevailed upon to let sleeping dogs lie in the interest of the PDP in Lagos State.

Our Source gathered that Obanikoro's return to office as Minister of State for Defence does not require any
screening by the National assembly, since according to impeccable source, he was deemed to have gone on leave.

Also in attendance at the meeting was the Lagos PDP gubernatorial candidate,Agbaje, whose victory has been a bone of contention, pitching Obanikoro against former Deputy National Chairman, South, of the PDP, Chief Olabode George and former Minister of Works, Adeseye Ogunlewe, leading to throwing of brickbats from the two camps.

As at the time of filing this report,
Obanikoro was in another round of
meeting with the Vice President, Arch
Namadi Sambo at the Presidential Villa, to fine tune the process of his return to the office he vacated shortly before the October 20 deadline for members of the Federal Executive Council, FEC, aspiring for
elective offices to vacate their seats.

Our Source investigations revealed
that the truce brokered in the Lagos PDP gubernatorial imbroglio was an indication of PDP's attempt to give the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, in Lagos a run for its money.

It was also learnt that the bulk of the over N21 billion raised at the weekend in aid of President Jonathan's campaign would be expended on prosecuting the 2015
general elections in South-West, with
special emphasis on Lagos State, which had remained elusive to the PDP since the advent of the present democratic dispensation in 1999.

It would be recalled that Obanikoro had rejected the outcome of the Lagos PDP primaries which returned Agbaje as winner, alleging discrepancies in the number of accredited voters and the total votes cast.
