We newly moved to an area in the late '90s, there was no lights for many months cause the transformer was always having issues. There was one particular year like that when NEPA took away the transformer for a year it was that same day they brought it back the transformer blew and that was how we started another journey of staying without light again. Laslas they changed the location of the transformer after some years.

TOPIC:THE PROPELERS OF FAITH

BIBLE READING:
2 Peter 1:3-7

3 According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:

4 Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.

5 And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge;

6 And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness;

7 And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity.

MEDITATION:
Faith operates in absolute knowledge. Faith is not vain or vague. Faith works with knowledge. How can you believe what you have not heard? (Rom. 10:14). When purpose is not known, abuse is inevitable. Ignorance is a disease (Hosea 4:6). Faith deals with what you know, because faith comes by hearing (Rom, 10:17). It is what you hear that you
know. It is what you know that you act on (Romans 10:8-14). In like manner, if you don't know your privileges, you cannot claim them (Matthew 7:7).

Faith works with patience. Worry, fear, anxiety and doubt will kill your faith (James 1:2-4). Without patience, faith cannot work. The scripture says, “Knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience.” Faith builds character through patience. Faith grows and develops with patience. Impatience kills the seed of faith.

Faith works with love. The law of love is the principal ingredient in the operation of faith. It is the greatest commandment given by the Master Himself (John 13:34-35). The New Testament Law is the “Law of Love.” Gal. 5:6 says, “For in Jesus Christ, neither circumcision availeth anything nor uncircumcision; but faith which works by love.” I Corinthians 13 states the characteristics of love. God is love personified. To please Him, you must manifest love, which is the nature of God. Then, will your faith become meaningful and potent.

PRAYER:
Ask God to fill you with His knowledge, and to baptise you with the spirit of patience, endurance and love.

TOPIC:A MUSTARD SEED

BIBLE READING:
Matthew 13:31-32

MEDITATION:
The parables of our Lord Jesus Christ holds many instructions for us in the service of our Lord. In it we see that though tares may be all over the place, yet good seeds thrive and bear fruits. The fact that weeds abound should not stop us from sowing the good seeds.

In today's bible reading, the parable of the grain of mustard seed which a man sowed in his field at that time was the least, the smallest of all seeds but grew to become “the greatest of shrubs and became a tree, so that the birds of the air came and made nests in its branches” – vs, 32. Our Lord did not give any specific interpretation of this parable. Maybe because it is seen to be very plain and can be easily understood and interpreted.

Like the mustard seed, your life is very small and God could decide to take it from you at any time but you must live a life of influence. You must grow to become the greatest shrub and a tree on which others can make their nests, find shadow under them, and get their succour. Your life is a plus to the world. You are an advantage to the society. Always see yourself in this light and live daily by it. You are not a weed; you are a seed. Share whatever you have with others. Even if you sow in tears, you will reap in joy - Psalm 126:5-6.

PRAYER:
Father Lord, just as a mustard seed, help me to grow and become what you have ordained for me to be.

TOPIC:EXPLOITS THROUGH PRAISE

BIBLE READING:
Psalms 100:1-5

MEDITATION:
The force of praise is a great force. What praise can achieve is beyond the imagination of mortal man. On several occasions and instances, praise has proved to be a potent weapon of victory.

When the Israelites were confronted by enemies from different fronts it was praise that delivered victory to them without having to take up physical arms (2 Chronicles 20:20-23). When Israel was to take the city of Jericho (a city filled with mighty men of valour), it was marching round the city and shout (of praise to Jehovah) that crumbled the well-fortified wall of the city (Joshua 6;20-21).

Paul and Silas, after a successful missionary enterprise were arrested and imprisoned. But when they prayed and sang praises to God, there was an earthquake that shook the foundation of the prison, and the tightly-locked prison doors opened of their own accord, setting free its captives (Acts 16:25, 26). What a great exploit praise can achieve!

As you observe each day as 'Praise Gate,' you must put on the garment of praise (Isaiah 61:3) and praise God as you have never done before. No matter the challenge of your life, your offering of praise and worship will melt them on the altar of God's presence and power. God inhabits the praise of His people (Psalms 22:3). Give Him quality praise and thereby enter into your realm of exploits.

PRAYER:
Dear Lord, teach me to praise you in all, and every situation I find myself in Jesus Name.

TOPIC:LIVING IN THE REALM OF EXPLOITS

BIBLE READING:
1 Peter 2:9-10

MEDITATION:
It is crystal clear that God has destined us for exploits and for us to live below that expectation will be unfortunate. The world is waiting for our manifestation! The Holy Spirit is the power for exploits. When He came upon such men as Moses, David, Samson, Elijah, Elisha, Peter, Paul etc, they became powerful instruments of exploits.

The anointing even to surpass the exploits of these faith-heroes is available for you. “For the kingdom is of the Lord's; and He is the governor among the nations”. (Psalm 22:28). God wants to display kingdom authority through you. He wants to showcase His awesome influence in the affairs of men through you because you are his ambassador. You must collaborate with the God of exploits as He works through human entities.

You must live every day in the consciousness that you are created for exploits. In your personal life, family, community, workplace and ministry your exploits must be evident for all to see.

You are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood… a peculiar personality to attain unto great exploits. Cultivate a lifestyle of working with the Holy Spirit on a daily basis and you will see yourself walking in the realm of exploits with resounding testimonies.

You have been called to show forth the praises and power of Him who has called you from darkness into his marvelous light.

PRAYER:
Father Lord, please use me to do exploits for your glory in Jesus Name.

TOPIC:SALVATION IN NO OTHER NAME

BIBLE READING:
Acts 4:10-12; John 14:6

10 Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him doth this man stand here before you whole.

11 This is the stone which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the head of the corner.

12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

John 14:6
6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

MEDITATION:
Salvation is the all-inclusive word of the Gospel that encompasses all the redemptive acts and processes, including grace, justification, redemption, propitiation, imputation, remission, sanctification, and glorification. Salvation is a change of heart and mind; change of status and nature (2 Corinthians 5:17). It means deliverance, safety, preservation, healing and soundness. It also means being delivered from the power of darkness and translated into the Kingdom of God (Colossians 1:13). It is a whole package – deliverance from sin, oppression, poverty, sickness and death.

This is made possible only through a person – Jesus. He fully paid the price for salvation of the whole man - spirit, soul and body (Acts 2:21; 4:12; 16:31).

The salvation of the spirit is instantaneous (at new birth) – John 3:3-5. It happens as one confesses sins, repents of them, believes and receives Jesus as Lord and Saviour. (John 1:12; Rom 10:8-11). The salvation of the soul is progressive, and becomes evident as one renews the mind by hearing, reading, studying, meditating on, and obeying the word of God (Rom 12:2). Salvation of the body is in the future, and at the second coming of Jesus Christ when our bodies change from mortality to immortality, corruptible to incorruptible; we are glorified with the Son, Jesus (1Cor. 15: 42, 50, 52, Rom. 8:23, Phil. 3:21).

PRAYER:
Lord Jesus, thank you for saving me; sanctify me, spirit, soul and body as I await your second coming.

TOPIC:OBEDIENCE COMPELS ALL-ROUND DOMINION

BIBLE READING:
Philippians 2:5-11

5 Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:

6 Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:

7 But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:

8 And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.

9 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:

10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;

11 And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

MEDITATION:
When God called the children of Israel out of bondage in Egypt, he gave them a leader, Moses; he gave them the Law, the Decalogue and other sundry laws and he gave them a land to possess, Canaan.

The essence was for the people to demonstrate the supremacy of God among them over other nations on earth to exercise dominion (Exodus 19:5, 6). In Deuteronomy chapter 28 verse 1-13 is contained various pronouncements about all-round dominion for God's people.

In this and other passages of the scripture which promise all-round dominion, obedience to God and His word is the key to entering its fulfillment. Have you asked yourself why in spite of prayer, fasting and other spiritual acts you carry out, you are yet to live in dominion as God promised His children? The problem is not with God. Abraham obeyed God and became a source of blessing to all mankind (Gen. 22:1-18). Joseph obeyed God rather than involve in sexual sin (Gen. 39; 41:39-44) and later became ruler over Egypt. Daniel walked in obedience to God's statues and was in dominion over the king of Babylon (Daniel 6).

Jesus Christ through obedience obtained the most excellent name (Philippians 2:5-11). Can you pass God's obedience test? Obedience to God in all things and at all times will launch you into the realm of all-round dominion. Are there areas in your life you need to listen to, and obey God more for your own good?

PRAYER:
Lord, teach me obedience in all things so I can enjoy full dominion all around me.

TOPIC:SUSTAINING ALL-ROUND DOMINION

BIBLE READING:
Ephesians 1:3-6

3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ:

4 According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love:

5 Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will,

6 To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved.

MEDITATION:
When God blesses, it lasts for as long as we are in Him. He never intended to stop the flow of His goodness upon us for a moment. The Bible says the steadfast love of God never ceases. However, we could cause His blessings to cease when we live contrary to His will.

The all-round victory the children of Israel achieved over Jericho could not be sustained as they succumbed miserably to a smaller territory, Ai because of sin in their camp (Joshua 7). Similarly, the all-round success God granted Solomon (I Kings 10:23) was lost on the altar of indulgence and insensitivity to God (I Kings 11:8-11). Sustaining your dominion, victory, success, and breakthroughs requires you to co-operate with God. Uzziah, king of Israel prospered on the throne of his father, Amaziah for as long as he sought the Lord (2 Chronicles 26:1-5).

Just like you update and improve your skills to sustain your job, you renew your commitment and sacrifice to your spouse to enjoy your marriage, so it is in spiritual matters. You must maintain consistent and unbroken relationship with God. This can be done through regular personal devotion (quiet time), family altar for those with family, commitment to service in the house of God e.g. evangelism, missions, giving etc, addiction to the word of God.

Why not determine today to sustain your all-round dominion experience with renewed commitment to what pleases God?

PRAYER:
Lord, in your mercy help me to wake up, clean up, dress up and move up in my life.

TOPIC:A NEW DAWN

BIBLE READING:
Romans 13:11-12

11 And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed.

12 The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light.

MEDITATION:
Every living creature responds in one way or the other to the dawn of a new day. The cock crows, the bird sings, the flowers rejoice, the trees clap their hands with their leaves; the sun rises from the east in her majestic brightness to shine upon the earth.

With each day that breaks, there are new things happening around us. TheScriptures say “And knowing the time that now it is high time to awake …”- Rom. 13:11-12. It calls for conscious and deliberate efforts and actions onour part. The new dawn is a time for us to:

Wake up - from any manner of spiritual slumber (prayer, the word andobedience).

Rise up - to stretch out and empower our legs and hands for more spiritualservice

Dress up - with the garment of righteousness and Christ-like character

Clean up - from any character or material of the night (any entanglement of

Move up - unto a higher ground in our living, our services and status in

Yes, it is a new day! Arise and shine!

PRAYER:

TOPIC:LOYALTY AND CHRISTIAN SERVICE

BIBLE READING:
2 Timothy 2:1-7

1 Thou therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.

2 And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.

3 Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ.

4 No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier.

5 And if a man also strive for masteries, yet is he not crowned, except he strive lawfully.

6 The husbandman that laboureth must be first partaker of the fruits.

7 Consider what I say; and the Lord give thee understanding in all things.

MEDITATION:
Loyalty is faithfulness, firm allegiance, devotion and constant (consistent) trustworthiness. Loyalty is the hallmark of Christian stewardship (I Corinthians 4:2).

From ages, God has always commanded and commended loyalty. In the call of Abraham (Genesis 12:1-3); Moses' giving of the Ten Commandments to Israel (Exodus 20:1-20); Elisha's ministry under the tutelage of Elijah (2 Kings 2); Ruth's insistence to follow Naomi her mother-in-law (Ruth 1:1-19); Daniel's resolve not to defile himself with the portion of the kings' meat (Daniel 1:cool; the three Hebrew children' determination to face king Nebuchadnezzar's wrath instead of bowing to his idol (Daniel 3:1-18); Queen Esther's daring to approach the King Ahasuerus at a critical time in the life of the Jews (Esther 4:1-16), and Jesus offering of Himself to die for mankind (John 6:38, 39; Luke 24:43-50) we see clear demonstration of loyalty.

Loyalty demands sacrifice, commitment, very high risk and in extreme cases, even death. The examples listed above satisfy all the conditions for Christian loyalty.

How loyal are you to God, your family, the church of God, your ministry, country and the call to soul winning and discipleship? Evaluate your response and determine to improve on your loyalty rating in these areas.`

PRAYER:
Father, help me to remain loyal to your course to the end in Jesus name.

TOPIC:BE NOT AFRAID

BIBLE READING:
Matthew 14:22-29

22 And straightway Jesus constrained his disciples to get into a ship, and to go before him unto the other side, while he sent the multitudes away.

23 And when he had sent the multitudes away, he went up into a mountain apart to pray: and when the evening was come, he was there alone.

24 But the ship was now in the midst of the sea, tossed with waves: for the wind was contrary.

25 And in the fourth watch of the night Jesus went unto them, walking on the sea.

26 And when the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, It is a spirit; and they cried out for fear.

27 But straightway Jesus spake unto them, saying, Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid.

28 And Peter answered him and said, Lord, if it be thou, bid me come unto thee on the water.

29 And he said, Come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus.

MEDITATION:
Fear is one of the great destroyers of the life of men and that is why theBible warns against allowing it to have a grip on us. Whoever is afraidis a prisoner.

There are genuine and imaginary fears but none of them should be allowed to have a root in our lives. Jesus had constrained the disciples to get into a ship and to go before him to the other side. But as the disciples got into the midst of the sea, the wind became contrary threatening to sink its occupants. One lesson to learn here is that you may still have challenges when you are in the will of God. In the midst of their challenges, fearing that they will perish, Jesus walked to the disciples.

As a child of God, Jesus is always in your boat, if only you can recognise Him. When Peter exercised faith towards Jesus, he walked on the sea to go to Jesus. What a feat! Cry out to God today to deal with every form of fear in your life. Whenever you find yourself in danger, remember the assuring words of Jesus – “Be of good cheer, it is I, be not afraid''. Fear has torment.

How may you overcome fear in your life?

PRAYER:
Dear Lord, please deliver me from fear and the torment it brings.

TOPIC:ENJOYING DIVINE PERFECTION

BIBLE READING:
Psalms 138:1-8

1 I will praise thee with my whole heart: before the gods will I sing praise unto thee.

2 I will worship toward thy holy temple, and praise thy name for thy lovingkindness and for thy truth: for thou hast magnified thy word above all thy name.

3 In the day when I cried thou answeredst me, and strengthenedst me with strength in my soul.

4 All the kings of the earth shall praise thee, O LORD, when they hear the words of thy mouth.

5 Yea, they shall sing in the ways of the LORD: for great is the glory of the LORD.

6 Though the LORD be high, yet hath he respect unto the lowly: but the proud he knoweth afar off.

7 Though I walk in the midst of trouble, thou wilt revive me: thou shalt stretch forth thine hand against the wrath of mine enemies, and thy right hand shall save me.

8 The LORD will perfect that which concerneth me: thy mercy, O LORD, endureth for ever: forsake not the works of thine own hands.

MEDITATION:
In the biblical sense, perfection is a state of ideal wholeness or completion in which any disability, shortcoming or defect that may have existed gets eliminated or done away with. After creation in Genesis chapter one, God Himself declared all He has created was perfect (Genesis 1:31). Sadly, man was later to pollute it with sin (Genesis 3). God then moved to bring about restoration of the divine and perfect order by the sending of His only begotten Son (Jesus Christ) to die for the sin of mankind (John 3:16).

This confirms that God is interested in ordering our lives according to His perfect plan. God desires to see us grow in His image, on daily basis, becoming like Him until we see Him in glory (Ephesians 3:16-19).

God has also made available to us His gifts (James 1:17; Ephesians 4:11-15) so that He can achieve perfection in us (Colossians 1:28). There is, therefore, no excuse for anyone to live below the standard of God's expectation for man. We should endeavour to covet the gifts of God that get us closer to him daily.

What do you desire from God? In what areas of your life do you want God's intervention? Seek to walk in His will and growing in daily Christian experience. Exercise the gifts He has deposited in you. As you do so, you get closer to divine perfection. Then trust God to meet you at every point of your need.

PRAYER:
Ask God for divine intervention in your life.

TOPIC:GROWING IN GOD'S PERFECT IMAGE

BIBLE READING:
1 John 3:2-3

2 Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.

3 And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure.

MEDITATION:
An elated and proud Obi while receiving his apprenticeship Testimonial and working tools from his Trainer and Mentor in
furniture design and making after 5 years of consistent and committed apprenticeship, remarked, “I feel so fulfilled today because I can design and make settees, dining tables and ward-robes of exact superb quality just like my Master, and am so happy he is proud of my accomplishment.” Those words are those of a disciple or trainee that started his career with very clear goals and desires to be like his Master. These words mirror the statement recorded by John the beloved in his first epistle, vv. 2-3, wrote, “……but we know that, when He shall appear, we shall be like Him………”

The goal and desire of every Christian is to be like Jesus and reign with God eternally. One way to prepare for this experience is to consistently seek to imbibe God's perfect nature. This requires discipline, determination and willingness to be led by the Spirit. Purity is the nature of God, and He wants us to be like Him. We work towards this goal by paying close attention to every written word in scripture (II Timothy 3:16, 17); practicing the words we read and hear (Psalm 19:7-11; James 1:25).

Obi must have paid close attention and heed to every detail of instruction he received from his Trainer. As people who desire to be like our Master, Jesus, and who hope for eternal life, we must daily reflect His perfect image, like the first Christians in Antioch did (Acts 11:26).

PRAYER:
Father, perfect your work in my life in Jesus name.

TOPIC:THIS IS THE DAY!

BIBLE READING:
Psalms 118:24-29

24 This is the day which the LORD hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.

25 Save now, I beseech thee, O LORD: O LORD, I beseech thee, send now prosperity.

26 Blessed be he that cometh in the name of the LORD: we have blessed you out of the house of the LORD.

27 God is the LORD, which hath shewed us light: bind the sacrifice with cords, even unto the horns of the altar.

28 Thou art my God, and I will praise thee: thou art my God, I will exalt thee.

29 O give thanks unto the LORD; for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever.

MEDITATION:
Birthdays are days many always look forward to. For the obvious reason that it seems the whole world stands still, and beams its light on us. We never want the day to end. If we could, we would want our birthdays to have more than twenty-four hours. It appears that is the only day we feel we are remembered, and loved. Sometimes, it is like our pains also take a break on our birthdays. It is that unique.

But upon waking up today, what thought rummage your mind? Did you awake with loads of anxiety and heavy heart to face the day? Is your heart cumbered with a load of care, so much so that you fear the dawning of the day? Today's scripture admonishes us to rejoice in the knowledge that each day is made by the Lord.

The Bible declared, “This is the day that lord has made”, so we can rejoice with confident assurance. We are confident in the fact that the day was neither made by man nor the devil. So, because the Lord is good and is timelessly loving, we can rejoice and be glad in this day that he has made. Since this is the day the Lord has made, we are sure he had given a careful thought to our lives while he made this day in His time. Beloved, this is the day the Lord has made, so rejoice and be glad! It may not be your birthday, but God, nonetheless, made it with you in mind. This, too, is your day!

PRAYER:
Lord, I rejoice in this day which you made with me in mind.

TOPIC:WORSHIP IS ULTIMATE

BIBLE READING:
Psalms 117:1-2

1 O praise the LORD, all ye nations: praise him, all ye people.

2 For his merciful kindness is great toward us: and the truth of the LORD endureth for ever. Praise ye the LORD.

MEDITATION:
John Piper, in his classic work on missions, Let the Nations Be Glad, wrote: “Missions is not the ultimate goal of the Church; Worship is. Worship is the ultimate, not missions because God is ultimate, not man”. This clearly captures the essence of Psalm 117 – that all people of the earth may worship him.

Atheism argues against the existence of God; and if he does, he is distant from the world he created. For what kind of God stands aloof and indifferent to his people – in war, disease, natural disasters etc. Contrary to these ideas, not once has God been distant from the world or the people He created. The reverse is true.

The Psalm begins with a call for the nations and people of the earth to praise the Lord. The call to praise the Lord is not borne out of compulsion or command void of relationship. The second verse of the Psalm tells us two unchanging nature of God: first, his steadfast love (Lamentations 3:22-23); His love for mankind is not founded upon any good thing humans have done. On the contrary, God's love is founded on His nature. Though our world reeks with wickedness, God has not for once withdrawn His love from us. Second, is God's enduring faithfulness at all times - He is faithful now, tomorrow and forever. Faithful, that's who God is.

Ultimately, the psalm admonishes that our worship of God should stem primarily, from who he is rather than what he gives us. How can you join other Christians to express your gratitude to God for his steadfast love and his faithfulness?

PRAYER:
Lord, let my life flow in ceaseless worship of you.

TOPIC:GOD IS ALIVE AND CARES ABOUT YOU

BIBLE READING:
Psalms 116:1-19

1 I love the LORD, because he hath heard my voice and my supplications.

2 Because he hath inclined his ear unto me, therefore will I call upon him as long as I live.

3 The sorrows of death compassed me, and the pains of hell gat hold upon me: I found trouble and sorrow.

4 Then called I upon the name of the LORD; O LORD, I beseech thee, deliver my soul.

5 Gracious is the LORD, and righteous; yea, our God is merciful.

6 The LORD preserveth the simple: I was brought low, and he helped me.

7 Return unto thy rest, O my soul; for the LORD hath dealt bountifully with thee.

8 For thou hast delivered my soul from death, mine eyes from tears, and my feet from falling.

9 I will walk before the LORD in the land of the living.

10 I believed, therefore have I spoken: I was greatly afflicted:

11 I said in my haste, All men are liars.

12 What shall I render unto the LORD for all his benefits toward me?

13 I will take the cup of salvation, and call upon the name of the LORD.

14 I will pay my vows unto the LORD now in the presence of all his people.

15 Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his saints.

16 O LORD, truly I am thy servant; I am thy servant, and the son of thine handmaid: thou hast loosed my bonds.

17 I will offer to thee the sacrifice of thanksgiving, and will call upon the name of the LORD.

18 I will pay my vows unto the LORD now in the presence of all his people.

19 In the courts of the LORD's house, in the midst of thee, O Jerusalem. Praise ye the LORD.

MEDITATION:
In a world of evident or factual idealism, it gets harder for faith to find a footing. From the scientific empirical analysis to historical evidence gatherings, mankind has found God as non-existent, and thus concluded, “God is just an idea of weak men.”

Contrary to all these false claims, the psalmist described God as a very personal and relational God – who loves and cares so much as to “bend down and listen” to our prayers. This confident assurance which the psalmist had of God made him say, “I will pray as long as I breathe!” – vs. 17. This experience guided this attitude through this psalm.

The Lord loves relationship. The Lord saves from death. God is the only one (as the psalmist acknowledged) who can save from eternal death. However, even in physical death, the lord cares deeply for his loved ones – vs. 15.

Are you feeling alone and in pains? Have you lost someone very dear to you? Do you have worries and think God is not close enough to listen? We are reminded today that God loves us, cares deeply for us and is nearer to us than the air we breathe!

How can you provide words of succour to a hurting relative today?

PRAYER:
Lord, help me know daily that you care about me, and help me develop an intimate friendship with you.

TOPIC:NOT WITHOUT A PROOF

BIBLE READING:
Acts 1:1-5

1 The former treatise have I made, O Theophilus, of all that Jesus began both to do and teach,

2 Until the day in which he was taken up, after that he through the Holy Ghost had given commandments unto the apostles whom he had chosen:

3 To whom also he shewed himself alive after his passion by many infallible proofs, being seen of them forty days, and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God:

4 And, being assembled together with them, commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which, saith he, ye have heard of me.

5 For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence.

MEDITATION:
Though skepticism and atheism deny the validity and historicity of Jesus resurrection, the Scripture did not leave us without an evident proof. By default, humans seek evidences and proofs in all they do – from purchasing grocery to faith. Interestingly, God is aware of this weakness, and does not fail to strengthen our faith in Him. Jesus knew his disciples would battle with doubts, so he presented himself to them in flesh. Christ's resurrection was not ghostly. It is a physical resurrection.

His appearance was not a one-time event. He was with them, conversing and teaching the disciples about God's Kingdom for 40 days – providing them many convincing proofs – vs. 3. That's more than enough time to help their doubts, and strengthen their faith.

There are moments when we are in doubt of our faith, of God's love or even His existence. These persist when our doubts appear more believable than God's promises. We should rather turn our faces to Jesus. It is in continual gaze into Christ that our faces become brightened with hope, hearts strengthened by grace, and consequently our faith made firm.

Jesus' life, death, burial and resurrection are not mere famous mythologies; they are events that traverse space and time. He once walked this path in history, and now lives here in the hearts of those who believe. Christ has not left us without convincing proofs. Allow Jesus take you through the journey into the Scripture, and watch as he helps you relive your faith again.

PRAYER:
Lord, help me to continually look unto you, the Author and Finisher of my faith.

TOPIC:CHRIST, THE FINAL VERDICT

BIBLE READING:
Psalms 2:1-12

1 Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing?

2 The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD, and against his anointed, saying,

3 Let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us.

4 He that sitteth in the heavens shall laugh: the LORD shall have them in derision.

5 Then shall he speak unto them in his wrath, and vex them in his sore displeasure.

6 Yet have I set my king upon my holy hill of Zion.

7 I will declare the decree: the LORD hath said unto me, Thou art my Son; this day have I begotten thee.

8 Ask of me, and I shall give thee the heathen for thine inheritance, and the uttermost parts of the earth for thy possession.

9 Thou shalt break them with a rod of iron; thou shalt dash them in pieces like a potter's vessel.

10 Be wise now therefore, O ye kings: be instructed, ye judges of the earth.

11 Serve the LORD with fear, and rejoice with trembling.

12 Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and ye perish from the way, when his wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all they that put their trust in him.

MEDITATION:
In the movie Transcendence, Dr. Will Caster, while delivering a lecture on his latest mind-bulging infinitely intelligent program, was asked a question by one of the attendants: “Dr. Caster, so you want to create a god – your own god?” Dr. Caster replied and said, “Isn't that what man has always done?”

From the fall at the Garden of Eden, humans have continued to create for, and in themselves a god. The nations have continued to rage, and the people have not waned in devising plots against God and His anointed One. God's Lordship appears to the world as unwanted fetters from which they must break free. From global politics and finance to activism, the war of sinful man against God continues to rage. Today, the courts debate God's moral position. The intellectuals employ all the ammunitions in their arsenals to put the God-idea to the sword. Governments are not relenting in erecting
systems that defy God.

The psalmist shows us these rumblings are, but, momentary. For God will rebuke every authority and institution set up against Him. And He has set a King in place. He will possess the ends of the earth, and break them to pieces like pottery. We are reminded that Christ, and not the kings and powers of this earth (and their policies), is the verdict.

PRAYER:
Lord, help me to always remember that you are sovereign over all powers, authorities and nations.

TOPIC:SERVANTHOOD TO BROTHERHOOD

BIBLE READING:
Philemon 1:25

25 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit. Amen.

MEDITATION:
Globally, the discourse on equality, equity, unity, forgiveness, reconciliation etc has been on-going for several years. The establishment of the League of Nations in January, 1920, after World War I, followed by the United Nations in October 1945 after World War II, were all attempts to address these issues. Unfortunately, the various efforts have not yielded much success over 100 years of the first attempt.

The epistle of Apostle Paul to Philemon is a classical writing on the subject of brotherly love, equity, unity, equality, unfeigned forgiveness, Christian character and charity. In this epistle, a slave, named Onesimus had robbed and wronged his master, Philemon and escaped. Somehow he came in contact with Paul where he got saved. Though an asset to Paul in his new found life in Christ, he knew and realized that Onesimus had a responsibility to return to Philemon, his master.

The letter is intended to serve as a guide to other slave owners on masterslave relationship. Onesimus would probably not have returned to Philemon if he had not been born again. The forgiveness which believers find in Christ is vividly portrayed by the analogy in Philemon. Onesimus was guilty of a great offence – vv. 11, 18. Motivated by love, Paul lays aside his rights – vs. 8, and became Onesimus substitute by assuming his debt – vv. 18, 19. By Philemon's gracious act, Onesimus was restored and placed in a new relationship – vv. 15, 16. He had moved from servanthood to
brotherhood.

PRAYER:
Dear Lord, please give me the grace to forgive others, even as you forgave me.
