It's simple Nigerian mentality - There's nothing I can do to change it, its the govt's, God's or some person other than myself's fault and responsibility, my job is to cry and whine.

Do you know that the earth has more that enough supply of water for every single person on it? Yet so many die of thirst and dehydration. The point is it is up to you and me to be of service to those who are less privilege. If every one that has gives a portion to those that do not then poverty and suffering will disappear.

Why I replied this in the first place is the derogatory remarks you made about our honorable, humble and loyal Vice-President.

He was better that his Edo counterpart even if he only had a year or so in office.

Igbinedion did absolutely NOTHING. Backed by the Benin monarch he looted the state's treasury and silenced his opposition. He owed state workers their wages even as he left.

I can not think of a completed road in Benin itself during my 4 years in the state. The only one that was made was not completed and was even going bad.

The Vice-President is even humble in person. Just because He is not ambitious does not mean he is a lame sitting vice president. He has held meetings and is the chairman appointed by the President championing the peace process in the Niger Delta.

He made a lot of the top militant groups come out to denounced abductions and kidnap. Right now abductions are not done by the big groups, you wont even understand this.

The Vice-President also is credited for the appointment of several technocrats from the south in top governmental positions. With him the Niger Delta may become a better place.

It's one of the first real meaningful initiative I've noticed on nairaland and I believe it has the potential to positively influence a lot of lives.

As much as I try to ignore the poster's background (which as Romeo pointed out is worse than the maid's) i get to understand how maids (domestic workers) are segregated in our society. It's indeed sad and most of us are culprits.

Your maid is not different from other youngsters that get pregnant or have sex. It's no longer such a big deal as it used to be. A lot of people have contributed positively and nicely. Proper care should be provided for her. She needs all the love, care and patience during the period. Your parents can influence hers and cause them to show support. Also the father of the baby should take responsibilities. When the child is born they can take the right decision, but this is what should be done now.

Yes I agree we need a proper and well detailed plan. We can not afford to embark on this project based on emotion, luck or pure chance. We need a detailed description of our vision, goals, time lines, targets, staff, number of protege, plan of action, impact assessment and implication etc.

I want us to put everything into perspective, even the negatives and how we can turn it into positives. We need to understand our environment and work with it . . . I saw Renaissance Group ad on CNN concerning Africa's Emerging markets and it caught my attention. As much as we can cry and whine about the environment, foreign investors come in here, work it out and profit. MTN is a vivid example of the modern day Firm in Nigeria. Oil sectors show other examples. Everything can be achieved.

A great man once said that - "Any subject can be taught to any student at any level as far as it is taught with intellectual integrity."

We can change the mentality of folks here even with the negative forces around. Lets just get the plan and the right set of people to do the job.
