Gov. Abdulazeez Yari of Zamfara on Tuesday in Abuja raised alarm over stock piling of arms by bandits operating in the state.

Yari made this known while speaking with State House correspondents after he had updated President Muhammadu Buhari on the socio-political and security developments in the state.

Naija Politico learnt that the governor, who ruled out dialogue with bandits, said: “I have told my people that dialogue will no longer take place during my time because I have done that three times, but it did not work.

“This is in the sense that we know their capacity.

“For instance, during the first dialogue, they invited some of our team, army, DSS, police, and my chief security officer as well as some representatives of traditional rulers and we have seen what they have.

“They are in control of the kind of weapons that the security command in Zamfara does not have.

“In one armoury alone, they have more than 500 AK 47 rifles; we saw it.

“Our people were even given the chance to take pictures.

“But when we said we will dialogue and offer them amnesty if they surrendered their arms, they refused.

“I can tell you that till date we have not received up to 90 AK 47 rifles.

“So it is deceit. That is why I said no more dialogue during my tenure.

“During dry season they try to get us to dialogue because they know the security forces can get to them anywhere in the forest and they would not have a place to hide.

“But when the rainy season comes and the forest becomes thicker they return to their normal practice.

“That is why I said there has to be a show of force before anything else.

“I know that in any war, eventually you have to come to the table and dialogue, but at this point and given the situation we are in right now, dialogue is not needed.’’

The governor expressed the hope that the Federal Government would soon address the security challenges facing the state as it would soon take delivery of military hardware and modern weapons to check the activities of the bandits in the area and beyond.

“The Federal Government has already given procurement contracts, inter-government transactions to the United States, China, and other European countries.

In 2018, the Nigeria Governors Forum, approved one billion dollars to help the Federal Government equip the security agencies.

“We believe the equipment will soon come into the country and it is our hope that the equipment will be used so that this worrying situation that we are in will become history,’’ he added.

I got it from the start actually and your point is duly noted. Just that the pic was just one out of the other observations. "Important" to me means achievements in his field which brought him recognition internationally such as the penguin prize and Canada Bureau of International Education Leadership Award in 2017. He has also been a Fellow of the French Institute for Research in Africa (IFRA) from 1993 to 1997, and a Fellow of the French Institute of South Africa (IFAS) in 1998 and 2000. Taking personal pictures like this with high political figures here in Canada is nothing and does not prove that the person is important. The politicians will gladly take pictures with you if you are at the same event (rallies, conferences etc) with them.

I (SixSigma), have taken personal pictures (keyword here is personal) with the following high political figures in the past just has many have done:

1. Paul Martin - Former Prime Minister of Canada from 2003 to 2006. I took a personal picture with him at a conference in Toronto, Ontario in 2005.
2. Jason Kenney - Former Minister for Citizenship, Immigration and Multiculturalism, former Minister of National Defense and currently Leader of United Conservative Party of Alberta (running to be the next Premier of Alberta). I took a personal picture with him at a rally in Calgary, Alberta in October 2018.
3. Doug Ford - Current Premier of Ontario. I took a personal picture with him at a rally in Calgary, Alberta in October 2018. The same rally where I met Jason Kenney.

Many people irrespective of how important they are took personal pictures with theses political figures at those same events.

You are upset like this because Muslims have been targeted this time. They are upset because Christians have been routinely targeted but Muslims haven't spoken vehemently against such attacks.. Why don't we all just condemn evil doers with one voice instead of looking out for only our own people

The real reason why this kind of attacks persist is because we fail to condemn all such attacks vehemently but only do so when it affects our own people. He probably also felt he was avenging the several attacks by Isis, al Qaeda and similar groups which were and are being carried out against civilian Caucasians. We should always condemn such attacks even if our own people are not involved. It goes a long way if we always speak out against terror attacks of all kinds.

Only a mad man would support such an attack and also only a mad man would support attacks by Isis and similar groups. Innocent civilians should never be targeted. We should all learn to speak up when the innocent are being killed and not only when it is our own people. This applies to all of us. Visa granted eventually and picture proof posted to show that they reversed their decision without a fourth application..
Naturalised Canadian not inferior to citizen by birth except maybe when contesting for the highest offices.
Family is cherished in Canada and no CITIZEN will be presented from having a visit from family except in extreme circumstances. They don't treat their citizens like trash the way you do here.

So? He was important for being a professor in a university in Canada, that still does not make him any bit influential to get his mother a visa. Even the Prime Minister cannot easily influence visa issuance, which you'll know if you'd bothered to do some reading rather than wasting time digging up unrelated stories.

The point remains:

1. His mother was NEVER given a visa in her house and it'll never happen in a million years

2. the government of Canada NEVER apologized to the old woman, and it'll never happen
