ReubenE: OK. Is that also the reason her money was confiscated that is not a proceed of the crime she is convicted for. Again, he could have sentenced her to six months rather than a year. All that for exchanging money at a party and you don't see anything wrong because she is a serial offender.
Something is wrong with that judgment. I don't understand why you don't see it so.
If she or her lawyer sees something wrong with the judgement as you said, there is always room for appeal.
Just know that there is always a maximum sentence attached to every case under the law. Once an accused has been found guilty, he/she is now at the mercy of the judge, who can decide to invoke the maximum sentence or be a bit lenient.
ReubenE: One year imprisonment with no option of fine for hawking naira plus forfeiture of the 3 million POS business money to Federal government - all for hawking naira.
Nigeria has happened to this woman despite being guilty of a petty offence. I hope she had not argued previously with anyone that Nigeria is a good country for everyone. I sincerely pity her cause something is wrong with that trial judge
Nothing is wrong with the judgement sir. Read the report again, she is a serial offender hence, the reason for no option of fine. The other woman was given the option of fine because she is a first offender.
helinues: I doubt. Considering the rate of defection from the Pdp big wigs in South South, president Tinubu trying to make imprint to the region, there is no hope for Peter Obi in South South
And to those claiming those who are defecting dont have more than 1 vote, you better have a rethink as those politicians command the supporters on ground
All the fake story regarding president Tinubu and the Muslim Muslim ticket have been debunked. South South people have realised facts from fictions
As an administrator or a technocrat, Obi is a Presidential material but as a politician, the best he can be is a Vice Presidential material. Truth be told I don't think Obi can get more than the number of votes he got in the last election as a Presidential candidate. to win he needs a VP who can get him at least 3m more votes, and believe me any northerner (e.g Kwankwanso) that can command such number would see himself superior to Obi.
The Only pathway for Presidency for Obi is to be a VP to a northerner who can gather at least 6 to 7m votes added to Obi's about 3 to 4m votes (That is the range of what he can get in the next election, mark my words) and after the tenure of the northern president he can now come out for presidency (If the north is north ready to discard him by then, because it takes only "m@dm@n" like Tinubu to match the North's power entitlement mentality)
Some infants in politics will still tell you that as a governor he has just one vote.
Firstly just know that it is absolutely impossible for APC to have less than 30% to 40% of the votes cast in a presidential election in states the party is controlling, if you compared that with what they got in South South in 2023 then you know all these governors defecting is a big deal
Number 2, and the most important fact is that of finance. To run a party successfully, you need a lot of money, where will PDP get the money from, not to talk of forming a coalition, that one costs a fortune, where are they going to get the money for float the SDP coalition?
When APC was formed, the money of Rivers was there, Lagos money was there, Edo state money was there, the personal war chest of Tinubu was there as oil in the machinery of the coalition. Now, Delta money is gone, Akwa Ibom money is gone, Edo money gone, Rivers mega money about to go. All Tinubu is doing is just to starve the opposition of resources to mount any meaningful challenge.
You said 2000 earlier sir, That is why I gave you the accurate data for that year and the other years you erroneously quoted in your earlier comment. But if you have changed it to 1999, then you are not far from the accurate figure. The average for the year 1999 was $19.
And from the data I gave you: 2022 was the only year oil sold for above $90 between 2015 and 2025
Oil sold for over $90 for five consecutive years between 2010 and 2014
I'm not holding forth for any government. Just trying to point out accurate analysis and reporting of data.
004gist: Then i ask again. How much was oil when obasanjo took over and how much is oil today?
Let me help u. Here are the budget benchmark over the years of APC. Where are all the excesses they got all this while that's what this post is about.
You can't school me on Economics...
I'm not schooling you on Economics sir, just pointing out to you that you need to put the budget benchmark side by side with price of oil. The table you showed is not showing average price of oil for each period displayed. Incomplete data is incorrect data in Economics sir.
004gist: Oil that sold above 80 Dollars through out Buhari period
Check the price of oil now
Obasanjo sold oil from 13 to 30 dollar per barrel to save that and build the reserve to 45 billion and excess crude to 25 billion on top of that he paid debt of over 13 billion plus. Cleared our paris club and set Nigeria on road map afterwards
Only for this APC but to sink Nigeria low again
Excess means above the budget benchmark. Meaning if the budget benchmark for oil is 80dpb, then if oil does not sell above that then nothing will be saved. if the budget is 20dpb it means any amount above 20dpb can be saved. It is not just about the amount crude oil is sold but the amount it is sold vis-à-vis what was budgeted.
People that were busy insulting Jonathan, insulting PDP.
16 years of PDP they called rot turn out 1m % better than them
Nigeria in safe hands... For 8 years couldn't ssve penny.
My Reforms are working.. Almost 4 years no koko.
PDP paid subsidy and were able to save. APC removed subsidy in everything n couldn't save a penny rather they borrowed
Excess crude account savings means amount above the crude oil price benchmark is saved there. If price of oil doesn't go above the benchmark in the budget it means nothing will be saved.
malali: The latest ECA balance proves beyond debate: this administration is racing Nigeria to poverty at breakneck speed. In 2021, our Excess Crude Account had $72.4 million. In 2025, it’s now a pitiful $473,000 — almost completely wiped out. (Mind you, it doesn't reflect that we have not paid oil subsidy and Forex subsidy in 2 years, where are the billions saved from this ?) Add the mountain of reckless borrowings and it’s clear: Nigeria is being hollowed out financially right before our eyes.
Did you even read what you posted before posting and commenting on it at the same time?
ElevationD: You are not a Senator. You are not a member of the National Assembly. You are not Gov. Ododo or Ex Gov Bello. You are not Senator Karimu and you are not one of the power brokers in Kogi state or the Senate. I do not think that you are from Kogi state either.
Having clarified the above, how did you arrive at your conclusion that Senator Natasha is going out of hand, or that she’s mentally unstable? Do you know what goes on between the warring parties? Do you have any information about their inner dealings? Can you claim to know more than her in a matter that she is deeply part of? Do you know Akpabio personally? If sh says Akpabio had a meeting, how can you dispute it? Do you know what she knows?
Stop drawing such conclusions or shooking your mouth in such matter that is bigger than you.
We all know that there is an allegation against Akpabio of sexual assault. We all know there is a suspension. We all know that there is an orchestrated plan by APC to remove her and replace with runaway Yaya Bello. We all know that APC does not want her to get to her home in Ihime. They failed. We all know that APC members in Kogi central labeled themselves as “constituents”, and organized to remove her. We all know that INEC notified Akpabio and her. We all know that she must fight back for her survival. We all saw the crowd of real constituents. Or did that crowd cause you and APC Kogi state some fear? We all know that Akpabio don buy market, which he knows. We also know that Akpabio is fighting for his own survival.
What we do not know, all of us, are their interpersonal discussions and moves. We do not know what truly happens underground. Let’s offer our contributions with insight and sense and not with such unnecessary verbal abuses.
Ruke1989: Delta state and river state in the south south has produced the most stupid ex governors in the history of Nigeria politics who use their state resources to fund federal elections that they are not contesting as president
1) Okowa borrowed 300 billion to fund atiku 2) Peter odili fund obj 2nd term hoping for a return favour 3) Ibori funded yaradua with delta money hoping he will be VP later on thru northern support 4) Amaechi now bittered used rivers state money to fund buhari 1st tenure hoping buhari will help him become president even fight his own brother 5) wike now bittered donated N500 million of rivers money to Sokoto state hoping tambuwa will help him win party primary.
Next elections their predecessors in delta and rivers will still make the same mistakes. They are fools
osuofia2: You are right. Kwankwaso, The G5 all did them PDP strong thing. Naturally the votes Obi got would have normally been PDP votes. But the did has been done, it is left for them to make amend
mannobi: With the preparation for the AFCON 2025 edition in full gear, African countries have now known their opponents in the biennial contest. Nigeria, a finalist in the last edition will be hoping to consolidate on their silver medals as they are drawn in group C along familiar north African foe (Tunisia). Here is the breakdown of the groupings. 2025 AFCON FINAL DRAW ⚽
FreedomfromtheT: I personally know members of Deeper Life Bible Church who have been wearing jewelries consistently to church. Every genuine minister of the gospel will always preach about the danger of watching evils in the tv, phones, social media and books. Throwing away of tv set is extreme. You need to show evidence that pastor Kumuyi actually told members to throw away their tv sets. Thank you. I am proud of Nathaniel Bassey and pastor William Kumuyi.
Alright then. I can confirm then that you don't know as much as you claim about Pastor Kumuyi and also, you just started following Deeper Life Bible Church recently.
I am proud of them as well. Pastor Nathaniel Bassey is an acquaintance
FreedomfromtheT: My friend, some of pastor Kumuyi's past messages are on tape and can be downloaded on your iphone if you have any. I requested for proof that pastor Kumuyi made the 'rules' you listed earlier. You have none only to simply jump to another. May be you should try listening to him yourself instead of relying on hearsay.
Sorry sir. Are you saying Pastor Kumuyi supports the use of Jewellery including golden buckle belt for men?
Are you saying Pastor Kumuyi has never preached that watching TV is worldly which necessitated members throwing away their TVs and he didn't stop them from doing so?
Your assumption that I don't have iPhone might be right. Thank God iPhone is no more Devil's box now unlike before. I won't mind you buying 16 for me and putting all those messages where pastor Kumuyi has always supported jewellery and told his members not to throw away their TVs.
I don't want to rely on hearsay as you admonished. I'm expecting the messages on the iPhone 16
FreedomfromtheT: Did Pastor Kumuyi make those 'rules'you enumerated? Please can you quote any spoken or written meesage where he made any of such? Thank you.
There were no televised messages then. But you can ask any old member of DLC who had listened to Pastor Kumuyi back then. or any of the cassettes later recorded in the 80s.
To answer your question, I can't get anyone to quote now. But I don't think you are trying to say Pastor Kumuyi never said the use of Jewelry is a sin or that watching TV is worldly.
FreedomfromtheT: Pastor William Folorunso Kumuyi is still preaching against every form of sin including immorality on the tv, on phones, on social media and in the society. He is one of the most consistent preachers in the world today. You need to listen to him. If you don't still agree because of your stereotyped mindset or hate, a lot of Nigerian Christians including American Christians do. I am proud of pastor Kumuyi. Thank you.
Looks like you are the one that doesn't know Pastor W. F. Kumuyi
Those that have been following him since his early days know many of his hard stances then that have now been relaxed (maybe as a result of understanding better like Paul the Apostle)
Back in the days, TV was "Devil's box" but Pastor Kumuyi now broadcast on TV and internet
Back then you as a man dare not pick a lady on your Bike even if you stay in the same house and you are going to fellowship together. She would have to leg it to Church if necessary while you ride alone on your 'Okada', That too has been relaxed now if I'm not mistaken
It used to be worldly for your trousers to be too long or you use a belt with golden (even though na painted metal) buckle. Those rules and laws are no more in place and some others I can't remember now
Pastor Kumuyi is a preacher of the word of God with emphasis on holiness that has not changed but as the guy pointed out, Pastor also understands better now that most of those rules of then are just doctrines of men and not necessarily laws of God.
AntiZikist: So you don't know the FG can follow up on any court ruling up to the Supreme court ?
Why are you people so daft?
Take your time to explain, you don't need to become abusive it's only people who are bereft of ideas or lack the ability to engage in meaningful discussion that do such.
Now let us point out the bone of contention.
Appeal court freed Kanu on let us say 17th January 2025
Did FG appeal the case in supreme court on 17th January 2025?
If not, what is stopping Kanu from being released on 17th January 2025 till when the FG would have successfuly filed the appeal?
Let us assume the FG successfully filed the appeal on 18th January 2025, Kanu should have enjoyed 24hrs freedom before being detained if status quo must remain.
The above is how to engage in discussion. you can now set out your own counter argument in like manner.
AntiZikist: Is the Appeal court above the Supreme court?
You can not be selective in which judgement to abide to.
The supreme court has ruled that Kanu's case mist continue and that is final.
He said what was Kanu doing in jail for 1 full year after the appeal court had freed him before the supreme court that said the case must continue (1 year later). I guess that's the area you need to provide answer for if you have the answer.
Glimpsetv: A young lady has shared her unfortunate experience of being scammed by someone she met on Tinder. The story highlights how trust and excitement can be manipulated by online predators.
It all started in 2021 when she matched with a man named Jude on Tinder. Their conversations were great, and they quickly transitioned to chatting on WhatsApp. Jude claimed he was based in the UK and mentioned he would be visiting Nigeria for Christmas. He even offered to bring her gifts and asked what she would like. She requested a bag and a dress, and Jude promised to deliver.
A few days later, he told her he had already shipped the items, even sending her a tracking link. To her surprise, the package seemed much more elaborate than she expected. Along with the bag and dress, the tracking information showed an iPhone 11 Pro Max, shoes, perfume, chocolates, and more. Jude explained that the package had been shipped to Abuja instead of Lagos, so she needed to arrange home delivery herself.
She called the courier service and opted for delivery by road, paying ₦12,500. However, things quickly became suspicious. The courier called back, claiming the package couldn't pass through the scanner due to its contents. Jude then revealed that he had placed £200 in cash in the package for her expenses—but also included some "drugs." Alarmed but still trusting him, she paid an additional ₦35,000 to "settle" the situation.
The next day, a supposed delivery rider contacted her, saying he was on his way with her package. Hours passed, and when she called him, he claimed the police had stopped him, searched the package, and confiscated it after finding drugs. The rider demanded more money to retrieve the package, claiming it was a federal crime.
At this point, the lady became suspicious. She asked for the officer's number and called, but the person on the line demanded ₦250,000 to release the package. Realizing the absurdity of the situation, she reached out to Jude—only to find that he had blocked her.
Reflecting on the incident, she described how the scam unraveled: "This idiot blocked me, and that was when it hit me—I had been scammed!"
Her story serves as a cautionary tale about being cautious with online relationships and transactions. Please, let’s all be careful out there.
The section in bold above shows the kind of person you are. Somebody said he included drugs in your package and you still went along to send money to get the drugs delivered to you. What did you intend to do with the drugs or you don't know you are indirectly confirming that you are criminally minded yourself?
You may cheat an honest man but you can NEVER dupe an honest man.
rescuenaija: The Bauchi State Government has dismissed allegations that it allocated N400 million in the 2025 budget to purchase six computers for the Office of the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), labelling the claim as “a lie from the pit of hell.” Here are the indisputable facts: The proposed budget allocates N250 million for the procurement of IT infrastructure, which includes approximately 150 computers to be distributed across the SSG office, Bauchi Environmental Protection Agency, Hajj Commission, Bauchi State Primary Healthcare Service, and select secondary schools in Bauchi State
The IT infrastructure doesn't have name? The only thing that has name there is 150 computers for 250m Naira (Average 1.65m Naira per computer). Though we know that all the computers that would be bought cannot be up to 50 and all those "pentium zero" archaic computers.
