Umuinyioku:Apologies for my error. |
Umuinyioku:Behind bar is not correct. "Behind bars" is a phrase, it's an idiomatic expression, it is not plural to "behind bar" that you wrote there. Actually, the phrase 'behind bar' does not exist. Accept the correction and move on. We learn every day |

IgboSomalia:You didn't remind him of a certain John Fashanu who shunned Nigeria because he thought we would never qualify for world cup (Nigeria had never qualified for world cup by the way). He played all qualifiers for England only to be dumped after they qualified, he didn't make the world cup squad. Ironically Super Eagles qualified for the world cup for the first time in USA 94, and that squad remains the best of Nigeria to date, coming 4th in FIFA ranking. John Fashanu later turned himself to an advocate advising all young Nigeria players in England to choose Nigeria over England. We learn every day |

ThierryJay:Yeah, another masterpiece. Never watched the movie though. Now that you mentioned it I think I will check it out. Just that it's difficult for me to watch those old movies adapted from books. I will still check it out though. But there is this thing about "Pillars of the Earth" that stands it out for me. I forgot to mention "nothing lasts forever" by Sidney Sheldon, It should be at the top of the shelf too. |
jikoko:You have read only 20 and he is your best? Those 20 might not be part of his best. Wait till you read from like 60 upwards, you will become addicted. I finished reading all his over 100 books somewhere around 1994 We learn every day |
Zayttoven:Difficult to pick out A few of James Hardly Chase like "Who wants to stay alive?", The four Mark Girland series, etc. A few from Jeffery Archer, Sidney Sheldon, Robert Ludlum, etc. But if you push me to pick one by force, I will go for "Pillars of the Earth" by Ken Follet A notable mention is this Yoruba Classic "Atoto Arere" By Oladejo Okediji We learn every day. |

You may have points with your submission but RJolad has history of medical negligence, 'no be today'. That's why it is important to do due diligence when choosing a private hospital and not relying on fine building or one person's bias or opinion. I can relate with this because back then when I was in Lagos I almost lost someone to this same kind of negligence, especially from the junior doctors who are always the ones on the ground. Our saving grace then was the man himself just happened to by chance be around that time before he started shouting and everybody started running helter-skelter and by God's grace the woman's life and the baby were saved. But despite that the agony the woman went through for the next 3 months of delivery can not really be described as a result of the earlier negligence. It was after that incident I started hearing other stories. This incident happened almost 10 years ago but to date, you will continue to hear one story or the other about them. People go to quack doctors and deliver safely, even at home unaided but when you go to a hospital that promises premium care, then you expect premium care at all costs because you are paying for the premium, not general care. seborrhic: |

OredoPikin:It's alright to go into hiding when you have been found out and you realize you have punched above your weight. So, next time, concentrate your energy on trying to hold governor Obaseki or whoever your state governor is accountable, and stop hating. |
OredoPikin:In case you have issues with English language comprehension, let me list it out for you. 1. No one is doing comparison with your unknown state (even though healthy rivalry among states will lead to National development) 2. The developments you are seeing in the last 20 years in Lagos has nothing to do with it being FCT at one time or the other. It rather has to do with vision of some people and they followed it up till date and still continuing. 3. Let us leave out IGR, what do the other governors do with their monthly allocation? (to buy dollars and resell to BDCs?) or what? If you can't hold them accountable to the allocation they are collecting, how will you hold them accountable if they are getting the kind of IGR of Lagos. 4. Lagos is not responsible for the misery of your state and her gullible citizens. Whether you are from Osun, Imo or Zamfara, critisize your governors doing nothing and leave Lagos state alone, let her continue her development to the envy of others. They say "if you can not beat them, join them" NOT "if you cannot beat them, commit su1cide" If you still have difficulty with any of the above, feel free to ask for explanation, I will oblige you. We learn every day |
OredoPikin:And the discussion is below you I guess? How many roads or the road network do you want to put in Lagos that can serve the population of Lagos compared with the land mass of the state (maybe you are right, maybe the discussion is beyond you). Rail line is not an achievement for a place like Lagos but kerosene distribution is an achievement maybe? Do you know the number of people the Blue Line rail alone has assisted in reducing the number of hours they spend on road commuting to work and back? Many don't take their cars to work again, reducing fuel consumption, reducing the number of cars on the road, increasing productivity, etc. Read up on something called the 'multiplier effect' You are not making sense in your third paragraph. Speak in the language an average person can understand. Nobody is comparing, even though healthy rivalry among states leads to greater developments. Challenge your governors to create a developmental vision and start implementing it. Stop hating for no reason. Lagos is not the cause of your state governor's incompetence and the citizens' 'short-sightedness' We learn every day |
OredoPikin:Is it the Federal capital that now signed this rail project and completed it? Sometimes one tends to want to believe those who say some of you guys just don't like any good news coming out of Lagos. What is stopping other states from developing based on the level of their allocations or/and IGR? If this governor refused to follow the road map he met on the ground and decided to steal every money coming into the state like most of those governors do what would anybody do about that? Instead of you guys using such projects like this to challenge your state governors whether you are from Anambra or Ondo or Cross River, you kept saying former capital. Is it former capital that conceived the idea of BRT, The rail network, the LFT zone, etc. Challenge your governors to design short, medium and long-term plans and start working towards it, Most of Lagos state projects are public, private partnership driven. why are other governors or stakeholders in those states lazy or fail to hold their leaders accountable? Let successive administrations continue from where the previous ones stopped. Even if they are stealing money along the way, as long as development is going on there will be minimal outcry. In summary, Lagos is doing relatively well today not because it was capital territory, all these new developments aforementioned were conceived post-FCT by someone with a vision, and making sure each governor coming after him follows the template. |

dawnomike:Registered Bureau de Change is legal. Their activities are monitored by the CBN, in fact, CBN sells Dollars to them. However, very few BDCs are registered. 98% of all those people you see on the road don't have any link whatsoever with the CBN and hence, they are into money racketeering, laundering, and every monetary crime EFCC can think of. Nonny95:So, your messiah is a prostitute by your submission. Alright, From your language I could see clearly that you are from the 'gutter' and I wouldn't want to blame your poor parents for how you turned out. Your case could be that of a child given training but refused to take to it (this is even obvious from the way you are struggling to string your sentences together). So I wouldn't send you back home to your parents yet for re-training until I'm sure they failed in their duties. But as for you as an individual, you can never go beyond the wretched position you are presently which has led to you being frustrated with life all because you hide behind a phone (probably given to you as "an intervention" to disrespect who you can never attain their level in life.We learn every day |
