Larry1960: It's has gone up to 605. Anybody wey won enter na to hold minimum of 16-17M UK own na no go area. I guess the number of people wey wan travel go soon reduce cos this na discouragement how can oando rate be even higher than black market rate. Black market is between 570-590
Before with minimum of #10M you fit still enter Canada but now minimum of 16-17m UK now na from 20Million minimum upwards to enter uk. I don't even understand what this Tinubu dey do I swear this policy no dey help matter only solution na to increase our export only God know whether dangote refinery go bring succour soon I heard yesterday them wan release some more forex into the economy
Make we see if the coming months e go bring the price down na so them still talk for the subsidy removal say fuel go still come down Na so o. But 553 is what IRCC used as at 22nd not the Oando's 605. Hopefully by releasing more Forex will adjust the price downwards in the short run and with the billions of dollars being paid for subsidy scam stopped can also assist to push the price down. The long run solution as you said is for our exports to miraculously increase from just the oil to other things. |

IfnobeGod20: We suppose to learn everyday but you've have not learnt anything.
Did she says, she's not an employee of Amazon? I won't mind if you can reference me where she said so.
I also want to know where she said she has a score to settle with INEC, when a case she has with INEC had been resolved to her favour by the court. Hope you're not manufacturing another case on her head that she doesn't know. Meanwhile, the case she has with INEC was it a case of life and death that will warrant her to be nursing grudge with the commission?
Just I had said, you've not learnt anything today. There is quotation marks around the last statement to let you know it's my own write up of how the lawyers would shred the so called expert witness to pieces. So in simple terms the lawyers will suggest her intentions to the judges and based on her responses in the cross examination the judges will accept she is just a disgruntled member of LP seeking for score to settle with INEC and the opposition she lost against. Please go back and read the report again, she agreed that she was neither employed by Amazon nor sent by them to represent the company. E.g If you are Microsoft certified does not make you an employee of Microsoft. If we are not going to be clever by half, Amazon can never send any of it's employees to testify against a client especially as big as INEC hence the reason for LP to bring a local certified cloud engineer to act as an expert witness which she has now confirmed that she is not, as anybody can download her so called report from the internet.

If you know how law works you will know that this particular witness evidence will be totally dismissed. She was brought as an expert witness and she has confirmed herself that she is no expert witness to speak on the matter.
If you want to provide such downloaded evidence, just bring it since it's on public domain and defend what is there. If Amazon cannot send anyone officially to testify on the matter then never claim you have an Amazon expert as a witness.

successmatters: This is a big bone in the throat of INEC If you know what's up you would flog LP lawyers for fielding this kind of candidate. She rather dented the case rather than contributing anything. Defendants' lawyer closing remark on the witness will go thus: "witness is an embittered LP member who has grudge against INEC for not publishing her name in the election she contested and is now standing as an expert. More so, the witness admitted she is neither a staff of Amazon nor was she authorizes by Amazon to speak on its behalf, she is rather looking for score to settle with INEC and therefore her evidence should be dismissed and declared none and void." I pity this generation of Yorubas I swear they're missing it completely.
Emifiele is no saint but he's not the boss of himself everything he did were from Buhari orders.
Make Una dey hail rubbis you people did worse during Buhari early days all na lamba Las Las
All this one he's doing is just initial gragra show of of force by next year we go know how everything go be
My own is if someone is treated bad na you hail the oppressor today tomorrow it will go round Emefiele and his group were obviously their own boss. They played on Buhari's naivety, sentiment and knowing next to nothing about economy. They sold the idea to him that it would fight corruption (the only thing they know Buhari loves hearing) and he accepted. They intentionally bypassed minister of finance because they knew that one would likely advised Buhari otherwise. How can a CBN implement such policy that will be of great impact on the economy without carrying economic minister along. Buhari has been called out for who he is, He is clueless about economic matters, but for Emefiele to now capitalize on that to subject Nigerians to one of the worst situations ever all because of personal ambition is just outrightly evil. Politics › Re: How Floating The Naira Benefits You - Reno Omokri by soojar(m): 10:28am On Jun 16, 2023 |
BATified23: When the Central Bank of Nigeria used to set the value of the Naira and defend that value by artificially pumping Dollars into the market, you, as an ordinary citizen, did not benefit. It was another girl subsidy. But this time, the subsidy recipients were importers and people who wanted to ferry money out of Nigeria.
Last year, the CBN was projected to have spent $8 billion to defend the naira's value artificially. The year before, it spent almost $ billion. That is more than what Nigeria spends on infrastructure annually. And that money just flies out of our economy, benefiting traders and foreign investors rather than manufacturers.
It dissuaded local manufacturing of made in Nigeria goods and services because it almost guaranteed that imports would be cheaper. That is why Aliko Dangote had to close his tomato paste factory in Kano because Peter Obi could always import and sell cheaper, substandard tomato paste.
All that will gradually end with the floating of the Naira. Our reserves will no longer be used to defend the Naira. Those who wish to take Dollars, Pounds, Euros and Yuan out of the country can look for it where they can legally find it. Anywhere except the Central Bank of Nigeria.
Our reserves will be used to defend local production instead of foreign consumption. The price of goods in Peter Obi's Next Cash and Carry will rise because they are almost 100% imported.
The price of locally manufactured goods, like Innoson Vehicles, and Dangote Tomato paste, will also rise, but not at the same rate as imported goods will increase.
But you, as a citizen, will gain because the money previously used to defend the Naira will now instead be used to pay Nigerians a living wage, build infrastructure, and service the proposed student loans, amongst other things.
It is a win-win scenario. That is why nobody who loves Nigeria should attack this patriotic policy that all major Presidential candidates, except Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, promised to implement.

Business › Re: CBN announces unification of FX windows, stops Naira4Dollar scheme by soojar(m): 12:12am On Jun 15, 2023 |
franchasofficia: A good start for now.
But guess where the problem is?
CBN doesn't have enough dollar to meet Nigerians' usd demand, remember we are an import dependent country.
What it means is that Nigeria doesn't earn enough FX through export to meet up with the dollar demand of Nigerians, which means many Nigerians will be going to Aboki for dollar and Aboki will be determining the rate based on demand of dollar for the day, and this will definitely lead to uncontrolled crash of Naira value against USD.
I commend Tinubu for this good dollar floating policy, but it would have been better done after putting certain things in place to ensure CBN earns or have enough dollar to supply to all banks to sell to Nigerians.
One of those things that would earn us more FX and also reduce our FX outflow is putting our local refineries in working condition and leasing them out to private entities to run for Nigeria to reduce importation of petrol which gulps most of our FX. While fixing the national refineries, Dangote's refinery will also be ready and both combined would solve our importation of petrol which consumes majority of Nigeria's FX. The truth is that there is nothing we can put in place to earn more dollars in the short run. Our total dependence is on oil, it will take years if not decades before we can be earning the kind of dollar we need from say agriculture. So the best thing for now is what Tinubu has done that is; even if we are not earning more dollars, the little we earn should not be thrown away into some people's private pockets. Watch out, no more billions of dollars to pay subsidy, no more round tripping for theives in CBN and head of commercial banks, no more fraudulently collecting dollars from government by big importers and business men at 460 only to go sell to aboki at 700. If you want to import go and buy at the floating rate, that is how many honest importers have been buying for years anyway. We will have enough dollars for who wants to do legitimate business and I bet you in the next few weeks dollars will stabilize on it's true value for now which is like 650 to 700. The freed up dollars, if not looted again by another means, can now be used to start putting things in place to diversify our economy from 100% dependence on oil. Tinubu is getting it right so far, and he wants to use the opportunity of being a new regime still on honeymoon to quickly push out all the difficult decisions now and be working on reducing it's negative effects. Rather than Introducing them later when everyone will go against it. We learn every day. |

Mindlog: Going by antecedent, repayment will be very low as Nigeria do not have the structures to make it sustainable. It is actually very easy to administer. If you don't have job, you don't pay.. Any employer will make sure you get clearance from cbn that you are not owing, and if you are, a percentage of your salary will be going into repayment. If you are self employed, a percentage will be deducted from any of your bank accounts monthly except you won't operate any bank account, you won't have any reason to register anything with government, etc. We only hope it won't be man know man, or people in charge making it difficult to access so you can come 'buy' the loan We learn every day. |
