goslowgoslow:It is possible you are in America. That doesn't take away your illiteracy. I see your type every now and then. What I don't do is to indulge you. You talk anyhow claiming who you are not or saying what you know absolute nothing about, I won't spare you. If you make a sense--less comment and block me because you don't want your bubble burst, I will come after you through other means, take note. We learn every day |
goslowgoslow:Maybe he is the person bursting your bubbles that you don't know and you have refused to learn. If you know you have been found out just ignore and move on, not doubling down on your hearsay. |
ariesbull:Yes. Nigeria is blessed. If only true Federalism exist... We learn every day |
Dalohad:As some people have been pointing out to you, you are very wrong on this. It is extremely difficult for independent candidate to win anything in the USA at the national level, in fact, in the past like 50 to 70 years, only Bernie Sanders and Joe Lieberman have won as independent candidates, others won as either Republican or Democrats then defect to being independent after winning the election. 2. USA as perfect example of model of proper democracy? that is debatable. It depends on what you mean by that. For example, someone like Peter Obi can never win primaries in either of Democratic or Republican parties, because to do so you need to spend a lot of money, real money, and as Peter Obi is not of that ideology, the best he can be at national level is Senator or House of Rep. 3. Take note also that Electronic transmission is not Electronic voting I think you are mixing the 2 up. Electronic transmission means the vote would have concluded, entered manually into the form EC8a, signed by all authorized, before finally sending it to the portal. This is different from what you are thinking of that as someone votes, the count shows automatically on the portal; that is E-voting which is not the bone of contention here because that is not even on the table. Now, even if the compulsory controversial Electronic transmission is approved, you still need your agents to be sure it is your correct count that is recorded for you, even apart from rigging, there are cases where the electoral officer may say a particular ballot paper for your candidate is invalid because of the thumbprint, if your agent is there, he/she will be able to assess it and confirm if true, and if not he will insist it is counted for you and so many example like that. In the US that you reference, they have party representatives or poll watchers at the polling and collation centres. Conclusion: We need to start with the compulsory E-transmission, but it doesn't remove the fact that as a candidate, you need to have an agent in all the polling units if you are serious. In fact, if you are not able to get even just 1 person to serve as an agent for you in that unit it shows you are not actually popular in that unit We learn every day |

AMINDA:Doesn't it look to you that the intention of the girl is to blackmail? (if the whole story is as they described it). From the write-up, Nuhu Ribadu got her released and promised to give her money. When the money didn't come she resorted to writing petition which most likely made Ribadu to arrest her for blackmailing. Because by law you are not supposed to record your call with someone without informing the other party before-hand, you are free if the call doesn't get out to public but if it does, you can be sued for blackmailing now that money is involved. it is a criminal offense in Nigeria to record a phone conversation or private conversation without the consent of the other party. This acts as a breach of privacy under the Constitution and the Cybercrimes Act of 2015 Sections 24 and 37 says Unauthorized recording can lead to fines up to ₦7,000,000 and imprisonment for up to three years[i] We learn every day |

AMINDA:You are right. And the people dragging El Rufai to court also know this, and the plan is not to convict him because that is next to impossible. But a couple of things will happen: 1. In the process of saying he is not guilty, the lawyer will ask him did he say this? of course he will have to say yes, because the video is there for the whole world to see, Lawyer: were you lying then when you said that? the answer will also have to be Yes, he was lying. And believe you me, that is going to be their campaign slogan for 2027. 2. If he says he wasn't lying that is when he's getting ready for the jail (which cannot happen anyway) but they will drag him in and out of court till after 2027 elections. We learn every day |
OredoPikin2:Guy, wetin you see? you nor fit talk am. This is what happens when you want to show that you belong by joining the band wagon, you tend to expose your emptiness. Next time, if you don't understand, waka pass or wait till they post the reply in your whatsapp group then you can copy from there to paste here. We learn every day |
OredoPikin2:Guy what can you see? You goofed, simple. Next time, be sure you know what a discussion is about before you jump on it. If it's beyond you, read, pass. We learn every day |
OredoPikin2:Obviously this discussion is beyond your level. Do you at all know what primaries is? What concerns Tinubu with primaries in ADC? He will go write results for them there? Why don't you leave APC alone to conduct their primaries the way they want? if they like let them kill themselves to produce a candidate. And let your ADC also conduct their primaries and rig themselves out if they like. This reply is for the benefit of those that will stumble on gibberish you put up there to let them know you mistakenly 'put mouth' in what you can't comprehend and now you are struggling to make it make sense. We learn every day |
OredoPikin2:Do you know what primaries is? or are you saying Obi and Atiku are rascals? APC can decide to 'annoint' a candidate without doing any election how does that stop ADC from conducting free and fair election within? You sef try reason where you talk reach na. We learn every day |
OredoPikin2:Just to quickly point something out though. It is not Tinubu that will conduct primaries for ADC or any other party for that matter. That clause just gave somebody like Peter Obi a fighting chance in ADC primaries (which in my own opinion, intentional on the part of Tinubu, he wants Obi to win the primaries so ADC can scatter), if ADC now decides to rig the election of their own primaries as you are insinuating that is what happens when you do direct primaries, is it that party we should now trust with national election? Na why I say e be like say you nor know wetin dey sup be that. nor vex We learn every day |

EasternActivist:Have you heard of the phrase "anything you say will be used against you in the court of law"? There is no evidence greater than self confession, especially when done willingly without coercion, watched live by millions of people. We learn every day |
El Rufai with his unguarded statement might have actually given the government enough reason to drag him in and out of court till the next election. We learn every day |
ibechris:hmm, the last time I checked the North Central was having 6 states. And you happen to be living in 6 states so that makes you authority on the happenings in the region. We learn every day |
cosse:I am for electronic transmission too. But one thing most of those people shouting Tinubu is afraid don't know is that this changes nothing in terms of rigging, in fact, you might have played easily into the hands of APC for them to perfect the rigging. 1. In terms of it changes nothing: Will electronic transmission stop ballot snatching? will it prevent thugs disenfranchising some people? Will it stop them intimidating the local electoral officer on ground through bribe or forced to post a wrong result? and finally, will it stop a very simple code being written backdoor to do adjustments behind the scene before displaying online? 2. In terms of playing into the hands of APC: Now that everybody has shouted that it is live transmission or nothing. When one or all the methods of rigging above would have been done and APC wins you won't be able to talk again because you got what you fought for. Imagine the result sheet in a polling unit signed by the agents having APC 10, PDP 50, and ADC 20 but on the live transmission you are seeing APC 100, PDP 5, and ADC 2, wetin you go come do? go to court? and argue what? that they should follow the manual one, when you already fought that it's electronic you want. People should be careful what they wish for. Electoral integrity goes beyond electronic transmission of results. We learn every day |
princeade86:Supreme court has clarified the English and that holds. The constitution is above electoral act which is what they are working on. If you want to change that aspect you are referring to it means full constitution amendment of that portion. As it stands, Abuja is like the 37th state of the federation, people living in Abuja are no more special than people living in a rural village that their votes will hold more power. The mention of Abuja in the constitution is just to let you know that you can count Abuja as part of your two third criteria aka 25% from 25 states before being declared president We learn every day |
ariesbull:You should take the criticism as a positive one to improve. If you did not mention Guinness world record in your write up no one will ask you about it. Your heading should have been something like "Sanwo Olu hosts talented autistic Kanyeyachukwu. Good reportage dictates that the mentioning of Guinness world record which is a major qualifier in this case mandates you to mention what he is a world record holder in. We learn every day |

chipet67:Thanks bro. I'm living a wonderful life, what of you, are you? We learn every day |
Arabk25:Excellent question bro. In Africa (Nigeria as a case study) the President brazenly award bogus, padded, nonexistent contracts like this Tinubu government is doing to recoup their money. Some daredevils print money out-rightly like Buhari government did, Some sell government properties to themselves at a token and turn around to be using it to make profit on the citizens like Atiku did. Some use government money to do business, fixed the money to yield more than 100% profit for them while starving the citizens of the infrastructure and development needed like Peter Obi did. Bottom line, the kind of "perfect" politician you are looking for will never be able to get to the position of even climbing the political ladder not to talk of being selected to contest primaries. That 'perfect' politician can even be you, but can you get to that position? or tell me where they expect you to get 30 million Naira to purchase form for ordinary local government chairman. In other parts of the world like USA same, same if not worse. The only difference is that they have institutions in place to checkmate brazen stealing (but they still do 'codedly'). But because of the working institutions even if you will steal it can't be in excess and also certain things to better the lives of the masses you don't have control over you just have to do them. I hope with this my submission I have been able to convince you and not confuse you that ALL politicians in Nigeria are the same. The words 'Saint' and 'Politician' are mutually exclusive. Thank you. We learn every day. |
Arabk25:He could have just floated his own party where he would not need to contest with anybody to get the ticket (just as he has been doing) and see where that leads him. On a serious note, in most countries of the world, it is almost impossible to win a presidential election if you are not from any of the 'big' parties, especially countries with large populations. As popular as Trump is, he dare not contest election as an independent candidate (he would lose woefully) so he still had to bully and buy his way into becoming the GOP candidate. Another fun fact, you cannot win the primaries of any big political party anywhere in the world without spending money, I mean huge money. If you hear the billions Elon Musk and the like spent on Trump's candidacy you go wan faint. You call it bribe there they call it lobbying here. Bottom line, you want to be the president of a big country, you need a big political party with national spread to achieve that. And to be the flag bearer of that big political party you need to spend good money. Anything outside that, you only have 1 or 2% chance of realizing your dream . We learn every day |
