zik4ever:Yes, Saraki emerged unopposed meaning that Lawan stepped down..which further means that APC in a deft move reconciled the warring parties and gave it's support to Saraki..who with PDP's endorsement and his popularity with a significant number of APC senators would have won anyway. APC has once again shown superior political engineering in internal crises management. Let's hope the Nigerian masses get to enjoy the dividends of the new 'change' |
dckelvin:IBO or IGBO..the fact remains about my ethnic heritage..the important thing is that you should get the point am trying to make. Secession is not the solution to our problems. Let's channel our energies towards making Nigeria work...because the same devils dogging us now will still follow Biafra or whatever new name we adopt if we fail to address the issues intrinsically..and i think it will be more constructive to engage people intellectually rather than resort to name calling and insults.. |
dckelvin:Lots of kids on social media!...my young friend, i advise you have a plan for yourself and chart a path for your future in Nigeria. These drumbeats of secession will not get us to the promised land. Forming Biafra or Niger Delta Republic or whatever is not the panacea to our problems. If you think your life will be better in a so-called Biafra republic, i beg you to have a re-think. You will simply find the same crass corruption, ineptitude and impunity like we are currently experiencing. It is the same crooked, shameless and unscrupulous politicians you are going to have, be it in Biafra, Oduduwa republic or anywhere. What we need to do as Nigerians, especially the youths, is to push for greater accountability in governance, the strenghtening of the various national systems and institutions and the enthronement of true federalism (fiscal and all). There is real strenght in the diversity of Nigeria. Let us not open up a pandora's box. By the way, .. I am Ibo from Anambra and was a few years old when the war started.. |
SkyBlue1:Quite on point, my brother. These are the type of sentiments that have bedevilled Nigeria from inception. I am Ibo from Anambra state but cannot agree less with you. What we need right now is a functional government with square pegs in square holes, irrespective of their ethnic or religious affiliations! |
lekkie073:My brother, you're so on point. I can almost visualize your prediction. The whole vicious circle will start all over.. |
Haba..the level of tribal wrangling on Nairaland is really becoming alarming! ..i read that piece and the first thing that struck me was Floyd Mayweather's personality, his spontaniety and addiction to excellence...and all i could think about was how to appropriate such positive habits..and here you all are debating about the ethnicity of his car dealer...when are we going to move beyond these banalities and become more serious minded?...i bow for all of una o... ![]() |
I completely agree..btw how do i contact you babe?.. dickrider: |
Hello babe, how do i reach you? dickrider: |
Hello angel, been keenly folowing you..how do i contact you? dickrider: |
rokiatu:Rokiatu baby, is that you on your profile picture?..that back sure looks real!..me love it.. |
Thank God for democracy. We all have freedom of expression and association and I don't think it's written any where that everybody must protest over anything together. Protest if you want to and leave those who do not want to protest alone. You and your tribe can continue to rule naija forever it will still not make you better than the Igbos. The longest ruling tribe still have the highest poverty and illiteracy level. If you hate the Igbos so much, go 4ck yourself. It will help before your hate eats you alive. |
If you hate the Igbos so much, you can hug the nearest transformer to you or you drink poison, I guess it will cure your hate. This is for all those that hate the Igbos. |
The federal government is clearly flummoxed & at a loss on the next steps to take. This terror storm has been brewing for a long time now. Al-queida and islamic fundamentalism has been on the march across north & sub-saharan Africa for many years but we did nothing to protect ourselves. Now these demons have found safe haven and ready tools in some bloodthirsty beasts up north. Add that to the recurring violence up north and you get a new kind of threat. Fire don jam petrol, obvious result na conflagration. See as bomb they go off for naija like say na Afghanistan It is only a matter of time before the cancer spreads. Let us do what we have to do NOW. Let us stop all the dilly-dallying & prevarication. Lets us convoke a Sovereign National conference. Let us peacefully dissolve this marriage of strange bed-fellows (Soviet style) NOW!!!!!!!!! |
What we need at this juncture is a forum to re-negotiate our continual existence as a country. It is dangerous to keep playing the ostrich. All these debates & recriminations flying about on NL and nation-wide are not new. They always feature after every cycle of MADNESS & WANTONESS and then time passes and we forget, and carry on, until BOOM!!!!!!!! and the cycle continues. This is simply one massacre too many!!! ![]() Urgent & decisive actions needs to be taken NOW!! WE NEED TO CONVOKE A SOVEREIGN NATIONAL CONFERENCE NOW!!!!!! ![]() |
Methinks the NYSC scheme should be restructured into a skill acquisition & empowerment scheme. Let's get real & forget all this bullshit about national unity bla bla bla, it's simply not working!!!!, How many corp members actually serve in other regions?? with all the posting frauds & settlements ![]() The government should, instead, get the graduates into a camp in their various states of origin, for say a month on crash skills acquisition programme (agriculture, IT etc), and afterwards deploy the present humongous NYSC budget as start-up finance for those willing to embrace entrepreneurship & self-employment. People can then take their own fate in their hands and make something of their lives. This, i believe, will greatly reduce dependency on non-existent white collar jobs while vastly cutting down graduate unemployment & boosting job creation in the informal sector of the economy. Having said that, i want to quickly add that the school of thought being canvassed by the likes of Kobojunkie & Ileke-Idi is also pertinent to this discussion. While calling for the restructuring or scrapping of NYSC in its present form, it's very important to state that the unfortunate incidents up north affects a broader spectrum of Many civil servants, students and other Nigerians of southern origin were equally butchered (as in the past) by these blood-thirsty demons. Civil servants, for instance, can be moved to any part of the country in line with national needs and they simply have no choice in this matter. I was transferred to the Zaria flight training school from MMA Ikeja where i worked for seven years before quitting the civil service. Inasmuch as i didn't want to go there at that time, i simply HAD NO CHOICE, It was also a call to national service like that of the corp members. The point is that every Nigerian has the right to live in safety in any part of this country without fear of molestation or assault and it is the job of the federal government to protect these inalienable rights. It is therefore pertinent for us, while condeming these atrocious acts on our hapless youth corpers, to see the bigger picture and do everything necessary to mandate the government to live up to its constitutional responsibility of assuring the security of all Nigerians. A good way to start is by (1) starting a protest mandating the government to ensure that the findings & recommendations of the judicial commission of enquiry does not go the way of others. That everyone found culpable, no matter how highly placed be made to face the full wrath of the law. This will serve as detterent to future would-be agents of death & destruction. (2) Start an agitation for the convocation of a forum, a sovereign national conference, where we can sit down and re-negotiate our future as a people since the contraption called Nigeria is obviously not working. |
@ SAGAMITE, Guy, i really respect your views but you should learn to take things easy!!!! There is really no need for all the vituperation ![]() People musn't see things your way and should be allowed to freely express their opinions; you should be matured enuff to understand & handle that. So STOP trying to bully people with opinions contrary to yours. I suggest you practise your intellectual dictatorship in your house and not here. NL is supposed to be a free forum ![]() |
cap28:? DID THE UN send troops? What did Clinton say when he was asked to send troops to prevent the loss of lives there? do yourself a favour and close that gaping hole u call a mouth before flies take up permanent residence in it. @ CAP, you are right about the motives of the west in interventions like this. We know they are far from altruistic. They are only after the loot from Africa ![]() But i must be quick to point out that the blame is more on our side as Africans. We are simply playing into the hands of these people and giving them reasons to do what they are doing. Remember that the Ivorien elections was witnessed by not only the UN monitoring teams but the AU, ECOWAS and other African independents. Why would they all collude to back Quattara against Gbagbo ![]() Do you sincerely believe that Quattara lost in the north considering the country's north-south anticedents and that northern Ivoriens were coerced by the rebels into voting for him-reasons adduced by Gbagbo for the cancellation of the half a million votes from that region ![]() You should also remember that the head of the so-called Ivorien council that announced Gbagbo's victory was a personal friend of his. What Gbagbo should have done, as a statesman and a nationalist, was to step down and hand over to the winner instead of choosing to play politics with the lives of millions of Ivoriens. He could also have sought a political solution via all the channels open to him before now. Therein lies the bane of leadership in Africa; our leaders place their base & parochial self interests above national priorities. That's why the likes of Ghaddafi & Mugabe still struggle to remain in charge after decades of being in power. Even where they have performed above board (like Libya), are they the only ones fit to rule in countries with millions of people??, are they operating fiefdoms ?That is why the west will always have excuses to barge in and disgrace us as we are currently experiencing in Cote d'voire. , and for the records, the Rwandans were never colonised by France. It was first the Germans and then the Belgians, and please, educate me on how the French instigated the Rwandan genocide ? |
Abeg make un a leave Dora alone!!! ![]() Its too early for speculations and name calling. Let's wait for more info on the matter before we start throwing stones. This is however a healthy development for the Nigerian democracy. Congratulations to all nigerians ![]() It is indeed the dawn of a new era! |
The Ivory coast issue is indeed multi-faceted & Gbagbo's arrest is no panacea for problems bedevilling that country. In fact, i fear the wahala has probably just begun!!! ![]() Peace obviously won't be returning to that country any time soon as the bulk of the Gbagbo's Southern Ivorien supporters will definitely make things difficult for Quattara. Having said that, it is important to point out that the motives & role of the french in the whole fiasco (albeit under UN mandate) is very far from altruistic. It is indeed a big shame on Africa that several decades after colonialism, we still willingly present ourselves for such blatant neo-colonialism ![]() African leaders should learn to do what is right for Africa, above base personal interests and stop giving the Sarkozy's of this world an excuse to despoil mama Africa again and again! ![]() When are we gonna learn!!!!!!!!!! ![]() ![]() ![]() ??I dey vex o!!!!!!!! ![]() |
tjskii:My name na John, my papa name na Thomas, Hope that answers your question ![]() @ poster, if she holds your happy Johnson, abeg grab her grinning Felicia ![]() Afterall it takes two to tango! ![]() |
Why should the PDP detonate bombs in INEC office? ![]() How does it stand to benefit from the fall-out? ![]() Those that promised nigerians a reign of anarchy if GEJ contests should be investigated!! ![]() The answer to the riddle may not be far from there, ![]() May the souls of the hapless corp members on assignment for their fatherland RIP |
iv4real:God bless you Ivy,, the likes of Silva & Uduaghan are embezzling hundreds of millions in Bayelsa and MEND no see dem o! ![]() The local govt. chairmen saddled with grass-root development are acquiring real estates, choice cars and generally flexing but MEND no see dem. ![]() They have failed to realise that charity begins from home and they must hold their own leaders accountable before taking the fight outside!! It is on record that Delta, Rivers & Bayelsa states are the three richest states in this country in that order (from 13% derivation perspective), What do these states have to show for all the billions of oil money received from Santa, sorry!, FG , and how many of their kleptomaniac governors have fallen under MEND's hammer![]() They've better change their strategy and clean their augean stable first before blowing all this hot air!, , MEND's spokesperson Gbomo Jomo , i see Henry Orkar has been forgotten and life has moved on, the fortunes of war!, ,poor guy! ![]() |
Guy, wetin u dey yarn? ![]() How Abidjan international airport wateva take connect wt GEJ & the post-poned naija elections ![]() E be like say you need drink garri with 'Paraga', then go crash, am sure u will feel beta aferwards, ![]() |
(1) Both stars are big in their different genres of music, so they tie on this point. (2) Dbanj/Snoop's video was full of the normal mo' hits records bling but i prefer Sound Sultan's. (3) Lyrical content goes to Sultan, So, i think Sultan / Wyclef takes the cake! ![]() |
