How is a personal statement different from a statement of purpose?
Although most graduate programs require a statement of purpose, a few will ask for a personal statement instead, yet some schools will request both.

A statement of purpose places a narrative to your achievements to demonstrate that you have prepared for success in your graduate studies. On the other hand, a personal statement draws from your personal and professional experiences to explain how you have come to the decision to pursue a graduate education in your field of interest. In addition, your personal statement can be used to give admissions committees a sense of who you are as a person, including any obstacles you’ve had to overcome, explanations of your less-than-ideal academic record, and contributions you’ve made to your community.

If you are asked for a statement of purpose and personal statement, you should reserve information about your personal journey and hardships for your personal statement and discuss career-related experiences and academic accomplishments in your statement of purpose.

Note: If you’ve written a statement of purpose, you can easily modify it into a personal statement for programs and fellowships that ask for one and not the other.

Why you want to go to graduate school

How you’ve prepared for graduate studies

What field and specific area you intend to study and why (Ph.D. in History with a focus on the Nigeria Revolution).

Why you’ve chosen University of X for your studies (specific offerings, resources, faculty).

q) Apart from work and education, what are your hobbies, interests, and habits?
r) What are you like, as a person (state your past experience, passion and interest)?
s) What do you understand about our student community and culture?
t) What conviction do you possess regarding this program?
u) What is that one unique aspect/characteristic about you that should known?
v) Why does it matter to us or to the fellow students of your class?

I will begin by introducing what SOP really is, and why it is important to your visa application.

The full form of SOP is “Statement of Purpose”.

SOP simply means stating your purpose for your student visa application.

Visa SOP (Statement of Purpose) is all about sharing your experiences and giving a firm statement and/or a reason why you are eligible for any particular country where you want to study. So, my experiences and your experiences and reasons won’t be the same as yours and vice versa.

A statement of purpose is an essay that summarizes your past work and preparation for further studies. It lays out your most important experiences (jobs, internships, apprenticeships, teaching) and accomplishments (publications, presentations, grants, exhibitions, speaking engagements) with the goal of getting you into your first-choice further program.

Whereas strong grades and test scores are the foundation of your application and are necessary to be considered at top programs, your experiences are what set you apart. Therefore, the goal with your statement of purpose is to organize and present your academic journey in a way that convinces the top institutions’ admissions committees that you are perfect for their program.

. Shit happens in life , my elder sister did her ond, she was about to do her hnd and needed to present the ond certificate, she was told she wasn't recognized as a student all this while, can u imagine?? My mum almost fainted , we were all unhappy, we all encouraged big sis and rallied round her with love, big sis picked up herself, did jamb again, and got admission into Unilag, she graduated last year....and is doing very well now, so atimes this things happen, we have to be strong and optimistic.....shit happens

I stay with him at school cuz am having issues with my admission didn't want to go home cuz I will keep reminding my parents of the huge amount of money they wasted. I love this guy very much I don't joke with him and am a very good cook so I love cooking for people to eat, he cooks too so he is this kind of person that likes bragging about what he can do, so at times I ignore him. But what he did today is really painful. He was sick so I decided to make moi moi for us(with his sister) was washing d beans then he came to the kitchen, started telling me how I should have washed d beans(Wai I shud select d shafts first before pouring water) I was like it's still d same thing then I complained to the sister and she had to tell him (oga na dsame thing) I continued 4rm where I stopped (I was already provoked) but I didn't shout later I trekked to the market to grind the beans came back (mixed the stuff, started cooking) he was like it will take 40 minutes to cook I didn't talk.
I went to sit waiting for the moi moi to get ready within a while he came oooh (my name) it's ready ooo so I stood up didn't want to argue with him went straight to the kitchen brought the stuff down, removed them from the hot pot. Guess what the moi moi didn't cook well, he said is because I didn't put them well. (note) it's not my first time of cooking moi moi in the house ooo, so I got angry I swear the thing pained me then I told him to stop telling me what to do in d kitchen that I don't like it (it's annoying) pls stop he was like he will slap me we exchanged words. Right now am pained cuz it's not the first time he doing this he does strange things that I can't even say. His cousin came last time he was telling her how cooks very well Wai have she tasted his food before a guy for that matter, which one is dragging with ur girlfriend who cooks better than the other

Moremi Soyinka trained as a lawyer and lived abroad until ex-President Obasanjo invited her home. Since coming back to Nigeria, she has worked under Obasanjo, Yar'adua and Jonathan administrations. Now, she has been called to work for Buhari administration. She must be competent in what she does to be this relevant. Obviously as an accomplished professional and experienced public administrator, this appointment has nothing to do with her father.
