creolehunt: It is a private limited company with me and my spouse as only directors and only signatories to account. Should I want to use this company account as POF, would I need any further document other than the CAC ones?
Thanks in anticipation Hi Creolehunt,
In your case, the board resolution letter is optional. I would recommend the following documents:
1. CAC certificate 2. CAC Status Report form (the file that shows the board of directors and shareholders). 3. Bank reference letter confirming you both as the only signatories to your corporate bank account.
Better still, just transfer the fund to your personal account and attach your corporate account and personal account statements to the application. However, exploring this option might bid you to explain the lumpsum in your SOP or LOE.
Wishing you good luck with your application.

creolehunt: Hello. Good day. This your response struck a chord for me.
If I own a company with my spouse and want to use the company account as POF, would we still need Board Resolution? Hi Creolehunt,
The necessity of a board resolution letter is contingent on the category of your business registration. If it's a sole proprietorship, for example, you might not need a board resolution letter. The CAC Status Report form and business certificate, accompanied with a bank reference letter confirming you as a sole signatory to your corporate account, would be just fine.
Contrarily, if you operate a private limited company, for instance, you might have directors and shareholders that need to be carried along in every decision. Thus, you will most likely need a board resolution letter to convey their consents and collective decisions to sponsor you to the VO.
Please let me know if you have any other questions.

Crystalgirl: Guys please, is a reference letter from the school you attended required for a study permit application even though the person has over 10years working experience? Hi Crystalgirl,
Reference letter is not a mandatory requirement for a study permit application. In most cases, it is often demanded by universities for postgraduate admission assessments. However, I believe you passed that stage and have your LOA already, so you might not need a reference letter for IRCC to process your study permit.
Wishing you good luck with your submission.

Nomsooooo: Hello please I’d love to hear from one or two guru’s on here I did apply to a university in Texas for a bachelors degree in computer science . I graduated from university here in Nigeria in 2021 with computer science and I’m currently employed working in IT Please do you think it’ll be seen as a red flag for me during my interview which is coming up in July as against resumption in August . Also to add I’m 23 Hi Nomsooooo,
Your gut feeling isn't entirely on the wrong side of right. A deliberate decision to spend thousands of dollars to earn a degree that's somewhat equal and identical to the one you currently possess isn't particularly logical.
Why not just pursue a master's degree in a related field?
Wishing you the best of luck.

Hi OTSAMUEL,
Your friend's situation is common when a unique client identifier (UCI) is not submitted in a subsequent application, especially when the application is transmitted from a new or different account.
You don't need to panic. Once his background check starts running or before it's completed, IRCC will correct the errors and link his existing biometric to the new application.
Wishing him good luck.

Yes, shares or stocks can be presented as POF. However, in your case, you might need a board resolution letter attesting to your sponsorship and a written statement from your office's broker emphasizing the rights to liquidate the stock without any restrictions.
Meanwhile, don't you think a third-party sponsorship for a family of 4 with a financial portfolio of less than 200,000 USD seems unbelievable? Doesn't that cover a significant portion of the company's liquid assets? Or, do you own the business?
Good luck with your application.

Sponsorships from parents are not classified as third party financing. Your parents can choose to support you if they can demonstrate their resourcefulness to do so. However, you can declare yourself as co-sponsor, depending on your financial luxuriance.
In a nutshell, if your parent is your only ace in the hole, please go ahead and click on that Submit button. The VO cannot deny your application primarily on that.
Have a wonderful day!

How to Choose the Right School for a Postgraduate Program When it comes to choice of school, some individuals consider this as an herculean task, and that is why it could be hard to answer the “Why this school?” question, when standing in front of that beast of a VO.
As usual, I will be brief while giving out my tips.
You are welcome to ask your questions as we proceed.
STEP 1 Search for the best set of schools in your field: There are numerous prestigious schools around the world, but each is known for the quality of students it produces (in a particular discipline or more). Now, before choosing an institution that you want to invest your precious time and money into, you should crosscheck it to know if it really worth it. Go on the internet, and then research about its exploit in your field. A website such as https://www.usnews.com is a good tool.
Step 2 Check the cost: There is this saying, “Soup wey sweet, na money kill am.” Meaning, something good costs money. The next thing after listing out the schools that are in line with your goal is to check the tuition to see if you are capable of affording them. If you can’t, there is option of financial aid, especially if you have good academic qualifications. Contact financial aid immediately! Inquire!
STEP 3 Check and confirm you meet each of the school’s academic qualification: This is quite straightforward. Visit the school’s admission eligibility page to see if you meet its admission requirements. Don’t waste application fee!
STEP 4 Apply: You are wondering if it is that simple? Of course, yes, it is as simple as that. Go ahead and apply to that school of your interest, and then follow up with the undergraduate or graduate admission office via phone call or email.
I have taken out of my valuable time to write this short piece, in order to guide someone out there, and I hope you will find this useful.
I wish that somebody a good kind of luck.

DorcasTobi: Hello everyone, I applied for a student visa on the 7th of February this year but I have not been given a response yet. I tried calling IRCC, after several attempts that took over 3 days I was finally able to talk to an agent who told me that my application is in the Canadian branch in Kenya. I called the branch in Kenya but it turns out that study visa applicants are not allowed to talk to agents but I sent 2 emails but I have not been given a reply yet. Is there any way that any of you can be of assistance to me, maybe by giving me an email or number I can call for assistance because I have already been given full admission to Uottawa which is supposed to resume on the first of September and my parents want to buy a ticket before the prices increase.
Thank you and I look forward to your reply. Hi DorcasTobi,

I requested for GCMS that was how I got to know about when they started working on my application. I already moved my resumption to January. Got a LOA update mail and medical request this year. I submitted a new LOA from the same school and same course and my medicals was updated to pass April 2022. I am supposed to resume this September but no update yet. I saw a ghost update last month ending and got a mail stating they would finalize before my resumption date. Till date nothing. I dont know wetin to do again. I cant move the admission again. If you received a ghost update late last month after MR and a request for valid LOA, then there's nothing to be disturbed about. You have a considerable chance of getting PPR before your enrollment deadline. |

stsoul: Thank you so much SOP for taking time to even address my question. Its quite a different job description for a Risk Manager in telecoms compared to a Risk Manager in a Financial institution.
In telcoms we deal with postpaid line credit limit & over shooting, debts, payment on the line, activation of lines, roaming facilities etc. But in Financial institutions its slightly different.
I hope you have a view of what am saying.
Regards I had no idea of your employer's telecommunication sub-sector but if the above are your duties, then the suggestions I made earlier are still the top choices for you. It is now your responsibility to assess each program's curriculum and verify if they meet your needs.
Moreover, everything you mentioned above are still founded on the Principles of Finance except for the technical aspects which are often covered during new employee trainings.
I hope you eventually find the right program.
Good luck |

On the other hand, a PGDip in Cyber Security if your duties encompass more of network administration. |

Solacul: Good Day Nairalanders
I have been a silent reader all along, but it is time to cry out as my mind is failing.....
I would appreciate it if I could get advice on the challenges I have at hand.
I was offered admission at the Centennial College in Ontario for the Fall term of 2022. I have made part payment of my tuition as requested by the school.
I forwarded my study VISA application sometime in April and went for Biometrics on May 5 2022.
I did not submit an upfront medical. POF submitted was 11.3m plus other required documents
This week will make my application precisely 12 weeks and Nothing has been heard.
I applied for another programme in the UK also for September 2022 also. My major aim is to leave Nigeria latest first week of September 2022.
I have been given admission in the UK at York St John University to be precise. I am yet to make a commitment about the tuition and yet to apply for VISA as I am a bit curious not to make a wrong decision.
I want Nairalanders to advise me if I should go ahead to make a commitment to York St John. The part payment for the tuition is about 5600pounds.
My Questions are 1. Is it advisable for me to pay for the tuition while I still await the response from the Canadian Embassy? 2. Will York St John refund me the tuition if eventually, I get a positive response from Canada? 3. If the Canadian embassy's response eventually comes in while I am already in the UK, can I still continue the application process in the UK to leave the UK for Canada?
I would appreciate elites on this forum to assist in giving advice as I am currently dying out of endless waiting. 1 & 2. Refunds are often processed with respect to timing, contracts, and circumstances. Moreover, the majority of schools will not fulfill a refund request from a potential international student if it's void of documentation that evinces an unsuccessful visa application. If I have any advice for you, then that would be due diligence on your end concerning your proposed institutions' refund policies. They will pilot you to an apt decision.
3. Of course, yes! |

sheyi69: Yooo
I've been largely a lurker here but I garnered enough information to do it myself. I just got my PPR on my 3ed attempt. Timeline:
1st Application: October 10 2020, very lame application. Was overconfident after applying to the US and UK myself without rejections. Didn't do my homework properly. Had 3 grounds for rejection including: - Poor relationship with sponsor (Uncle without the same last name) - Unreasonable study plan - Purpose of visit
2nd Application: May 28 2021. Mitigated all but one of the officer's concerns. The officer had concerns that my sponsor's (mum) account had lump deposits. To be honest, they don't understand how a typical business person in Nigeria runs their account.
3rd Application: February 18 2022. Decided to leave no stone unturned. Paid the rest of the tuition and purchased a GIC. Then a really long wait. Started to stress my MP's office, which was of immense help. Got an ADR for another medical examination on June 10th. Exactly one year after the previous medical examination expired. Medical passed June 30th. PPR this morning.
Overview of successful application: Submitted on new portal February 18 2022 Medical request June 10th PPR July 21st.
Can't wait to leave Congratulations! |

As we journey through 2022, please remember to be deliberate about your applications. They should be as straight as an arrow. If a complication is unavoidable, please trivialise it by attaching a clear and concise note. You do not have to hire anyone to process your application or draft your "note". I am elated that you made it to 2022. Last year was great for some of us, but I am confident that the new year will be greater for all of us.
To the pioneers of this thread, please accept my gratitude. You guys are the real MVP.
In this new year, please do not underestimate the power of rehearsal and crosschecking. You can post your transcripts on this thread to be assessed from multiple perspectives. Similarly, close friends or family members can also be helpful. Interview yourselves out loud. You might view this as a form of madness, but it's just a temporal yet rewarding insanity that would only last a few weeks.
Lastly, avoid travel agencies that could possibly earn you a ban or complicate your application/profile this new year. U.S. Embassies and Consulates ban hundreds of applicants every week, so let's be careful.
Happy New Year to you and your respective families. Let the testimonies begin to flow! |

Anon123: When you fill your immm forms, its expected you fill the correct information. If you tick you are going with your family, its expected you are to to apply with them but if you dont, you are obviously going to be denied because you are trying to mislead the vo That applicant's experience was not orchestrated by the student's IMM 5645E or IMM 5406E. Rather, the VO was referring to his SOP/LOE. The subject must have affirmed his family's presence in Nigeria for the duration of his program. His family is his tie to Nigeria! You cannot indicate that you have a Visa Dependent when there's none. The Family Information Form, on the other hand, has to include your family details, even if they won't accompany you. Therefore, the applicant in question is acquitted of misinformation. He filled his forms correctly!
Now, should we stop using our families as ties? The answer is a CAPITAL NO! Instead, you should give an account, in your Spousal Open Work Permit LOI/SOP, for the change of plan. @LuckyMama, ask the poster to give genuine grounds for the recent development. She should not just apply for SOWP because she's qualified! She needs to justify her application! |

heydamiejay: LONG POST ALERT
MARCH 2021 i got conditional offer from centennial college to study human resource management (pgd) i took a pause for 5months because i did not have enough money to pay for my deposit to get the proper admission letter (LOA), and also i did not have any means to to get proof of funds for visa application .so i had a friend who i said i could use his account he is into construction ,he had a balance of 20million but he wont be able to transfer the money to my account cos it is for his work.i remember asking a guru here if its possible to use a friends account and he was like 3rd party is not guarantee but nothing is impossible.so i took faith and use the account ,the worst will be a rejection and i will re strategize for my next application .i did not pay any deposit required by the school i just went ahead to use the admission deposit letter to apply.
As at when i applied in july 31 the statement of i used was 2moths late,it was not recent it was printed as at June 2nd ,i did not know the statement of account to be use has to be printed few days to your application to show its recent ,but i had already submitted my application.
my sop was just one page very scattered ,i wrote the wrong passport number in my sop .when i was addressing my sponsor i just wrote he is my uncle i did not add any picture or documents to prove relationship ,my home ties i said i had my mum and my dad back home to come back to . After 3moths and 2weeks i decided to send a web form to remind ircc that i need a decision to know my next step in life.i sent the web form like 2ce, after then i just got feed up and i stopped checking, maybe because i have not even paid any school fee that might even be the reason for delay ,i paid for gcms notes with @mekano i was even reluctant to send my details ,he called to follow up for my details till now i have not still sent it cos i gave up on the application. 3rd week of November i decided to check my account but i could not access it ,it continued like that for over a week ,last friday i just decided to try it on another browser and behold it was original passport request(PPR) it dropped since on the 7th of December but saw it on the 10th,mind you my phone screen is bad so i did not have access to my mail i tried opening it on my system but was giving me plenty authentication wahala i just left it .
when i saw the ppr i ran out of my office was jubilation on the street telling my mum the good news .the lord did it when i was almost giving up no school fee paid ,no plenty documents submitted i used a total outsiders account for proof of fund ,all indication was against me but he turned it around for me for good .thank you Lord, i pray this favor goes round
Admission -march 2021 centennial college
APPLICATION -July 31 2021 Documents submitted *DEPOSIT ADMISSION LETTER *Application form *dob certificate *NYSC CERT *Transcript and certificate(AUTHENTICATED BY MOE &FOREIGN AFFAIRS) *PROOF OF FUNDS *SOP *UPFRONT MEDICAL upfront medical -august 23 2021
medical updated to pass -September 13 2021
web form sent - November 11 2021

THE LORD DID IT . This is quite a spectacular case. I often advise applicants to invest what's attainable while they hope for the best. A former VO once told me that he picked an interest in a certain applicant because they share a first name. Sometimes, the Visa Officer's perception of you speaks louder than your bulky documents. I'm sure your study permit wasn't mistakenly approved. You made a great impression in one way or the other.
Congratulations! I pray for a similar favour for other applicants.
