Politics / I'll Appoint Tech Innovation Officer & Establish Technology Bank - Sowore by sowore2019: 2:58pm On Jun 29, 2018
Presidential aspirant Omoyele Sowore on Monday told traders at Computer Village, Ikeja, Lagos, that he would establish a technological bank that will see to the funding of technological innovations when he becomes President.

During a meeting with the traders of the technology hub in Ikeja, Sowore said that in less than five years, the world would no longer be dependent on oil, as technological innovation like solar are taking over the scope of affairs.

He lamented that while there are development banks that invest in agriculture and other sectors, technicians do not easily get access to funds. He noted that if there was a technology bank, creators would be inspired to develop technological products that will promote technological advancement.

Urging traders at the market to take advantage of the growing technology of the world, he said: "Very soon, the cost of oil is not going to last any more. I give you five years, not many people will be driving a car with petrol any more. It will be driven by solar panel cell, by electricity; some will just be driven by things that are just software.”

The human rights activist, whose online news platform Sahara Reporters has disrupted Nigerian media, advised the traders to take a cue from Teslar, an American organization that deals in electrical vehicles.

He expressed so much belief in the potential of Computer Village and said he looked forward to a future where Nigerians would boast of made-in-Nigeria mobile phones and computers. He reiterated that “anybody who is not thinking futuristically now will end up in oblivion in a matter of years”.

He acknowledged that technicians in Computer Village are very smart and intelligent, but their input in the growth of the economy is not recognized by the government.

He promised that when he becomes President, he would change the face of computer village and also ensure that university students are incorporated into the tech hub to learn from the very best in the computer sector.

Speaking further Sowore said although he was in support of indigenes of Niger Delta controlling their resources, he does not “want a situation where you control your resources and you create an Ibori; you control your resources and you produce an Alamieyeseigha. These are just criminals."

After the meeting, Sowore, alongside the Chairman of Computer & Allied Products Dealers Association of Nigeria (CAPDAN), Ojikutu Ahmed, and some executives of the aasociation took a tour of Computer village, the largest ICT hub in West Africa.

Politics / Sowore2019 Takeitback Revolution: What Is It About, How And Where Do I Come In? by sowore2019: 5:23pm On Jun 24, 2018
I have been talking to people about TiB Movement, some in diaspora and others back home. I found out that they are all very excited and enthused about the idea and the Movement, but some still have the questions in the title of this piece which is not out of place.

The TakeitBack ideology is clear, easy to understand, and acceptable by all who can see and agree that Nigeria is a failed state. We are saying – it is time for Nigerian youths to take our country back from the hands of the old politicians who have inherited our country, share it amongst themselves, their families and cohorts, and are bent on looting Nigeria to extinction.

It is time for the youth to take up leadership seats and steer the affairs of our country where the old and analogue politicians with pre-independence mentality have failed. It is time to put an end to the politics of the old, by the old and for the old. Those with disreputable, outdated worldviews cannot lead a progressive, digital generation. It is time to put an end to politics of the cabals, for the cabals and by the cabals. Those with corrupt mind sets can never build a healthy nation. ‘Antiquitocracy’ and ‘cabalocracy’ have set our country back by decades.

TiB is a clarion call to all Nigerian youths to arise, join hands and let us take our nation back from the current state of nature. Be a part of this history, do not be an observer. Breathe TakeitBack, talk TakeitBack and action TakeitBack. Create awareness and call on others on every digital platform and/or with boots on the ground down to the grassroots, town to town, village to village, door to door; let somebody talk to somebody and people talk to people about this new dawn and Nigeria’s second independence – TakeitBack.

What is the approach? Your TakeitBack strategy is simple:

1. The Revolutionary Idea:
Create awareness of this emancipation movement which is about taking back Nigeria from the hands of the old politicians who have destroyed our country and held it back from making progress.

2. The People’s Power:
Sensitise our people to go out and get their PVCs – the people’s power to deliver and take back Nigeria. 2019 election is putting liberation power in our hands again let us not give power back to old time rogues and stay enslaved matching backwards for another 4 years. Get your PVC and talk to people you know to do the same. It is one thing to register for PVC; it is another thing to collect it, so request people if possible to demonstrate evidence of their PVC collection.

3. The Candidate for Liberation and National Turn-Around:
Tell people and let them know about Sowore as the candidate for 2019 presidential election. Our movement intends to restore power to the people in 2019, starting with the election of the leader and convener of our movement, Omoyele Sowore as President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

4. You Are Needed in Office:
Register your interest in contesting for office under TakeItBack Platform in 2019 (http://sowore2019.org/members/). We intend to sweep the Nigerian political landscape with a new set of leaders from the Presidency, to State Governors, Senate, Federal House of Representatives, State Houses of Assembly, LGA Chairpersons and LGA Ward Councillors.

When Sowore gets into office, his hands would need the hands of capable Nigerian youths at home and in diaspora to revive and lift Nigeria up again, not the crime smudged hands that strangled the Giant of Africa into coma. Leading Nigeria out of its current dungeon and reconstructing the nation we envision cannot be the exclusive job of Sowore any more than playing a symphony is the exclusive responsibility of the conductor. As with an orchestra, many people, functions and talents must emerge to execute a vision. We must all respond.

This is our movement and our aluta. It is our match for Nigeria’s second freedom. We are doing today what others did not do yesterday so that we and posterity will have tomorrow what we do not have today. We are fighting today for a better tomorrow, we do not want to mourn tomorrow that we missed today’s opportunity to do what is right. Nigerian youths arise and take it back.

Our program to tackle the herdsmen crisis could be found on page 14 of our manifesto

Politics / Buhari Government “borrows” Yet Another Idea From Sowore’s Manifesto by sowore2019: 6:50pm On Jun 20, 2018
Our attention has been drawn to the Federal Government’s announcement that they now believe that commercial cattle ranches are an absolute necessity, if the lingering Farmer – Herdsmen conflicts are to be comprehensively resolved.

After 3 years of pushing ill-informed and silly programs such as the creation of cattle colonies, importation of grass from Brazil and establishment of grazing corridors, the Buhari government is now coming around to a position that our movement took months ago and have articulated extensively in our Manifesto for Growth.

We are beginning to see a pattern. When we recommended a higher pay for workers and youth corpers, the Buhari government and its agents claimed that it would lead to massive inflation. They have now embraced that idea. When we called for June 12 to be made democracy day, they latched on to it believing they could score cheap political points from that action. Now they have also “borrowed” another idea from our programs.

We are glad to note that the Buhari government is now keenly aware that it has failed Nigerians. Unfortunately, stealing ideas in the third year of a failed four-year term will not help them in any way.

Sowore Meets Herdsmen and Farmers in Core Northern Nigeria

Under the scorching sun rays, herdsmen clustered around Presidential Aspirant, Mr Omoyele Sowore in Taraba and Adamawa states on Monday as the young, charismatic former students’ leader discussed the future of grazing and climate change with the young Fulani men.

Sowore took the bull by the horns, emerging as perhaps one of Nigeria’s most striking and unusual personalities to have risen to challenge a decadent status quo that for decades has kept millions of Nigerians trampled and exhausted.

Fulani herdsmen have had violent clashes with farmers in what local and international observers describe as the most recurrent violence in Africa’s biggest country of 170 million people.

“I’m here as a presidential aspirant that listens to all shades of opinion. I’m here to listen to fears and aspirations so that together we can make Nigeria great again,” Sowore told the herdsmen after he had pulled his convoy aside to interact with the suntanned cattle herders.
One of the herdsmen who spoke in Fulbe said he was excited that “someone from the other part of the country has shown interest in listening to our own story.”

A campaign official narrated the encounter to Irohin Oodua. The official said Sowore asked the knotty question if the herdsmen would love to have ranches with grass and water as a substitute to wandering for thousands of miles for green fortunes.

The herdsmen were said to be excited by the idea that would help them avoid clashes and at the same time find solutions to the cows’ needs.

Sowore has been on a weeklong campaign tour of Northern Nigeria where he has been meeting with mostly young people who represent not less than 60 percent of the Nigerian voting population. Though the activist is yet to pick a platform, consultations are currently being held with him by other political parties who appear to be enthralled by the magic and electric impact his campaigns have continue to stir.

Politics / Omoyele Sowore Meet Fulani Herdsmen & Farmer In Mayo Belwa Adamawa State - VIDEO by sowore2019: 9:12am On Jun 19, 2018
ADAMAWA, YOLA: I met both herdsman and farmer. I stopped to speak with them and ask if they would love to have ranches with grass and water in place of wandering with their herds on people's properties and causing endless clashes with farmers across the country.

The idea sounded so good to Umaru that he wished it could happen for him and his cattle business IMMEDIATELY!

I keep saying that this country's problems are not rocket science, and, if they are, then I must be a rocket scientist. These people must step down and let you, agile brains have a go at TURNING NIGERIA AROUND! 90% of our problems will disappear on their own!

Politics / Sowore: How We Stopped The Military From Burying Abiola In 1998 by sowore2019: 7:04am On Jun 12, 2018
In 1998 after the “sudden death” of Bashorun Moshood Kashimawo Olawale Abiola’s the winner of the June 12 1993 election, a group of young people massed at his residence, Ikeja Lagos primarily to prevent the military from attending and conducting his burial. It was a great battle as some members of Chief Abiola’s family felt our siege was bad for business.

However, we stood our ground insisting that nothing but a critical mass movement that had been the vanguard of the revalidation of the annulled election be allowed to conduct the historic burial. I stood in for thousands of of Nigerian youths at Abiola’s residence to deliver a speech announcing the burial of the Nigerian military and their brand of murderous politics. On this day, twenty years later, Nigerian youths will be holding a historic event in and around Chief Abiola’s house to mark June 12 as “Democracy Day.”

It is time once again to bury the murderous old guards at the helm of affairs in Nigeria.
It is Time to end the leadership of robbery, corruption, nepotism, fascism, inertia, incompetence, wickedness and selfishness!

kingzizzy:
The reason why Sowore will be a disasterous President just l8ke Buhari is that he is hoping to give what cannot be given.

Sowore thinks that the problem with Nigeria bad leadership. What he is yet to understand and probably never accept is that Nigeria is a bad union. The unity of Nigeria is so bad that even if you resurrected Sister Theresa from the dead and asked her to rule Nigeria justly, equitably and fairly, she would fail badly, and this is a Saint.

What Durotoye thinks is fairness might be see as nepotism in the East, what Sowore thinks is equity might be seen as Impunity in the North. What Moghalu thinks is "vision" might be seen as "nightmare" in the West. What Sowore thinks is good governance might seen as bad governance in the south.

Sowore, Moghalu, Durotoye and all these 'new kids on the block' had better understand that although Buhari is a terrible leader, there is no point coming to be worse than him.

The unity of Nigeria is a disasterous one that allows nothing to be good. So unless they have a plan on how to rectify the non existent unity of Nigeria, they will all end up as every other Nigerian head of state, a failure

I understand your point and Sowore does as well, the truth is that these set of leaders are the ones that geared our orientation and thinking in that way. They made us to believe that we are different by tribes and religious, but you and I understand there is no difference in our problems and the suffering, which all Nigeria undergo.

If there is no power in Lagos, it won't only affect the Yoruba's or Igbo, every other tribes who stay in Lagos will feel it as well. Same in health, transportation and other sector. But when it comes to looting, tribes and religion is no longer applicable. These people who are pro of their individual tribes own properties in other tribes territory. They were able to successfully entrench those message through government control media and communication outfit which rein supreme then. But you know what, the tides is changing, if not for SM and private broadcast station President Buhari wouldn't have been able to defeat GEJ.

That is why education and enlightenment of young people (who has a larger percentage of literacy) is key, this will be made possible through numerous modern communication channels which are inevitably here to stay. The government understand these, which is why they are trying to gag the social media space.

Within the space of three month the TakeitBack movement has became know nationwide and the supporters are growing everyday. The Take It Back movement believes in the following tenets:

1 That Nigeria is a great nation, blessed with an energetic, creative and intelligent people, as well as with extensive and bountiful natural resources
2 That Nigeria’s religious and ethnic diversity is a source of strength and not a basis for disunity
3 That the Nigerian nation has remained stagnant because of the poor quality of leaders that have ruled the nation at all levels
4 That the rampant corruption that has come to dominate Nigeria’s political space is the result of a political process that is disconnected from the Nigerian people, and a view of leadership that is not about service, but about self aggrandizement
5 That Nigeria’s people have all that it takes to reclaim their nation from the looters that have held our collective national destiny of greatness in check for almost 6 decades.
6 That Nigerians everywhere – regardless of their age, gender, creed, tribe, class or religious affiliation – can realize their full potential without the aid of godfathers and godmothers.

The movement is all about Freedom of second colonization by our leaders, that is why the movement doesn't have any godfathers on which basis many believes it will fail.

Politics / Nigerian Youth! Our Destiny Is In Our Hands: Tell Everyone Hope Is On The Way by sowore2019: 10:31am On Jun 07, 2018
I feel very sad when I hear young Nigerians say they have given up on Nigeria. However, it is so understandable why they have lost hope in the country, given the myriad of attacks they have been made to face by clueless and wicked leaders. I have said it before that so many young people in Nigeria have passports of other Countries in their minds. They have left the country psychologically.

Why won’t they lose hope?!

The Nigerian youth hears about trillions spent on power but he cannot find his shadow.

He reads that Obasanjo spent 16 billion dollars on darkness and Buhari spent 10 billion looking for oil in the North-East. While one; a subset of the ruling class is asking “Where is the power?”, another is asking “Where is the oil?” He knows that for the ruling class, there would never be any consequence for doing wrong. He knows!

He reads on the pages of newspapers how they are recruiting in CBN, only to find out that he is not ’employable’. The ’employables’ are sons of the elite. He was the one who struggled to go to school, thinking he would be educated as a mechanical engineer and therefore employable, only to find out that the equipment in the laboratories are to be pampered, for a lot of them are older than he.

His sister just died as a result of the protracted industrial action of JOHESU. But he also knew of the time when Yusuf Buhari sustained injuries while playing with his friends and was flown to Germany. He has also read how the Aso Rock Clinic, according to the wife of the President, does not have syringes despite the whopping sum of 10.1 billion naira allocated to it in the 3 YEARS OF DEMOCRATIC INTEGRITY. He has asked himself- ‘If the Aso Rock Clinic could be like that, what then is the fate of my relatives and other Nigerians going to LUTH?’

Just last week, his brother was picked by kidnappers-in-uniform because he looks ‘fresh’ and uses an iPhone. He was implicated and sent to prison because he was not ready to ‘bail’ himself. Bail for no offence! He and his family could make an academic paper and deliver an ‘inaugural lecture’ on Police Brutality.

Do not forget that his father is a pensioner but the agents of Maina have made him a ‘penury-er’. And when his uncle and aunt left for Libya and Italy respectively, it was Thanksgiving.

He has been polarised totally from good governance.

His hitherto gentle soul has found succour and peace in drugs and bets.

In all of this, the good news is that all hope is not lost.
Why?

I would not want to go far to show examples of countries where citizens challenged the status quo; nations like Russia, China, USA were very backward than Nigeria. I had shared before, on this platform, a letter written by Great Britain to Nigeria, calling our leaders to a meeting to help the UK. Yes! This same country! Nothing has changed but the quality of leaders emboldened by the relative silence and acquiescence of the followers.

How Can Nigeria Help Britain

The citizens of the aforementioned nations saw the need not to give up and keep complaining. They stood and fought gallantly for the ‘little’ they are enjoying today.

In South Africa, the political activist, Nelson Mandela, was thrown into one of the deadliest prisons for 27 years. Most of us who have given up already are not yet 27 years old.

We have a chance to change the course of history. I am not in the illusion that what would change Nigeria and the society is the Ballot. There is no such thing as a BALLOT REVOLUTION. The only revolution known in history to the best of my knowledge is the SOCIAL REVOLUTION – Cultural/Political.

We must, nevertheless, within this space, explore the electoral means and other means provided by the law as we forge ahead for the greater struggle.

Why not go out today to register for your PVC? Tell your Dad to tell your Mum that hope is on the way. We only can change our destiny because it is in our hands.

Compatriots: Last weekend in Abeokuta, I spoke during a #TakeItBack Town Hall Meeting declaring that henceforth June 12th will become Nigeria’s “Democracy Day”, a few days later President Muhammadu Buhari has made it official via an “Executive Order.” While I understand that this is an election season gimmick to fool ardent supporters of Chief MKO Abiola and activists who seriously fought for the revalidation Of June 12 1993 elections, I accept it as a decent decision. It has partially corrected a historical wrong in Nigeria.
However, this tokenism is not enough, therefore, upon assumption of office next year we will officially declare Chief MKO Abiola winner of the June 12 election, declare him posthumously a President of Nigeria, pay his Presidential salary for 8 years to his family and ensure his family gets pensions, allowances and gratuity due to all former presidents as well as a national reburial.
Finally, all victims of the June 12 struggle will be adequately compensated.

Politics / Omoyele Sowore: ‘Saraki Will Be Jailed When I Become President’ by sowore2019: 8:20pm On May 27, 2018
Omoyele Sowore, publisher of Sahara Reporters and presidential aspirant for the 2019 election, says Senate President Bukola Saraki will be sent to jail and that Kwara will be “liberated”.

Sowore said this on Friday when he visited Ilorin, Kwara state capital, for a town hall meeting.

Saraki is from Kwara state.

Sowore said the number three citizen had turned himself into a “demigod” in the state.

He told the crowd who received him that he would put an end to the politics of godfatherism in Kwara and Nigeria as a whole if he is voted into power.

Sowore said the country would experience a “revolutionary change” in government by 2019.

“We will ensure that Kwara state is liberated from the hand of political godfather who can’t build good roads, schools and infrastructures,” he said.

“I remember last year, this was the same political godfather, Bukola Saraki, that seized our money, that was meant for the SaharaReporters Civic Media Lab, and brought it to Kwara state.

“This same Saraki went to the court to stop us and sent thugs to beat us after bragging he has all the Judges in Kwara state in his pocket.

“Let me use this opportunity to tell him that the money he seized from us would be refunded soon and will be paid with interest while he goes to jail.”

Sowore further said the All Progressives Congress (APC) government has failed the nation, hence it “should be kicked out”.
According to him, by 2019, “it will no longer be sai Baba but sai Bobo”.

“By next year, we are taking back this country from the hands of the old guards and we would ensure we set its feet on the path of progress,” he said.

“Then, it will no longer be sai Baba but sai Bobo because the country would not be left again in the hands of untrustworthy elders and leaders who have taken us back.

“We are tired of the old people in all the regions of the country mostly the ones who still think in analogue ways and have noting to offer us.”
