Politics / Omoyele Sowore: Candidate For Real Change In 2019 By Bayo Oluwasanmi by sowore2019: 6:24am On Oct 10, 2018
Throughout history, real change come not from inside the political system, but from ordinary people. People who change the world aren’t always the people you expect. They’re lowly poor men and women who believe in a better world or a better country.

Rosa Parks refused to obey the bus driver’s order to give up her seat and move to the back of the bus so a white person cold sit there. Parks’ act of defiance led to the Montgomery Bus Boycott December 5, 1955, in the US and it became pivotal moments in US civil rights movement.

Tunisian street vendor Mohammed Bouazizi out of desperation of living inn the edge set himself on fire in December 2010, became the symbol of the suffering of all Tunisians. Bouazizi’s death led to the overthrow of Tunisian dictator Zine El Abidine Ben Ali. The Tunisian uprising, in turn, led to the Arab Spring movement that ultimately toppled regimes in Egypt and Libya.

There was unidentified Tank Man who stood directly in front of a tank near Tienanmen Square in China on June 6, 1989, the day after China’s bloody crackdown on student protesters. Tank man has become an internationally recognized symbol of resistance to government oppression.

You’re able to read this article, thanks to Sir Tim Berners-Lee for the World Wide Web invented in 1994 at MIT Laboratory for Computer Science. Mother Teresa, a humble Albanian nun, changed the world forever with a mission to touch thousands of lives by nursing the sick, visiting the dying, educating the poorest children and going on countless missions. She spent 69 years in service of the world’s most in-need populations.

Six months ago or so when Omoyele Sowore presidential candidate African Action Congress (AAC) started the TakeItBack Movement, some people called him a day dreamer, attention seeker, inconsequential, and other derogatory names in their political dictionary. Sowore has since disrupted the political space in Nigeria. Saturday, October 6, AAC held its convention in Lagos with over 2,000 delegates from the 36 states of the federation and nominated him as the presidential candidate of the party.

Today, Nigeria is a national tragedy, a monument of collective shame. Most Nigerians agree that the final flicker of hope for a nationhood has been extinguished. Nigerians have seen a small group of robber barons in government get very, very rich in the last 30 years. The glittering mansions, the fleet of jets, the lusts and luxury of these tiny elite group of thieves is stark contrast to inequalities, rampant corruption, abject poverty, and crumbling public infrastructure. Our youths have become armed robbers and prostitutes. Our healthcare system is in the intensive care unit (ICU). The education system is of no utility.

Nigerians are constantly on the edge: confused, terrified, hopeless, stranded. We’re sitting on a keg of powder of explosive mix of poverty and terrorism. Poor Nigerians want change. They are sick and tired of the Old Brigade of Thieves that had ruled Nigeria for 58 years. In the place of hope, outrage and indifference, anger and apathy, and shocking violence. There’s danger ahead.

We’re well aware Nigeria would explode without the safety valve of democracy, without a fearless leader with vision, vigor, rigor, courage, boldness, capacity, capability, political will, passion and compassion. Omoyele Sowore has proven over and over again that he possesses these qualities required of a leader for a troubled nation in troubled times.

As an activist, Sowore knows Nigeria’s needs and demands. His knowledge and background would inform his presidency on issues. As president, he’ll maintain his activist principles that fueled his fight on behalf of Nigerian poor for the past 30 years. Sowore is an activist, orator, an organizer, a patriot and a dissident. The military era and student jagged opposition to military dictatorship spurred and elevate Sowore to a leadership position in the struggle against oppression, injustice, and tyranny.

The annulment of June 12 provides Sowore a larger freedom struggle that evolved in tandem with Sowore. The man and the struggle each lifting one another to greater heights. The June 12 events further cemented his standing. Sowore led demonstrations that provoked an uprising against the military intruders.

With the nomination of Omoyele Sowore (AAC), President Muhammadu Buhari (APC), and Abubakar Atiku (PDP) and other candidates, the stage is set for the battle for the presidency. When a leader projects purpose and passion for his vision, he creates an atmosphere of expectancy among the people. Sowore has created such expectancy in the relatively short time of six months with his town hall meetings in 29 of the 36 states of the federation and dozens of countries overseas:

A sense of destiny: Sowore communicates a sense of better future, the belief that they’re in this together. (2) A sense of family: He’s been able to convince the people that they’re joined together as a family by his mission – a vision of a better tomorrow. (3) A militant spirit: He assured them that he’ll match his representation with a militancy that the urgency of the task ahead demands. (4) Connection: Sowore knows how to connect with the youths. He speaks their language. He expressed empathy and compassion for their predicament and brings courage to their dreams and pursuits.

Sowore has been able to articulate his vision emphasizing that instead of contagious selfishness, there should be contagious servant-hood. He told them that to get ahead, put others first. His vision rests squarely on the acronym SPICER – HEAT (security, power, infrastructure, corruption, economy, restructuring, health, education, agriculture, tourism). He exudes integrity and honesty that will serve him well.

He’ll use the bully pulpit of the presidency for social change, economic development, and prosperity for all Nigerians. He is the candidate for real change in 2019. Nigeria needs a troubleshooter in order to grow, develop, and for safety and security. Results with resolve – Omoyele Sowore is the right candidate.

Let’s go there!

Politics / Don't Sell Your Votes For Money That Won't Last More Than A Day - Sowore by sowore2019: 10:08am On Oct 09, 2018
moyele Sowore, presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), has cautioned the electorate against exchanging their votes for money "that will not last more than a day".

He stated this at a town hall meeting organised by Taiwo Ibironke, who is contesting for the Surulere Constituency 2 seat in the Federal House of Representatives on the platform of AAC.

The event held at 64A, Agebi road, Aguda, Surulere, Lagos.

He said: "Don't sell your votes for money that will not last more than a day; for Ankara of sorrow, or for things that do not translate to good governance for you."

He noted with dismay the emergence of old recycled leaders, whom he accused of "destroying the nation and its systems", stating that “When will it become your turn? Enough is enough. The highest they can do is what is visible to us from 1993 to date. This is the Nigeria of their dreams".

He continued: “We know they have money, but when they come to give you, reject it because your destiny is more important than money. What were the occupations of these politicians before they got into office? How much did they earn as salaries? Where did they get the money from? Work to build a Lagos of your dreams that is not the estate of one man. Lagos must be free; Surulere must be free; Nigeria must be free.

Taiwo Ibironke, who is contesting to represent Surulere Constituency 2 in the House of Representatives, called on the people to do the right thing, stating that if voted in, he would be "held accountable for every penny and opportunity in government”.

Kayode, one of the attendees, asked how possible it was to accomplish all the promises of the AAC, to which Sowore responded: "The old politicians cannot deliver because they have godfathers, who are waiting on the return on their investments. We don’t have godfathers; we have struggled for Nigeria’s freedom over the years. Check our antecedents, we are here to work and we have no one to repay, but you who voted us in”.

Politics / Rumpus At Ooni’s Palace: Sowore Not To Blame; Armchair Critics And Bedroom Napol by sowore2019: 12:35pm On Sep 18, 2018
Why Nigeria has failed to create real democracy, wealth, and happiness for its 160 million citizens is one of the greatest puzzles of our generation. It will be dishonest and arrogant to claim to have easy solutions for these long running problems. However, some cultural structures serve as barriers that maintain these conditions.

Nigeria is a textbook example representing cultural stagnation. We keep on doing the same thing over and over again expecting different results.

Development continues to elude Nigeria because of accumulation of leadership failures combined with hubris, hypocrisy, and rampant corruption. It is not possible to transform Nigeria without doing what has never been done before in the country. Albert Einstein reminds us: “The significant problems we face cannot be solved at the same level of thinking we were at when we created them.”One of our biggest obstacles in Nigeria is wrapped in our old demons: culture and religion. Nigerians employ primitive defense mechanisms by refusing to see the reality. The fight for the future of Nigeria requires a different mind-set, a different attitude, cultural shift, and rejection of opium of religion. It is sad to note that for 58 years Nigeria’s future never had enough voters – those interested in the past and for immediate gratification usually win out.Last week, Omoyele Sowore of the African Action Congress (AAC) and some members of TakeItBack Movement paid a courtesy call on Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi Ojaja II at his palace in Ile-Ife. The Oba had kept Sowore and his team waiting for three hours. After three hours, the Oba decided to meet with Sowore. The rumpus at the palace went viral. Let me turn the story over to an eye-witness:

“I was at the event. We got there around 11:48 am with Omoyele Sowore billed to see Ooni by 12 pm. We waited patiently until 3 pm when the Ooni appeared . Sowore bowed instead of prostrating. When he was given the microphone to talk, Sowore said : “I am a cultured Yoruba man and I know that when you come to palace, you prostrate to greet the king. Kabiyesi, me and members of this movement are upset that you kept us waiting for three hours. Kabiyesi, you came to the USA for a program and you entered the venue at the time you were expected to be there. Does that mean you respect or value people that are over there? However, Kabiyesi, permit me to tender three prostrations, 1 for you Kabiyesi, 1 for the Chiefs, and the last one for the people of Ife.” As we prostrated, someone just released tear gas on us and we started coughing. After we were tear-gassed inside the palace and could not breathe, we left the hall to catch some fresh air only to be confronted by a bunch of thugs within the palace ground. They savagely beat us. The Ooni wanted to curse the person who did it, he said the person embarrassed him, that's the first time such a thing is happening at the palace. Then, the Ooni apologized to us for being tear-gassed and attacked by thugs. That's what transpired.”

Sowore is too intelligent to be stupid or naive. He knew he was before Ooni. He knew he dare not disrespect or rude to Ooni. He knew he cannot insult or disparage Ooni. As a Yoruba man, he’s aware of the reserved awe Yorubas have for Obas.
But the self-appointed custodians of our culture, the armchair critics, and bedroom Napoleons twisted the story to agree with their resentment against Sowore and the TakeItBack Movement. They didn’t see anything wrong that Sowore and his team were tear-gassed and “savagely” beaten by thugs. They were only concerned about culture. To them, culture is supreme and precious than the life of Sowore and his group.

These defenders of the ancient, believe culture must be respected and protected at the expense of human life. They lied that Sowore failed to prostrate, that he was rude, arrogant, brash, not fit to be president, that his candidacy is dead on arrival, that he should exit from the race, and he should wait till 2027. They literally called for Sowore’s head saying he had committed political as well as cultural hara-kiri that’s beyond pardon. And many unintelligible juvenile aspersions were cast on Sowore.

We know Nigerian politics is barbaric, primitive, violent, and bloody. We know Sowore had ignited the fury of Old Brigade of Thieves and reactionary elements who are the benefactors of the moribund andpunitive status quo. Of course it is saying the obvious that they feel threatened by TakeItBack Movement. They are scared. They are confused. They are intimidated. Because no one - until now - ever summoned the courage to puncture and deflate these saboteurs and enemies of our people and cut them to size. Sure, the attack was deliberate and directed at Sowore. Thank God, no one was injured.Yes, culture should be honored not at the expense of people’s life. People should not be slaves to culture. Culture is for people and not people for culture. They should be able to see the bigger picture of Sowore's vision for Nigeria: a peaceful, progressive, and prosperous nation where no one is oppressed. Sowore as president is committed to outlaw what Leonard Peikoff calls “the willingness of the good to suffer at the hands of the evil, to accept the role of the sacrificial victim for the 'sin' of creating values.”

How many of you that have declared Sowore unfit for president have the guts, the sagacity, the antecedents of political and social activism of Sowore? How many of you possess the ruggedness, tenacity, and doggedness of Sowore? How many of you can boast of Sowore's brilliance, eloquence, dazzling exuberance, strength, energy, stamina, his fighting spirit, passion, and patriotism? How many of you can risk everything for nothing like Sowore is doing right now? How many of you? I dare you, speak! How many of you can openly accuse and confront your oppressors and other profiteers of the status quo? If it was so easy many of you would have jumped into the political fray of the unpredictable political land mines of Nigeria. How many of you can go so far like Sowore? I challenge you, come out and join the race and see how easy it is.

Many of you attacking and ridiculing Sowore have not done anything worthwhile or significant in your life. Many of you have nothing to show other than to discourage and discredit Sowore who braved all odds in fighting the whales and hyenas. It is easy to point accusing fingers at Sowore. It is easy to write Sowore off. It is easy to make mockery of what he's trying to do. It is easy to deride Sowore. What can you do? What have you done to gight on behalf of dispossessed Nigerians? I dare you, let's hear your defense. I have one word for these armchair and bedroom Napoleons: Go to hell!President Jerry Rawlings was right when he told Sowore that “Nigerians are still in love with their oppressors.” Indeed, many of you are still infatuated with your tormentors: the Buharis, the Bukola Mesujamba Sarakis, the Atikus, the IBBs, the David Marks of the world and other despicable personalities of Nigerian politics.

If you like vote Sowore. If you like vote for your native tyrants that will unleash untold hardship, poverty, insecurity, fear, violence, and unspeakable atrocities on you for the next four years. Give your votes to the ones that have turned your young men armed robbers and your young women prostitutes. Give your vote to the destroyers of Nigeria. Elections have consequences and I bet you, you’ll pay dearly for it. After all, Sowore has nothing to loose but everything to gain. As we inch toward 2019, our souls will be tried. Our patience will be exhausted. Our sensibilities will be attacked. Our mission will face tremendous opposition. We expect that. We're prepared for the worst but hope for the best. We're not deterred. We're not scared. We're not intimidated. We’re here to stay and slug it out and win.
I say bring it on... and let's go there!

Why did he have to narrate that Sowore demanded N100million himself since it was made during their conversation which he recorded. If he indeed it's true, Sowore would have been prosecuted by now, because all the toes he has stepped on would have lashed on the allegation.

Politics / Buhari’s Government Is Failing To Secure Favourable Trade Deals For Nigeria- AAC by sowore2019: 6:29pm On Sep 03, 2018
On March 29th, 2018 the TakeItBack Movement called the Buhari government to task for its shambolic approach to the African Continental Free Trade Agreement. Nigeria failed to sign that agreement largely because the business sector, which had not been included in the negotiations, pushed back against the Buhari administration. It was a failure not to have included the business community in those critical and complex discussions from the start.

Recent events continue to raise our concerns that this government is not only lifeless, but it is also clueless and ill prepared to provide the dynamic and transformative leadership that Nigeria needs. The short sightedness of this administration is costing Nigeria greatly. We are gravely concerned that the Buhari government is still not alive to its responsibilities on the trade negotiation and economic front. We will outline two key areas of concern.

CONCERN 1: GROSS NEGLIGENCE IN PREPARING FOR THE FORUM ON CHINA-AFRICA COOPERATION

Over the past decade, China has aggressively courted trade and investment partnerships with African nations. China’s strategic motives have been both economic and geopolitical. African nations must be alive to the reality that China is approaching Africa with a clear end goal in mind - the emergence of China as a global and military superpower. In dealing with China, African nations must therefore be clear headed about how their nations benefit from any bilateral or multilateral agreements with China.

President Buhari is attending the Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation holding between September 3 and 4 with a delegation of government officials and no business delegates. While countries like South Africa, Rwanda, Cameroon and Ghana are attending the summit with high powered delegations comprising of the leaders of the major business organisations and economic sectors in their nations, Nigeria’s official delegation comprises of 9 ministers, 4 governors and 4 senators.

South Africa’s preparation for the summit is a study in contrasts. Several preparatory meetings were held prior to the departure for Beijing to harmonise the positions of the government and business sectors, and to set a target level of investment outcomes from the summit. The South African delegation includes industry captains from various sectors including media, mining, technology and agro-processing. A target of $ 7 Billion of investments was set as the desired outcomes for trade agreements that would emerge from the trip.

We are unaware of any similar preparations by the Nigerian delegation. The only investment targets announced by the Nigerian government is the planned signing of an agreement on the $328m loan facility provided by the Chinese EXIM Bank, for the National Information and Communication Technology Infrastructure Backbone Phase 2 project being undertaken by Galaxy Backbone Limited and Huawei Technologies Limited.

CONCERN 2: BUHARI’S GOVERNMENT IS FAILING TO RECOGNISE THAT THE WORLD ORDER IS SHIFTING

In 2018 alone, leaders of Europe’s largest economies (France, Germany and Great Britain) have all visited Nigeria. The Presidency boasted over the weekend that the high level of interest in Nigeria is because of world leaders respect President Buhari. It is extreme naïveté to believe that leaders like Macron, Merkel and Theresa May are coming to Nigeria because they are in search of new chat friends.

Given America’s more insular trade policies, China’s economic ascendancy and the fracturing of the European Union by Brexit, a major realignment in economic and geopolitical alignments is taking place.

What Buhari and his cabinet imagine to be social visits are highly strategic manoeuvrings by these global superpowers. Nigeria is at risk of becoming a pawn in a complex game of chess.

The economic and policy team of the TakeItBack Movement is concerned that while other countries are playing 3-dimensional chess, the Nigerian government is playing a simplistic game of roadside draughts.

SOUNDING THE ALARM - NIGERIA MUST BE VIGILANT

We are sounding the alarm so that the Buhari government can awaken to its responsibilities. As world leaders continue to troop into Africa in general and Nigeria in particular in various bids to establish bilateral trade agreements and create deals that are beneficial for their countries, a clear headed strategy for maximising the benefits of these new alignments for Nigeria must be pursued.

Again - we sound the alarm that in two short months, Nigeria has been visited by three of Europe’s largest economies – Macron ((July), Theresa May (August) and Angela Merkel (August). That the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, should try to spin this, as Buhari gaining favour with the Western world as opposed to what it actually is – world leaders jostling to make the most of the Nigerian pie as quickly and as totally as they can – is worrying and points to this Movement’s greatest fear: that Nigeria will be mortgaged off wholesale in deals that further bind us in shackles of debt, deprivation and dependence.

Theresa May’s entourage leaves no discerning mind in any doubt as to what she was in Nigeria to discuss. A delegation of 29 business leaders to promote "the breadth and depth of British expertise in technology, infrastructure, and financial and professional services” followed the prime minister. Britain’s goal is clearly to seek new pastures and more amenable deals as Brexit looms ahead of the United Kingdom.

The head of the German economic powerhouse, Angela Merkel, made it abundantly clear that her main goals for visiting Nigeria are to discuss and sign MoUs on security and economic deals as her entourage chiefly comprises the German business delegation.

Again, we reiterate that the strategic choice of delegates on these crucial trips sits in stark contrast to President Buhari’s trip to the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) - as he is accompanied only by governors, senators and ministers with little or no experience in the kind of business and economic policies and processes that will be discussed at a commercial and economic summit.

While all of these governments are rushing to cash in on the clueless Buhari government, we wish to warn them that in 6 months, Nigerians will go to the polls to elect a new government. A government led by our leader, Omoyele Sowore under the banner of the African Action Congress (AAC) will vigorously reassess all agreements entered into by the Buhari government. Any and all agreements that mortgage Nigeria’s future and exploits our people and/or resources will not be honoured.

Take It Back Movement is immovable in its belief that Nigerians will no longer be sold for a few bright trinkets. We will only agree to and abide by agreements that further the nation and our cause as the Giant of Africa.

In a few short months, Nigeria will begin the long road to recovery; a new world where we reclaim our rights, our resources, and our prominence. Buhari’s government would do well to leave the serious business of economic trade deals to incoming astute leaders who will approach negotiation tables with more than blank expressions and even emptier minds.

Nigeria MUST progress!

so many Nigerian youths are gullible, the lack sound memory.... sowere is more like a tug, and does not have what it takes to be president, he does things on contract, he works for APC, we can't forget in a hurry how he tried to blackmail Apostle Suleman Johnson before the truth sprang out even the lady confessed that she was paid to blackmail the man of God. We know how he blackmailed Good luck Jonathan, there are other cases of blackmail credited to sowere and his Sahara reporters..... forget sowere, Moghalu is the real deal

Hi, can you explain how he work for APC and provide evidences?

The details of the contracts and how he implement them?

On Apostle Suleiman, provide how Sowore did the blackmail and your perceived reason to why he did it? Or is it because he made Sahara Reporters platform available to air Stephanie Otobo's view, he is complicit?
Maybe we should start accusing seun for allowing Nairaland available for different accommodate different views or Zuckerberg for allowing people share their views on Facebook.

Grow up man and stop sharing baseless views and opinion
