Politics / Re: Sowore/tib Stance On PACT Proposal Before Durotoye Was Chosen by sowore2019: 8:17am On Aug 31, 2018
Sowore did not participate in the process of chosen Fela Durotoye, he only participated in the inaugural meeting and was not a signatory to the PACT proposal of 14th August 2018, which outline the selection process.

The Book of Chronicles, Chapter Sowore Vs PACT. Written by Adeyeye Olorunfemi

For the avoidance of doubt and to clear the air about some claims that Sowore is claiming a larger-than-life status, it is important to state that neither Sowore nor the TakeItBack Movement is scared of a Selection Process for a Consensus Candidate to lead the revolutionary charge of over 100 million young people of Nigeria. But our perspective to this United Front remains that people must be guided ideologically. We are not 'entitled' to power because we are young. We must TAKE power because we are responsible and we would be responsible for it.

It is in this clarity, I would highlight the actions and inactions of the Movement chronologically.

- *The Movement dodged the CUPP bullet by refusing to answer the call of 5 member parties who were calling tirelessly for Sowore to declare under their platforms.*

- *The Movement ALLOWED its Convener to be part of the PACT Meeting of July 31st.*

- *The Convener, Omoyele Sowore portrayed the qualities of a leader who is not bigger than the Movement by giving a report of the meeting to the Movement.*

- *Weeks after, the Working Committee of TiB then released a Statement citing concerns about the selection process and giving recommendations to PACT on how best this working alliance could serve the oppressed Nigerians who are yearning for good representation.*

- *PACT never replied to address these concerns. Instead an article titled 'Is Sowore working to destabilize the 2019 Youth Consensus Agenda?' rented the air.*

- What were the concerns raised?

1. *Concerns about Commitment to support ANY consensus candidate that emerges: We note that several of the members of PACT belong to CUPP or are members of the PDP. As a movement, we cannot commit to a process that would require that our movement should support ANY candidate with direct or indirect ties to the PDP.*

2. *Concerns that the selection process excludes the Nigerian people: As a progressive movement we believe the Nigerian people should have a say in who their leaders should be. Instead of a process that places the fate of Nigerians in the hands of less than 20 people.*

- What recommendations were given ?

OUR RECOMMENDATION FOR THE WAY FORWARD TO A DEMOCRATIC CONSENSUS

1. *Continue with party primaries: The 17 youth presidential candidates belong to about 6 political parties, including PDP, YPP, ANN, ANRP, AAC and others. After the party primaries, which must all end by October 7th, based on the INEC timetable, the number of contestants would have been reduced through a democratic process to no more than 6 candidates.*

2. *Evaluate strength of party organization through the congresses and party convention: A consensus youth candidate that will defeat the APC and PDP must have a formidable level of support, structure and organization. The party primaries will allow Nigerians to observe the organizational capabilities of all the candidates.*

3. *Coalition Building Efforts are Continuing: We have continued to drive forward with our efforts for a United Front, not just with PACT, but with other political parties and organizations. We are glad to announce that Change Nigeria Party (CNP) is now part of our Coalition. Talks are ongoing with two additional parties - the radical section of NCP and NAC.*

In my understanding , the Movement maintained that to have a Consensus Candidate that would rebel against these old guards, such candidate must show capacity and political capital.
This must be a candidate that can mobilize 1000 people without sweating or paying through his or her nose.
This should not be a candidate that can't attend his party Congress for the fear of a 'masquerade'.

Great Nigerian Youths! It is not for us to rejoice that the United Front isn't working NOW. Maybe ww do not know. We are not doing either Sowore or any other young aspirant a 'favour' by supporting them. Remember it is OUR COUNTRY and FUTURE.

Now that the cards are scattered, I am of the opinion that for a United Front, we would have to go back to the drawing board considering the above recommendations of the TakeItBack Movement open-mindedly.

Haven been the seer in the political sphere for some time now, Sowore should be trusted by Nigerians for his discerning mind to deliver good governance.
By now we should be sure that he would always be AWARE unlike Buhari.

TakeItBack Movement Clarifies Our position on the Selection Process for Youth Consensus Candidacy

TakeItBack Movement believes that a united front comprising of all parties and organizations committed to reclaiming Nigeria from the APC and PDP is necessary.

We enthusiastically supported Sowore’s participation in the July 31st meeting of youth candidates, where he relayed the position of our movement to PACT (Presidential Aspirants Coming Together) about our commitment to a United Front.

We have now had three weeks since that initial forum to assess our association with PACT and the alignment of our engagement to the ideals of our movement.

In the three weeks since that first meeting our convener participated in, we have had an opportunity to assess the impact of PACT.

POSITIVE FACTORS

1. Extension of INEC registration: We salute the support that PACT gave to the effort to extend voter registration. The success of this effort demonstrates the importance of having a unified voice.

CONCERNING FACTORS

1. Lack of participation in INEC protest action: PACT committed to support a direct protest on the planned suspension of voter registration on August 17th. While Sowore and the TIB Movement committed ourselves to the agreed action, only one of the other PACT participants joined in the protests at the INEC office.

2. Lack of participation in active advocacy for release of jailed journalist: The PACT meeting of August 16th took place at the same time that a protest against the arrest of the PREMIUM TIMES journalist, Samuel Ogundipe, was being held. While Sowore and TIB were engaged in principled protest action at the Police HQ, many of the PACT members remained silent on the critical question of press freedom, which we believe is a crucial pillar for a vibrant democracy. While some later tweeted their support for press freedoms, we were disappointed that more wasn’t done as a collective.

We are particularly concerned by the proposed consensus candidate selection process that has been agreed to by PACT. Our major concerns are as follows:

1. Concerns about Commitment to support ANY consensus candidate that emerges: We note that several of the members of PACT belong to CUPP or are members of the PDP. As a movement, we cannot commit to a process that would require that our movement should support ANY candidate with direct or indirect ties to the PDP.

2. Concerns that the selection process excludes the Nigerian people: As a progressive movement we believe the Nigerian people should have a say in who their leaders should be. Instead of a process that places the fate of Nigerians in the hands of less than twenty people, we recommend a process that allows the Nigerian people to participate in the selection of a consensus candidate.

OUR RECOMMENDATION FOR THE WAY FORWARD TO A DEMOCRATIC CONSENSUS

1. Continue with party primaries: The 17 youth presidential candidates belong to about 6 political parties, including PDP, YPP, ANN, ANRP, AAC and others. After the party primaries, which must all end by October 7th, based on the INEC timetable, the number of contestants would have been reduced through a democratic process to no more than 6 candidates

2. We are glad to announce that Change Nigeria Party (CNP) is now part of our Coalition. Talks are ongoing with two additional parties - NCP and NAC.

In conclusion, we restate our commitment to a United Front and to a democratic and inclusive process for reclaiming Nigeria.

Nigeria MUST progress !

Seun, lalasticlala, Myndd44, the post on FP is misleading, Sowore did not participate in the selection process. This was and has been our official position on the issue.

Politics / On PACT – Takeitback Movement Declares That Our Commitment Is To A United Front by sowore2019: 8:33pm On Aug 30, 2018
Earlier today, the Presidential Aspirants Coming Together (PACT) selected a Consensus Candidate from amongst the aspirants who participated in the straw poll. The TakeItBack Movement and our convener, Omoyele Sowore, were not part of this action.

Our position at the TakeItBack Movement has always been that a United Front of progressive forces is essential for wresting power from the status quo politicians. We believe that our voices are stronger together. As we’ve stated previously, the successful cooperative struggle which several youth presidential aspirants participated in, to extend the voter registration exercise, clearly demonstrates the power of a United Front.

However, we have also been very clear in our position, that the choice of who becomes the leader of almost 200 million Nigerians should not be determined by only about a dozen people, in a nation of 180 million persons. As democrats and progressives, we believe that leaders should emerge, only through a transparent process that allows the millions of Nigerians that are yearning for national development and transformative leadership, to have their say in electing their own representatives, in free and fair party primaries and eventually at the national polls in February 2019.

Our unwavering commitment is to a fair and transparent democratic process that includes party primaries and coalition building. As all the political parties stage their legislative, gubernatorial and presidential primaries between now and October 7th, 2018, we enjoin all Nigerians who desire national transformation to participate actively in the political process by joining political parties or competing for elective positions. For those seeking a political platform that stands solidly with the Nigerian people and is not aligned with either of the twin evils – the APC and PDP – that have ravaged Nigeria for decades, we invite you to join us in the African Action Congress.

The democratic process is about more than just the presidency; it is our aim to fill elected offices across Nigeria, from councillorship to the Presidency, with young men and women who are tired of the status quo and are truly primed to reclaim Nigeria.

We have heavily subsidised our nomination form fees to give brilliant and progressive minds across the country a chance to make their mark on Nigeria. Our complete fee exemptions for the disabled, youth corpers, honourably discharged defence personnel and serving or retired teachers, nurses and emergency service workers, prove that we are committed to building a greater Nigeria.

The TakeItBack Movement and the African Action Congress party are committed to creating a Nigeria that works for all, not a select few. We thank all the millions of Nigerians that have supported our campaign for transformation thus far. The road ahead of us remains a long and arduous one. With your continuing support, we will remain steadfast in demanding a fair and equitable nation, that works for all Nigerians.

Onward together! Let’s TakeItBack with action and determination!!

Unfortunately, you didn't make any sense. Not like Sowore made one either. He didn't mention of how he'd diversify the economy, no! Rather, he mentioned of how a state whose leadership is from his party will be made to implement the proposed minimum wage. So assuming the leadership in Plateau state is his party, how does he intend cajoling them to pay civil servants #100K?

Additionally, does he know that Nigeria is not as rich as he thinks? Or because we produce less than 3 million barrels of crude oil, then he assumes we're rich? He hinges the possibility of paying such amount of money on crude oil sales, what happens when the price falls? We run to China, World Bank, IMF etc. because we want to pay civil servants/corp members 100K? What else does Nigeria produce that can ensure we affording such amount annually? How come he doesn't talk about strengthening the economy, invariably, strengthening the currency but whines of how he will pay 100K? What about the resultant inflationary crises amounting from such ridiculous program?

Finally, who taught him economics in secondary school? He needs to ask for a refund.

Politics / How Omoyele Sowore Presidency Will Achieve N100,000 Minimum Living Wage by sowore2019: 8:14pm On Aug 19, 2018
Earlier today a post graced the Frontpage with the caption Omoyele Sowore: 'Minimum Wage Will Be N100,000 If Elected As President'.

Ever since our Presidential aspirant Omoyele Sowore made this statement way back April 2018, a lot of skeptic have doubted the possibility of achieving the programme, describing it as a tall dream. It is expected considering the kind battered dignity and brainwashed we have undergo under the past and present analogue leadership we have had.

Most Nigerian have internalize oppression and are made to believe only statements that comes from the elites, those who have failed the country.
Despite all the doubts expressed about the possibility of implementation of the minimum living wage since the statement was made by Sowore, we are undaunted about our resolve to implement the programme.

We have not only included it in our Take It back movement manifesto but has also gone ahead to include it in our great party African Action Congress (AAC) manifesto. What most Nigerians should know is that our Party is not driven ambition but our conviction and resolution that Nigeria works for all Nigerians and not just the elites. We neither have godfathers or godmothers but intelligent, thorough breed professionals.

These professionals took time to analyse the Federal Civil service, acquire the current estimate of civil servants and their pay structure across all cadre and went ahead to estimate in term of cost what it will take our party, African Action Congress to implement not only the minimum living wage but our other programmes.

I will share for the discerning minds to analyse. You can read more of our party manifesto and how we intend to implement them with their cost analysis at https://sowore2019.org/our-manifesto-full/

This is something that has never happened in the history of politics in Nigeria. It takes a collective decision by we Nigerians to free ourselves from the elites that have turn our treasury to their social security.

That's too much Mr Sowore
Even the proposed 50k by the federal government is too much

Most of our Corps members are unlearned and unproductive after college

They're just bunch of illiterates dressed in an academy camouflage

The best way to compensate them is to substitute any monetary rewards with basic entrepreneurship education, pray for them and encourage them that they still can become the likes of Aliko Dangote and Wale Adenuga of Nigeria

If many past Nigerian graduates had this single opportunity, most of them would have been greater than where they are at the moment

After all, business and entrepreneurship is the ultimate dream of many graduates

LuciferKristi:
So what will be miminum wage then? N200k? If yes, how will you achieve this? Explain.
NYSC allowance increment has to tally with the National minimum wage. Why?

It is realistic, we did our homework before coming up with the proposal. Nigerians have been brainwashed by the past and present analogue leadership we've had, they've internalize oppression and made to believe certain things are not possible.
We did the breakdown and analysis of the current salary scale and what we intends to pay to show the Naysayers that it is a possibility.

SOWORE maintains his earlier position that minimum wage will be 100,000 Naira when he becomes President.

Now for those pessimist who will come here to tell me it is not possible...

Politicians have told us many lies that's why you are saying it is not possible.

Permit me to tell you that a Nigerian Senator collects nothing less than 20 million naira every month...the house of reps members collects nothing less than 7.5 million every month.

Ministers and top government appointees collect millions every month.

Then when it comes to workers welfare they will tell you it is not possible to give workers a bumpy pay yet they spend billions of naira on themselves.

They waste billions buying you over during elections.

Be positive for once.

Vote SOWORE FOR PRESIDENT 2019.

Thanks, Nigerians have been brainwashed by the past and present analogue leadership we've had, they've internalize oppression and made to believe certain things are not possible.

Politics / "Without A Healthy Leader, We Cannot Have A Healthy Nation - Sowore by sowore2019: 7:00pm On Aug 16, 2018
The need for a universal healthcare coverage plan for all Nigerians, and prioritising the healthcare system in the country, has been restated.

The emphasis was made by Presidential Aspirant of the African Action Congress, Omoyele Sowore, at an event on ‘Governance and Political Agenda for Health’, organised by the Centre for Social Justice, at the Barcelona Hotel, Abuja.

Sowore condemned the frequent foreign trips of government officials, noting that even in the health sector, local hospitals are not befitting enough for Nigerians who cannot afford healthcare abroad.

In his address at the event, he called on Nigerians running for public office to first declare their health status, as “we cannot continue to vote people who will use our resources for foreign trips.”

On his plans for the healthcare sector if elected, Sowore said it was contained in his agenda for Nigeria or ‘SPICER-HEAT’, with the ‘H’ standing for adequate healthcare, and promised that his administration, if elected, would deliver a minimum of 15 per cent of the country’s national budget to ensuring healthcare facilities for Nigerians.

The event saw the presentation of health plans by two other presidential aspirants, Mathias Tsado and Jaiye Gaskiya, and an update on the current state of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) by the Executive Secretary, Professor Unman Yusuf.

Mild drama, however, broke out when Sowore while delivering his presentation, called out one of the panelists, Prof. Yusuf, for wearing headphones and using his phone, while the panel discussion was ongoing.

Sowore used the incident to call on Nigerians to vote out and retire old men, who do not care about the nation’s healthcare system and didn’t have the interest of the country at heart.

Professor Yusuf Usman, recently reinstated as Executive Secretary of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), is alleged to be involved in the unauthorised withdrawal of N10billion from the funds contributed by persons enrolled in the scheme.

I like Sowore but only as an Investigative Journalist. Sowore is too brash to be a President. He lacks one of the key ingredients to rule a complicated nation like Nigeria- DIPLOMACY.

There should be no diplomacy at the expense of the citizens suffering, no nation in the world can allows that.

I WISH WE CAN MAKE HISTORY WITH THIS....YOUNG PRESIDENT.. THE VAMPIRES LIKE OBJ, IBB, TYD etc AND OTHER BIG THIEVES WILL NOT LET HIM BE.

The oppressed are more than the oppressors, even among the security apparatus those you mentioned heavily relied on. What we needed to do is to remove the fear factor which they've instill in our mentality, they are nothing but mere mortals.
