Is it possible to get a National ID Number from the High Commission in London? Or can I only get it when in Nigeria?

The job may not be time-bound, but the Tier 2 work visa is time-bound. The first Tier 2 visa is 3 years, and renewing it can be for 5 years or another 3 years.

I bought the theory training book, but for 3 years I kept procrastinating. I'd study for 1 day, and abandon it for 3-6 months, and repeat.
Eventually, I vexed and just paid for a theory test date, believing it would ginger me to focus and study. LOL!! I still kept ignoring it.
Eventually, I took a day of work the day before the test, and did most of the studying. I also did some tense pressured reading the morning of the test.

I still passed the test on first try. So relieved!

I think you should take a leap of faith and just book a date for the test, and then you'll have to study for it. I think one week is enough to study for it, combined with your normal student classes.

Using youtube videos is also a great idea for the practicals

Beware of admiral and blackbox....esp if you quote like 2,000 miles per annum and you end up using over 10k/ annum....the premium will be automatically charged and automatically estimated.....so they might still charge you up to 1,000£ over the next 12 months....thats what happened to me, but me i am a doctor and i did about 14k miles after initially getting a cheap quote with2,000miles....so food for thought

Yes, I forgot to mention this earlier. I was told about this. So I used 10k miles/yr for my quote.
I'm extremely unlikely to exceed that.

Admiral sends weekly emails grading your driving from that device.
The first week, I only drove to/from work and a few places, and I got the Gold rating (other ratings are silver and bronze).
Then I drove to Manchester and I regularly drove at 80-90mph on the M74, M6, M62...and my rating dropped to Bronze.

As someone who just did first car insurance a few weeks ago, here are my tips:

- You need to spend some time with comparison websites. Go Compare, Compare the Market, uSwitch, Money Supermarket. here's a lot of info about yourself and the car that you'll need to input in each to get a list of different quotes.

- Some of these sites will make you spend a long time putting in details, and then they'll ask you to input your name, address, email, phone number to get the quotes. If you can put in fake details, do so.

- If you have already bought the car, or know the car you want to buy, get as much detail about it. exact car model, Reg No, mileage, Insurance group, security features, etc. The more info you have, and the more accurate the info is...the better your quotes will be.

- Some car insurance companies (like Aviva) don't appear on these comparison sites. You'll have to visit their own sites to get quotes.

- As a first time buyer, just prepare your mind for at least £1000. The quotes you get can vary from £750 to £2500. I got quotes of £2k+ with aviva

I got a good deal with Admiral BlackBox car insurance. It required me to attach a small device to my car which they use to monitor my driving. They sent the box within 5 days but you can start driving as soon as you buy the insurance and get the email. The deal cost £880 (if I paid one time) or a total of about £950 (if I paid monthly).

The first time I drove to Comforter, the satnav of the hire car took me through converted bus lane and I had to pay fines.
There's only free parking after 6pm, and it's usually full.

Congratulations, don't go and jam anybody and don't let anybody jam you for insurance sake. If you are involved in a colission no go report yourself to insurance whether you are at fault or not else your insurance go double. If possible send with the other party.

Car owners, I don finally join una.
Bought my first car some weeks ago and been enjoying it since.
I recently decided to do durability test. So I drove to Manchester, then to Leeds, then back to Glasgow over last weekend.

I'm still getting used to all the wahala about cars...like looking for free parking, paying for parking, garage visits, early morning ice/frost on windshields, and the occasional traffic jam lol.

But it's great to no longer depend on buses and uber.

I'm currently touring an european country using a schengen business visa issued for a different european country (France).
As long as the schengen visa is still valid.

Last last, at Immigration they will ask for confirmation of your return ticket or your accommodation reservation while in SPain.

It's a good move. Theresa May cancelled post-study visa extension just before I came here for my masters.
It hurt, because several of my 9ja university friends were already enjoying and using the post-study visa to get jobs.
Me, I had to spend plenty money to get work visa as soon as I graduated.

Anyway sha, I still hope that Brexit will be cancelled.

My very first day of driving alone in Glasgow (after passing driving test & pass plus), I got 2 tickets and was charged £120 for driving in bus lane. They offered me 50% if I paid early sha, which I did.
The annoying thing was the car rental company now charged me £40 for administration fee!

I used admiral for years until I had an accident and they doubled my payment so I left and went to direct .lol

While I was with them I found them very reasonably priced and had no issues.also the 10 months is for accelerated one year no claims. If the price is right u can take it so that in 10months u have 1 year no claim .... although I think it's like 5 years u noticed you have 6 years no claim instead of 5 if you had been doing 10 months versus 1 year .so not bad. I don't have other experiences apart from direct and admiral so cant compare to others

As for box.... I personally have never used one so don't know anything about it . Never really bothered to research because they came after

And £942 for another quote (that covers Europe and gives a courtesy car)

Are they good? Is it advisable to use the box monitiring dashboard?

I think the best tip is to look for a postcode that has a higher success rate of passing the test. I saw an article on bbc some months ago about it.
These areas are usually some distance away from city centres and have less traffic. Also pick a time that avoids rush hour (eg between 11am - 2pm)

I'm in scotland and passed on my 3rd attempt, despite doing it in an area close to traffic.

1. I use Virgin 100Mbps (just broadband, no phone, no tv) and never regretted it, although it's not very affordable. Cheaper deals can be found with TalkTalk, Plusnet, Post Office.
I had a bad experience with BT in my first flat and swore to never deal with them for anything again. All the other internet/cable companies use BT's cable structure, except Virgin.
I started paying around £25 pcm but now pay almost £50. I don't mind through, Virgin's service is worth it. I consume more than 150GB every month

2. My old flat was electric-only, and I used a top-up cards and prepaid meter. It was expensive, I was spending about £40 pcm in summer and £100 in winter.
My new flat is both gas/electric. I used to use ScottishPower but switched to one of these new, small, clean energy companies and costs about £50pcm

3. Utility bills can be paid via directdebit or manually. Directdebit is easier, but I dont trust these companies and always monitor my account deductions. Also, I only keep just enough money for all the bills in my bank account. If both of you are strangers or not related with enough trust, you can decide who will pay the bills online and the other person will bank-transfer his/her share.

4. In Glasgow, water is supplied by the local council and the cost is included in the council tax.

5. The usual bills are: Rent, council tax, cable/phone/broadband, electricity/gas, water (for the English). I think some serviced apartments may charge extra for domestic cleaning, parking, landscaping/gardening.

Civic of cos. But if u need a low fuel consumption car and a reasonable range car for a family of 3-4, nothing beats Kia Picanto, Hyundai i10, VW Up, Seat Mii & Skoda Citigo. Cheap to maintain and low insurance. Abeg Toyota Aygo should not been mentioned here ooo. Aygo should be a no no.

So for a lot of first time drivers/buyers like majority of us in this country, get something that will give u peace of mind. You don't need to be a petrol head, start small, get something that is value for money and just seat back.

I'd prefer to get a cheap 2/3-door car, as I no get family here. I prefer Compact/crossover/mini/small-SUVs like Citroen C3 or C4.
Several uber drivers have told me to buy a Skoda, cos they have excellent fuel mileage.

Before you buy a car, get an insurance quote to confirm affordability.....
Once 100% certain you are buying the vehicle (after test drive), you can insure vehicle on the spot (hopefully the insurance company can upload insurance data to MIT database immediately), without insurance on MIT, you cannot buy Tax + MOT must be valid).......

1. Search for your desired car, agree with the dealer ( make sure the package includes new MOT, new service and other orisiri is included as agreed).
2. After u've arranged payment. Start looking for insurance and that can start when u want to go pick up the car. E.g if u want to pick up your car 2 weeks after u've paid, u can arrange for your insurance to start by then.
3. Some dealers do offer 1 week insurance or 3 days insurance tho. Am not too sure, but u can ask.
4. Road tax can be paid on the day u are picking up the vehicle either pay by full or by DD. Important to know how much your vehicle specifications will be for the tax e.g My Kia auto is £140 /year.
