Politics / Re: Buhari Won But Nigeria Lost . by specco(m): 12:00am On Mar 03, 2019
mekaboy:
Let's assume Buhari did well in 4 years, but the SE just decided to vote Atiku because their own was picked as VP.

Then the SS, decided to vote Atiku to punish Buhari for defeating goodluck jonathan their own.

Now even the SW with the VP, voted massively against buhari , even with the promise of presidency.

Now this is where the real Nigerians are found. The Nigerians that are more educated, exposed and travel abroad a lot. While to the Yorubas might choose UK as their preferred travel destination to study and work, majority of Igbos head to China and Asia for business. The SS will prefer Europe as well. As a result of this exposure, have seen what developed countries look like and can agree on what development means to them. This was reflected in the votes. Even with all the bullion vans, majority voted based on their present circumstances and their desire to see a better Nigeria.

The Northern party leaders Accuse the SW of betrayal considering the amount of money made available and the promise of possible presidency.

However, the should know that the South is not the North. Education and exposure plays a large role in this part of the country.

Education and exposure informs the decision making in this part and you will need much more than money in.bullion vans and promise of presidency to win this part.

The youths may be unemployed in the south but they are not unemployable. They have finished from the university, some have gone ahead to do masters and waiting for an opportunity to put their knowledge into practice to earn a living for themselves.

Yes, you set up a scheme to pay people who have graduated from the university in IT, medicine, Engineering to be teaching religious knowledge in.villages and earn 30k monthly. While some lazy ones saw that as the final destination, majority saw it as a distraction and voted for an alternative to the present government.

The south is not where someone in a religious gathering will tell the people who to vote and they will with our considering their present circumstances. Or will someone in an IDP camp as a result of government s failure at security be told to vote the same government and they will agree.

The best you can do to suppress voters in the south is to mobilize thugs to the polling unit ,send malfunctioning card readers or cancellation votes. All things being equal majority will vote against a failed administration any day.

Now looking at the votes from SW, subtract those paid to vote Buhari, Subtract those that voted to retain Osibanjo, Subtract those that voted to produce president in 2023. Then see what is left for Buhari. It's clear that Buhari lost in the southwest as well. So he lost in the entire south.

Whatever happens in the North is influenced by lack of education and exposure, religious fanaticism, lack of expectation from life, idleness .

Putting all these together, buhari lost the elections, but was declared winner.
According to your logic, the SW are the real Nigerians and voted objectively for Pdp because they are more educated, enlightened and travel 'abroad', Europe. But the SE who only travel to China and Asian countries only voted for Pdp because of narrow interest ie for Peter Obi their son as Vp. And also the SS only wanted their pound of flesh from Buhari for defeating their son, Jonathan in 2015. So these are the only reasons SS and SE voted against Buhari according to the Op. What a crap!
Pmb's non performance in the economy, security and fight against corupion is visible even to the blind.
Why choose to denigrate the whole nations of SE and SS as bunch of less educated fellows who voted based on sentiments only.
So the SE and SS are not real Nigerians? They do not feel the economy, lopsided appointments, worsening security of lives and property, hunger etc? What amount of education or travelling to Europe does one need to decide against the listed above?
This bashing at every opportunity will not stand.

Politics / Re: Video Of Hausa-fulani Beggar: Matters Arising by specco(m): 8:52pm On Mar 01, 2019
Corrinthians:
I would cut straight to the chase here because I have never felt so appalled by such brazen display of HATE in my whole life.

The 2019 elections have come and gone, and expectedly, there are the victors and the losers, and those whose mighty egos have been bruised, somewhat irreparably. Unfortunately, those who pride themselves as the beacons of literacy and civility have been the ones displaying the worst signs of barbarism and illiteracy.

A video has emerged of a guy, presumably an Atiku/Obi supporter, rebuffing a beggar who approached him, simply because the beggar is of Northern origin! More surprising than the brazen display of hate towards a destitute, are the comments which have trailed the video, especially on this forum. To those who seem to applaud the callous and shameful display of RAW HATE, the beggar deserves it because they aided the reelection of Buhari.

Now, the following questions arise, and these are questions a human with the heart and brain of a human, should ask themselves.

1. Majority of those who claim the election was a sham and that the actual winner is Atiku/obi, what more evidence does one need to prove they dont believe themselves when they say that?

If indeed you believe Atiku/obi won the election, isnt it then likely that AT LEAST 40% of those northerners voted them? We are talking about millions of people here. Allow that sink for a moment.

Therefore, if millions of those people did vote Atiku/obi, then, chances are there's a healthy probably that person towards whom you are directing your hate actually voted the same candidate you voted!!! How then do you justify your HATE for him?? Can you see how hate blinds reason?

2. If you claim Atiku/obi won but rigged out, what exactly concerns a beggar with rigging? Would someone who rigged an election be on the streets bagging? Do you think any of those people seen in those disgusting videos where folks were thumb printing rims after rims of ballot papers would have anything doing in the streets begging? Do the people you saw in those videos look anything like these beggars to you?

3. We take pride in our religion as Christians and those who are seen applauding the barbaric act are same folks who claim to be Christian's and speak of some phantom islamization agenda. Now, what I would like to ask is, what part of our religion encourage such acts of wickedness and hate? Isnt LOVE itself the greatest virtue of Christianity? Or is there some other brand of Christianity out there which we are oblivious of?

As a matter of fact, both frontline contenders to the office are from THE SAME REGION AND RELIGION, so why have we chosen to become so embittered by the loss of one of them? Or is the reaction born more out of Obi's defeat than it is Atiku's?

We thought we had seen it all as per the hate these folks are capable of after jonathan's loss, but from what we are seeing, it is instructive that we the good citizens of this country brave ourselves for the worse. Unfortunately, those pushing us to the precipice happen to be the most dispersed people across this country. There is hardly any corner of the country where you dont find their kith and kin doing business. What then do they think would be the fate of their loved ones if shiit hits the fan? What exactly is there to gain from this show of shame?

The APC endured opposition for sixteen long years under which period they suffered needless damages and oppression by agents of the state. We never saw them demonstrate such vileness. Why then is it so difficult for the pdp and her supporters to stomach just FIVE YEARS of opposition? Had the supporters of APC acted the way we see these guys act today, would there really be any country left to scramble over today? What is there to gain from burning down a country to whose leadership you aspire? Are you planning on ruling over her ashes?

I think it is time the government of the day uses all the resources within her powers, especially with the incoming NASS, to bring some sanity into the social media space before it consumes the country. China is doing it and heavens have yet to fall!!! As a matter of fact, one is tempted to think Nigerians aren't civilised enough to have access to social media if the things we see there every day is anything to go by. Ironically, the people who boast of being civilised are the ones pushing the boundaries of hate on the internet!

There should be a clampdown on those propagating hate in whichever form. If they can't learn to accept defeat like civilised humans do, then they should have no business having their inflammable opinions broadcasted to the general public. Let them keep that pollution to their nuclear families. angry angry

Thank you.
Op, You just unmasked yourself. You are very bigoted and full of hate. How did you decipher that guy in the photo is Igbo. He could have been of same ethnicity with you. Very possible. The fact remains that a lot decent folks North, South are disappointed with the results. You are just brimming with bile and hate for the Igbo. Not good for your health.

Politics / Re: Islamic-state Linked Terrorists Seized Nigeria's Baga Town -BBC by specco(m): 1:53pm On Dec 29, 2018
BlacSmit:
Militants linked to the Islamic State (IS) group have hoisted their flag in a Nigerian town after seizing control of it, three residents have told the BBC.

Hundreds of people have fled the fishing town of Baga after the militants overran it on Wednesday night, the residents said.

The militants seized weapons from a military base, and torched a naval base on the shores of Lake Chad, they said.

The military denied Baga had fallen, saying the attack had been repelled.

But PRNigeria, an agency well-connected with the military, quoted an intelligence officer as saying that troops had made a "tactical withdrawal" from their base after coming under attack.

"The Nigerian Air Force in response to distress call quickly mobilised military aircraft and flew over 20 sorties [on] Wednesday night and throughout Thursday," it quoted the unnamed officer as saying.

A resident, who spoke to the BBC after he fled Baga, said a militant led the morning prayer on Thursday at his mosque in the town.

Other armed militants were present at the mosque, and prayed there too, the resident said.

The militants told the congregation that civilians would not be targeted and were free to leave the town, he added.

The fighters identified themselves as being members of the Islamic State's West Africa Province (Iswap), an IS affiliate which has distanced itself from Boko Haram, the main insurgent group in north-eastern Nigeria.

The militants had captured heavy armoured tanks, boats and a large cache of weapons during the raid on the military and naval bases, other residents said.

The military base was the local headquarters of the multinational task force, which includes troops from neighbouring states fighting the militants, the residents added.

Some troops fled with civilians, as the militants stormed the town, in north-eastern Borno state, on Wednesday night, the residents said.

In a statement on Thursday, Nigerian army spokesman Sani Usman confirmed the attack on the military base but said the militants had been pushed back after troops put up a "determined fight".

"Similarly, a search and rescue team has been constituted. The Nigerian Air Force component has also been mobilised and are engaging the fleeing terrorists. Unfortunately, a naval personnel was killed in action," he added.

January 2015, Boko Haram took control of the town after killing hundreds of residents and forcing thousands to flee.

Baga - and most other territory seized by the militants - was later retaken by the army.

Some analysts fear there will be an escalation of attacks by the militants in the run-up to elections next year.

President Muhammdu Buhari, who is seeking a second term, took office in 2015 with a promise to defeat the militants.

At the launch of his re-election campaign on Friday in the southern city of Uyo, he said the militants had lost much territory since he took office.

"We are going to eventually clear them out of the country," he said, without referring to the ongoing fighting in Baga.

I saw this on the BBC and thought you should see it:

Islamic State-linked terrorists 'seize Nigeria's Baga town' - http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-africa-46705837
And the Army want to launch "Python dance" across Nigerian cities. Which one is priority ? Fighting the insurgents or intimidating the hapless innocent civilians?

The Spiritual Director of Adoration Ministry Enugu, Nigeria,Father Mbaka,on Thursday survived assassination attempt on his life. The incident happened at exactly 6:14pm.He spoke of his assassination during Friday's Adoration before apologising to Peter Obi.He explained how gunshots were fired on him while on his way to a meeting.According to him,he wanted to stop but the Holy Spirit urged him to keep moving. The bullets destroyed his glasses while the one that was meant to hit him passed without touching him.Security personnel inspected the car and said the damages were caused by pump action bullets. He urged all the Adorers and reverends to pray for him.He knelt down at the altar, all the reverends that came to the church laid hands on his head while joining the Adorers to pray for him.He urged them to keep praying for him. However,he said his spirit is still high and can not be intimidated.Speaking further,he said he is a baby of the church and servant of God.

In a statement signed by signed by Chief Aka Emmanuel, President, National Adoration Family, Chief Okolo Godwin, President, Adoration Fathers’ Associations World Wide, Mrs Ann Aligwe,President, Adoration Mothers’ Association World Wide, Chukwu Agoziem, President, Adoration Youths’ Association World Wide and Barr Ike Maximus Ugwuoke- Media Chief, they said Fr. Mbaka was shot in Enugu, the State capital.

The statement reads:

“It is with rude shock and utter surprise that we received the report of the attempted assassination plot of the Spiritual Director of Adoration Ministry Enugu Nigeria last made Thursday evening by some unknown gunmen who fired gun shots at him on his way in Enugu.

“This incident has added to several other assassination plots targeted at Fr Mbaka since after the first plot that was carried out on him on his way from the Bishop’s house where he had gone to answer an impromptu call by his Bishop during the regime of Governor Chimaroke Nnamani of Enugu State .

“This assassination plot against Fr Mbaka is coming barely few days after the 2018 Harvest and Bazaar of the Ministry where Fr Mbaka had come under massive media attack for asking Peter Obi, the PDP Vice Presidential Candidate for the 2019 General election who attended the Bazaar programme, to make public his support or donation for the Church Project of the Ministry.

“Many Supporters of Peter Obi and even clergies have misconstrued this as embarrassing to Peter Obi and to the Catholic Church and this has consequently given rise to the statement issued by the Catholic Bishops Conference of Nigeria (CBCN) that same Thursday on the issue. The issue had lingered in spite of the apology, which Fr Mbaka in his characteristic humility had tendered at the altar to Peter Obi and anyone who may have been in any way form and kind been offended at the Bazaar event.

“We have refrained from making any official statement on the ongoing media attack against Fr Mbaka over the Baazar incident because he had held us from joining issues with the Church Clergies and hierarchies on the subject, but we cannot continue to keep silent especially now that the issue is taking the dimension of plot to exterminate his life.

“We recall that the last time Fr Mbaka raised alarm over threat to exterminate him was in early 2015 when he faced a similar persecution by some church hierarchy and the PDP Government following his 31st December Prophecy of the imminent defeat of former President Goodluck Jonathan led PDP Government by President Mohammadu Buhari at the 2015 General Election.

“Today, with the 2019 general election around the corner, it appears that history is repeating itself. The contemporaneousness of the recent attack of Fr Mbaka by gunmen with the Peter Obi and the CBCN saga leaves us to a safe conclusion that the attack on Fr Mbaka may have either been politically engineered or ecumenically endorsed, and thus we will not hesitate to call on the security agencies in this country to beam their searchlights and leave no stone unturned in getting to the root of this issue.

“Fr Mbaka’s life means so much to us and many poor and voiceless Nigerians for whom he lives and so we cannot be silent on the face of any threat to his life real or perceived. The graphic narration of the sinister assassination plot as recounted by Fr Mbaka himself during the last Friday’s all night Adoration vigil should not be taken lightly and we charge the security agencies in this country to arise to the situation.

“We continue to thank God for His continuous miraculous protection of Fr Mbaka and for His Special Supernatural Security (SSS) of Fr Mbaka and the Adoration Ministry. We are by this medium sending a strong warning to wherever the assassination plot against Fr Mbaka is coming from, be it the politicians or their supporters or the Church that we shall not fold our hands and keep watching. We shall not only expose the source of this threat to the life of Fr Mbaka at the fullness of our investigations but we shall also match same with equal force in self defence.

“While we have the faith that God will fight our cause, we believe even more in the defence of our faith through our good works and actions.”

Watch the video of Father Mbaka speaking about his assassination on the link above(he spoke about it from 26min of the video)
