Ultimately, the desperate efforts of the kidnappers to shake off their pursuer ended in disaster, as the car they were traveling in crashed into a road embankment.

Amos and his companions approached the scene cautiously, as the female passenger in their car continued to warn of a possible trap. However, as they drew closer, they could see other pedestrians rushing to the crashed vehicle, and Amos decided to investigate further.

By the time Amos and his team reached the scene, the kidnappers had already fled the scene, but the abducted woman could be heard answering questions from the gathered crowd.

Germany-based business entrepreneur and chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Honourable Olayinka Segelu, has expressed his deepest condolences on the passing of the Osi Balogun of Ibadanland, Oba Lateef Gbadamosi Adebimpe.

A rising Nollywood actor has been reported as one of the casualties in a recent police operation targeting a suspected kidnapping gang in Lagos.

According to reports, the Lagos State Police Command's Special Squad One Team engaged a nine-man suspected kidnap gang around the Ajao, Okota, Isolo, and Ladipo axis of the state on July 5th. The operation resulted in the death of all nine suspects, with the police recovering five AK-47 rifles and two SUV jeeps.

Prominent film producer and former Chief Executive Officer of Best of Nollywood (BON), Seun Oloketuyi, has now revealed that one of the slain suspects was Prince Henry Ode, a rising actor from Port Harcourt. Ode was also the executive producer for popular Nollywood actor Yul Edochie.

A Germany-based Ibadan-born politician and Chairman of YSEG Hotels and Suites , Hon Olayinka Segelu, has commended the Governor of Oyo State, Engineer Seyi Makinde, for making issues relating to education a top priority in his administration.

Hon Segelu gave the commendation in a statement while reacting to reports indicating that Governor Makinde has given approval for the recruitment of 7, 500 teaching and 3, 000 non-teaching staff into the State Teaching Service, as part of his efforts to advance the education sector in Oyo State.

“Evidently, His Excellency, Engineer Seyi Makinde, has shown great commitment to the growth of education in Oyo State since he came on board as the governor, that is, the man in the helm of affairs of the state. 25-Year-Old Dies After Taking Hard Drug Overdose in Ibadan



A young man met his untimely demise after a suspected drug overdose in the Odo Ona area of Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State.

Yekini Yusuf, a 25-year-old resident of Olowe Street, Odo Ona, along the Ibadan-Abeokuta Road, collapsed and died on Saturday after reportedly engaging in prolonged consumption of hard drugs with his friends.

According to a resident who alerted the media, Yusuf left his home around 2:00 a.m. on Saturday to "relax and have fun" with his friends, where they were said to have indulged in the use of hard drugs. During the drug-fueled gathering, Yusuf suddenly collapsed and was rushed to a private hospital in the area.

The hospital, unable to handle the critical condition, referred Yusuf to the University College Hospital (UCH) for more comprehensive medical attention. However, his friends opted to take him to a nearby private hospital instead, where he was eventually pronounced dead by the attending doctors.

Yusuf's mother and other relatives had previously warned him against his constant drug abuse, as he was known in the area for his penchant for consuming hard drugs. In fact, the young man had suffered a seizure in 2023 due to excessive drug use, but was revived by concerned neighbors.

The tragic incident has left the Odo Ona community in shock, as they mourn the untimely passing of the 25-year-old. Yusuf's remains were immediately taken to the Muslim cemetery at the Omi area of the city for burial, shortly after the funeral prayers around 3:00 p.m. on the same day.

Woman Dies After Jumping from Ekpan-Refinery Flyover in Delta State

A woman took her own life on Saturday morning by jumping from the Ekpan-Refinery flyover in Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State.

According to eyewitness accounts, the woman, whose identity remains unknown, mounted the flyover and, after a brief pause, plunged backwards to her death on the tarred road below. A video captured by passersby showed the woman inching towards the edge of the flyover, whose rails had been damaged, before taking the fatal leap.

Though the reasons behind the woman's decision to end her life remain unclear, it was gathered that she was a mother of three who had been struggling to provide for her family. In a reported confession to a neighbor the previous night, the woman said she was tired of begging and facing insults and rejection as she tried to feed herself and her children. She also expressed frustration at her inability to find even a manual job, with people calling her lazy without understanding the difficulties she was facing.

In a social media post accompanying the video, a witness expressed the view that "depression is real" and urged people to regularly check on their loved ones, especially during these trying times.

"Depression is a disease that is actually treatable, and we must never, ever succumb to it," the post stated. "No matter what is happening, it is only temporary. Where there's life, there is also hope, and that is one of the great mysteries of life."

After the woman's tragic fall, those present at the scene were heard in the video lamenting her actions. No official statement has been released to confirm the identity of the deceased or provide any further details about her family.

Cholera: Hon Segelu hails Makinde’s prevention strategies

A Germany-based Nigerian politician from Oyo State, Hon Olayinka Segelu, has commended Governor Seyi Makinde for the efforts he has made so far to ensure that no case of cholera was recorded in Oyo as some states in the country battle with the rising outbreak of the disease.

Hon Segelu, who gave the commendation in a statement, said the governor has shown proactive and responsive leadership, working tirelessly to tackle the menace of the disease and prevent its occurrence in the state.

He called on all Oyo residents to endeavour to strictly follow the precautionary measures and guidelines rolled out by the state government to keep the state free of the infectious disease.

“I want to commend our indefatigable and workaholic governor for swiftly rising to the occasion, as he has always demonstrated in all incidences of this nature, to act proactively by putting in place necessary measures and taking the right steps to ensure the safety of the people following the recent outbreak of cholera in some states of the federation.

“As a result of the pragmatic and responsive leadership of His Excellency, Engr. Seyi Makinde, Oyo State has not recorded any confirmed case of Cholera since its outbreak. “Frankly speaking, our governor has been up and doing to make sure that the state remains free of the disease. I’m aware that enough sensitization is going on across the various communities in the state to educate and enlighten the residents on the steps to be taken to prevent the disease.

“I therefore urge our people to support and complement the efforts of the governor by ensuring strict adherence to all the preventive measures and guidelines announced by the state government for the purpose of checkmating the Cholera outbreak,” Olayinka Segelu admonished.

Chinese Investor Seizes Nigerian Government Properties in the UK


In a significant legal development, a Chinese investor has seized two Nigerian government properties located in the United Kingdom. This action follows an order granting the investor the right to enforce a $70 million investment treaty award against Nigeria.

The investor, Zhongshan Fucheng Industrial Investment, was granted final charging orders over two UK residential properties owned by the Nigerian government. This came after the company also attached a £20 million debt relating to the high-profile P&ID case.

The Chinese firm secured this order on June 14, when Master Sullivan in the Commercial Court in London granted the orders in respect of two Liverpool properties estimated to be worth a combined £1.7 million. The judge stated that the order was based on the fact that the properties have been converted to commercial use outside Nigeria's diplomatic or consular activities in the UK, emphasizing that enforcement of the order should prevail.

The underlying arbitration was related to a joint venture between Zhongshan and Nigeria's Ogun State to establish a free trade zone near Lagos in 2013. In 2021, a London-seated UNCITRAL tribunal found Nigeria guilty of expropriation and other breaches of the China-Nigeria bilateral investment treaty, ordering the country to pay $55.6 million plus interest and costs.

Despite Nigeria's efforts to challenge the award on jurisdictional grounds, the company has successfully enforced the award in various jurisdictions, including the United States, Quebec, Belgium, and the British Virgin Islands.

The legal battle has been a complex and high-profile case, with Zhongshan represented by Withers and barristers at 3VB, while Nigeria was represented by Squire Patton Boggs and a barrister at Atkin Chambers.

Nigeria's Ministry of Foreign Affairs is yet to comment on the latest developments in this ongoing dispute.

Olayinka Segelu, an Ibadan-born politician from Eleruko Compound, Oke Ofa Baba Isale, Ibadan North-East Local Government Area, also expressed his appreciation to members of the Olubadan-in- Council, the Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes (CCII), sons and daughters of Ibadanland.

He prayed that “the reign of the 43rd Olubadan will be long, eventful and engender further development and enhancement of the greatness of Ibadanland as the whole city awaits the glorious crowning and presentation of staff of office to Oba Akinloye Owolabi Olakulehin as Olubadan.”

He described the 84-year-old Oba Olakulehin as “an accomplished military man, business magnate and politician of high repute who showed deep love for Ibadanland when he served as a federal parliamentarian between 1992 and 1993, during the 3rd Republic on the platform of the Social Democratic Party (SDP).”

Describing Ibadan as a City of Warriors and accomplished professionals, Hon. Olayinka Segelu expressed optimism that “Oba Olakulehin has what it takes to be a rallying point for all Ibadan indigenes at home and abroad to work towards a marked improvement in the socio-economic standing of Ibadan and its people.”

Massive Bank Heist at First Bank As Manager Absconds with ₦40 Billion


A senior manager at First Bank's headquarters in Lagos has absconded with a staggering ₦40 billion (approximately $29 million) in an elaborate fraud scheme.

The culprit, Tijani Muiz Adeyinka, who worked as the manager of the electronic products team, is now a fugitive on the run. Adeyinka, entrusted with handling fund transfer reversals, exploited his position to divert the massive sums to his own benefit.

According to the bank's reports, Adeyinka had sole decision-making power over transfer reversals, without the oversight of a team. Instead of properly processing these reversals, he funneled the funds into a Zenith Bank account owned by his wife.

Over a period of two years, Adeyinka managed to siphon an astonishing ₦40 billion, which he subsequently scattered across 1,190 different accounts. He also used some of the stolen funds to purchase cryptocurrencies.

The scam was finally uncovered when a customer insisted on resolving a non-reversal of funds, prompting an internal review by First Bank's control unit. The review exposed the numerous suspicious transactions carried out by Adeyinka.

First Bank, with a market capitalization of ₦829 billion, immediately reported the incident to the Nigerian Police Force on March 25, 2024, and obtained multiple court orders to freeze the accounts connected to the stolen funds.

The bank's investigation revealed that Adeyinka had routed the funds to his wife's account at Zenith Bank, which then dispersed the money across 34 additional accounts. These accounts subsequently channeled the funds to 1,190 other accounts, creating a complex network of transactions to conceal the origin of the stolen money.

In a statement to the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, First Bank reiterated its commitment to collaborating with law enforcement agencies to uncover the full extent of the fraud and apprehend all individuals involved.

Pastor Claims to Have Returned from Heaven to Lecture 100-Level Students (VIDEO)


In a startling revelation, a pastor has claimed that he recently returned from a visit to heaven, where he was tasked with lecturing 100-level students.

Police Warns Parents and Youths on Awareness of June 15 Eiye Confraternity Day


June 15 marks the annual celebration of the Supreme Eiye Confraternity (SEC), also known as the National Association of Airlords (NAA), in Nigeria. This dangerous and unlawful group uses the day to recruit new members, hold leadership elections, and carry out initiation rituals and other criminal acts.

In response to this, the Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices (POCACOV), under the leadership of the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, NPM PhD, has issued a stern warning to parents, youths, and children, including those in primary and secondary schools, to be cautious about their associations and movements on this day to avoid being lured into cultism.

POCACOV has advised school administrators at all academic levels, including primary, secondary, and tertiary institutions, to be vigilant and report any unusual gatherings or activities among students.

The management of tertiary institutions has been urged to increase security measures and maintain strict supervision to ensure the safety and well-being of all students.

Parents have been urged to monitor their wards closely, know their movements, and ensure they return home early. Communities have also been advised to be cautious about suspicious gatherings in their areas and report them promptly to the police or other security agencies.

Hotel and club operators have been warned to ensure that their venues are not used for cult activities, as the Eiye Confraternity often operates under the guise of holding parties.

The public has been advised to be on the lookout for the color blue, which is predominantly used by Eiye Confraternity members, and the code "6:15," which is usually inscribed on fez caps or T-shirts.

According to Police,  POCACOV, as an agency of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), will continue to sensitize the public on the negative effects of cultism on individuals, families, and society, and through collaborative efforts, they aim to bring cultism to a manageable level.

How Obasanjo Unjustly Killed My Father-in-Law – Gbajabiamila


Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila believes that the military government led by former Head of State and later president, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo unjustly murdered his father-in- law, the late General Iliya Bisalla, Nigeria’s former Minister of Defence.

Gbajabiamila who is married to Salamatu, the late Bisalla’s daughter,  stated this in his book ‘MR SPEAKER: The legislative life, service, and resilience of Femi Gbajabiamila’ forewarded by Chief Emeka Anyaoku, former Commonwealth Secretary-General.

Bisalla was executed along with 30 other officers on March 11, 1976, for being involved in the abortive coup of February 13, 1976 in which Nigeria’s then Head of State, General Murtala Mohammed was assassinated.

EFCC officials invade Akure club, beat up ladies, seizing phones (VIDEO)


An activist has taken to social media to call out a squad of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for brutalizing club patrons in Akure in the early hours of Saturday, June 8, 2024.
Oluyemi Fasipe accused the men who conducted the raid of brutalizing people for no just cause.

He accused them of beating the ladies with sticks and leaving them with weal and bruises on their bums mainly and other parts of their body.
Using his handle, @YemieFash, he wrote on X:
“The @officialEFCC conducted a raid on two clubs in Akure overnight. They carried out physical assaults on almost everyone in the club, used tear gas, made random arrests, confiscated the phones of all the females present, damaged the CCTV cameras, and took away the engine. Some people were being rushed to the hospital.
This is totally unacceptable!!!
The rogues in red jackets entered the club at around 2am. They discharged tear gas and proceeded to physically attack everyone, including the club staff, using sticks. They collected the phones of all ladies and took them away. They destroyed and scattered items in the club. Additionally, they carried out a random mass arrest.
How do you justify this brutal assault?”
Then, attaching clips of the bums of the ladies attacked showing their injuries, he wrote in another tweet:
“Hello @officialEFCC,
This is what your rogue officers did to innocent ladies at a club in Akure last night. They also took away their phones after this dehumanization. I am sharing this for the whole world to see how irresponsible and unprofessional your agency can be.”

Operatives of the Ibadan Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, have arrested One Hundred and Twenty Seven (127) suspected internet fraudsters in Ondo State.
 
The alleged internet fraudsters were arrested in an early morning sting  operation  at a “ Yahoo Party” held simultaneously  at Signature  and Abah Clubs  on  Saturday, June 8, 2024 in Akure, Ondo State.
 
Credible  intelligence showed that the alleged party was initially scheduled for Wednesday,  June 5,  2024 but was later moved to Saturday to beat security and intelligence networks of the EFCC.
 
The suspects have given useful information to  Investigators of the Directorate. 
 
Items recovered from them include ten exotic cars, phones, laptops, motor-cycle, wristwatches and many incriminating documents 
 
They will be charged to court as soon as investigations are concluded.

Man Dumps Girlfriend For Playing Witch Role in School Drama (VIDEO)


A Nigerian lady has revealed that she was dumped by her boyfriend of two years after she played the character of a witch in a drama in school.
The lady, a student of Tai Solarin University of Education shared the story on TikTok.

She shared photos of herself dressed as a witch. Apparently, the boyfriend felt embarrassed by her role and decided to end her relationship.

In a WhatsApp exchange with her ex  which she shared online, she asked her boyfriend why he was ignoring her and he responded that he was not happy with her.
“What have I done, babe?” she inquired.

He wrote: “You know I love you and I cherish you so much but I don’t think I will want to continue this relationship again.”

“Are you whining me. Stop all this your jokes jhoor”, she responded.

“I’m not joking here okay. I’m glad you noticed I have been ignoring you since yesterday that was because you went to act as a witch at your Yoruba awareness day, you that usually behave like witch before, now you’ve proof (sic) it to me that you are a real witch.” he wrote.

The lady told him it was the role they gave her, but he would have none of it. He said that she should have rejected the unflattering role.

He declared he did not want to have anything to do with her again.
