there's a guy in Kaduna here on Nairaland who has a Turkish kangal,can't exactly remember the particular thread,plus there's another guy here in Jos with 2 male kangals just for security.So it just depends on how much you have but a well bred Caucasian would do the job very well. Get from either bsquared kennel or tox kennel and you won't regret it.

Not 8 Caucasians, there are 2 Boerboels, 1 German Shepherd,a rott and 4 Caucasians. The mum of the above 2 who is 4yrs and not for sale and one of her first litter who just came on heat so she's not for sale.The two for sale are from her November litter

Thanks bro. I'm just inspired by the success story of Vicdamn, barcaboi and Coolsmithz. I have a little challenge here. I don't know how to go about the feeding of the dog, big boy. So far, I feed him Milk and glucose 1st every morning, before serving Jojo dry food. I brought him in around 11am on Friday and was able to feed him twice that day. He was fed 3 times yesterday. (The milk and glucose is just extras). I intend to bath him again today after church, even though he had a bath at the vet yesterday. This is because of the huge tick on his body.
So, I ask for advice for Vicdamn, Coolsmithz, barcaboi, Mckandre, Oluomoadebayo, Jado, Bobbysaxy and other members of this great forum to guide on how to feed this poor dog. Also, the air on the skin is kind of bad, though the vet says he doesn't have any skin issue. I have been looking for coconut oil so I can rub on the skin. That's kinda scarce here in abuja.

As for the Rott, she calm and doing well.

Try adding other protein sources instead of the milk,the bb is already a big dog so fish,chicken,beef and pork is what's best for him now,especially pork, also try reading up barcaboi and vicdamn s threads they would be a great source of information...my two cents

then cut your coat according to your size...let's be realistic,how many people have volunteered to give you a dog, after they bought the dog,fed it,vaccinated it etc.cmon man,yhu don't have 60 or 80k and you want a good dog,almost impossible. my advice,save up your money and then buy a dog,its much easier for som1 to let go off a dog for at least a stipend of what he bought for. also remember with a dog comes unwarranted expenses and so much stress,I imagine you wouldn't just get fed up one morning and decide to throwaway or kill 80k...my two cents

first of all that dog is looking so scared and thin,damn!! what the hell do you feed her,b4 anything pls try and fatten her up. secondly,You don't know the breed yet you want to cross the dog? Haba pple,speculation wouldn't help Samoyed and Gsd, hu did that in the first place. there's too much mixing and crossbreeding in Nigeria,that's why the price of pups is skyrocketing and so many breeders can't sell stock because of impure bloodlines. my advice is to neuter or spay the dog and please DONT breed her ,but keep her and love her as a pet,because she ain't pure doesn't make her any less a wonderful dog.continue with those fine GSDs you have got and God bless yhu as help in reducing the amount off mutts and mongrels we have in nigeria .... IMHO

thanks for all the advice,will try taking away ha food after sometime although she's pretty violent abt people coming close to ha wen she's eating. As for the vet I had to stop asking and even following them into the room where the administer treatments wen my last vet told me to stop my "busybody cos he did not go to school for nothing,n I should as well treat them myself if I know so much" (his words exactly).Now my sisters hubby does the vaccinations and all other treatment in his clinic so I don't bother much.

Female Mastiffs mostly prefers to engage in psychological attention battle with the owner. This I have observed. They start by wanting u to pamper them always and treat her like a queen. bringing food whenever she wants and trowing away trash that doesnt suit her appetite.

Don't worry ur self too much or u'll suffer from hypertension like i did with my Chloe

Just ensure that she has been fully dewormed and has some vitamin shots. Then serve her food is small quantity once a day and gradually increase it once you notice improvement.

Do not engage her with treats or small chops that may fill in for the main food. Trust me, dogs can endure hunger much longer than your heart can take it. So man up and take charge.

I recently acquired a 2yr female Boerboel ( thanks to jendoakino) and since she arrived at my house she doesn't like eating...I tried feeding ha the same food my oda dogs eat ie rice,eggs and half raw meat scraps that I get from a butcher close by but she just picks the meat and shuns the rice, also tried feeding ha wat she eats at ha former home (corn,groundnut,ground fish and acha) but she just licks the food some n turns away,concerned I paid a visit to my vet who dewormed ha n gave her Bcomplex and some oda injections...on getting home she still refused to eat,tot Owk she might just not like eating a lot. this morning my mum commented on how much weight she had lost,then I panicked and decided to turn to Nairaland for help. so if anyone here has a suggestion or tip that would be helpful please let me hear it.pics below

A friend of mine travelling oversea wants to dash me his cute puppy dog but unfortunately I have never been a dog fan so I will love to sell it.
Please who knows what breed this dog is and how much is the selling price for it?

probably a Gsd not 100% doe,price should be from 15 to 30k,BTW ask for pics of the parentsand a vaccination card that would really help with the sale.

People prefer slants to straight backs in Nigeria cos its easier to find a pedigree of the former like someone stated earlier.

don't have any o,visited a friend and saw the dog with his neighbor,said the guy imported it just for security as "thief no wan gree them rest"

the best solution would be to build a proper kennel for him,not from wood though but a concrete one with metal bars and please please please stop Chaining the dog.

straightbacks are the original breeds. Von Stephanix who is the father of GSD raised straightbacks....I can only give 2 reasons for the slant craze...
u re definitely sure u got an imported dog or from an imporrted lineage. ..pple like imported things
2. gsd has bn bastardised and seeing a full pedigree straight back in Nigeria is rare, tho not scarce

am telling you...as long as its slant back they don't care if you import or not,BTW I know a guy with an amazing imported straight back here in Nigeria n the dog is much better than any slant back I've seen

I know this topic has already been over flogged and debated on a lot of forums(even here on NL) but I really need to know what the hype over Slant back GSDs is all about. Been really troubled about the decline of GSD dogs being a Huge GSD fanatic, all my Gsd research finally led me to Alsace royale kennels, spoke with a rep who finally put all my doubts to rest. When i asked her why they didn't keep slb(slantbacks) she said they only keep original pedigree German Shepherds not american show dogs, though am clear about both variations I just want to know what's the huge fuss being made about slantbacks? Had a contact who told me my GsD was impure just because he wasn't a slantback. pls I need to know

if u need a gsd pup...meet wit the rite people...I only know of 2 reputable gsd breeders in jos...his name is jersey...he has good gsd...the other is mr shola..I imported a lot of quality gsds from russia for him and in no time he has been gaining so much recognisition wen it comes to slant gsds...I will post some of the gsds I imported for him...but majority of them are adult now...if u nEed the direct imported ones....contact JADO, BOBBY SAXY and other popular dog importers on nairaland...u sure will get a good one...all the best

Not into slantbacks,that's the issue cos most of the Gsd owners I know are only into slantbacks ,but thanks bobby saxy saving to get a female slantback from from,shey its 150k?

Haba y now...COs are great buh haba y phase out the great German Shepard, am sooo opening my own gsd exclusive kennel.

This has been bothering alot...i know jos is like the capital of dog breeding in Nigeria buh afta reading through all pet threads here i discovered that there aren't any adverts for GSDs here in jos,since Tochukwu is a personal friend and i happen to have bought some dogs from him years ago,i called him and asked if i could get a good gsd puppy,surprisingly the "dog father" didnt have any gsd pups for sale...a couple of calls later,and still no gsd,i had to post here and ask is there any gsd breeder here in jos? Or is it just BBs,COs and Neapolitans that people breed here?

Only two breeds of dogs? Cmon man we get that COs are great dogs...for me there are far better dogs dan COs like the kangal,its such a rare dog that I've only seen two people who breed it,there are mastiffs pitbulls etc who are much better than COs imo.
