How is the fuel consumption after you parked the car for 3 weeks??
Tbh, i haven't really paid attention to official MPG figures, but I've always used a full tank, 10k7 for a week, sunday to sunday, car hardly gets to ¼ tank when i refill.

Why do I even feel that mech is the one scamming you sir..

He obviously doesn't have an idea of what's wrong, hence the need to keep pushing money.

Moreso, a simple obd scan should at least give you a clear direction sir..

That said, it's a rewirer work sef not your mech..
Mech and vendor at Ladipo both said its quite difficult to get a new sensor that works, basedon the $100 naira card limit, ordering an oem one is out of the option atm.

Car TalkSluggish Acceleration, Please Advise On A Way Forward, 2012 Honda Accord Coupe by speedfreak(op):
Hello Nairalanders,
I have a 2012 inline 4 Honda Accord coupe, car has been an absolute thrill, zero issues, no stress until three months back, travelled out of town for work, spent a little of three weeks, car was undriven during the whole time. came back and all hell broke loose, first AC wouldn't changed the in cabin filter, Flushed and refilled, Problem solved, had issues cranking the car, battery was on its way out, so I replaced. Issue now is the car is slow as f**k, overtaking and hill climbing is such a chore, especially when the engine is under load(AC on).
Yes i have scanned, yes check engine is on. Don't have the results as i wasn't there but mech said its only cold start sensor that appeared under powertrain codes.

Its a little better if i put the selector in D3, As advised by my mechanic i've replaced the following:
1. Injector nozzles(All 4) with a complete assembly from oyingbo
2. Cleaned throttle body(process was a b***h because i took forever to successfully relearn the correct idle position )
3. Changed all 4 spark plugs twice(Honda branded first, NGK next)
4. Two faulty distributor wires
5. Transmission Fluid Change(Did the recommended flush and refill x3 couldnt get DW1 for the 2nd but have drained and refilled with DW1)
6. Fuel pump assembly
7. Throttle Position sensor
8. Air filter
Even after the car still accelerates like a diesel truck, mech is tired says to just manage it like that. I'm a loyalty person so i haven't changed mechanics but i'd be open to doing just about anything to solve this problem. I'm in Lagos, Gbagada to be precise.
NB:
Noticed that my upstream 02 sensor is disconnected, plug is broken so i couldn't connect myself, took it to my mechanic and he says replace, Paid twice but he say's he can't get a working one and advised against going myself because i'd be easily swindled on a part like that, read about the open and closed loop operation of oxygen sensors so could this be the culprit?

Aunty, no vex, but it's the gospel truth. I'm 28, have a decent job, earn around 250k a month. Getting a decent girl for a healthy relationship is hard, believe me I have tried. The ones you meet will expect you to compete with yahoo boys. Like I can comfortably take care of a woman, but I'm not going to buy a phone worth my 2 months salary, it makes zero sense to me.
At the end I'm labeled 'stingy'. The average Nigerian lady, especially the Gen Z and millinials want to date fraudsters, that's the simple truth. They don't care how the money comes, as long as you can buy iPhone.
I can relate to this, had similar issues with the younger crowd because I believed the ideal woman would be 3 to 4 years younger, most girls at that age aren't really looking for something serious, just someone to augment the lifestyle they want to live, I'd advise you consider bankers, corporate women or those self employed business ladies 26 and above, you'll be shocked at how much better your life would be , you'd still spend although a little bit more but i can assure it certainly wouldn't be for some frivolous thing, presently splitting a 750k professional course fee with my madam, a few months back we spilt something similar to purchase furniture for my new place, its not entirely about financial convenience, conversations, networking, spirituality, heck even the sex is better. If you're on the island try KPMG, Deloitte or any of the banks in Victoria island, you'd meet really interesting people not just for relationships but business and everything in-between.
PS: This is just my personal opinion, use at your own discretion.

Lol. Their hubris is something else. They have no regard for anyone. Everything is about money to them. Very loud set.
Unfortunately, that's the kind i've been attracting these days, might have to do with my light skinned, curvaceous girl fetish grin, no jokes about the phone thingy, this particular on didn't know what Airdrop was, to her apparently you can only send pictures from an iPhone through instant messaging.

Stories that touch the heart, even the op's boyfriend is a yahoo boy, if not for yahoo many guys won't be able to feed in Nigeria. There is hardly anyway for anyone to make a decent living in Nigeria without doing something shady, plus the entitlement mentality of Naija girls pushing many niggars to do yahoo. Yahoo has come to stay until Nigeria treats it's youth right.
Depends on your definition of a decent living, a sub luxury car at 23, a 4m PA apartment on freedom way, breakfast and weekend getaways at oriental hotel or illaje beach?, out with it already, ya'll want to work a little and earn the most, funny how you set yourselves up for failure just from the way you think, enjoy it while it lasts undecided

Years back yahoo wasn’t something people wanted to be associated with, in first person or third person sef. Now it has been normalized and in the long list of the justification for yahoo, there is this one that stands out- YAHOO BOYS HELP THE ECONOMY AND SMALL TO MEDIUM SCALE BUSINESS. This is supposed to make us appreciate them right? Interesting.
Lol, when we speak up, why are you hating? is it your family they are stealing from?, so I'd rather not say anything in public but tbh they've ruined almost everything social and lifestyle related. Recently had this issue with a certain neighbor when I bought a new car, typical Lagos apartment, small parking space and constant parallel parking, came in late on Friday night and against my better judgment, decided to park outside...long story short, one of them almost took my whole side mirror off and instead of an apology he offered to buy me and my whole family new cars grin. The discrimination is evident with the feminine gender, had one ask me recently how can you be using a iPhone X in 2021,better be doing what your mates are doing.
There's very little appreciation for honest hard work anymore, after all anybody with a laptop and internet can be a millionaire right?

Just seeing your thread

I think breaking the journey would have been lovely since you had your partner with you. You could break the journey at Lokoja or stop at Ekiti and relax a bit.

I do a 5 hour out of Lagos trip frequently and i most of the times use it as an opportunity to explore cities in between the destinations. Even if you leave Lagos by 5am, the construction along the Lagos-ibadan stretch would extend your journey by at least an 1hour 30mins.

Also the stretch from Ibadan to Ekiti isn't really that good with the police check points at almost every 5km. For your own sake, make plenty N100 or N50 changes. If they stop you and nicely ask for Bottle water money.
Abeg give them. Or you could have snacks handy and give it to them. They patched lots of potholes on the road but there are still lots of failed portions so you need to maintain 80 to 100km speeds at most. Lots of peeps fly past me at 120km/hr or even 140km only for you to meet them infront with a burst tyre. Last thing you want is stop to change tyres or driving without a spare with hundreds of km left to cover.

The Ekiti-kabba-okene end is an hilly area and the roads aren't that straight and smooth , so
expect a lot of curves and turns which means you can't maintain maximum speeds.
This would eat into your travel time considerably.

Most hotels outside of Lagos are dirt cheap for a 3 star one. You would get very good ones @ 15k or less with breakfast in most cities outside of Lagos. Breaking your journey helps reduces the need to overspeed or driving long hours at a stretch and most importantly avoiding night travel. Nigerian roads aren't equipped for such.

Google maps is pretty reliable inside of Lagos but once you are in a town/city outside Lagos. Please do not take its advise to follow a shorter route and deviate from the highway. You go lost. Google don go carry me drop for middle of road that was leading to a mountain in Ekiti in the name of finding alternative routes. Lol
Thanks for the response, took a trip with Gigm last month to gauge how the route presently is to and fro, almost changed my mind about making the trip in December, concerned about lost time on those curves and turns at ?Ekiti-kabba, plus the okene to lokoja stretch is quite bad so I'm thinking a 3-4hr slowdown? Previously made late night trips up north, Jos- Abuja, Abuja-Minna so i could handle driving late into the night, not so sure i want to risk it right now with the present security challenges? Madam has also sworn to never travel by road after our last trip so i"m pretty much alone, Plan on breaking at lokoja and finishing the next day.
What would you advise?

Which one be extra affinity miles again?
Rightfully called affinity wings, its a rewards program Arik gives frequent flyers, you accumulate miles on each flight and can use these miles to pay for flights, excess luggage, move up from business to first class etc. Ive been flying with them since my school days so ive racked up enough miles to make a huge difference on regular ticket prices.

Car TalkWhere Can I Find A 2010 Mercedes C300 Coupe In Lagos Nigeria by speedfreak(op): 7:32pm On Jul 03, 2021
Hey fam,
So I'm lowkey in the market for a new car, I have been considering the tri star brand (Mercedes benz) for a while since I've always been a JDM fanatic(still think Honda's are Gods gift to man), I wanted something German that wouldn't break the bank, moved to lagos so a BMW is out of the question, have a thing for Audi's but I cant afford an rs7 yet so Mercedes seemed like a perfect fit. Didn't want the regular c300 since it's pretty much everywhere and I couldn't stretch to a 2013 model budgetwise. Until saw this blacked out c300 or c350 coupe on 3rd mainland yesterday and I knew I just got to have it, got on jiji and instagram to at least have an idea of what it was going to cost me but apparently the coupe model is pretty rare besides I had always wanted a benz coupe since I saw heavenlybangs black beauty, pretty sure the e350 is out of my range tho.
so I'm creating this post to ask if anyone has an early model c300 coupe 2008 to 2011 for sale, preferably toks in black or gray, located in lagos or environs. Budget is just below 4m. The one I posted below is a 2013 i want similar just an earlier model.

Yes, you just talked about profiling, we all know police extortion is a norm in our country to the extent that I've seen a situation where police extort a young man driving government owned vehicles with gov' number plate. Custom or fancy plates doesn't attract such attention contrary to popular belief, I personally did the survey with custom plate owners, 90% of those I asked made me believe they don't get extorted for the fact that they use custom plates. You can also do the real time research, ask people with customized plates, they are less disturbed on the road.
Maybe it's just me then, I still have that same car with regular plates and I'm stopped less than I was when I had Spdfrk plates

Ps. How did you arrive at 418hp, since your car isn't stock, how did you arrive at your figure without a dyno?

Maybe it's only you. Police can't stop you because you are using special number and extort you for it. Unless you are not clean.
I'm pretty sure it's not just me, it's called profiling, it's the same way law enforcement assumes if you drive a Benz or a late model car as a young boy, your money isn't legit. At some point I'd rather give you the 1k before you ask me to park than be delayed for a silly reason. I've been stopped by police men and after certifying all my vehicle details, they said my tyres were expired, wonder how they figured that out since they apparently couldn't tell that my license way outdated by at least 6 months. Long story short a custom plate does what it was made for, attracting attention be it positive or negative.

I wish I had your mind like this!! For those staying calm down and meet the manager, here's another scen8Had the same thing happen to me just last week at the petrocam filling station just off Lekki Epe, was in hurry and I couldn't stand the constant enyo traffic so I stopped at this petro cam instead, I fill up for 11k and buy 4k in a keg, I do every week for since I relocated in January, this particular day the gauge stopped at just two lines after half tank marker and the keg was filled as usual, I raised alarm and the attendant said fuel price has increased meanwhile their display clearly said 165n PL, insisted on seeing the manager and he said there's nothing he can do maybe my gauge is faulty, after arguing for almost 30mins I just got frustrated and drove off, had to buy an additional 4k to fill up the tank. A peaceful resolve doesn't always get you anywhere undecided

Hello OP, good choice you made there, just a few things to consider before you buy, avoid the v6 if you're not a performance person, high mileage vehicles as I'm sure you'd be getting have certain defects that makes the vcm fail after a while, the 2.4l ivtech also has a similar issue but it's much more manageable and easier yo replace when it fails, also avoid Nigerian used models with the moon roof (Ex,Ex L,Lx s) otherwise you might have to deal with water leaks and that roofline is pretty expensive to replace. Overall it's a good buy as long as its not a lemon or abused one,go along with a competent mechanic before you pay. Welcome to the Honda family
