Bamboos rivals steel in tensile strength. Although the right questions to be asked would be what test was carried out to check for the Structural integrity and all that especially in terms of Biodegradation etc., still, if properly treated with epoxy or strong coating system, it will last more than the usual 8 years it takes for bamboo to biodegrade.
