hello IELTS is quite technical to put it mildly but I believe there's no challenge which cannot be overcome when the Grace of God is speaking for you. it has 4 sections Listening, Speaking, Reading and writing an essay. from an overview class i attended, you will have to do away with so many speaking mannerisms which seem commonplace to Nigerians and Africans in general for instance when i ask what is your name? you don't reply with my name is..., instead you answer directly....Mr. Batuchi, etc and you must not forget titles e.g Miss, Mr. before the name. There were so many things the man showed us in the in class and the funniest part was that in 2 hrs, we were only able to do overviews for 2 sections out of the the four. talk about re-learning your mother tongue!!

Basically, i feel the time you need to learn what you will be taught depends on
a. how fast of a learner you are
b. the time you have on your hands e.g if you have a job and other commitments which take up your time
c. how much free time do you have to dedicate to practicing on your own apart from your tutor schedule

with all these factors taken into consideration, you can set aside a month. When you feel sufficiently prepared, you register for the exam and choose a date that is close to when you will be free to take the exam so what you learnt will still be fresh in your mind. You may not see a lot of people to practice with except those in your class are also keen on group study.

the deadline is June 19th, so there's some time to get good with the practice before taking the test

Thanks alot for giving so much details, I'll work towards preparing to meet the June deadline, So i guess this is the end of the road for me with this scholarship as I am sure the Application time-frame must have elapsed by June.

I visited the british council nigeria website and I discovered that for previous applicants of this scholarship, IELTS test score was required for shortlisted candidates, which implies that IELTS probably wasn't mandatory until candidates have been shortlisted. In anycase, seems this trend has changed.

ps ielts is compulsory, its almost 70 thous to take depending on the one you are going for. For more information, try to visit the British Council in either Lagos or Abuja or their website.

It was stated explicitly that if you are going to use your statement of result,you are meant to take it to Ministry of Education, they will authenticate it and send it to FSB themselves.
Also about your venue,it is FSTC Awka.
Lastly about your transcript, did you tell your school to send it to the Director or Secretary FSB,Abuja?You can explain to them that your school will send it to them after it has been processed(Just wondering why you didn't apply since January for your transcript sha)

Please can someone answer my question especially that on transcript. The answer shall be the determinant factor whether or not I should attend the Test because I'm currently far away from my supposed test Center. Please help, Must I arrive the venue with a copy of my Transcript?

Sorry for my late response.

From the Pre-Application Instructions, It is compulsory to posses an NYSC discharge certificate, however on the application form there is no direct mention of Nysc or it isn't stated that you upload your Nysc certificate.

My inference from the excercise is ; If you are sure to posses your Nysc discharge certificate by the end of April, then go ahead and apply. This is because the application closes by the 13th of April, and I'm guessing it might take a week or two before the shortlist, So that is enough time to receive your discharge certificate, I believe a batch of corps members are passing out in April, so they can go ahead and apply.

Will I be able to finish it in a day?

There was 7 days addition to my real DOB as registered in my birth certificate as well as a wrong name out of the 3 names there,what am I supposed to do about this before proceeding to the Nigeria population commission for my new birth/ attestation certificate which will be accepted by BAE??

1. NPC doesn't require your real birth certificate. All you need is a well prepared affidavit signed and stamped at a high court.

2. You will be given a form to fill at the NPC office, Please ensure you are careful and that you supply accurate information, as acurate as it should appear on the Certificate.

3. I advice you start processing it now cos mine took about two weeks and i did it at the NPC lagos office.

I'm yet to complete my application, however I intend to select ''Not Specified" for IELTS score.

I can Start Preparing and I think IELTS shouldn't be a hindrance at this stage considering that you can register and write the exam within a month or two.

Have you tried submitting your application with the ''Not Specified" option Selected?

Thanks bro. I've sorted it out. I figured out that under the "Prefered Institution for Postgraduate Education" in the "Questionnaire" section there are only five schools listed, namely: University of Aberdeen, University of Cranfield, University of Leeds, University of Strathclyde, and University of Liverpool. Does it mean we can't apply with any other schools apart from these?

Like you bro, I'm constrained by this same issue, however I'm currently looking into it to see if our choices are restricted to those listed schools. But for now, its not specified for me
